What to expect as a trainee social worker
Year 1:
- Start with five weeks of intense online study, including five in-person sessions, led by experts in social work theory.
- Begin your 12-month placement in a local council social work team, where you'll work closely with fellow trainees and an experienced social worker. You'll gradually take on more responsibility in supporting children and families.
- Qualify as a social worker by the end of your first year.
Year 2:
- Manage your own caseload, building on your skills and confidence.
- Engage in ongoing study to further develop your professional abilities.
- Receive continued support from Frontline tutors, your employer and fellow trainees.
Year 3:
- Conduct a research project and complete the academic credits needed for your fully-funded social work master's degree.
- Receive leadership coaching to enhance your professional capabilities.

About the role

Parkinson's UK has recently made a huge investment to help us deliver our strategy for our community. Our strategic aims are focused on improving access to health and care; improving our community offer and continuing with our groundbreaking research. As a result of our investment new Community Fundraiser positions have been created to support the growing numbers of supporters, groups and local business opportunities.
As a Community Fundraiser, with expert relationship building skills, you’ll be responsible for engaging with current and potential new supporters within this area to generate leads to raise funds for the charity.

This position is home based and you will be required to travel across the East of Scotland and the Highlands.
What you’ll do:

Develop and deliver ambitious local fundraising plans and budgets to maximise local support, provide exceptional stewardship and achieve financial targets in line with the community fundraising strategy.

Actively support, motivate and manage a portfolio of individual supporters to fundraise for Parkinson’s UK, ensuring opportunities realise their full potential and key supporters are retained.

Lead on the development and delivery of a portfolio of fundraising activities such as local delivery of the Walk for Parkinson’s event series.

Lead in developing all streams of local fundraising in allocated areas, including community support, local corporate activity and collaborating with central teams.
What you’ll bring:

Demonstrable experience of general fundraising principles and at least two of the following fundraising disciplines: community, events, corporate and major donors.

Experience of setting and effectively managing budgets to achieve agreed targets.

An amazing 12 month FTC role at a Children’s Charity, as Communications Officer who deliver and support the creation of fundraising materials, for both print and digital use. You may be a marketer, communications or content expert, excited to learn more about support-facing communications and fundraising. You will join a sector leading team. This role can be based either in the London office, hybrid, or remotely.
Key responsibilities:
- Produce inspiring content for supporters over a range of channels
- To deliver and support on the creation of bespoke fundraising proposals and impact reports, gathering content from across the organisation, writing compelling copy and creating sleek layouts.
- To continue to develop, design and grow the digital communications offered by the High Value Communications team for supporters.
- To project manage the production of more complex materials involving internal and external stakeholders.
Your Experience:
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills to understand, interpret and present information in a clear and persuasive way for a range of audiences.
- Ability to collect information and data from various sources, analyse findings and present them clearly and accurately in a way that meets desired outcomes.
- Ability to negotiate with individuals and build and maintain effective working relationships.
- Design: Desirable but not essential, some experience of working with Adobe packages (InDesign, Photoshop, Spark) and Canva.

About the role
As members of the Community Directorate we aim to reach out to and support people with Parkinson’s, their families, friends and carers. We enable the voice of people affected by Parkinson’s to be heard to improve services, inform our priorities and improve decision making locally.
Through community development we work in close collaboration with our Parkinson’s community to bring change on the issues that matter most to people affected by Parkinson’s.
You’ll provide high quality business support to the Wales Director and team.
What you’ll do:
- Provide administrative support to the Director of Wales
- Provide first point of contact for all internal and external stakeholders
- Organise online and in-person, internal and external meetings and other events, including booking venues and refreshments, assisting with the production of materials, fulfilling mailings and taking bookings as required
- Work across the team in Wales to ensure our records are up to date on all the current activities we and others support and that these are recorded on the local activity database
- Keep up to date with the directorate’s activities in order to provide clear, accurate information
What you’ll bring:
- Experience of team administration or supporting a senior executive
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and negotiate when required at all levels internally and externally. The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable but not essential
- Ability to work co-productively with people living with Parkinson’s
- Excellent administration skills, including note-taking, presentation preparation and a positive, assertive and resilient approach to prioritising and juggling varying pressures and conflicting priorities
- Experience in coordinating multiple projects simultaneously that meet the business requirements

