We are seeking an experienced, passionate and creative Director of Strategic Communications. As a member of the Senior Management Team, you will help provide collective leadership, advice and challenge to UKCF, and take responsibility for leading the delivery of our internal and external communication functions. About the role
This is a new role that follows a decision to focus our new organisational strategy for 2024-2027 on growing our external influence and that of our network of 47 community foundations across the UK.

Purpose: To enhance UKCF's communications, brand and external influence in order to engage and inspire key audiences, thereby supporting the effectiveness of our business development, grant programmes and strategic delivery.

Internal strategic communications
Key responsibilities:

Line management of the Communications and Marketing Manager, as well as any other staff or contractors that are recruited on a temporary or permanent basis.

Manage UKCF’s communication and marketing budget, continuously seeking ways to improve efficiency and impact of investment.

Support a culture of continuous learning across UKCF, building confidence and skills in the team to effectively communicate our messages on external channels and to our members.

Contribute to the successful delivery of key events including biannual conferences, webinars and in-person policy and learning events, supporting the work of our Membership Team and Senior Management Team to engage our network and funders.

About the role
The service offers peer-led self-management and physical activity courses both within communities and online. Courses are designed to support people to develop the confidence, knowledge, and skills to live well with their condition.
You will help us to develop and pilot services for young people transitioning from our Young People and families service to adult services.
You will help us to ensure our services reach diverse communities in the North West, by co-producing resources and testing ways of working.
You will co-ordinate all aspects of the Versus Arthritis service, including recruiting volunteers, course promotion and building relationships in the community. You will be responsible for supporting volunteers to deliver services, as well as monitoring and evaluation so that we can effectively demonstrate the impact the service is making.

EduSpots is an innovative, dynamic, and community-driven UK and Ghanaian registered charity which connects, trains, and equips voluntary community educators to drive community-led change through education spaces named ‘Spots’. Our vision is of our world where communities unite to create the futures they want to see, through education.
Since 2016, through collaborating with over 300 local volunteers, who take a central leadership role in the development of the network, we have supported 50 communities in creating and running community-led and owned education spaces named ‘Spots’’. About this role
Following the significant development of EduSpots’ income and activities in the last year, we are looking for an experienced finance and operations professional to provide exceptional support to the Chief Executive Officer, Head of Development, and Head of Operations (Ghana-based) to ensure the development of robust financial and operational systems, policies and processes.
The candidate can work from any location, but will have a strong knowledge of UK law and charity accounting in an international development charity context. You will be a self-starter, able to work independently on tasks assigned, whilst proactively suggesting improvements to our systems, policies and wider strategic development.
We are looking for a team player with a genuine desire to contribute to greater educational equity, with a strong personal alignment to our organizational values of teamwork, care, play, passion, community leadership and sustainable impact.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Work with the UK Finance Officer (volunteer) and Ghana based Finance Manager and Head of Operations to oversee global finances, so that consolidated management accounts and donor financial reports can be produced.
- Support with the roll-out of new accounting software and reviewing intercompany financial processes to ensure accountability and compliance with recognised accounting standards.
- Support with bank account management and reviewing funds transfers.
- In future, possibly manage staff payroll, including tax and pension contributions.
- Oversee the onboarding and screening of new staff, contractors or volunteers in the UK and other locations outside Ghana, including reference checks, criminal records checks, preparing contracts, etc.
- Review and keep organisational policies and procedures (including staff handbook) up to date, staying abreast of any changes in the wider external legal and operating environment.

GGF applies a participatory and decentralised model in making grants to grassroots groups through regional and thematic boards of advisors, global partner networks and independent funds, to support grassroots environmental and social justice action. The role
Global Greengrants Fund UK is looking to hire an energetic and passionate individual who will play a key role in establishing and developing Global Greengrants Fund UK’s Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) work. The new role of MEAL Officer will undertake high-quality data management and analysis to produce key learnings on the outcomes of GGF’s grantmaking and other programmatic activity, as well as leading system improvements to our evolving monitoring, evaluation and learning framework in collaboration with global colleagues. They will be providing support to the emerging global learning function, and the role will support the delivery of learning activities across our network to develop clear briefs, learnings and findings that can be used by other functions, including the Communications and Philanthropic Partnerships teams, to strengthen the organisation’s external and internal engagement and knowledge sharing activities. This will include developing appropriate methodologies and tools to collate, validate, summarise, analyse and report on key trends within our grantmaking using and improving on a range of data sources including grantee application forms and reports. Working as part of the UK Programme Support function and reporting to the Deputy Executive Director, the post holder will also collaborate closely with colleagues across the global organisation Global Greengrants Fund, particularly within the Programmes, Communications, and Learning teams towards realising organisational aims.
The candidate profile
The successful applicant will have significant relevant experience in a similar role in a charitable, environmental, development, and/or grant-making organisation. They will be an experienced, senior-level specialist with a strong track record in data collection, monitoring and analysis, with good working knowledge of a range of qualitative and quantitative methodologies, tools and systems, and in using this information to evaluate and recommend adaptations, and in reporting. Higher-level qualifications/certification in a relevant field, post-graduate qualification would be a distinct advantage, particularly in the social sciences and/or use of mixed method approaches. Purpose of the role

Key Activities

Following its successful relaunch, the Air Cadet Charity is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Finance Manager capable of running the financial processes of this young and vibrant charity in order to help it achieve its aims of supporting and developing the young people of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The Air Cadet Charity, until now, has had to rely on donations with a limited range of activities but Trustees have decided to expand our activities, diversify our income generation and build a capable, respectful and highly successful staff team. The role will focus on all aspects of financial management from book-keeping to preparing end of year accounts and everything in between as well as liaising with the auditors. Our policy is to spend all that we earn and to dip into our capital if required. Annual expenditure and income is around £900,000 each year and our aim is to increase this to around £1,500,000 by 2029. The successful applicant will have tried and tested book-keeping and financial control and management skills gained through qualification and or proven experience.
The role will work directly to the Charity Director, will suit someone who is able to work as the sole financial management expert – although there may be scope to increase our resources as our ambition grows – and not be afraid of hard work and added responsibility.
