Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and write persuasive grant proposals and funding applications for identified opportunities.

• Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary information and insights for crafting compelling narratives that effectively communicate the project's impact and needs.

Person Specification:

A leading Multi-Academy Trust comprised of 11 primary and secondary schools in the East Midlands is seeking a minimum of 2 Senior Finance Business Partners for full-time, permanent roles.

With a salary of £55,000 per annum plus an excellent local government pension scheme, the roles will be largely onsite at the Trust’s Head Office in Kettering and onsite at the schools – either in Kettering, Corby or Wisbech.

The roles will involve producing management accounts and genuine strategic finance business partnering to a range of budget holders in schools – headteachers, senior leadership team members, catering and IT Managers etc. There may also be some budgeting and analysis at central Trust level in addition to working with the schools.

The role also involves costing and cost analysis, interpreting complex financial data, journal postings and assisting with year-end close.

Being a qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA) is an essential criteria for these roles. Prior experience within a Multi-Academy Trust or from within the Education sector would be advantageous. Experience working with facilities, catering or IT budgets and departments would also be of interest – but not essential.

The roles are responsible for enhancing strategic financial analysis and insight to enable the understanding, of financial reporting on Trust performance to key stakeholders, including the Trust Executive Team, Heads of Professions and school leadership teams. The roles will ensure the efficient and effective allocation of resource, integrating finance and curriculum planning, allocating and managing finance in line with ESFA and academy handbook financial requirements.

The positions report to the Head of Finance Business Partnering and do not line manage anyone.

Duties will include:

-Develop excellent working relationships with key stakeholders across the Trust, ensuring KPIS, professional strategic financial advice and guidance is provided and applied effectively

-Ensure monthly reporting is accurate, fit for purpose and facilitates effective decision making at school and Trust level in conjunction with the requirements of the CFO and best practice

-Provide analysis and insight, linking financial reports to School and Trust strategies

-Provide ongoing higher-level support and guidance on financial matters to relevant stakeholders

-Support and advise budget holders on the development and submission of business cases as and when required, maximising the link and priority of good financial stewardship and front-line education delivery

-To undertake project- based work for specific projects and programmes

-Provide quality information as required for external bodies for example to the ESFA or the external auditors

-To undertake any other duties, commensurate with the level of the post, as may be required from time to time.

Candidate requirements:

-Fully-qualified CIMA / ACCA / ACA accountant essential

-Demonstrable experience in a similar Senior/Strategic Finance Business Partnering role – ideally dealing with multiple cost-centres and a diverse range of budget holders

-The ability to be hands-on and produce management accounts, journal entries etc

-Experience with costing / cost analysis

-Creative and pragmatic problem solver with the ability to interpret and present back on complex financial data

-The ability to work onsite at the Trust’s Head Office in Kettering on a Wednesday, and spend the rest of the week onsite at the allocated schools in Kettering, Corby or Wisbech (it may be possible to work from home 1 day per week)

-An interest in the Education sector is highly desirable

Community Engagement Coordinator - Central Region, England

Location: The role will be home-based with extensive travel across the central England region and regular travel to other regions and BookTrust offices.

About You

Do you want to be part of a team leading the field in the development of large-scale nature restoration projects driven by private and public investment into nature’s recovery? 

In Wales, the Trusts are setting an ambition to scale up and increase the pace of natures recovery. They have a proven track record of delivering nature conservation projects. However, they now need to scale this to all Wales programmes. They now have support teams from political advocacy, green financing and corporate engagement to match our unique ability to deliver nature restoration at the local level. In the past 18 months, The Trusts have been developing new approaches to funding nature’s recovery from the private sector as well as maintaining close links with funders. These are exciting times and they are building on their unique position to develop major programmes with partners across Wales. 

They need dedicated expertise and capacity to work with Trusts to bring this work into coherent programmes and develop models and plans that build revenues for nature’s recovery allowing much greater investment. This post is designed to provide the expertise and capacity to work alongside Trust staff who are already committed to developing these programmes. 

You will be from a nature restoration background with an ambition to drive forward a step change in scale and pace of action. You will be organised and motivated, able to take the initiative and lead the effective delivery of nature restoration programme development in Wales. You will have an understanding of issues facing nature. You will likely have experience in project development work and, ideally, an understanding of Welsh partners. You are used to keeping accurate records and can present clearly and professionally. You will be a great communicator, with a personable style who can work with many different people across the wonderful variety of geography and activities of the Trusts.

The Editorial Assistant - EJN will assist the EJN Senior Editor and Content Officer at Internews' Earth Journalism Network (EJN), a global network working with journalists and media outlets in virtually every region of the world to improve the quality of climate and environmental reporting. 

The Editorial Assistant will assist with the production, tracking, and distribution of EJN content, maintaining the EJN website and providing editorial support to EJN program staff across regions. We are looking for a part time Information & Advocacy Community Support Worker in Scotland, home based in the North of Scotland.

You will ensure that service users (children and adults) and their families, receive high quality support, from the point of diagnosis and throughout their journey, and will assist them to access funding, equipment and care and support that they are entitled to. You will join a team that makes a real difference to the lives of the people living with muscle-wasting conditions, and their families, in Scotland. The role will be primarily home based, but there will also be a requirement to attend outpatient clinics within the region, attend home visits where appropriate and to support responding to queries through the helpline and information inbox. Some travel will be required to attend meetings and events outside of Scotland. You will work with both statutory and voluntary organisations, clinicians, and health and social care professionals to ensure that people living with muscle wasting conditions get the care and support they need to live well and independently.

Financial Reporting Accountant | £50,000 - £54,632 | Permanent | Fully Remote / Home Based

This role will ensure all subsidiaries of the Group are following correct accounting standards and will lead on year-end accounting, Audit activity, external reporting and the preparation of consolidated accounts. There is also the opportunity to work on a VAT optimisation project for a new entity. This role will suit someone who is fully qualified, happy to work fully remotely, and with experience of financial reporting within multiple entities.

Main Duties:

• Prepare statutory year-end accounts across the Group companies
• Preparation of the Group consolidations
• Preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations across the group companies
• Preparation of reporting and financial information for internal and external stakeholders
• Work with Auditors as and when required
• Support a new VAT project focused on VAT optimisation within a new entity
• Ensure all financial software systems have strong controls

Person Specification:

We have partnered with a lovely charity who are looking for an Interim Head of Policy and Public affairs to join their team on a part-time basis for a 10 week contract. 

About the Role:

As the Interim Head of Policy, Public Affairs, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the organisation's impact. You'll lead a team in developing and implementing strategies to influence policy, engage with policymakers, and conduct research that drives their work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead on policy, parliamentary and research issues – advising and inputting into projects and strategies across the organisation and delivering and developing business plans

What's on offer:
This role is offering a salary of 52,000 FTE for this 10 week contract, on a hybrid (London) or remote basis. This is a fast moving role and applications will close as soon as a suitable candidate is found.

This role is offered on a part-time basis, with an initial start of 4 days per week for the first month, reducing down to 2.5 days for the remaining 6 weeks.
