The Enablement support worker will also support service users to build on their existing skills, and develop valuable life skills through delivery of a range of courses. The required approach is strengths-based, individual to each person they support, and will involve working closely with the friends and family of their service users to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Key responsibilities

- Conduct home assessments for the people they support in a 1-to-1 capacity, followed by six monthly or twelve monthly reviews.
- Deliver support within community based settings across the city.
- Deliver Life Skills Education Courses and Technology Skills Courses.
- Support their enablement contract with defined KPIs and outcomes, and provide ongoing monitoring and impact reporting.
- Build and manage relationships with external partners and local authority referrals to meet project outcomes and ensure service standards.
- Refer those who require additional support to external partners and the Low Vision team.
- Keep up to date with relevant legislation and best practice.
- Provide and support a comprehensive training program for Enablement volunteer champions and other supporting volunteers. Assist in supervising and promoting development of volunteers, ensuring they work in line with best practice and organisational policies.

The ideal candidate:

- Organised individual, capable of managing a complex and varied workload within a busy environment.
- The ability to motivate and engage with a variety of people in varied settings will be a significant advantage.
- Creative person with a “can do” attitude
- High level of interpersonal skills necessary with an ability to establish and sustain trust.
- A team player passionate about developing services that make lives better.
- A positive, outgoing and confident approach, and well versed in identifying risk, understanding and responding to the differential impact that stigma, inequality and discrimination can have on communities and groups.

Skills, knowledge and experience:

- Experience of undertaking assessments and developing support plans in line with identified needs.
- An understanding of person-centered principles, and the ability to implement person-centered practices into the day to day role.
- Experience and the ability to confidently present in group settings.
- An understanding of how to provide quality support to people with sight loss or a disability.
- Experience of leading, managing and supervising volunteers.
- An understanding of a CRM system such as Charity Log.
- Understanding of support services provided by the third sector and other organisations in Birmingham.
- Up-to-date knowledge of legislative frameworks and key issues relevant to the post.
- Level 2/3 in Health & Social care.
- Minimum of 5 GCSES (A*-C/9-4).

Benefits:

- 28 days leave per year including bank holidays, plus additional concessionary days.
- Robust pension scheme options
- Life assurance worth 4x annual salary
- Subsidised lunch
- Employee Assistance Programme
- Access to employee discounts via Blue Light Card
