Room to Heal is an established therapeutic community in London. We support refugees and people seeking asylum, many of whom are torture survivors, through an integrated programme of therapeutic and casework assistance, in the context of a community of survivors. Our approach recognises the political context of our community members’ multiple and ongoing experiences of trauma and marginalisation including in their home country, on their journey to, and within, the UK. We offer long term and holistic support.

We are a small team of committed and hard working individuals who work collaboratively in a supportive and friendly environment.

We are looking for a Director (maternity cover) who:

• Understands the experiences of our members in order to sustain Room to Heal’s therapeutic community and ensure the safety and appropriateness of all of our services
• Has awareness and interest in psychotherapy and group work
• Makes strategic decisions that centre the experience of refugees and people seeking asylum alongside maintaining the sustainability of the organisation
• Has the drive, care and vision to create new opportunities to support refugees and people seeking asylum and to learn and share experiences through external networks and partnerships in the UK and internationally 
• Is able to speak with authenticity and challenge injustices knowing directly what the impact is due to own lived experience
• Can lead by consensus and collaboration and has a strong belief in the therapeutic benefits of community. 

Hours:  7.5 hours per day (typically 9.30am – 5.30 pm with a half hour for lunch) 5 days a week. We will also consider 4 days per week, salary pro-rata’d

Salary: £45,000 - 50,000 per annum (full time salary)

Start-date: Autumn 2024 with 8-10 weeks handover with the current Director 

Pension and benefits: automatic enrolment pension scheme, 4% employer contributions and 4% employee contributions

Main purposes of the job:
To plan, organise and facilitate volunteering sessions and community courses which may include weekend volunteering sessions, and corporate volunteer workdays.

To involve the diverse local community of Hackney and neighbouring boroughs in activities at St Mary’s Secret Garden with an emphasis on individuals and communities who may otherwise be excluded, particularly disabled and learning-disabled people, and people with mental ill health and long-term health conditions.

To use horticulture and other knowledge relating to growing and caring for plants, nature conservation, garden maintenance and landscaping to engage with people, encourage learning and promote health and wellbeing.

To promote the social, therapeutic and training aspects of horticulture to community groups, and individuals in the London Borough of Hackney and beyond.

To work flexibly and independently within our small team to support each other, to assist with the physical maintenance and general organisation of the St Mary’s Secret Garden ensuring that the garden is cared for, open and accessible to the wider local community.

To proactively develop SMSG as a resource for the local community, creating and facilitating new projects.

Salary - £28,300 per annum, plus pensions & benefits

Hours - 36 hours (net) with evening and weekend working

Location – Home-based within 45 minutes of Winchester in Hampshire, looking after churches in Berkshire, Dorset and Hampshire

This is a fundamental role within our West regional team, internally the role is known as Local Community Officer.

The Churches Conservation Trust works with communities to look after 357 historic churches, over two million visitors annually and hundreds of events both private and public.

These ancient, listed sites are among the most beautiful locations in England.

You’ll be visiting sites in your patch regularly, encouraging new supporters, holding local meetings, and raising funds to meet each building’s unique needs. Sharing progress through a growing church plan for each of the 22 churches in your area, you’ll ensure these buildings thrive as beautifully maintained visitor attractions, as venues for events and as central parts of village, town or city life.

You’ll be supported by our team of experts, including fundraising, conservation, and learning and by our large network of church supporters.

Lambourne End Centre are looking to recruit a Fundraising and Marketing Coordinator.  The post holder will be responsible for raising revenue and capital funds primarily from trusts, companies and through organising fundraising events to support the work of the Centre. They will also be required to promote the Centre to potential funders, user groups and the public, especially via the Centre’s website and social media channels.  Candidates will need to demonstrate that they can think creatively, use initiative and work productively with colleagues.  They need to have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to enthuse others.

This exciting opportunity will ideally suit someone at the early stages of their career in charity fundraising.

The post will be based on a 35 hour week, but will involve flexible working including occasional evenings and weekends.

Lambourne End Centre is a fantastic 54 acre site in south west Essex full of opportunity.  The Centre boasts residential accommodation and training facilities, adventure activities, and a working farm and gardens with dedicated environmental areas.  These are used to generate a wide range of programmes  to improve health and wellbeing and promote personal development, especially for those who struggle in mainstream environments.

A little bit about the role 

We seek a graduate with excellent communication skills for our Recruitment team. You must be able to manage data, multitask, and adapt to dynamic environments. Enhance Frontline’s social worker training selection process with autonomy and a commitment to continuous improvement.

The Recruitment team is responsible for sourcing, selecting and hiring for 500 places for Approach Social Work (previously known as the Frontline programme) in local authorities across England.

