• Are you over 18 and living in the UK? You must be over the 18 years of age and live permanently in the UK.

• How much time can you give? As much as you want to do. We are flexible and like to work around you.

How does it work?

In 2025 we launched our arm chair volunteering initiative to help us spread the word about our service and to give people the opportunity to take part in surveys and projects to help us deliver the best mental health support to the UK public.

We'd like to embrace what you love doing, whether that be sharing on socials, proof reading, surveys, sharing experiences or getting involved in our fabulous projects.

Important information:

In order to volunteer for knus as an ambassador, you will need to complete a brief application form and a ID check. A DBS is not required for this role, however, if you wish to progress to another role you may need a disclosure. We do this to ensure of service remains a safe place to volunteer for all. Please do not worry about this, we will help you as much as we can.

Training is provided by us and our training partners. You will be required to attend this training using online conferencing software such as zoom or teams.

East London Waterworks Park is looking for comms strategists and PR managers to help grow East London Waterworks Park's audiences.

East London Waterworks Park is a charity that has raised £2m towards buying land from the Department for Education to transform the 14-acre Thames Water Depot on Lea Bridge Road on the border of Waltham Forest and Hackney, into a new biodiverse park with natural swimming ponds, forest schools and community spaces. 

We are looking for communications strategists and PR to participate in our community-led working group who are promoting public awareness and support of the project. 

There is opportunity to lead on projects across communications, content creation, social media, PR, newsletters, film, podcasts or any other channels of interest, and facilitate the direction of the working group.

The Comms Circle currently meets fortnightly on a Tuesday evening on Google Meet and spends voluntary time outside of the meeting completing agreed tasks remotely.

You should be experienced in implementing effective strategic communications, managing media relations and social media platforms by creating engaging content, and building online communities. Strong writing and editing skills for various materials including press releases and social media posts. Comfortable with community-led processes. Our roles are quite flexible. We are looking for a new Company Board Director to help guide Climate Emergency UK over the course of the next 2 years.

Climate Emergency UK is at a exciting time, since starting just over 5 years ago we have have successfully launched the first ever complete UK assessment of coucil climate action, with the Council Climate Action Scorecards, and are about to launch the second one in June 2025. We are halfway through delivering our first 3 year strategy, with focusses on how we can advocate at a national level for further and faster council climate action, sustain ourselves as an organisation and keep up our crucial local work with councils and residents via the Scorecards, training and other projects. 

We need support from our Board to further the sustainability of the organisation.

VOLUNTEER CHAIR/COORDINATOR

Across the UK, our 65 local branches help disabled people live the lives they choose. Our network of skilled volunteers respond to thousands of requests each year to design and make customised equipment free of charge.

As your local Chair or Coordinator, you’ll take the lead in making sure your local branch works as effectively as possible. You’ll recruit, induct, and support other branch volunteers to make sure your branch’s activities meet the needs of your local disabled community.

You’ll bring your leadership, communication, organisation, and motivational skills to this role.

What the role involves

This is a varied role where local need shapes what you’ll be working on, but it often includes:

•  Coordinating the activities of our local branch to undertake and meet the needs of  referrals in your area

• Coordinating and chairing the branch meetings

• Leading the branch’s shared responsibility for planning and completing referrals

• Coordinating the recruitment, induction, and ongoing support of new local branch volunteers

• Approving income and expenditure with the other branch bank account signatories  and ensuring with the Treasurer that our financial requirements and policies relating to branches are followed

• Ensuring the branch’s activities comply with policies to keep people safe

• Regularly communicate and act as a key contact between staff and volunteer

PCR at a glance 

In just a few short years we have achieved remarkable growth, expanding our income threefold from £1.5 million to £4.9 million in 2023-24 and have sustained this income in 2024-25. This growth reflects not only the urgency and importance of our mission but also the unwavering commitment of our team, trustees, and supporters who share our determination to fight prostate cancer and support the people it affects.

Guided by our vision to transform lives affected by prostate cancer, we remain committed to driving meaningful impact across our four core areas of focus:

Academic Research 

In 2024 we launched two new grant calls to tackle critical areas of unmet need: racial disparities in prostate cancer outcomes and advancements in treating bone metastases. These initiatives have continued our tradition of supporting cutting-edge research that transforms patient care and improves survival rates.

Translational Research  

Building on our success in bridging the gap between scientific discovery and real-world application, we have expanded our translational research portfolio to seven active projects. By fostering collaborations with biotech companies and research institutions, we will accelerate the development of groundbreaking diagnostics and treatments, ensuring they reach patients faster.

Influencing

Our influencing work has taken centre stage this year with the completion of our cost-benefit analysis, which has already generated significant interest. We have already launched this impactful analysis at an event at the House of Commons, at which we advocated for policy changes that prioritise early detection and equitable access to prostate cancer care. This initiative will help secure national commitment to advancing screening and diagnostic pathways.

