About the role

As Senior Executive Officer you will play a pivotal role in the smooth running of Advancement activity at UCL. You'll provide high-level strategic and operational support to the Vice President of Advancement and the Senior Leadership team, working closely with colleagues in the Provost and President's office and other Vice-Provost/Vice-President portfolios to ensure a coordinated and collaborative approach.

About you

To do this job you'll certainly have experience of providing high level operational and administrative support to someone in a senior leadership role. You'll be adept ad managing high profile, complex projects, building strong relationships with stakeholders and work with and influence senior colleagues.

You'll be able to balance the big picture and the detail on order to build effective ways of working to support the objectives of the Advancement team. You will exercise excellent judgement and personal organisation, flexibility and an ability to work to demanding deadlines across multiple priorities, working closely with the Vice President (Advancement)'s Executive Assistant.

In this role, you will provide visible, inspiring and engaging leadership and direction to our financial strategy and management of the organisation, ensuring sustainable growth and financial health.

You will be responsible for providing strategic financial guidance to senior management, trustees, and other stakeholders, maintaining robust financial controls, optimising financial performance, and managing risks.

This role involves overseeing all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and compliance, while fostering a culture of financial accountability and continuous process improvement. You will be accountable for the financial performance of the function as well as providing high quality line management support to the team.

In addition, you will be part of the Extended Leadership Team (ELT), making an active contribution to the strategic direction, planning and leadership of YMCA DownsLink Group in collaboration with the wider team. Hybrid role with an expectation of working three days at our office in Hove and two days working from home - Monday to Thursday, 9am to 5pm and Friday, 9am to 4.30pm.

You will already have extensive experience in a senior fiscal management role, preferably within the non-profit or housing sector.

You will have in-depth knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements relevant to charities and housing projects, as well as an understanding of charity accounting standards and housing finance regulations.

Experience in managing finances for housing projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for property-related activities is essential. You will have knowledge of the housing sector, including funding mechanisms, property management, and the challenges faced by housing charities.

THE CHARITY  

Unfold is led by the people we serve, and we get people where they want to be. We’re a bold, agile and growing organization, with a friendly, energetic and welcoming team. As an established local charity, we’re powered by volunteers who support young people and families to identify and achieve goals that matter to them. We provide mentoring and peer support groups to people in Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea and the neighbouring boroughs.  

We’re open to everyone, but we target those who face the most challenges: 93% of the people we work with describe themselves as coming from a racialized group, 85% of the families we support are single-parent households headed by a woman, and 75% of the children we support are eligible for free school meals. We also run specialized programmes of support for people seeking asylum and those with refugee status. Last year we provided one-to-one mentoring to over 246 people, and group support to a further 252 people. With increasing demand for our services, we expect to provide direct support to over 350 individuals in the coming year.  

In our programme of support for parents, we have two primary programmes, a ‘Mentoring for Mothers’, for women with children aged 5+, which aims to improve well-being, confidence, connectedness and reduce loneliness. We also run Women’s Support Groups, which are friendly, relaxed spaces for women to meet, socialise, share challenges, offer support to one another and find out about services that meet their needs.  

POSITION SUMMARY  

In partnership with the local authority, Unfold is developing a new programme in the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea in support of the families who have been made homeless or are at risk of homelessness who are accommodated in Bed & Breakfast and commercial hotels, within and outside of the borough. Collaborating with local family services and public health team, Unfold will offer  

• Outreach to families in hotels and B&Bs  
• Women’s Support Group  
• Mentoring for five women  

As an Outreach & Programme Coordinator Officer, you will be visiting the families and carrying out a screening to identify priority needs for appropriate signposting and connecting the families back to local services in Kensington & Chelsea. Part of the role will be to set up and run a weekly Women’s Support Group aiming to support the families build connections and find about further services in Kensington & Chelsea or in their new areas. Mentoring is part of the support women will be able to access, and as the Outreach & Programme Coordinator Officer you will be identifying women who are ready to engage in mentoring and working with Unfold colleagues to match them with a mentor, supporting mentoring pairs in their time together.  

