We are looking for a senior policy professional to join our policy team, which is part of our Policy, Research and Campaigns department. If successful, you will help to make the case for resources in primary care to meet the health needs of our population, develop policy solutions to improve general practice, and influence decision making at senior levels of government. You will contribute to efforts in overcoming some of the biggest problems faced by the NHS in its history, including engaging with the plans being set out by the new Government. You will work closely with our public affairs and campaigns team and our press team, as well as a range of others across the organisation, to ensure that the voice of general practice is heard at the most senior levels.
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic policy professional who can hit the ground running and help drive forwards our influence in key areas within a fast-paced policy landscape. The successful individual will be responsible for a range of policy areas affecting general practice.

The Role
The Chief Executive Officer will line manage the executive team and any other relevant roles.
As the leader of the charity the Chief Executive Officer will interact with staff and volunteers across Beat setting a successful and positive culture to enable Beat to meet its objectives.
The Chief Executive Officer will build and manage relationships with numerous stakeholders including donors, politicians and experts in eating disorders.
Person Specification

Digital comms will be your thing as you will be creating and producing digital content, and managing the Trust’s website and social media accounts. The purpose of this role is to drive policy development across our policy priority areas. The Policy Officer will lead on specific policy projects, commissioning research, developing policy positions, and producing reports and consultation responses.

What kind of research does the NSPCC Research and Evidence team do?
The NSPCC Research and Evidence team carries out, commissions and partners on high quality social research. We seek to answer big and small questions around preventing and stopping child abuse, and how to support children who have experienced it.
- Our research is child-centred, meaningful and useful - it drives improvements to our work with children, families and communities, influences the development of policy and guidance, and contributes to new NSPCC campaigns, as well as adding to the wider evidence base.
- We also support research activity at NSPCC via our Research Advice Clinic, Evidence Summary Service, and the NSPCC Research Ethics Committee.
What will the job involve?
This is an exciting and varied role for a researcher with excellent project management skills. You'll be working with colleagues in departments across the NSPCC including Childline, Policy and Public Affairs, Knowledge and Information, Schools services and Participation. Current projects we're working on include research on technology assisted online sexual extortion, sex and relationships education at secondary and primary levels, problematic sexual behaviour and provision of services to tackle loneliness, to name just a few.
Specifically, the role will involve:
- Designing and project managing research on a wide range of NSPCC research projects.
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to develop research projects and advising other teams in the NSPCC about how to carry out robust and ethical research.
- Communicating research findings to a range of different audiences including colleagues, practitioners, decision makers, policy makers, academics and the children and families who access our services.
- Managing junior members of the team directly and via our matrix management structure.
What experience are we looking for?
You will have demonstrable experience of undertaking and managing complex research and evaluation projects in different settings and contexts. You will have a passion for the NSPCC's mission, and for child-centred, participatory research, as well as a strong understanding of:
- Qualitative and quantitative research methods, including participatory fieldwork methods
- What makes research, particularly research with children, safe and ethical.

About the role

The Zimbabwe country office are looking to recruit a Programme Officer, Social Inclusion to support their CPP project. This role will assist in coordinating and implementing activities and programmes that align with Sightsavers’ strategic footprint and goals.

About the role
Key accountabilities but not limited to:
- Assisting the Programme Manager with effective implementation of CPP projects and activities, statistical data maintenance, promotion of shared learning and capacity building with external stakeholders
- Supporting the full lifecycle of the CPP project including planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and learning
- Provision of project documentation and reports in a timely and accessible way
- Contributing to programme monitoring and data collection
- Supporting activities tied to the project, collation of documentation, reporting, workshops, organising case studies, event management and travel arrangements
- Monitoring expenditure of financial resources, assisting project partners with budget preparation and submission of timely financial returns
- Proactive provision of quality information for case studies and news stories
Knowledge, skills and experience
- Recognised qualification or tertiary degree in social sciences/sociology/social inclusion/local development.
- Successful track record in programme implementation within development organisations.
- Skilled in designing, managing, and supporting programmes to facilitate inclusion of marginalized groups in governance, policy, campaigns, and decision making forums.
- Experience in participatory development, including participatory monitoring and evaluation
- Previous exposure to collaboration with ministries and agencies/institutions related to CPP and social inclusion such as the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Ministry of Women Affairs for example
- Experience working with people living with disabilities, and communities, organisations of people with disabilities, and disability governance actors.
- Knowledgeable on national and international disability rights policy frameworks, advocacy issues, campaigns, and best practices in governance and policy review.
- Good knowledge of key national networks and organizations working for people with disability and social inclusion
- Current and ongoing right to work in Zimbabwe
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Available to travel within Zimbabwe for the length of the tenure

The Role
Reporting to the Head of Policy and Influencing, the Policy Manager leads the policy work and the development of UK-wide, evidence-based policy positions on key issues affecting stroke survivors or those at risk of stroke. Working closely with the Policy and Influencing team, devolved nations’ leads as well as other Association teams, they will consult with internal and external experts as well as stroke survivors as part of the policy development process and ensure final positions are disseminated and used effectively.
In a busy health policy arena, the Policy Manager oversees the identification and drafting of organisational consultation responses, ensuring submissions are backed up by evidence, informed by those affected by stroke and have impact with policy makers and audiences.
The Policy Manager is an astute, experienced policy lead. Providing expert policy advice and support to colleagues across the organisation including local system leaders, they contribute to effective horizon scanning and message development to ensure the organisation is prepared for announcements and events in the external environment. The Policy Manager will also represent the Association at external events and sit on like-minded coalitions. They also support the public affairs work when necessary, and provide policy support for the Chief Executive and other senior leaders by preparing presentations when required.
This role will be provided on a fixed term basis, to cover maternity leave within the team.
About You
As Policy Manager, you will be educated to degree level or relevant demonstrable industry experience and be willing to undertake training and continuing professional development. You’ll be a flexible team player and solutions-focussed.
You will ideally have experience of:
• Overseeing evidence-based policy positions, statements and consultation responses (or equivalent)

Your responsibilities as the Head of Communications:
- Help position Power for Democracies as the "go to" evidence-based research and evaluation entity in the pro-democracy field with relevant stakeholders, donor groups, networks, institutions, and civil society spaces.
- Recruit and build the small communications team in charge of Power for Democracies’ communication and distribution formats, channels, and tools.

This role is split equally between supporting activities of the BSI and those of our publishing portfolio. On the BSI side, you will support in the development and delivery our marketing and communications activity through a variety of channels.
