Responsibilities
- Design Research: Conduct research on local cultural contexts, using resources like the Sightsavers image and design libraries, and validate findings with local teams.
- Desk Reviews: Review existing interventions and resources, gathering performance data and liaising with programme teams and colleagues.
- User Testing: Organise user testing sessions, plan and schedule activities, and create summary reports of feedback.
- Media Research: Research local media penetration to understand the landscape for effective communication with target audiences.
- Meeting Administration: Support meeting administration by taking notes and capturing outcomes to inform design research.
- Design Training: Assist in planning and coordinating inclusive design training sessions, preparing materials, and providing support.
- Supplier Mapping: Identify local production suppliers and creative agencies, and research sources for copywriting and translation of project materials.

This is a 6-month role initially because of funding secured but we hope to be able to extend this, as community-led research is a key aspect of Action Hampshire's work.
Key tasks include (see job description for a full list of tasks):
- Lead on specialist knowledge areas (community-led research, consultation and impact measurement), advising/training VCSE organisations on the subject and developing relevant guidance and resources
- Develop and deliver outreach and engagement activity
- Manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders across the public, private and voluntary sectors to support the development of the programme and delivery of programme objectives
- Provide 1:1 advice and support to VCSE organisations and communities, using a coaching style to support service-users to identify/diagnose challenges, devise solutions, and develop actionable plans
- Plan and facilitate group workshops and peer support networks online and in person
- Support high-quality research that can inform service development and influence policymakers, such as State of the Sector reports
- Monitor and evaluate projects and activities against programme outcomes and VCSE/community needs
- Develop and secure funding for new and ongoing projects, including contributing to fundraising bids, liaising with corporate partners and providing services to customers

About the role
EUK Education brings together everything EngineeringUK does for schools, career advisers, and teachers to help them inspire young people into STEM careers. It encompasses all our programme activities for schools, offering them access to everything from quality careers resources, curriculum linked lesson plans, a way to find the best activities and inspiring role models to funded drop down days and STEM career fairs. Role Description
The Chief Finance Officer (CFO) will lead in the development and implementation of the Cathedral's financial strategy and objectives, providing expert financial guidance and support to Chapter and senior colleagues to develop strategy to deliver Chapter's vision. - Overall responsibility for the finance function ensuring the accurate and timely presentation of management accounts, budgets and cashflow reports and annual accounts for the Cathedral and Enterprises.
- Work with the COO and senior members of staff and clergy in developing the Cathedral’s commercial strategy and delivery of Cathedral Master Plan.
- Providing strategic business planning support to all commercial and charitable operations.

Operational:
- Line manage and work closely with the Finance Manager to ensure the effective management of the Cathedral finances including areas such as payroll and pensions.
- Oversee the preparation of year-end reports and financial statements for the Cathedral, St Edmundsbury Cathedral Trust and Enterprises Ltd.
- Work with the Marketing and Communications Manger to review the presentation of our Annual Report and Accounts.
- Produce and oversee the annual budget.
- Prepare monthly management accounts.
- Responsible for ensuring an effective routine of internal and external audit.
- Helping Chapter with the process for re-tendering for new auditors from time to time.
- Oversight of the various requirement of HMRC, including VAT, PAYE, and NI.
- To undertake essential company secretarial and compliance tasks ensuring compliance with the Charities Act 2011, company law, financial regulations including the annual returns to the Church of England, Charity Commission and Companies House.
- Oversight and authorisation of claims for Gift Aid, and projects under the Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme.

- To ensure that the Cathedral's restricted funds and investments are effectively managed and accessible to support cash flow or key projects as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, financial policies, regulations and all relevant legal frameworks, together with appropriate management and financial controls and reconciliations are in place, and that the Cathedral has effective banking arrangements.
- Critically assess whether the Cathedral’s accounting software SAGE is appropriate and fit for purpose.
- Support departments across the Cathedral with project development by advising on financial and commercial plans and help develop capital projects and generate business cases and financial forecasts for major developments, undertaking effective tendering for works, and to fulfil the reporting requirements, and their terms and conditions, for donors and grant-making bodies.
- Work with the COO to effectively manage contracts held by the Cathedral (e.g. maintenance, utilities, IT, etc) and ensure value for money.
- Be the lead liaison on the Cathedral’s relationship with our Bankers, Insurers and Investment Managers.
- To support the COO and Director of Enterprises in ensuring that the activities carried out by Enterprises are properly costed, and that all business plans are robust, generating positive returns, with stocks correctly accounted for, reducing the risks wherever possible.
- To ensure the Cathedral invests and prioritises its commitment to the Cathedral's Net Zero strategy.
Governance:
- Attend Chapter meetings and provide regular written and verbal reports.
- Work with the Chair of Finance, Dean and COO to ensure that management information is presented in a transparent way that enables strategic decisions to be taken by Chapter.
- Attend the Finance Committee meetings, liaising with the Chair of Finance to ensure the committee functions well with papers being sent out in a timely way.
- Attend the Risk, Audit and Review Committee meetings.
- Review any governance arrangements related to finance (e.g. Statement of Delegated Authority) at appropriate intervals.
The Abbey of St Edmund: a Millennium of English History of West Suffolk:
St Edmundsbury Cathedral along with its partners West Suffolk Council and English Heritage have been awarded a grant by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
- The CFO must work closely with the project manager to mitigate any financial risks to the Chapter.
- To oversee and authorise financial claims to the project.

This role is split equally between supporting activities of the BSI and those of our publishing portfolio. What the job involves
We’re seeking a Digital Channels Officer to join our Web Operations Team covering maternity leave on a fixed term basis.
In this role, you’ll play a key part in managing content for our website, ensuring that all information is up-to-date and impactful. You’ll be responsible for publishing digital updates via the content management system (CMS) to ensure timely, high-quality, and consistent content across the website. Working closely with colleagues across Prostate Cancer UK, you’ll provide guidance on our online presence and help deliver engaging digital experiences for all our audiences.
Your day-to-day will include editing, proofreading, and publishing content that resonates with our audience. You’ll also help train internal teams on our content management system.
Collaborating with our Web Operations Team, you’ll spot opportunities for improvement and contribute to larger projects, helping us continually improve our site and deliver results more efficiently.
What we want from you
We’re looking for someone with solid experience in writing, editing, and proofreading web content who is comfortable authoring basic HTML and preparing web images with accessibility requirements in mind. You'll be skilled in using content management systems (ideally Umbraco) to build and update web pages.
You’ll need the technical skills to author and edit basic HTML, as well as prepare and edit images for the web. A solid working knowledge of interpreting website analytics, including experience with Google Analytics and search engine optimisation techniques, is essential. You’ll be an excellent communicator, skilled at explaining complex analytics and technical details in a clear, approachable way for non-technical colleagues.
In this role, you’ll also need the ability to prioritise tasks and handle tight deadlines, negotiate effectively, and manage challenging conversations when needed. Experience with online community moderation and staying informed on current web tools and trends will be advantageous as we continuously improve our site.
