This is an exciting opportunity to help lead Big Leaf Foundation in the next phase of its development, as we transition our self-employed contractors to employee contracts and explore new multi-year core funding opportunities to build greater sustainability in our work. We are looking for someone with direct experience in financial management and/or charity finance and fundraising to fill this role. Ideally you will have experience of moving people onto employee contracts. You will use your skills and knowledge to make a lasting difference to the lives of displaced young people in Surrey.
In addition to the general responsibilities of a trustee, duties of the treasurer include:
- Overseeing, approving and presenting budgets, accounts and financial statements.
- Being assured that the financial resources of the organisation meet its present and future needs.
- Ensuring that the charity has an appropriate reserves policy.
- Preparing and presenting financial reports to the board.
- Ensuring that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place.
- Liaising with any paid staff and volunteers about financial matters.
- Advising on the financial implications of the organisation’s strategic plans.
- Ensuring that the charity has an appropriate ethical funding policy.
- Ensuring that there is no conflict between any funding sources and the aims and objects of the charity.
- Ensuring that the accounts are prepared and disclosed in the form required by funders and the relevant statutory bodies, for example the Charity Commission.
- Ensuring that the accounts are scrutinised in the manner required (independent examination or audit) and any recommendations are implemented.
- Keeping the board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities.
- Contributing to the fundraising strategy of the organisation.
- Ensuring the accounts are presented in a coherent and easily understandable way in our annual review.
- Sitting on appraisal, recruitment and disciplinary panels as required.
In addition, with other trustees to hold the charity “in trust” for current and future beneficiaries by:
- Ensuring that the charity has a clear vision, mission and strategic direction and is focused on achieving these.
- Being responsible for the performance of the charity and for its “corporate” behaviour; ensuring that the charity complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Acting as guardians of the charity’s assets, both tangible and intangible, taking all due care over their security, deployment and proper application.
- Ensuring that the charity’s governance is of the highest possible standard.

Principal Tasks:

BRANCH TRUSTEE - RSPCA Middlesborough, Teesside & District Branch
We are looking for a Branch Trustee to help us manage the Middlesbrough, Teesside and District Branch. As a Trustee you will be a full and equal member of our leadership team, making strategies, decisions deciding what we focus on, how we raise and spend money, organising events, working as a team to improve animal welfare in our community.
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
Trustees manage the charity. Like any organisation we get involved in people, finance and legal topics, making strategies and assessing which projects to support, tracking progress on animal welfare programs, working with local vets to offer more support out of hours, or making sure our volunteers are well managed and motivated. More importantly, we focus on raising funds, managing volunteers and spending money where it is needed to support animals in our community - YOUR community. So, whatever your background or skills there is a role you can play.
You will hold the organisation accountable, ensure compliance and be an ambassador, promoting the good work we do and encouraging our teams to continue their efforts to support animal welfare.
You may be an experienced Trustee or new to the role (we can help with training). You will have leadership experience gained in any sector and a passion for animal welfare. You will bring the ability to lead people, motivate teams and manage change. We are looking for a new Chair of Trustees to join a rich and diverse team of MOVE Trustees, MOVE Europe is an inspiring charity for children and young people with physical disabilities, encouraging movement opportunities across the learning day to develop independent lifelong functional skills of sitting, standing, walking and transitioning.
At MOVE Europe our mission is to enable children and young people to have autonomy over their goals and ambitions in life, and we achieve this through a physical development programme known as the MOVE Programme.
Our mission started 27 years ago with a small cohort of special education need teachers in England in a Special Educational need settings. Today we are in over 160 settings across England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Ireland, with satellite provisions in Denmark, Austria and Germany! The MOVE Programme is now utilised in SEN provisions, Health Boards, Mainstream Settings and Resource Centres with a few extra curricular settings getting on board too.
We support children and young people from the ages of 3-25 predominantly in SEN provision. Currently we have over 1600 children and young people formally using the MOVE Programme, with a wider cohort embedding the MOVE ethos into everyday life.
We employ 4 members of staff currently, alongside 6 Trustees. However, MOVE would not happen with just our small but mighty team. MOVE Europe also has 27 Associate Trainers based in Education and Health settings across the UK, alongside trained staff within schools who ensure MOVE is embedded and utilised to the best of it’s ability.
We are looking for a Chair who has experience of working within the charity sector and has a can-do attitude towards challenge and ambition. MOVE Europe works with children and young people who often experience the word through unwelcomed limitations, and as one of our families stated in a recent meeting ‘In a world where you are told what your child can’t or won’t do, MOVE comes along and shows the world what your child can and will do.’