At Unfold, we work with people with different needs, ages, and backgrounds, so the right person for this role needs to be a great communicator, enjoys connecting with people, has empathy and understands the challenges families face in temporary accommodation arrangements.  

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Outreach

• Create a plan for visiting on a regular basis all Bed & Breakfast and commercial hotels in five main London boroughs where families have been placed.  
• Act as a friendly face who families will trust, building recognition and local knowledge.  
• Conduct an initial screening on location to summarise the families’ – both parents and children presenting circumstances.  
• Following project referral pathways, share findings of the screening with partner services in Kensington and Chelsea, ensuring that appropriate services are notified.  
• Assist families to engage with family support services in Kensington & Chelsea.  
• Assist families to access local services in the borough the hotel is located within if appropriate. 
• Signpost to local wellbeing activities to meet needs identified by the family, taking into consideration their specific needs and interests.  
• Update appropriate resources and signposting materials.  
• Identify risks and escalate them in a timely manner to appropriate services.  

Women’s Support Group Facilitation & Coordination  

• With the support of the Programme Manager, set up and coordinate one weekly Women’s Support Group, following Unfold’s peer support model.  
• Create a friendly, welcoming atmosphere so that members feel at ease and able to determine group activities.
• Conduct monitoring of the WSG, including new member registration and attendance.  
• Coordinate resources and materials needed for the smooth running of the sessions and signposting.  
• Plan groups to meet the needs of members, with lively and engaging sessions in response to needs of group members, coordinating visits from external partners in health, wellbeing, culture and arts.  
• Be proactive in outreach and communications to the group, maximising participation and ensuring that everyone feels welcome.  

Mentoring Support  

• Promote mentoring to women in hotels and B&Bs, so that they’re aware of the benefits and feel they can take up the offer when they’re ready.  
• Identify and onboard participants who are ready for mentoring.  
• Organise and run assessment and matching sessions for five women, periodically reviewing with mentors and mentees.  
• Support mentors to connect mentees with services and activities that meet their needs, using knowledge of local services  
• Ensure all participants are aware of and follow safeguarding measures in line with Unfold’s policies.  
• Provide ongoing support to volunteers to help them flourish as mentors responding to any questions and concerns.  
• Support in the delivery of virtual and in-person mentor training and monthly supervision sessions.  
• Make sure our monitoring systems are being used as intended providing support to mentors and mentees as needed.  

Administrative Support  

• Manage cases with Beacon, our CRM system, making sure all the data is inputted correctly and is up-to-date.  

Other Duties and Responsibilities  

• Participate in regular management supervision, team meetings and annual appraisal; help to identify your own job-related development and training needs.

You would become a key member of PIN UK and work closely with the Institutional Fundraising Unit and the Knowledge and Learning Department, a dynamic team of technical advisors and specialists, focusing on high-quality program development and implementation. Your main responsibilities: 

Project design and proposal development (60%) 

• Work with Country Offices to facilitate effective programme design, supporting collaborative and participatory processes 

• Upon request lead/write/review proposals for FCDO, and potentially other institutional donors such as DG ECHO, DG INTPA, FCDO, SDC, GAC, GFFO, UN, CHFs, CZDA, etc., and private foundations

• Ensure proposed projects comply with donor requirements and PIN strategic priorities, coordinate with other PIN units, especially compliance 

• Coordinate required technical inputs with other PIN Units (especially the Knowledge & Learning department) 

• Lead and/or support partner negotiations including teaming and pre-bid agreements 

• Provide long-term support to specific Country programmes 

Strategic and capacity development support (20%)  

• Coordinate PIN’s commercial contracts working group with support from the Institutional Fundraising Advisor (FCDO Lead). 

