Position Overview

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a key member of our leadership team responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the organisation. The COO will work closely with the CEO and SMT to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the charity by playing a pivotal role in overseeing various aspects of our operations, including compliance, safeguarding, operations and team management, finance, human resources, IT, and administrative functions.

The ideal candidate will be a results-driven, strategic thinker with a strong background in non-profit management and a passion for our cause.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Programme Management:

- Supervise staff and ensure the effective delivery of our programs and services.

- Develop and implement program evaluation mechanisms to measure the impact of our initiatives.

2. Human Resources:

- Lead the HR function, including talent acquisition, staff development, and performance management.

- Foster a positive and inclusive organisational culture that aligns with our mission and values.

- They will provide leadership across the organisation and ensure that each team member is well supported and professionally managed

3. Technology and Infrastructure:

- Ensure the charity has the necessary technology and infrastructure to support its operations.

- Identify and implement IT solutions to enhance efficiency and data security.

4. Compliance and Reporting:

- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.

- Prepare and present regular reports to the Board of  Trustees and stakeholders on organisational performance.

5. Stakeholder and Partnership Engagement

- Represent the charity at public events and engage with key stakeholders to promote our mission.

Qualifications & Experience

· Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Master's degree preferred).

· 5+ years proven experience in senior operational roles within the non-profit sector

· Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams 

· Exceptional organisational and project management abilities.

· Demonstrable experience in budgeting, financial management, and people leadership 

· Excellent line management skills with the ability to work across a multi-disciplinary team of virtual working staff.

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

· Commitment to the charity's mission and values.

· Knowledge of mental health and wellbeing with experience working with individuals in mental health preferable

· An appreciation of how to handle sensitive and confidential issues.

• Deliver and enhance our network and engagement programme to support green space owners and managers
• Support and coordinate the administration and delivery of a range of virtual and in-person network meetings and events

• Support the identification, and engagement of new audiences who could benefit from our work
• Identify and develop relationships with potential collaborators with whom we can work in partnership with, to maximise our capacity and expand our reach
• Support the sustainability of the charity by driving and maximising existing income streams as well as identifying and delivering new opportunities for income generation
• Represent Parks for London at events and wider engagement opportunities, and promote the interests of the charity, our services, and our supporters
• Keep abreast of local, regional, national and international funding opportunities to identify opportunities for both the charity and those in our networks
• Contribute to the ongoing monitoring and evaluation of Parks for London and our services
• Play an active role in strategic reviews, business planning, and contribute to the wider thinking and planning of the charity

The Director of Finance is responsible for the efficient and effective leadership and management of the Gallery’s finance, governance and commercial activities. A key member of the senior leadership team, the Director of Finance contributes to shaping and implementing the Gallery’s strategic development.

Finance and Resources Manager (Full Time)

Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse (AAFDA) was founded by Frank Mullane in memory of his sister Julia Pemberton and her son Will who were both killed by her ex-partner in 2003.  

Each year, around 150 families lose a loved one to domestic homicide. The actual number of suicides as a result of domestic abuse remains unknown. AAFDA’s prime function is to provide families in England and Wales with specialist peer support and expert and specialist advocacy for the range of statutory reviews that will take place after domestic homicide.

As a growing charity, AAFDA is looking for an exceptional candidate to join our supportive team and lead our finance and resource management functions. The role will provide and manage the HR, administration and finance activities of the charity and sit within the Senior Leadership Team.

About the role:

We have a new opportunity for a highly organised individual to join our Housing Services Team, as a Housing Services & Income Administrator. With proven skills and experience of using IT and databases related to administrative tasks such as producing letters and reports with a clear focus on organisation skills, you will play an essential role with supporting the Housing Services team and Manager, and our supported accommodation teams.

In your role, you will be responsible for

• Maximising rental income and minimising loss through bad debts through efficient application SHP Procedures.
• Supporting the housing services team, and accommodation services teams to ensure that clients receive timely rent statement and letters.
• Maintaining effective management of accurate rent income records.
• Collating performance returns against KPI’s and provider monitoring returns.

The role will also require supporting the Senior Housing Services and Income Officers in dealing with repairs and building related matters, anti-social behaviour, complaints and neighbourhood disputes.

We are currently operating a blended working arrangement, that includes working from our Head Office in Kings Cross for a minimum of 3 days per week, as well as flexible occasional travel to our accommodation services across London. There is also some potential for home working, in agreement with the Head of Property Services.

The weekly working hours are 37.5 hrs, to be completed between 9am-5pm Mon- Fri, with occasional need to work outside of these times in the event of an emergency.

To be successful, you will have good proven experience of:

We are looking for a Graphic Designer (maternity cover).

