The Opportunity
We have an exciting new opportunity for you to work with Waterwise to help deliver a groundbreaking water-saving pilot project in London, on behalf of the 50L Home coalition.
We are looking for an experienced Programme Manager to oversee the set-up and delivery of the London 50L Home pilot - engaging with the coalition partners; solution providers, public participants and with national and local stakeholders to deliver a home water (and energy) retrofit pilot project ensuring that it progresses to programme and budget.
The role would start as soon as possible and run for 30 months. The Programme Manager would be hosted within Waterwise - engaged by us on either a fixed term contract or a long-term secondment into Waterwise.
Key Responsibilities

Project Planning: work with the 50L Home Coalition to develop and maintain a Research Plan detailing the tasks, resources, governance, budgets and timeline required for the successful implementation of the pilot.

Project Management: undertake day-to-day project management of the pilot, including oversight of subcontractors and consultants; Pilot budget and spend tracking and participant, partner and stakeholder management

Contract Management: set up contracts and manage the key suppliers and subcontractors needed to deliver the project (e.g. Installation Manager, Behaviour Change Manager, Data Manager)

Participant Enrolment: Work with partner organisations to recruit the participants taking part in the pilot

Monitoring Device Installation: Work with an installation partner to ensure that all the homes in the pilot have had water and energy monitoring devices installed

Participant Surveys: Work with a behaviour change partner organisation before, during and after the pilot to survey project participants to assess their knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding water conservation as well as their experiences with the consumables provided and fittings installed

Provision of Consumable Devices and Fittings: liaise with the 50L Home Coalition to agree the consumables and fittings to be used and arrange for their installation in a selection of the pilot homes working with an installation partner

Progress Reporting: provide regular progress reports and updates and take part in regular project management calls with the 50L Home team and project sponsors

Final Reporting: lead the preparation of a report that presents the findings and learnings from the pilot in terms of both awareness and behavioural changes and water and energy saved

Dissemination: support the 50L Coalition partners in disseminating information about the pilot and its learnings

Bid Support: Support the 50L Home Coalition in bidding for funding to extend the pilot

Person Specification
We need someone who is proactive and a self-starter, with excellent communication and organisational skills. You will have a track record in successful Programme Management. Experience in managing home efficiency retrofit programmes would also be very relevant to this role and should be brought out in your application using examples.

Eligibility to work in the UK
You will be working closely with the 50L Home Coalition Partners, some of whom are based outside the UK. Whilst the bulk of the role will be able to be undertaken in normal UK working hours (e.g. 9am to 5pm), some flexibility will be needed to engage with partners in any planned meetings that fall outside of these hours.
Please note that at Waterwise we work a Four Day Week, under voluntary agreements which all staff members sign. This means that you will be contracted and paid as full-time but you will sign a voluntary agreement stating that you commit to employing efficiency tools both individual and team-wide to deliver and be paid for 5 days work within four normal 9 to 5 days - the office is closed on Fridays. Training will be provided and you will be expected to continue to refresh your training and to keep up use of the efficiency tools. Annual leave is also pro rata’d. The 50L Home is a holistic vision to transform building systems and communities for a water-efficient and low carbon future. Their vision is a future where 50L (13 gallons) of daily water consumption per person per day feels like 500L (132 gallons) at low carbon. The Coalition brings companies, civil society organizations, intergovernmental organisations, local governments and knowledge leaders together to develop, scale and implement innovations for systems level change in domestic urban water management as well as responsible and highly efficient water and energy usage in the home.

About the Team
The WaterAid Programme Support and Knowledge (PSK) team provides technical advisory expertise across programme design and delivery. It leads and supports organisation-wide programme learning and knowledge management, and facilitates knowledge exchange, fosters and supports internal and external programme and technical partnerships and networks.
The Systems Strengthening Senior Advisor is a senior position in the WASH Systems & Programme Partnerships sub-team, focused on advising and supporting the evolution of WaterAid’s systems strengthening approach across all of its work in the WASH and the public health arenas. It also facilitates and provides support for programmatic partnerships, including with utilities.
About the Role
As our Systems Strengthening Senior Advisor, you will strategically lead and shape systems strengthening approach conceptualisation and operationalisation in WaterAid. In this role, you will provide high quality specialist technical analysis, advisory, and support services to the design, inception, implementation, troubleshooting, monitoring, and/or assessments of WaterAid’s programming worldwide, at both strategic and operational levels. In collaboration with country, regional and global colleagues, you will co-lead the facilitation of effective capturing and exchange of technical and programme knowledge across the organisation and co-lead the development of relevant standards and guidance. You will also provide strategic and technical input to fundraising, communications, and external engagements.
The Systems Strengthening senior advisor reports to the WASH Systems & Programme Partnerships Senior Manager and their key accountabilities are:
- Provide and coordinate targeted technical support to WaterAid programming to ensure coherent integration of a systems approach into various thematic areas and related interventions.
- Strategically support programme learning and knowledge management on systems related topics
- Steer and strategically support development and application of systems-related programme guidance and standards
- Strategically support fundraising, external engagement, and communications for WaterAid’s positioning and strategy resourcing.
- Provide strategic technical insights and contribution to the team, translated into effective annual priorities, plans and budgets - fully integrated within PSK’s overall plan and linked to the organisational priorities.
Requirements
To be successful, you’ll need:
Essential skills
- Strong technical experience in systems thinking, systems strengthening, system dynamics, complexity, programmatic approach, adaptive management, sustainability, and other inter-related topics for WASH programming in both urban and rural, low-income settings, demonstrated through a progressive career record.
- Relevant technical experience in sustainable development, water, sanitation, hygiene, behaviour change, gender, inclusion, environment and/or other WASH-related topics.
- A relevant post-Graduate degree or equivalent work experience.
- Strong experience in offering technical assistance, consulting, and/or advisory services to empower and to develop capacities in low and middle-income countries.
- Ability to handle highly specialized, unusual, and challenging technical assignments, resolve complex issues in practical and imaginative ways.
- Strong writing ability in English. Experienced in producing practical knowledge products targeting needs of diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to drive tasks forward to completion in a timely manner while maintaining high quality.
- A team player, able to work responsibly, under pressure, and collaboratively across diverse groups and culture.
- A self-starter, able to work independently and drive tasks forward to completion, escalating issues where appropriate.

