THE ROLE 

We have a fantastic opportunity to join us in the position of Project Development Co-ordinator, to work on either a full or part time basis. Job Share applications are also welcome.

Covering the operational, strategic and delivery of work we are looking for a Project Development Co-ordinator to operate across the South-East, within Kent or with the ability to travel across Kent. Travel within and occasionally outside the regions will be a necessity. 

This post provides an exciting and rewarding opportunity to supervise, deliver and lead on our stakeholder and community engagement across a region to support the delivery of NEA’s work programme.  The role will help deliver projects that can change lives, particularly during the energy crisis.  NEA’s project work aims to bring improvements to the health and wellbeing of low income and vulnerable householders, through one-to-one advice, group awareness sessions, upskilling and sharing of best practice.

Delivering on a range or projects, which demonstrate good practice in delivery of affordable warmth for low income and vulnerable householders, you will understand and drive the development of partnerships working with local authorities, housing providers, and various other partners.

 You will oversee the delivery of project outputs and outcomes, delivering energy and fuel debt advice directly to householders and be responsible for the preparation of reports to funders including collation of evidence of outcomes achieved; maintaining relationships with a network of stakeholders across a region. 

You will also work with the Project Development Manager to identify and develop new programmes of work, including preparation of funding applications, presentation of funding proposals to relevant funding bodies and to ensure effective liaison of NEA’s work programme with other activities within NEA.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED 

You will have demonstrable experience of developing and/or managing projects in the fields of energy efficiency, community development and regeneration, housing, social policy or consumer issues.

It is important that you have an awareness of the environmental, social and economic problems of deprived areas and the roles of the public, private and voluntary sectors in tackling them.

You will need good organisational skills, as well as excellent written and communication skills, as you will maintain appropriate records and data, and produce regular written reports on project progress.

You will be an excellent communicator, with experience and understanding of how to effectively address the energy needs of low income, vulnerable or disadvantaged householders - with the desire to make a positive difference to people’s lives;

Knowledge of energy efficiency, particularly within the domestic sector and community buildings, is desirable.

• £32,641 to £37,304 (FTE) – Salary Grade SO1 – SO2, Points 23 – 28. Staff usually commence at the starting point of the scale

WHAT WE DO

Young people from lower income families are 40% less likely to go to University than wealthier peers (Dept for Education, 2020) which can have a lifelong impact on earning potential. Covid-19 has deepened inequalities (Social Mobility Foundation, 2022) and negatively impacted on young people's wellbeing (GirlGuiding, 2020). We believe that no girls should have their futures limited by their gender, sex, ethnicity, background, or parental income and they should be supported to realise their ambitions, to discover their self-worth, and to develop their capacity to shape their world and their futures.

We work in communities of least advantage across England to deliver two core programmes to achieve this vision. Through our mentoring programme we connect 14-19 year old girls with a mentor and a wider network of role models who are women and deliver opportunities which help them to build life skills and nurture their ambitions. Based on the idea that 'you can't be what you can't see', our mentors often help girls to broaden their horizons and create a more positive vision of their futures. After the programme, the mentees can join a free, lifelong network of support - our Ambassador Community, which offers further opportunities to reach their goals, build their confidence and to share their voices and experiences.

Our programmes help girls and young women to develop the knowledge, skills, self-belief and opportunities to thrive, and to be supported as part of a network that champions them and ensures their voices are heard.

THE ROLE

Purpose: To manage the effective implementation of programme delivery and development of Merseyside, Tyne and Wear, and Tees Valley Regions. This role will work with staff, schools and corporate partners to ensure that we deliver impact for the girls and young women we serve.

Manage The Girls’ Network mentoring (and other) programmes in your region:

Partnership development:

• Develop effective partnerships with new schools, recruiting them into The Girls’ Network’s programme to enable your team to meet regional targets. Maintaining relationships for successful renewals.
• Collaborate with fundraising colleagues during the engagement process of new corporate partners, to ensure regional targets and needs are met e.g. income, mentor numbers, programme content.
• Oversee delivery of mentor opportunities for the region’s corporate partnerships, ensuring Memorandum of Understanding are met, referring any issues of concern to the Fundraising team for support and guidance.
• Provide relevant information to fundraising and Monitoring Evaluation Research and Learning colleagues on any Tier 1 partners in the region, to enable production of evaluation reports
• Lead on delivery of the region’s awareness events, acting as the key contact person.
• Collaborate with the Fundraising & Communications team on key campaigns, e.g. International Womens’ Day, to reach key audiences and help build awareness and support income generation.

Mentor Community Development:

• Work with programme colleagues and the fundraising team to identify regional mentoring needs and coordinate the implementation of a mentor recruitment and engagement plan in your region, ensuring your region has an appropriate amount of mentors to run programmes.
• Lead on the implementation and delivery of the region’s events, acting as the key contact person.

