We are seeking an exceptional Chief Executive to lead a local, independent, self-funded charity that exists to improve the lives of older people in Lewisham and Southwark, through its next chapter of strategic growth and community impact.

Position: Chief Executive Officer

Salary: £70,000 – £80,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Location: London, with services based in Lewisham and Southwark (hybrid working available)

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a respected, independent local charity that makes a lasting difference to the lives of older people in Lewisham and Southwark. As Chief Executive, you will set the strategic direction, ensure operational excellence, and act as a passionate advocate for older people.

You will work closely with the Board of Trustees, senior leadership team and staff to lead and grow a diverse portfolio of services – including health and wellbeing, social prescribing, outreach, advice and day care. As Individual Giving Officer you will also monitor performance of fundraising projects and make tactical and strategic recommendations to enhance results. Key Skills and Attributes: 

This role requires a confident fundraiser and project manager with a solid grasp of fundraising from individuals, either donor recruitment or retention, or in direct marketing within the charity or commercial sector.

Experience of developing and managing multi-channel fundraising projects is essential using a range of media channels. These include telemarketing, print (supporter magazine, cash appeals, retention mailings, inserts and cold mailings), paid social media, Display, YouTube, PPC  and email.

You’ll need to demonstrate a good level of organisational, time management and project management skills, and show a great attention to detail, leading on the monitoring and reporting of projects.

You’ll provide strong creative thinking, and work alongside the internal Content and Creative teams to ensure that content is accessible, inclusive, and honours our commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion 

You’ll gain support from the Senior Individual Giving Officer on using the latest CRM database and create mailing selection lists and help take part in quarterly reforecasting. And show a good understanding of the both the charity fundraising sector and the climate crisis, in order to keep up with the latest trends and techniques.

The Individual Giving program has evolved hugely over the past few years, with a big increase in our digital activity and collaboration with campaign teams to create compelling and integrated plans. You’ll need to show a  track record of engaging online audiences, with an ability to produce compelling copy and content.

Each Individual Giving Officer manages a selection of projects across recruitment or experience, rotating project management to support development and learning across the team.

Knowledge of relevant compliance including Fundraising Code of Practice, CAP code, UK data protection law and complaints handling requirements in relation to individual giving is essential.

As part of the Solent Team, this post is crucial to the successful delivery of the Trust’s Wilder vision for the southern Hampshire sites. The post holder will share the responsibility for the management of the Solent reserves with an Assistant Reserves Officer. The reserves encompass a wide range of habitat types and species and includes two flagship reserves, Farlington Marshes and Swanwick Lakes. Candidates will need to have experience in a wide range of habitat management techniques, including wetland and grazing marsh. Key aspects of the role will be to manage the estate to a high standard in line with contractual and statutory obligations and promoting the Trust Reserves as exemplars of good management. The post holder will be responsible for the line management of the Assistant Reserves Officer and annual Trainee, for the recruitment and supervision of volunteers and will coordinate a varied programme of volunteering and public engagement activities. 

This is a challenging and dynamic role that requires a high degree of practical competency, initiative, determination, administrative skills and diplomacy. The post holder will be an experienced land manager, competent in the in the use of power tools and tractors with a confident and engaging communication style. Knowledge of conservation grazing systems and livestock husbandry will be an advantage. Flexible working will be required.

Migration Policy Scotland (MPS) is an independent policy organisation working to improve the prospects for a more just migration system in Scotland and across the UK. MPS is pioneering an approach that integrates migrant lived experience into research-driven policy influencing. We’re here to prevent children from becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to change things.  

In recent years, violent crime involving children has increased. This is a tragedy. Every child is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them.

The Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) is a charity with a £200m endowment that exists to reverse this trend. We will achieve this by finding out what works to prevent youth violence and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice. We do this by funding, evaluating and then spreading the very best work on reducing youth violence across England and Wales.

• Helping to organise the annual appraisal of staff (setting up and collecting in forms and making sure everyone knows what’s going on) so that everyone learns and develops.

• Ensuring that the policies we have (on things like pay, holidays, being in the office etc). are easy for staff to find and that someone is prompted to remind staff about them regularly. 

• Coming to know our staff policies inside out, so that staff can go to you to get a question answered.

• Supporting the administration of the end-to-end recruitment process, such advertising jobs online, arranging interviews, managing candidate correspondences and the keeping up to date records. 

• Assisting in the first phase of CV reviews (spotting great people). 

• Organising and managing all new starter documentation, such as; right to work, references, issuing of an employee contract and DBS’s (where appropriate) 

• Ensuring new staff have the right equipment and IT on day one. Being the go-to person for their administrative questions. 

• Onboarding new team members on our office space and IT systems 

General administration 

Make sure some of most important meetings are incredibly effective. You’ll do this by 

• Organising those meetings (booking rooms, inviting people), taking great minutes, making sure we keep track of things we said we would do and saving the documents in the right place.

• Working really well with colleagues to organise documents and information for reports. 

• Supporting people, you work most closely with (the wider operations team) on some of the more important processes, including audits and document maintenance. 

Team Culture 

You will be passionate about supporting to maintain a strong values-led team culture and able to demonstrate what that means.

• Supporting our Culture Lead to prepare and deliver excellently planned and engaging quarterly team away days. This includes visiting event spaces, managing catering and providing excellent support on the day – including activities.

• Noticing when colleagues are less well connected to the team and working with the Culture Lead to support their integration.

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to provide project support work in our InterAction service.  The successful candidate will provide support to asylum seekers and refugees in the Tyne and Wear region, empowering them to overcome immediate barriers, integrate with the community and build skills for the future.  

The aim of our InterAction project is to support asylum seekers, refugees and migrants to make informed decisions and overcome the difficulties they are facing and integrate successfully into their communities in the North East. The project does this through person-centred support and through building connections to services, organisations and peers.   

We provide support through trained caseworkers, many of whom are volunteers with lived experience of the immigration system and are fluent in multiple languages. We work out of drop-ins in Newcastle and South Tyneside, offering social spaces where people can enjoy talking to others, pick up free food and clothing or get a haircut.

Key Tasks

• Lead and deliver projects as part of a high-quality programme of support and development for the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Sector and Communities in Buckinghamshire. (See appendix)

Base of Work

Hybrid typically minimum 1 day per week at Community Impact Bucks’ Office near Aylesbury with the rest working from home. Role Context and Purpose

Following recent and projected growth of the organisation, Gaddum is looking to recruit additional resource within the Central team to bolster its support to the organisation, ensuring it delivers safe and high quality services.

The post holder, line managed by the Finance and Resources Director, will join the Finance Assistant and Central Services Coordinator in providing additional resource to the centralised function. Whilst the specific focus of the role will be by way processing payroll and employee expenses, due to the size of the team, there is an expectation that they will work closely with the Central Services Coordinator and Finance Assistant providing additional support to those roles when needed. This is an up to 28 hours per week role, working flexibly and hybrid to suit the needs of the organisation and individual.
 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Management and delivery of Gaddum’s monthly payroll for all employees:

- Collating information and inputting into company system
- Ensuring accurate and timely processing of salaries including adding new starters, processing leavers, and any other contractual changes

Management of pension scheme:

- Ensuring compliance with auto-enrolment pension
- Adding new starters and processing leavers with the pension provider along with any changes that might impact pension
- Updating pension provider with any monthly contributions

- Supporting employees with payroll queries and investigating discrepancies
- Prepare salary reports to management, explaining key reasons for variances to budget
- Processing and payment of employee expenses on a bi-weekly basis
- Regular cover for Central Services Coordinator on their non-working days and during periods of leave