Growing our income generation
We are currently recruiting for two roles in our fundraising team. Our other role is a Grants and Trusts Manager and is focused on grants and trusts fundraising. Both of these roles are part time. We have written them separately as we believe that typically these are two different skill sets within the fundraising space.
However, if you believe that you have strength in both areas, we'd love to hear from you. We are very open to discussing combining the roles into one full time role. A combined role would involve hybrid working including travel to our London and Brighton sites and candidates would need to be comfortable in having a broad generalist role. Both skill sets would be tested at interview. If you would like to be considered for the combined role, please specify this in your cover letter.

Job Description
The purpose of this role is to raise LMK’s profile and to engage LMK’s stakeholders in our services, campaigns and fundraising efforts by delivering impactful content across all of our online and offline communication channels in alignment with our vision, mission and strategic objectives. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for creating quality communications, you will lead our PR and media work, be skilled in creating engaging video content and add your expertise to developing and delivering our social media, website and stakeholder communications.
Reporting to our CEO, the successful candidate will job-share with our established 2 day-per week Marketing & Communications Manager. As a member of LMK’s core staff team, you will work with LMK staff, LMK Leaders (youth workers who deliver our workshops to young people), members of our Youth Advisory Board, trustees and key stakeholders to develop and implement our brand, marketing and social media strategy.

- Lead the planning and execution of PR and media campaigns, leveraging media contacts, ensuring LMK has engaging media materials and our spokespeople are fully prepared to maximise media opportunities

Communications, Content Development & Execution
- Co-ownership of the execution of all communications and content development
- Lead on the creation of engaging video content that can be used across communications platforms
- Working with the wider team, produce communications materials for supporters and key stakeholders in conjunction with the fundraising team
- Source and write up regular impact stories from across the organisation that reflect our strategic objectives which can be used in a variety of channels
- Be responsible for tracking the impact of marketing & communications, sharing reports with the team and Board of Trustees
Digital
- Grow and expand LMK’s social media presence onto new platforms (e.g. TikTok, SnapChat, Bluesky) whilst expanding existing presence on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn
- Monitor social channels daily, checking for messages/comments
- Co-manage the website as a key marketing channel, creating engaging content, optimising for SEO, overseeing website design updates, coordinating with developers on technical aspects, and analysing website traffic

Person specification
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience of developing messages/content for different audiences effectively and across different platforms including social media, websites, newsletters and emails
- Evidence of success in developing and executing PR strategies, including securing and maximising media opportunities
- Highly organised to manage a diverse workload with excellent time management and project management skills
- Experience of using a social media management tools e.g. Buffer, Asana, Hootsuite and communications tools e.g. Mailchimp
- Experience in creating and editing video content, using Canva or an equivalent design programme
- A knowledge of the Violence Against Women and Girls sector, Education sector or working with young people would be preferable, although not essential

About the role:
The Deputy Chief Executive role is a critical leadership role for the Charity. They are looking for someone who has strong relationship management experience, the ability to deliver and implement ideas, confidence in navigating in the complex political arena as well as being flexible and reactive to the changing needs of the organisation’s membership.
The role holder will deputise for the Charity Chief Executive providing strategic leadership and effective governance of the Charity, its Trading Arm, and all Shared Services.
The Deputy Chief Executive will oversee Union Development and Talent work to support students’ unions in line with the their Charity Strategy. They will also be responsible for supporting the strategic work around Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion. The Charity adopt a flexible approach to line management and project management. Other direct reporting lines and key projects will be agreed based on strengths and experience. For example, if the successful candidate has a strong commercial background, they may also be asked to line manage the Trading Support function.