We think the internship at Frontline is unlike other internships. You’ll be given plenty of opportunity to develop key skills for your future career, while also holding a core role within the team. You will be joining us at our busiest time and so will have day to day coordinator responsibilities throughout the year. This makes it a great first step into your career as you’ll have real practical examples to take forward. You will work with the Selection Manager and Selection Officers to ensure the delivery of a highly effective and efficient recruitment process and to ensure the candidate experience is positive throughout.

Some key responsibilities include:

• Facilitate at Approach Social Work assessment centres, supporting assessors and sharing responsibility for ensuring days run smoothly and consistently​
• Manage the logistics involved in planning and delivering over 40 assessment centre days (e.g. responding to candidate queries, monitoring candidate sign up, scheduling assessors)​
• Act as first point of contact for candidates experiencing technical difficulties with IT systems used as part of selection process.

PROJECT MANAGER
THE ABBEY OF ST EDMUND: A MILLENNIUM OF ENGLISH HISTORY IN WEST SUFFOLK

Thanks to National Lottery players, St Edmundsbury Cathedral, in partnership with West Suffolk Council and English Heritage, has received a Development Phase grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund to conserve the Abbey of St Edmund ruins, deliver universal access through a network of footpaths, and build a heritage welcome centre within a line of listed buildings facing the town’s public space.

We are now looking for a Project Manager to co-ordinate and assist in the management of the development phase, which will last until February 2026. If we are successful in our delivery phase application, the role will continue for a further three years. We’re looking for someone with:

• Similar project management experience, at a comparable level of cost and complexity, especially working on Heritage Fund projects.

• Experience of working on projects with complex structures (we have three project partners: St Edmundsbury Cathedral, English Heritage and West Suffolk Council).
• A good understanding of audiences for heritage to enable activity planning and audience development to take place alongside the capital and design works.

Flexible working, but must be on site at least 2 days a week.

The role of a Community Fundraising Executive is raising charitable donations, by building meaningful and engaging relationships to work with the communities we serve in the West Midlands. This is an exciting new role within the fundraising and communications team and we are seeking an energetic, confident and proactive fundraiser to join our team.  This role will require a lot of travel and focuses specifically on developing our education, clubs and faith groups fundraising income streams. The role will be a stimulating and inspiring opportunity for an experienced equality and discrimination lawyer to work pro actively and strategically to use the law as a tool for change. 

BEO is a civil rights charity that was set up to challenge and dismantle systemic racism. We work with Black communities by using campaigning, policy and research in conjunction with the law to effect meaningful change. 
Legal services are central to BEO. We are therefore looking for someone of 4yrs PQE who has experience in social welfare, human rights, public and administration law and who seeks an opportunity to use those skills specifically in the area of challenging systemic racism. 

In the last year we have been developing our relationships with partner organisations, ranging from community groups, our stakeholder law firms, NGOs and law firms experienced in equality and discrimination law, to deliver legal services. The role holder will be required to build on and expand these relationships so that BEO can offer quality legal advice to Back communities in the nations and regions across the United Kingdom. 
We are building our internal legal team so that we can provide targeted legal support to Black communities. We are looking for someone to work with the Director of Legal Services and Policy to ensure that high quality legal advice, support and representation are the hallmark of BEO. 

Apart from delivering targeted legal advice and representation and identifying and running strategic litigation cases, the role holder will be required to think creatively to assist in fundraising and campaigning to develop a sustainable legal service. BEO does not have a Legal Aid Agency contract so self funds all legal work. BEO is a small team, so the role holder must have the skills and confidence to work on their own initiative as well as with members of other teams in BEO.

The Model of Care and Quality Improvement Officer role is all about making sure that the care and support models developed and implemented by the National Gambling Support Network (NGSN) are effective, efficient and of high quality. The post holder will support the work around the current and ongoing development of the model of care to make sure that the NGSN is delivering against best practice and evidence-based interventions, supporting quality improvement.  

You'll be working with the Quality and Performance Manager and providers to: 

• Develop and implement an NGSN model of care. 
• Monitor quality and performance standards as part of the commissioning process.
• Support the tracking of the evaluation and delivery of related project milestones.
• Work with colleagues so that findings of good practice and/or lessons learnt are built into future service planning, delivery, and improvement.

This role has been benchmarked at a UK salary of GBP 75,000 (pro rata for a part time position). Candidates based outside of the UK will be offered comparable compensation either through an Employer of Record or consultancy contract, depending on their location. Just for Kids Law (JfKL) works with and for children and young people to hold those with power to account and fight for wider reform. They do this by providing legal representation and advice, strategic litigation, campaigning, and equipping others to work for children’s rights.

They’ve achieved some incredible reforms that make a big difference to the lives of children and young people, including changes to the law on criminal records, which resulted in thousands of young people not being held back from fulfilling their potential, and ensuring that 17-year-olds are always treated as children in police custody. Additionally, JfKL hosts The Children’s Rights Alliance for England (CRAE), which works with around 100 members to promote children’s rights and monitor government implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