About YAUK
Youth Advantage UK is a charitable organization that uses a research-led approach to inform policy work and projects
that aim to promote and further the human rights of young people aged 11 to 25 across the United Kingdom.
Please note that this is a VOLUNTEER role.
We won't accept applications from individuals residing outside of the UK as we operate on the principle of bettering the lives of young people in the UK. Therefore, we require our volunteers to have an understanding of what it is like to live in the UK.

Initially there will be a focus on managing the preliminary research function, which carries out research on specific topics to best inform, guide and direct our work in protecting the rights and interests of young people.
Responsibilities
· To manage welfare of researchers
· Look after day to day management and support of teams, stand in for absences (including undertaking research tasks, where necessary).
· Monitor and report on performance
· To advise on and provide feedback on matters of research
· To line manage senior researchers
· To advise on, guide and manage research workflow, ensuring of ethical research and policy compliance
· To ensure of a focus on organizational goals
· To lead planning as required
· To have oversight on research being carried out and the outcomes of such, ensuring it is to a high standard
You will need
· A PhD or Master’s degree
· To have experience operationally in a research role
· To understand how to motivate a team and manage others

Chief Operating Officer (COO):
We are looking for a Chief Operating Officer, who can join our new charity start-up and help us build a solid foundation and help to build a strategy and plan to get Unlock YOUR Potential set-up and running, providing our key services to those who need it.
As COO you will be responsible for the daily operations and long-term strategy of Unlock YOUR Potential. You will be responsible for;
- Operational Management: You will oversee the charity's day-to-day operations, ensuring that activities run smoothly and efficiently.

Strategic Planning: You will work closely with the Founder and CEO and other senior leaders to develop and implement strategies that align with the charity's mission and goals.

We are seeking individuals with:

The statutory duties of a trustee are to:
o Ensure the organisation complies with its governing document.
o Ensure that the organisation pursues its objectives as defined in its governing document.
o Ensure the organisation applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objectives – the charity must not spend money on activities which are not included in its own objectives, no matter how 'charitable' and 'worthwhile' those activities are.
o Contribute actively to the Board of Trustees' role in giving strategic direction to the organisation, setting overall policy, defining goals and setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets. o Safeguard the good name and values of the organisation.
o Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
o Ensure the financial stability of the organisation.
o Protect and manage the property of the organisation and to ensure the proper investment of the organisation's funds.
o If the organisation employs staff, to appoint the Chief Executive Officer and monitor his or her performance.
In addition, with other trustees to hold the charity “in trust” for current and future beneficiaries by:
o Ensuring that the charity has a clear vision, mission and strategic direction and is focused on achieving these.
o Being responsible for the performance of the charity and for its “corporate” behaviour; ensuring that the charity complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
o Acting as guardians of the charity’s assets, both tangible and intangible, taking all due care over their security, deployment and proper application.
o Ensuring that the charity’s governance is of the highest possible standard.

Working hands-on to deliver inpatient surgical care to our patients, the Ward Nurses work around the clock to see that each and every patient receives the care and attention they deserve.
• Administer holistic patient care to assigned patients and expect to care for both adults and children on a 20 bed open ward
• Employ recent surgical experience in providing pre- and post-operative care to patients receiving maxillofacial, reconstructive plastic, general, obstetric fistula repair, gynecological or orthopedic surgery. Experience in one of these surgical specialties preferred
• Partner with local Day Crew translators to provide culturally sensitive and compassionate care to patients
• Coordinate patient care with the specialty Team Leaders, Charge Nurses, Hospitalist Physicians and Surgeons
