The Housing and Welfare team is a fast-paced team which works to make sure that all of our clients have safe and comfortable accommodation and are able to access any benefits to which they are entitled. People seeking asylum are restricted in the benefits they can access, if any, and their legal status determines whether or not they can engage in employment and what statutory accommodation is available for them, so the Housing and Welfare team is vital in helping HBF’s clients to navigate this system. People recently granted refugee status and those who have experienced exploitation are also at high risk of destitution, homelessness and unsuitable accommodation.
As a very busy team, our casework volunteers are invaluable, supporting the staff team on anything from liaising with statutory bodies and voluntary agencies, to drafting grant applications for individual welfare needs. To be able to meet the enormous demand for welfare and housing support, we ideally need to have volunteer support throughout the week.
Main tasks and activities
· Assisting clients to access asylum support, community care, housing, mainstream benefits, charitable support (etc.), within the remit of prevention of homelessness and destitution;
· Maintaining contact with clients within the remit of prevention of homelessness and destitution;
· Liaising with statutory bodies (Asylum Support, DWP, local authorities), solicitors and voluntary agencies to ensure client needs are met;
· Referring clients internally and externally as appropriate for specialist help with issues that fall outside the remit of the housing and welfare casework service, including health/therapeutic services, referrals to immigration/housing/community care solicitors;
· Maintaining accurate and timely client records and follow-up work;
· Other administrative duties as required, including database management and filing.
Skills and experience needed
· Understanding of, and commitment to, the objectives of the Helen Bamber Foundation;
· A demonstrable empathy for our vulnerable clients, including people seeking asylum, refugees and survivors of torture and trafficking;
· Some knowledge of the challenges facing vulnerable clients including people seeking asylum, refugees and survivors of torture, trafficking;
· Some experience in a casework and/or advice role;
· Some knowledge of the rights and entitlements of people seeking asylum and refugees;
· Some knowledge of mainstream benefits, housing, social care;
· Ability to keep up to date with legislation, case law, policies and procedures relating to welfare, housing and immigration;
· Punctual, reliable and self-motivated;
· Able to commit regularly (ideally same day each week)
· Awareness of confidentiality/data protection;
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
· Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage own time and workload, and to prioritise a range of competing demands;

About Us

Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated and tech-savvy IT Volunteer to assist our organization with various technology-related tasks. This role is ideal for individuals looking to gain experience in IT while contributing to a meaningful cause. The IT Volunteer will work closely with our staff to ensure that our technology systems are running smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide basic IT support to staff and volunteers (troubleshooting software/hardware issues).

· Help manage and update the charity’s website, databases and cloud systems.

The Board

Trustees are not paid but travel expenses may be claimed for attending meetings.
The Board meets (via Zoom and in person) approximately 6 times a year, currently early evening on a Thursday. Regular dates are agreed a year in advance.
There is no set time commitment, although attendance at Board meetings and some training / workshop events is expected.
Individual trustees can also join or lead the Board’s Committees (currently we have a Finance Committee and a People and Governance Committee). There are also occasional task groups on particular short-term items.

statutory accounts to the Board. Input is also required during the annual audit process.

About Youth ESOL:
Our award-winning ESOL project offers English language classes to young people at a wide range of levels. This provides vital skills, opportunities and social contact and is crucial for enabling young people to do well at school or college.
About the Role:
CARAS is looking for volunteer ESOL Teaching Assistants to support our face-to-face study programme called ‘Get Ready for School.’
This programme is attended by young people out of education and is based in Tooting on Mondays and Wednesdays. Core delivery of the programme includes English, Maths, Digital skills, complemented by Reading and Writing for Pleasure.
Volunteers in this role are required to commit to at least one 2-hour session per week, during these times:
- Monday 10am - 3pm
- Tuesday 2pm - 6pm
- Wednesday 11am - 6pm
Please note that ESOL classes do not run during school holidays, and we follow Wandsworth Council term dates.
Volunteer Tasks and Responsibilities:

Providing learners with one-to-one or small group support within ESOL classes;

Help young people to build confidence in digital literacy;

Helping to set up the classroom and provide learners with classroom resources;

Engaging learners in informal conversations or games during breaks to help them practice their conversational English.

The Refugee and Migrant Centre (RMC) is a well-established, award winning regional charity, renowned for its work with refugees & migrants. RMC operate across Birmingham and the Black Country and have a very broad remit and extremely varied service user base. We have 5 offices across our area of operation, over a hundred staff and dozens of volunteers
The ideal candidates would have considerable experience in similar roles, have in depth understanding of charity boards/governance and be sympathetic to our ethos and values.
For these non-remunerated, voluntary roles, we would ask that you dedicate time to attend 7-8 board meetings annually as well as social events, celebrations etc.