• Coordinate closely with the Institutional Fundraising Unit, you will actively participate in strategic team and departmental discussions 

• With the support of specialised HQ staff, provide capacity building to broader HQ and country-based staff on bid development, contracting, contract management and compliance with donor standards 

FCDO and UK donor engagement (20%) 

• Support PIN’s global positioning towards FCDO departments, developing and coordinating engagement events 

• Manage and update internal tracking and coordination systems 

• Facilitate PIN's relationships with potential primes/partners to increase the scope of accessing FCDO funding opportunities

CAFOD’s Major Donor Executive will play a key role in delivering our fundraising programme. They will help develop and implement operational plans, manage a portfolio of existing donors and work to identify prospective new donors and their networks. They will work alongside a collaborative and talented team of fundraising professionals who support and encourage each other to reach their fundraising and operational goals.

Key Responsibilities

Donor relationship management 

• Develop lasting relationships with existing donors and new prospects, building and managing a portfolio of donors giving £5,000 upwards

• With the Philanthropy Manager and Major Donor Team, devise and implement online and offline communication plans with a clear focus on securing funds for CAFOD’s core programmes 

• Steward donors effectively, to ensure satisfaction and long-term commitment. Communicate, thank and report back on the work of CAFOD using donors preferred channels, ensuring the highest standards of donor care 

• Ensure systematic data input and management so that key information, donor interactions and communications are appropriately recorded  in line with organisational systems and processes, and in compliance with GDPR and fundraising best practice 

• Work with the Philanthropy Manager, the Research and Information Team, Senior Management colleagues and Trustees to carry out donor research, identify new prospects and grow the pipeline of donors. 

• As part of the team’s wider work, contribute to (and at times lead on) hosting cultivation and stewardship events – including planning event logistics; sending and tracking invitations; hosting and speaking at events; co-ordinating follow-up and completing evaluations 

 Contribute to Major Donor strategy, plans and income targets 

• Contribute to the development of team annual plans and income forecasts 

• Maintain focus on your own and teams’ income and other KPIs 

• Monitor your portfolio, prepare required analysis for monthly and quarterly reports and regular income forecasting exercises

About you

We are in search of a candidate with expert major donor knowledge and a proven track record in donor management and fundraising. You will have experience soliciting five and ideally six-figure donations and have the ability to develop compelling appeals to raise funds for CAFOD’s core programmes. Additionally, you will comprehensively understand the significance of prospect research and portfolio management. You will have excellent communication skills and high emotional intelligence, enabling you to foster strong relationships with donors and work colleagues.

• Proven experience of managing major gift relationships at five-figure giving level

Role Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of one of the world’s leading research and accountability initiatives for gender equality. You will join a small and growing team of staff working at GH5050, taking responsibility for the Global Health workstream. The role will involve project design and management, conducting research and policy analysis, maintaining strong working relationships with partner organisations as well as with other GH5050 staff, dissemination, engagement and impact. These responsibilities will be exercised at global and in partnership at country levels. The post holder will take a leading responsibility for the management of research consultants contributing to the health workstream with the support of the Head of Research & Impact.

Role Responsibilities

• Project design and management: Project manage the full process of producing the GH5050 Global Health reports, policy briefs, case studies of organisational change, and a range of outputs tailored to meet the goals of the GH5050 Strategy. Oversee and take ownership for the processes from research and analysis to drafting and production of GH5050 outputs.

• Collaboration across GH5050 Ongoing collaboration with GH5050 colleagues including the research teams in other sectors, communications team.. Work closely with the finance officer on budgeting and financial reporting. 

• Team recruitment, leadership/management and research coordination: Hire, onboard and train teams of data collectors and provide regular support and quality control. Oversee and support the research team, develop detailed project plans, arrange regular project meetings, and ensure that project deliverables are met and produced in a rigorous and timely manner. 

• Consultant management and liaison: Identify and recruit consultants, and provide training and guidance as required, for specific tasks to produce GH5050 outputs. Supervise consultants’ work to ensure timely delivery of high-quality outputs. Liaise with consultants on various tasks during the report production process.