We are now driving this campaign forward through lobbying and publicity as we aim to maximise on comms opportunities to raise the profile and awareness around the need for early detection.

Patient Projects

Empowering patients remains at the heart of everything we do. Following the success of our Infopool initiative, we will develop a follow-on project to enhance support for those living with prostate cancer. This new resource will build on the strengths of Infopool by providing even more tailored, accessible information to patients and their families with a focus on those most in need of better information. We have created truly groundbreaking projects that reach diverse communities, tackle deep-rooted challenges, and unlock the potential of scientists, advocates, and the communities we serve.

Prostate Cancer Research (“PCR”) is looking for up to three new Trustees to join our Board. We are specifically looking for people with the following experience:

 A Senior Comms professional. This trustee would potentially open doors with media outlets and help PCR to navigate and maximise the increased opportunities we have recently experienced. Examples include a long-standing campaign focused on screening for men that has been extensively featured in the Daily Mail. We now have further opportunities with potential TV ads and an awareness on the back of a prominent story in a popular soap.

A Senior Finance professional.  This trustee will have financial management experience (highly likely but not required to be a qualified accountant). They will bring financial expertise and experience to PCR’s activities and will be required to be part of our Finance Audit and Risk Committee.

A Translational Research/Data Analyst professional. This trustee will have translational research and/or Data Analyst expertise and will be capable of guiding strategic decisions and ensuring the organisation's research efforts are impactful and effective. This person would ideally have experience of spinning out a company or be well versed in the pharmaceutical industry.

A Senior HR professional. This trustee will have a track record of managing high performing teams in a growth environment. The Trustee will be a member of our People and Culture sub-committee, seeking to ensure staff are motivated by our vision & mission, enabling high retention and strong performance, alongside oversight of nominations, remuneration and policies. 

We would ideally find candidates that have some experience across two of the areas of experience.

The Opportunity  

Prostate Cancer Research’s Board comprises Trustees with experience across the medical sector, the pharmaceutical and biotech industry, charity governance, finance, fundraising and communications. We also ensure that the experience of prostate cancer patients is directly represented on our Board.

Our Board provides governance and oversight to ensure we are fulfilling our objectives. Its responsibilities are to:

• Contribute to the strategic direction of PCR, setting overall strategy, defining goals, setting targets and evaluating performance.

• Engage effectively as a Board to stimulate carefully considered and highquality strategic decision-making.

• Work in partnership with the CEO and Senior Management, helping them achieve the aims of PCR. 

• Act as an ambassador of PCR, to promote the charity and the importance of research into new treatments and diagnostics for prostate cancer patients.

• Provide governance oversight to ensure compliance with charity law and good practice.

• Safeguard the charity’s assets, including responsibility for its financial sustainability. 

In addition to the above, each Trustee uses specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the Board reach sound decisions. This may involve scrutinising Board papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, or other issues in which the Trustee has expertise.

The Trustee Role and Responsibilities 

 Terms of the appointment:

• The Board meets four times per year.

• Meetings are held in person at PCR’s offices in London, with the option for Trustees to join meetings remotely depending on their location or availability. Candidates are expected to be UK-based. 

• In addition, Trustees often choose to provide advice and support to PCR’s Senior Management on specific projects and initiatives that are relevant to a Trustee’s areas of expertise. Involvement of this nature is discretionary and flexible, being respectful of Trustees other professional and personal commitments. 

• Trustees can also join a Board committee, which also meet four times per year ahead of the full board meeting. We have highlighted in the specs above which roles will be required to join a specific committee.

• This role is unremunerated, but reasonable, pre-agreed expenses will be reimbursed.

• The appointment is for an initial three-year term, with Trustees expected to serve for at least two terms. A third term is possible at the discretion of the Board.

Quilombo UK is looking for a Bid Writer - Commercial Proposal Volunteer to join their team. Quilombo UK is a not for profit social enterprise that challenges people to think differently and bridge gaps between communities, with the aim of building a culturally rich society, where differences are accepted and celebrated. As chosen among 160 other organizations to work in collaboration with the Home Office on the “Building a Stronger Britain together” project, you will be joining a team, which not only supports the community but also stands up to extremism in all of its forms.

By joining Quilombo UK and QMC Capoeira School you will be supported and guided by experienced staff and volunteers, who are willing to share their skill set and will provided you with great opportunities for development in many different areas.

Ideal candidates will assist Quilombo UK in preparing funding bids that contribute to their further development. They should be well-organized, with a proactive attitude to deliver work that adheres to the key objectives of the organization. Candidates should be willing to volunteer at least 12 hours a week, for a duration of 16 weeks.

You will be volunteering as part of the team who are responsible for creating the bids to attract funding for our new or existing projects. We enable access to unbiased and evidenced-based resources, education, and support for women, girls, and trans individuals. We influence healthcare professionals, hospital systems, policy makers, and the public to centre the human rights of women, girls and trans men, intersex, and non-binary people throughout the lifecycle of their sexual health needs. 

