The Role

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Strategy Development and Execution

About the Role

As the Durham Service Manager you will oversee the successful operation of supported accommodation providing an assessment, support and move on service to young people at risk of homelessness – creating a safe and engaging environment that individuals feel proud to call home. 

You will work across the Bishop Auckland Supported Accommodation service and the Dispersed Accommodation service based in Tow Law managing a team of Progression Coaches, Night Progression Coaches and Outreach Workers. You will support and guide the team in providing targeted support for clients and take responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of all young people, volunteers, staff and the building in the service. Additionally, you will ensure the service meets all the relevant regulatory and quality standards, including compliance with Ofsted requirements to maintain the highest level of care and support.

Key responsibilities include:

About the role:

BACKGROUND

The Donor Conception Network is a charity offering support to families (and prospective families) who are using a donor (egg, sperm or embryo) to conceive their children.

This is a really exciting time for the charity and a great moment to join us as we build on our 30th Anniversary last year. We recently launched a new website that has upgraded our online presence, giving you a great new platform to utilise as part of raising awareness of our services and resources. As marketing manager, you will work to improve and extend our communications with our stakeholders to increase visibility and awareness of the Network’s unique offer and its value.  This is a hands-on role, and you will have the support of our current digital consultant.

The marketing manager is responsible for creating and delivering a cohesive marketing and communications strategy that:

• Grows membership, book sales and event bookings;
• Improves communications with our stakeholders to increase visibility and awareness of the Network’s unique offer and value.  This includes traditional offline channels but also across our digital platforms too, including Google, social media and email;
• Raises the profile of DCN, strengthens our brand and cements our position as the leading voice for the donor conception community;

CORE DUTIES

• Marketing and communications strategy: create and deliver a marketing and communications strategy including an annual plan and tactics delivery;
• Social media: develop a social media strategy that integrates with the overarching marketing plan.
• You will work with the digital consultant to execute this strategy, ensuring it aligns with our organisational goals and strengthens our brand presence.
• Website content management: ensure the DCN website is an effective and persuasive marketing tool. Assess options for additional functionality, and ensure content remains up to date.
• Brand and reputation management: use marketing and communications tools and opportunities to ensure the DCN brand is well known and respected in the fertility space
• Media and PR: maximise relevant opportunities to promote the Network and raise awareness of, and interest in, our organisation.
• Metrics: put in place tools and metrics to help us quantify the success of the above marketing strategies.
• Assist in other areas as needed, including at our events.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

· Excellent written and communication skills

· A motivated self-starter, able to juggle a varied workload and see projects through to completion

· Ability to work independently

· At least 5 years in a relevant role

· Digital, social media and website skills and experience

· Attention to detail

· Interest in the subject of donor conception

· Comfortable working with a small team in a small office

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an eLearning Manager to join our team. This position is based in the Education Innovation Department.

Working alongside the other eLearning Manager, this role is jointly responsible to the Head of Education Innovation for the day-to-day management of the eLearning team and the College’s learning platform, RCOG Learning.  In collaboration with subject matter experts you will focus on developing new high-quality online learning resources and on quality assuring existing content to ensure that it is regularly reviewed, updated and evaluated. You will play a key role in ensuring that the College’s product offerings on the new LMS continue to expand and that available functionality on the platform is fully utilised. 

Responsibilities:

• Manage the quality assurance process for existing eLearning resources
• Ensure the eLearning platform runs well, discussing issues and potential new developments with the eLearning website developers.
• Advise and provide editorial oversight to eLearning resources to ensure scientific and grammatical accuracy.
• To develop a range of new products and services for the RCOG Learning platform to agreed standards and procedures.

We are looking for someone with:

• Demonstrated ability of managing the development of eLearning products from start to finish
• Demonstrated experience of managing an eLearning platform
• Experience of copy-editing and proofreading in a scientific or medical publishing environment, to ensure clinical accuracy of content produced

About CARIS Families

CARIS Families is a small, frontline charity that supports families who are homeless and living in overcrowded multi-occupant hostels in the London Boroughs of Hackney and Camden. Life in temporary accommodation hostels entrenches children and their parents in poverty and disadvantage. Families suffer from acute overcrowding, inadequate basic facilities and a permanent sense of unsafety. The nature of hostel life isolates people from their support networks, decimates their physical and mental health and becomes an adverse life experience in itself for families already suffering the trauma of having become homeless.

CARIS Families exists to provide early intervention to mitigate the worst effects of hostel life and homelessness for children and parents in our four target hostels. We do this by providing hands-on play, learning and social activities to help children meet their potential, improve families’ wellbeing and build their support network.  We provide a holistic family support service that case-works with each family individually to reduce financial and other pressures on them as they wait for a permanent home.  We also use our data and learned experiences about temporary accommodation to join campaigns for reform to temporary accommodation policy and practice, both locally and nationally.

We have just received funding to employ a dedicated Housing Rights Manager for the next two years. This is an exciting addition to our team, as it will be our first staff member dedicated to helping our homeless families with their housing case. The housing system is notoriously opaque: families tell us it can be a hopeless minefield to navigate independently and that they often can’t access meaningful help with it, resulting in years-long hostel stays. Our Housing Rights Manager will step into the gap and work with families on an individual basis to gain the information and support they need to progress their housing case and expedite their move-on into a suitable home.

About the role

Our Housing Rights Manager will be a key member of our Family Support Service. They will manage a weekly drop-in clinic from within the hostels where they will assess new housing cases and develop a support plan with families. They will manage a full housing caseload of housing support work, collaborating with relevant local groups, local authority partners and law centres to progress families’ housing cases. They will learn from the barriers families tell us they face, develop CARIS Families’ housing advice service in response and use these learnings to contribute to campaigns for reform to temporary accommodation practices and policies locally and nationally.

In their first year, the Housing Rights Manager will work in partnership with housing solicitors at Shelter to write a Housing Information and Rights handbook tailored to the processes of our target boroughs. The handbook will aim to demystify the temporary accommodation system in our two boroughs, explain residents’ legal rights and help them understand their options. It will form a key part of the support we can offer and allow us to reach many more families in hostels than our small staff team can individually casework with.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a committed staff team of just 5, working in a person-centred and community-minded way to make a real difference to families on the frontline of inner-London’s housing crisis.