We’re looking for a mid-weight Graphic Designer to work in-house to create artwork for marketing and communications campaigns across a wide range of media, including print, digital, animation, and video. The key duties of this Head of Finance are as follows:

• Prepare annual global organisation budgets by entity, business unit and project.
• Prepare multi-year forecasts and financial plans built on known and likely projects, activities, expected growth and blue-sky scenarios.
• Prepare regular financial performance reports for the Executive Committee and Board.
• Have critical oversight of the global results consolidation.
• Lead the Global Finance team with 3 direct reports and outsourced local relationships for each office jurisdiction.
• Prepare quarterly global and entity forecasts and supervise cashflow.
• Hold oversight of global fiscal and tax compliance.
• Plan, forecast and monitor recovery of funds from grant funded projects.
• Promote the visibility of financial data and outputs to stakeholders through continuous improvement and integration of finance and related systems and processes.
• Deputise for the CFO on Financial matters at Senior Management Team and Executive Committee meetings as required.

The successful candidate will have:

• Qualified as an Accountant: ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent.
• Non-profit experience, particularly with grants and project financial reporting.
• International experience – ideally at HQ group level (non-profit or commercial) demonstrating an understanding of cultural and logistical challenges.
• Excellent FP&A experience, including modelling, budgeting and forecasting.
• Experience of managing a finance team.
• Experience providing a proactive partnering role to business operations, especially in ensuring achievement of budgets
• The willingness to travel internationally to other GWEC offices on an infrequent basis.

- Taking a lead role to ensure that new projects are subject to effective financial planning and commercial control, influence budget holders and provide technical and strategic insight in order to achieve the Directorates’ overall objectives
- Review and challenge draft budgets and forecasts to ensure submissions are complete, accurate, deliver value for money and remain within overall financial framework targets
- To lead the review of the monthly management reports and ensure comprehensive and insightful analysis and commentary on key variances
- Attend monthly management meetings to present consolidated and departmental monthly financial results, drawing out major financial trends and issues.

Job Purpose and Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy and expanding charity and work within a dynamic team. The finance manager is responsible for support and maintenance of financial services and reporting to senior management.  These duties include but are not limited to supporting the Finance Officer, maintaining accounts functions, budgeting and assisting in the drafting of monthly management reports.

Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the COO the Finance Manager will support and assist the Finance Officer in all routine bookkeeping duties, ensuring the smooth running of financial operations.  The Finance Manager ensures that effective methods are put in place to meet current and upcoming regulations of Charities e.g. Charities SORP (FRS102).

Duties (this list is not exhaustive)

· Supervision of regular posting of purchase and sales ledger entries.

· Preparing monthly management accounts, including comparatives to budgets, trends and forecasts.

· Compiling Balance sheet reconciliations

· Facilitating the use of account software to generate management accounts reports.

· Preparing quarterly ‘Income and Expenditure’ reports for Managers.

· Preparing interim/final financial project reports for submission to funders.

· Providing accurate and timely financial information to support the organisational financial strategy and decision-making process

· Ensuring all transactions are recorded, filed and reported correctly

· Streamlining and improving accounting systems, controls and process environment

· Reviewing and updating the current organisation's policies and procedures

· Preparing supporting schedules for annual audits and working with external accountants to assist in the preparation of annual financial statements.

Knowledge

As an experienced Finance Manager, you must be knowledgeable in the following areas:

· Proven expertise with computerised accounts systems.

· An understanding of Liberty Account software would be an added advantage.

· Understanding of Charities Commission requirements

· Highly proficient computer skills including in-depth knowledge of Excel and major Microsoft programs

· GCSE Mathematics and English

· AAT Level 3 or equivalent

· Good editing, data collection, and record-keeping with analysis skillset

The Role

As CFO, you will play a pivotal role in our Strategic Management Team (SMT), providing financial leadership that aligns with our bold strategy. You will lead GAIN’s finance team, providing the strategic direction necessary to support our ambitious goals.

• Strategic Financial Leadership: Provide expert financial analysis, strategic guidance, and sound financial management across GAIN. Lead the finance team to support the organization’s strategic goals.
• Corporate Finance: Develop and manage GAIN’s corporate finance activities, ensuring robust financial systems and processes that are user-centric and future-proofed for a growing organization.
• Budgeting and Reporting: Oversee effective budgeting and financial planning, supporting the development and use of KPIs, and ensuring transparency and value for money.
• Risk, Compliance, and Controls: Manage relationships with external auditors and ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards. Oversee risk management, financial controls, and regulatory compliance.

Your Profile

The ideal candidate will have a distinguished career in finance, ideally within the non-profit or related sectors, and a proven track record at the Finance Director or CFO level in a multi-country context. Key attributes include:

• A recognised professional finance qualification (e.g., ACA, FCA, CPA).
• Extensive experience in strategic financial planning, budgeting, and managing financial operations in a complex, global environment.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to lead a geographically dispersed team.
• Deep understanding of diverse regulatory environments, particularly those relevant to Swiss Foundations.
• Expertise in donor and project funding, FOREX, and cash optimisation in a non-profit context.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including Board members, donors, and non-financial staff.