• Conduct research, data validation and analysis: Undertake research and data collection for reports and other outputs, including literature research on organisational policies and practices, policy content analysis and workforce data extraction.

• Supervise research. Be responsible for the supervision of research consultants and data collection team; . Implement processes for ensuring research quality and validity is maintained. Ensure the timely delivery of quality, validated outputs, including on statistical analysis, writing, data validation, data visualisation, graphic design and layout, and the production of dissemination and communications materials.

• Database management: Manage, validate and clean large and complex datasets.

• Stakeholder management: Be a trusted first point of contact for organisations who are reviewed as part of the GH5050 report. This includes preparing and distributing formal communications to CEOs / Board Chairs and a designated focal point within each organisation, responding to queries, and managing the process of data validation with organisations. Support and engage the Health Advisory Council to optimise its value add.  Ensure that the Head of Research and Impact, and other members of the leadership team as needed, is engaged at critical points in the research process, including the development of new indicators, the interpretation of the data and findings generation.

• Report production: Prepare drafts of reports including in collaboration with professional writers when appropriate, to identify the key messages and key findings, data visualisations, background and other written contributions, such as forewords and quotes. Liaise with web designers, who will build data validation platforms and a new website to host the reports, and report design teams.

• Partnership building and management: Be responsible for ensuring a productive and equitable relationship with research and partners, and advisory/expert groups. Prepare reports for Trustees and funders.

• High-impact communication and dissemination: Work closely with the GH5050 communications lead as well as an external communications partner(s) to develop strategic communication and dissemination strategies for these research outputs. This includes preparing compelling key findings and messages from report research and developing a range of additional communications outputs for key stakeholders including launch events, presentations, policy briefs, op-eds and papers for peer-reviewed publications and ensuring the delivery of public events and launches. 

• Internal communications: Take responsibility for maintaining regular and comprehensive internal communications within the charity, reporting on progress and flagging any risks or challenges to project timelines. 

• While peer-reviewed publications are not a primary aim of GH5050, we encourage our researchers to publish in the academic literature and when they do so to practise equitable partnership practices in relation to authorship.

Person specification 

• PhD level qualification preferred. If Masters level qualification then equivalent and demonstrable relevant professional level experience 

• Experience conducting mixed methods research, including innovative methods of data collection, indicator development, database management, and qualitative and quantitative analysis and interpretation

• Experience in research project management, ideally within an academic or policy environment

• Experience in policy analysis and developing recommendations based on this analysis

• Knowledge of the global health landscape, and ideally a good understanding of the key issues relating to gender and equality of opportunity in the workplace, global development and organisational change

The role of Dose of Nature’s Development Manager is a permanent, high-level role which will continue to evolve as the work of Dose of Nature grows over the coming years. The post involves creating and implementing a fundraising strategy, supporting the Chief Executive with financial planning, and providing clear long-term direction to income generation.

The Development Manager will work directly with the Chief Executive to devise a long-term development strategy, identify and secure funding partners, and produce relevant and compelling funding proposals. Currently the main sources of funding are from trust and foundation grants and local council health care grants. Going forward the Development Manager will grow the funding stream from trusts and foundations and look to solidify the donations from locals. As the charity develops there will also be opportunities of securing funding from the corporate sector, helping to secure Dose of Nature’s future.

The role requires a focused and detail-oriented mindset, entrepreneurial flair, business development experience, excellent written communication and interpersonal skills, good time management and the ability to juggle several complicated tasks at once. It provides a fantastic opportunity for someone with a “can-do” attitude, someone who is passionate about supporting the aims of Dose of Nature and also who wants the freedom to make this role their own.