Safeguarding support and leadership:

• Provide day-to-day safeguarding support for the Programme team in the North of the country – escalating issues to the Safeguarding lead where appropriate.
• Provide feedback on key safeguarding risks or issues, and needs for development or training to the Safeguarding Lead

Monitoring and evaluation:

• Oversee the collection of regional data and ensure that your staff keep Salesforce up to date with mentee, mentor, schools and partners relationships to effectively track the progress, and impact of mentoring relationships.
• Periodically evaluate and report on the progress and impact of The Girls’ Network initiatives in the region.
• Hold overall responsibility for regional targets, reporting to Senior Leadership Team.
• Manage and allocate the budget for the mentoring programme in the region, to cover workshops, celebration events, travel etc

Line Management of region’s Network Managers:

• Manage Network Managers in the region, through regular 1:1s and accountability of reporting.
• Support the wellbeing and professional development of your regional team.
• Cover or support with programme delivery when needed.

Grow our network in your region:

• Identify opportunities for growth in North region and work with Senior Leadership Team to develop regional strategy
• Advocate and promote The Girls’ Network at every opportunity to raise awareness of the charity and encourage community members to become mentors

Programme Leadership within The Girls’ Network Team:

Learning & Development

• Provide shadowing opportunities to Network Managers in other regions.
• As agreed with the Co-Executive Director - Programmes (Interim), travel to other regions to provide targeted training to other Network Managers.
• Coordinate Network Managers’ induction and recruitment.
• Contribute to The Girls’ Network culture of shared learning

Responsibility for an additional workstream:

• Each senior network manager is responsible for progressing aspects of programme workstream to timelines agreed with the accountable member of Senior Leadership Team. These may vary with need over time. Workstream to be agreed with Line Manager, but may include worksteams such as:
• Programme Process and Resource Development
• Safeguarding
• Sales Development etc

We are looking for 2 part time Information & Advocacy Community Support Workers in Scotland, one based in North Scotland (Inverness area due to travel requirements and location of NHS services) and one based in Central Scotland.

You will ensure that service users (children and adults) and their families, receive high quality support, from the point of diagnosis and throughout their journey, and will assist them to access funding, equipment and care and support that they are entitled to. The role will be primarily home based, but there will also be a requirement to attend outpatient clinics within the region, attend home visits where appropriate and to support responding to queries through the helpline and information inbox. We have supported over 48,000 animals and built two dog shelters and one for disabled and senior cats. About the Role

This role will be responsible for developing the vision and direction of the Communication and Marketing Strategy but will fundamentally be an operational management delivery role. Responsible for developing and rolling out a multi‐channel communication and marketing strategy that will:

• raise the profile of the charity by communicating news about projects, programmes, and partnerships on social channels, on online and print media outlets, TV networks,
• deliver communications to generate sales to secure a pipeline of farm residential visit bookings from beneficiary groups (being children from schools in disadvantaged communities, youth groups, young carers, children in care, etc) across England and Wales.
• secure income from fundraising by communicating the charity’s mission, vision, and values to donors, funders, trusts and foundations, and corporate partners.

The successful applicant will have considerable experience of developing and delivering a communication and marketing strategy as well as experience of designing and delivering multi-channel sales and marketing campaigns. Excellent people skills are key, as you will need to build strong relationships with a range of stakeholders.

Key areas of responsibility include:

• Raising the profile of the Charity by devising and implementing a beneficiary‐focused communications strategy that supports both the sales and fundraising function, including print, social, and online communications that target teachers and other adults who are key decision makers for our beneficiaries.
• Developing and embedding an integrated communications and marketing strategy to deliver the ambitions of the Business plan, to reach new markets and successfully translate connections into bookings (‘sales’) or generate income from funders to support fundraising.
• Leading on the management and development of all channels of communication for the Charity: social media, website, YouTube channel, print media.

This position is home based but you will be required to travel to our farms and Head Office based in Exeter as required in order to fulfil the role.

This is a great opportunity to make your mark on a fantastic community project as part of a small and friendly team. Using your excellent organisation and communication skills, you will support the existing Community RePaint (CRP) schemes and help to develop new schemes in order to substantially increase the volumes of paint collected and redistributed in local communities across the UK. You will promote and raise awareness of CRP online across multiple platforms, develop the CRP brand, lead on communications, and assist with promoting ReColour remanufactured paint. You will work with community organisations, paint manufacturers, retailers, businesses, decorators, and housing associations across the UK to increase the supply and distribution of surplus paint into the network and onto walls in local communities. An important aspect of the role is to develop and secure new schemes to join the network and find creative ways of encouraging paint reuse.