Purpose of the Role: The Volunteer Website Manager will support White Ribbon Alliance UK's efforts to improve maternal and reproductive health by helping us on a two month project working to polish up our websites to keep them relevant, up to date and engaging for members of the public. 

Our aspirations for activities the volunteer would perform:

• Review our websites and provide constructive feedback and pragmatic recommendations for improvement.

• Update and maintain our website, ensuring it’s visually appealing and aligns with our brand.

• Ensure that content on our websites meets with internal and external policies and guidelines.

• Work with our team to understand website needs and integrate feedback for improvements.

• Utilise SharePoint and Microsoft Teams for collaboration and document management. 

• Handle ad hoc work required by the charity such as social media, copy writing, administrative tasks, etc.

What’s Involved?

As a Trustee, you will:

�� Attend at least five board meetings per year (in-person and remote, often in the evenings)

This is a voluntary role, but all reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. Volunteering does not affect state benefit entitlement.

Job description

We are thrilled to welcome a Video Editor at a pivotal time for our charity. After a challenging period of inactivity due to the impacts of Covid, we are excited to embark on a new chapter, as we are ready to restart our activities in 2025 and to develop our projects and create a positive impact in our community.

This is a unique opportunity for those eager to be part of a project evolving from its early stages to the launching of new initiatives. The volunteer will have ample opportunity to collaborate with us and help shape our videos from the ground up.

We are seeking a talented Video Editor who can create engaging videos for our new upcoming website and fundraising campaigns.

We appreciate volunteers with experience in editing videos for fundraising purposes, but we are open to those who do not necessarily have the experience but wish to learn.

As a volunteer-led charity, it’s essential for us to find someone who understands the importance of being part of our team and engaging in the entire creative process. Therefore, we will prioritise applications from volunteers who wish to commit to a long-term partnership and want to be an integral member of our team.

What do you need to become our Video Editor?

Essential:

· 3+ years professional experience with Video Editing and ability to create engaging and professional videos.

· Creativity and experience in developing effective videos for marketing.

· Experience in developing effective videos for fundraising purposes.

· Experience in developing effective videos for promoting projects and charitable causes.

Desirable

· Have worked with videos for fundraising campaigns in the past.

Location: Fully Remote. But we welcome those who wish to come and visit the farm at least once to understand more about us. Travel expenses covered.

Commitment:

The estimate of time needed is 3 hours a week, but we can be flexible and work with you to find hours that fit ours and your schedule, hours will eventually reduce once most of the branding work is done and the new website is launched - all help is much appreciated!

As a volunteer-led charity, we prioritise volunteers who want to become part of our team of volunteers rather than those looking for a temporary project.

About the Chair of Trustee Role

Role Overview

The Chair of Trustees ensures effective governance and strategic direction for Rebuilding Lives UK. They provide leadership to the board, oversee decision-making, and act as a key ambassador for the charity. The Chair supports the Chief Executive while ensuring accountability and compliance with regulatory requirements. A key responsibility of the Chair is to ensure that all trustees are actively engaged in their roles, fulfilling their responsibilities, and participating in training.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the board to ensure strong governance, accountability, and strategic leadership.
• Ensure that all trustees actively fulfill their roles, contribute to decision-making, and engage with the charity’s work.
• Provide mentorship and oversight to the Chief Executive.
• Hold trustees accountable for attending training and participating in board activities.
• Ensure that safeguarding measures are implemented across the charity.
• Oversee board meetings, ensuring productive discussions and informed decision-making.
• Represent the charity externally and strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders.
• Support financial oversight, ensuring sustainability and compliance.
• Be actively involved in the charity’s operations where possible, offering support beyond governance.
• The Chair plays a key role in providing strategic direction and supporting the CEO through regular mentoring and guidance. While the board collectively oversees the charity’s performance, the Chair works closely with the CEO to ensure they are supported in their role, offering insights and fostering a collaborative relationship between the CEO and trustees.

Who We Are Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Experience in chairing boards or senior governance roles.
• Strong strategic leadership and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI).
• Minimum of 10 hours per month dedicated to board duties.

Mandatory Training Requirement

All trustees, including the Chair, are required to complete trustee governance and safeguarding training within the first three months of their appointment. Additional training will follow as needed.

Terms of Appointment

The Chair serves an initial one-year term, with the option for renewal up to a maximum of three years.

Voluntary Role

All voluntary roles are subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check.

This is an unpaid remote position (UK Based); however, reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. 

Time Commitment:

• 10 hours per month, including:
  • Monthly board meetings (held via Zoom).
  • Providing strategic leadership and guidance to the CEO.
  • Annual half-day strategy session and leadership planning.
  • Regular check-ins with trustees to ensure engagement and accountability.