The RSPB, Europe’s leading nature conservation NGO, is seeking a Director of Supporter Fundraising to lead the charity’s work in recruiting and stewarding the next generation of individual supporters to help address the nature and climate emergency.
The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) is a charity for the conservation of birds and nature, bringing people together who love birds and other wildlife, and who want to take action to restore the health and diversity of the natural world. The charity now manages and protects 160,000 hectares of land across the four countries of the UK.
Public support has been at the centre of RSPB’s work since its foundation as a campaigning organisation in 1889. With 1.1 million current members contributing over £95m to the charity’s cause in 2024, the RSPB has set itself a bold ambition to increase supporter numbers and net income from this core area.
Working closely with the Executive Director for Income and Conservation Investment and other senior stakeholders across RSPB, the Director of Supporter Fundraising will ensure that the organisation maintains and increases its income in membership, individual giving, legacies, in memoriam and community fundraising. The role will be responsible for a large team working to develop new strategies and to engage and grow a diverse supporter base, enabling the charity to inspire long-term support and active engagement with their work.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in growing a large and complex individual giving or subscription programme across multiple products and channels. They will also have demonstrable experience of leading successful organisational transformation to create long-term value, as well as of leading projects within a complex stakeholder or matrix management environment. Significant experience in individual supporter fundraising or consumer marketing through direct marketing techniques will be essential.
As a leader, the successful candidate will have strong collaboration skills with the ability to inspire, develop and motivate teams to achieve challenging goals in a variety of contexts. They will also be able to use their networking and interpersonal skills to build excellent internal and external relationships and must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performing environment. Finally, they will have a commitment to the values and vision of RSPB and to mobilising support for a thriving natural world.

Your purpose
To facilitate the Voice 21 approach in Voice 21 Oracy Schools through leading professional development and school improvement programmes, and by designing and delivering high impact learning experiences and materials for teachers and school leaders.
Your responsibilities
Quality programme delivery

Lead high quality professional development and school improvement programmes in our Pathway programmes and Open Learning for groups of teachers. These may be delivered in person, online or in school.

Deliver transformative consultancy support, working with teachers and school leaders to design and implement bespoke improvement plans for their oracy provision, including through in school and online consultancy support, and one-to-one advice.

Build credibility and purposeful relationships with programme participants, both at programme days and touchpoints, and on an on-going basis to drive impact in our schools.

Be responsible for participant learning and experience on your programmes, upholding high standards for all elements such as preparation, adapting to participant needs, content and rigour, on-going interactions and support, and participant feedback.
Learning content & programme development

Proactively share insights and learning from the programmes you deliver, proposing and shaping solutions to enable Voice 21 to continually improve its programme offer.

Apply and share expertise through varied outputs such as teaching materials, online learning content, resources, written or video outputs. Proactively identify and respond to opportunities or gaps and fulfil briefs or commissions.

Contribute to the continual improvement of Voice 21’s programmes, through development and review cycles, based on first-hand learning from our schools, content expertise, programme insights and external research and evidence.

Your experience

You are an excellent teacher (primary or secondary).

You are passionate about teaching and learning, and the role of talk in learning. You have used talk to support learning in your classroom.

You have experience leading whole-school change and inspiring teachers to embrace new approaches and ideas.

You have a knowledge of a range of speaking and listening techniques and contexts for oracy, these could include: debate, dialogic teaching, storytelling, public speaking or communication and language development.

You are a strong communicator both when working in a small team and when facilitating learning for large groups of adults.

You are flexible, can think on your feet and can bring your own experiences to the work we do.

You are highly-organised, look for solutions and can prioritise and manage a varied workload.

You are willing to travel nationally on a frequent basis (2-3 days a week) during term time; this will include regular overnight stays.