What you will be doing

Line managed by the Network Manager, you will have their support and guidance, to deliver the following;

Supporting the CRP network

• Proactively engage and respond to scheme enquiries, providing excellent customer service through email, phone, and social media accounts, troubleshooting to find quick and helpful solutions.
• Provide support and advice to all schemes, sharing relevant information and resources, and assisting with operational issues.
• Improve the ‘networking’ element of existing schemes, to increase the number of network functions and opportunities.
• Undertake visits to schemes across the UK, both independently and with CRP colleagues.
• Organise, devise, and deliver training materials, presentations, and events to support existing and new schemes.
• Respond to external enquiries via telephone and email.
• Liaise with external organisations in order to better assist local schemes and customers.
• Manage the project’s customer relationship management (CRM) system, liaising with developers and ensuring it is being fully utilised.

Growing the CRP network

• Contribute to the development of the CRP strategic delivery plans.
• Work with the Network Manager to develop and establish new schemes, identifying appropriate organisations, making contact, and supporting their onboarding.
• Support and, as appropriate, lead on developing new partnerships.
• Identify new and innovative ways of growing the network.

Marketing and communications management

• Produce and manage the CRP communications plan, working with the CRP Network Officer and Resource Futures communications team to deliver outputs as set out below.
• Support the Network Officer with the production and distribution of:
  • Monthly Paint Pad (to CRP schemes) and bi-monthly RePaint Roller (to external organisations) newsletters.
  • Regular press releases.
  • CRP network promotional materials.
• Produce marketing content (including photographs and videos) for use across the network’s communication channels.
• Assist individual schemes with the production of tailored communication and publicity materials.
• Oversee maintenance and update of the CRP website content, liaising with our website partners when complex amendments are needed.
• Oversee the maintenance and development of social media accounts – Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok.
• Conduct monthly reviews of social media activity, performance and website statistics with the Network Officer and assist with content planning for the month ahead.
• Deliver presentations to external organisations, to promote the work of CRP.
• Manage stocks of marketing materials, organising print of new materials, as necessary.

Since Brexit, EU citizens in the UK and their family members have been brought under the Hostile Environment. the3million has been providing information to EU citizens and has continuously advocated for a fairer immigration system, especially in making the EU Settlement Scheme more accessible to all.

We provide a platform for EU citizens to become politically active and use their voices to advocate for themselves. The Community Organiser will be part of a team to create opportunities for EU citizens to have increased capacity to engage in activism and lead the change they want to see in the UK, their home.

This role is at an officer level and suitable for people who are looking for their first paid role in Organising, but have had some grassroots experience, even if on an informal or voluntary basis. You can expect to be mentored by an experienced Community Organiser and thereby learn a lot while on the job. 1. Co-lead the3million’s “EU Citizens’ Campaigns Network” 

• Working with the Community Organiser - Campaigns to recruit more members of the EU Citizens’ Campaigns Network by regularly reaching out to relevant communities and booking 1-1 meetings with key community leaders;

• Working with the Community Organiser - Campaigns to support and guide our existing Network members made up of over 40 community leaders who have a variety of backgrounds and levels of experience in campaigning, developing their confidence and ability to become effective change-makers and encouraging them to take coordinated, strategic actions to advance our campaigns;

• Co-facilitate monthly Network meetings: setting agendas, facilitating Breakout rooms, taking minutes and following up with Network members on their agreed actions;

• Support the3million’s campaigns by supporting our Head of Policy and Advocacy on our MP-facing work in Parliament and our Communications Manager to ensure that our campaigns are featured on our social media, newsletters and clearly communicated to key stakeholders such as partner organisations in the migration sector and to key community leaders on the ground

2. Relationship-building and in-person workshops

• Rolling out a series of “listening sessions” and “Know Your Rights” workshops with community groups across the country: liaising with relevant community leaders to visit them and their communities, this may include working on Saturdays (and taking time off in lieu during the week) and running in-person sessions. You will receive guidance on the format from the Community Organiser - Campaigns but will be the main person delivering such sessions on the ground.

3. Professional learning and development

• Draft briefing notes and communications pieces for internal and external audiences as required.
• In collaboration with staff, recruit and induct members onto the Committee as required.
• Conduct periodic reviews on the effectiveness of the Committee and its members and implement improvements as necessary.

About You

You will need to have the following skills and experience:

• An extensive understanding of legal and social EDI-BIIDE matters (including the contextual, political, climatic and social changing landscapes, to advance equity for stakeholders, the public and UKCP). 
• Well-developed communication skills with attention to language meanings across different populations and audiences that promote equity, further collaboration, and uphold respect and dignity for all.
• Experience in embedding EDI-BIIDE principles and practices in an organisational context, understanding how to align EDI-BIIDE with wider business objectives, and working within resource constraints
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with experience working in an influential role and driving cultural changes for individuals, groups, communities, boards, training and teams.
• Proven success in leading and chairing a committee in similar environments
• Ability to navigate complex and sensitive issues with tact, diplomacy, and empathy, and seek advice, guidance and support when necessary.
• Experience in effectively chairing meetings, and encouraging input from a diverse range of backgrounds
• Sufficient time to fulfil the demands of the role.