As with any small charity we hope to find someone who is multi-faceted in terms of their fundraising skill set, and within this, without being a communications specialist, we anticipate that the Development Manager will have experience of charity communications (although this is not the main focus of the role). Ideally the Development Manager will be able to help with creating a communications strategy, support communication tools such as newsletters and social media, and identify any opportunities that may help Dose of Nature grow.

Dose of Nature has an annual turnover of approximately £400,000, of which 75% is currently raised from trust and foundation grants along with donations from individuals. The Development Manager will be responsible for maintaining this income and also securing significant new funding during 2024-25. With a good network of local support, the Development Manager will have the advantage of having a database of supporters to work with and there is the potential to create an individual appeal or giving scheme. Currently the Chief Executive makes all funding applications to trusts and foundations and these relationships will be passed on to the Development Manager who will be expected to nurture these and secure grants from new sources.

About the role

The purpose of this role is to act as the policy focal point between Sightsavers and the World Health Organization (WHO) in the implementation of the WHO Global Report on Health Equity for Persons with Disabilities at the country level.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Promote and support implementation of the recommendations of the global report at national level.
• Offer policy analysis and advice to help identify priorities and entry points for engaging with Ministries of Health and other stakeholders.
• Facilitate engagement in relevant policy processes and opportunities related to the implementation of the Global Report and Guide for Action process at the country level.
• Build strategic partnerships and alliances with key actors at the national and regional level to promote health equity, including governments, Organisations of Persons with Disabilities, health sector partners, Civil society and relevant bilateral and multilateral agencies.
• Ensure continuity of information sharing across Sightsavers and act as a point of contact for WHO Disability team and WHO regional and country offices.

AKF(UK) Partnerships Officers are part of the Global Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) Partnerships team tasked with identifying funding partnerships and strengthening existing ones to support our strategic goals. Partnerships Officers manage a set of grants across a variety of themes and geographies. They also support engagement with European and Asian bilaterals, multilaterals and foundations to secure funding for ten multi-sector not-for-profit and forprofit agencies of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) operating across Asia and Africa. This is all done in close collaboration with field units, global teams, and our partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND CORE TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

Grants Management

• Manage a portfolio of grants through regular interface and coordination with AKF(UK)’s partnerships team, AKF(UK)’s programme finance team and relevant AKF/AKDN field units/agencies acting as a central resource for field units in donor best practice.

• Interface with donors about the implementation of ongoing grants to ensure strong, enduring relationships.

• Coordinate, review, and assure the quality of donor deliverables (e.g. work plans, monitoring and evaluation plans, staffing plans, budgets, close-out plans, donor troubleshooting).

• Ensure adherence with donor requirements, rules, and regulations, and that grant deliverables are produced on time and to a high standard.

• Coordinate contractual amendments, changes, and project adaptations, engage with donors in a pro-active and diplomatic way, and flag potential changes (e.g. budget revisions, extensions, risks) in advance to ‘trouble shoot’ and ensure smooth project implementation.

Mobilising Funds

• Coordinate and facilitate the development, review and quality assurance of expressions of interest, concept notes, and full proposals for funding opportunities.

• Liaise and coordinate with internal stakeholders as well as with donors, partners, and consortia to facilitate project design, align proposal and donor requirements, gather required legal and administrative documentation, and draft sections of proposals as needed.

Donor engagement and positioning

Update donor profiles, researching and summarising latest donor strategies and using AIMS to update AKF/AKDN funding summaries.

• Develop positioning materials (e.g. presentations, capability statements, briefs, talking points), collaborating with communications teams, to enable effective donor engagement.

• Guide teams to make informed, effective decisions on which opportunities to pursue (including ‘Go No-Go’ requests).

• Identify and support cultivation of and pre-positioning with partner organisations to form or join consortia focused funding bids.

• Conduct due diligence on new partners in coordination with finance and partnerships teams.

Communicating practical lessons and results

• Engage communications teams to identify opportunities and support the development of content (e.g. social media campaigns, videos) that promote AKF and AKDN’s work and position us as ‘partners of choice’ in the sector.