Volunteering at the Drop-In centre provides an opportunity for you to help our refugee clients with any issues they might have. We have sessions running every Tuesday between 11:30am and 1:30pm at St Mary’s Church, High Street, Watford. The Drop-In provides an opportunity for refugee clients to come and discuss any issues they have and to be listened to by one of our volunteers. Many of our clients are likely to have lived here for a while but an issue or crisis in their lives means that they need to discuss it and seek some help. They may also be in the process of seeking asylum. We can provide advice and sometimes resolve their issue there and then and at other times we refer them to another agency or invite them to come back once their issue has been looked into.
The Drop-In Centre could not function without our team of committed volunteers, and we are always looking for additional help.
Full training given on starting the role as well as regular training sessions and continual support from more experienced volunteers.
Responsibilities:
· Help with filling in forms and interpreting official documents.
· Liaising with statutory and voluntary agencies.
· Referring clients for follow up action by our Case Review Team and linking them with a befriender.
· Referring clients to our partner solicitor who specialises in immigration law and comes to the Drop-In 4th Tuesday of the month.
· Advice on how to access appropriate housing and free food in the area.
· Access to the charity’s other services, such as free English classes.
Requirements:
· Able to attend at least one Tuesday Drop-In a month.
· Complete training as required and attend bi-monthly volunteer support meetings.
Skills:
· An ability to communicate and empathise with people from a variety of backgrounds and needs.
· Basic IT skills.
· Assist clients in accessing essential services such as legal, housing, financial and food.
· Can work well as part of a team.

As well as this it will be a way for you to develop your social media and computer skills, gain experience volunteering for a charity and also it will be an interesting addition to your CV!
Full training will be given on starting the role, including safeguarding, as well as regular training sessions and continual support from other volunteers.

· Updating the charity’s Facebook, X and Instagram pages regularly (ideally at least weekly).

SASS (Swansea Asylum Seekers Support) are looking for a finance professional with excellent financial management and analysis skills to join our welcoming Board of Trustees.
What will you be doing?
We are a volunteer-led registered charity, run and managed by our members, who include asylum seekers, refugees and other local people. We give a warm welcome to people seeking sanctuary in Swansea through our twice-weekly drop-ins, and offer practical support, educational and recreational opportunities.

Our Story
Talitha Arts was founded by actor, Amanda Root. It began as a small volunteer organisation, primarily offering mental health support by facilitating arts workshops for International Justice Mission in India and working with professionals in aftercare homes for girls rescued from trafficking and violent abuse.
Over the years, our work has expanded to respond to the needs of U.K. organisations working directly with those who have experienced trauma, abuse, violence, homelessness; ex-offenders, refugees, children, and those who are living with dementia.
Every year as part of our mandate, we train new practitioners in the Talitha Approach to deliver our workshops. Our approach is 'person-centred', meaning it is tailored to the individuals we serve. Our practitioners are both professional creative artists and registered therapists who are passionate about the Talitha Mission.

Job Summary: A befriending coordinator role is available WTRRP. Befriending is one of the longest running services at the charity and it has recently been reviewed so that volunteers and clients are receiving the best and most supportive experience possible. A coordinator is required to ensure the smooth running of the service and that the new Befriending vision and policy is carried out.
Principal Responsibilities:
● Be a point of contact to all Befrienders.
● Help with the organising and allocating of befrienders with befriendees, with the support of Casework Coordinator, in a timely manner.
● Encourage befrienders to empower clients and create a self-sufficient service.
● Communicate with befrienders and Casework Coordinators to determine whether the befriending relationship is suitable or needs to end.
● Raise any safeguarding issues immediately with the Safeguarding Lead and/or a member of the Committee.
● Develop a good, trusting and listening relationship with befrienders and remain in regular contact with them to ensure they feel supported in their time volunteering.
● Forward on any volunteers to the Emotional Support Counsellor, if needed.
● Liaise with others involved in the partnership such as Drop-In Volunteers, Casework Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator and Committee members.
● Be fully aware of, comply with, and promote, safe systems of work to protect the health, wellbeing and safety of all volunteers and clients whilst befriending.
● Work constructively as a team member to make a positive contribution with all volunteers from the Partnership.
● Attend bimonthly volunteer, coordinator meetings and casework meetings if required. All based in Watford and/or via Zoom.
● Facilitate frequent befriender meetings to create a supportive culture.

Our focus as an organisation supporting refugees are three-fold:
Frontline evacuations, where conflicts are at their their most precarious

Your focus will be on marketing our AID SHOP, a groundbreaking humanitarian aid delivery system that allows the general public to turn their empathy for new crises (Gaza, Turkey & Syria earthquake etc) into effective immediate action.
When disaster strikes, or the season changes - survival items for escalating conflicts or disasters are changed and added to our website. You will communicate these updates via email campaigns and social media posts, the items are then 'purchased' by our supporters, with the shopping lists collated internally by you, then sent to our partners or volunteers on the ground who can purchase the physical items and deliver the survival items to vulnerable people in the most precarious and volatile regions, sometimes within minutes!
We also save greatly shipping and storage costs, and there is next to zero chance for unforseen delays at customs.
It is the most efficient way we know of giving in a crises - and is very efffective when marketed right (following either our set formulas, or bringing your own to experiment with). The best part? People know exactly where their money is going, so are justifiably much more generous!
So we need a volunteer (you!) to manage our marketing and communication efforts, ideally 2 days per week to:
*Post on social media (1 x reel / story per week, using a template to communicate the most needed survivial item of the week available for purchase in our "aid shop". 1 x Faceboo photo or video post)
