We’re an award-winning charity running local learning centres in the heart of the communities where the young people we support live. Our centres provide a high-impact education programme which includes practical learning support, pastoral care, and motivational and confidence-building activities for young people aged 7-18. As the UK’s leading university access organisation, our staff team is helping over 50,000 young people each year at its 43 learning centres and extension projects across England and Scotland, and we plan to scale-up our provision to 50 centres over the coming years.
We are looking for a high-calibre candidate to take up a permanent role as Centre Leader at our new IntoUniversity centre in Gateshead. You will have responsibility for setting up, launching and running your IntoUniversity centre, including managing your team, planning and delivering the programme, liaising with external stakeholders and meeting IntoUniversity’s targets for delivery. However, a substantial element of this role is delivering our education programme to children and young people aged 7-18, so you will need to have a genuine passion and enthusiasm for working with young people, including leading a class of 30 from the front, working with small teams of children and providing one-to-one support.
Location: At our brand new IntoUniversity centre in Gateshead
Contract: Full-time, permanent

Eligibility for the role
In order to be eligible for the Centre Leader role, applicants will:
- Have completed an undergraduate degree to a 2.2 or higher.
- Have achieved a grade C/ grade 4 or higher in GCSE Maths and English/ achieved National 5s or Standard Grade at Credit level (grades 1-2) in Maths and English (or equivalent).
- Have EITHER a minimum of 18 months full-time paid experience working in a delivery role at IntoUniversity; OR a minimum of 2 years full-time paid or voluntary experience working with children and young people, either at IntoUniversity, or external organisations, or a combination of both. Please note that we will not take part-time, seasonal or ad-hoc work into account when calculating the length of full-time experience.
- Have the right to work in the UK (please note that as a charity we do not have the capacity to sponsor work visas).
- Be able to apply knowledge of F.E. and H.E. (e.g. UCAS applications) to help young people decide about their futures; and have knowledge of national developments in H.E. and their impact on young people traditionally underrepresented in H.E.
- Have experience of confidently negotiating with a variety of stakeholders, for example: head teachers, funders, universities.
What will my main dutires be?
To lead the staff team at the centre, generating a positive and inclusive working environment and ethos and ensuring that the team are well motivated, are managing their workloads effectively, and are providing a high quality service.
You will initially be involved in the set up of this brand new centre, including developing local school relationships and we anticipate that delivery of the IntoUniversity programmes will begin in the 2024 summer term.
To ensure that the ethos and values of the charity are maintained in the IntoUniversity centre.
To act as the Centre’s Designated Safeguarding Officer (full training and support will be provided to become the Designated Safeguarding Officer). To create and oversee relationships with local education providers.
To oversee the successful delivery of our educational programme at the centre using positive behaviour management and adhering to the IntoUniversity safeguarding policy.

About the role
The Communities Activities Coordinator will work closely with the Furness For You partnership, its participants and volunteers. In this role you will be responsible for organising and creating a varied activities programme, from organising creative activities to group events to completing one to one support with specific activities, all of which will promote independence, resilience, choice and dignity for our participants, enabling participants to develop valuable personal and work-based skills and gain confidence to enable them to achieve their goals. The Community Activities Officer will also deliver an introduction to activities, will ensure all activities are completed in a safe manner and will provide support for the development of soft skills, helping participants to progress during their time on the Furness For You Programme.
Skills and Experience Requirements

We are looking for an experienced Grants Writer and Coordinator to lead on expanding income from a sustainable portfolio of trusts and foundations. The post holder will be responsible for developing and executing the strategy to significantly increase our restricted and unrestricted income, aiming to surpass £500,000 this year. The ideal candidate will be proactive, with a proven track record in high-value fundraising from trusts and foundations or a similar field. The key tasks for this role include working closely with the CEO to develop a plan for multi-year income growth from grant funding, aligned with the Charity’s strategic objectives and income targets. Securing both restricted and unrestricted income for Platform for Life involves initiating, managing, and developing a comprehensive programme of applications to a wide range of funding sources. You will identify funders that align with the work carried out by Platform for Life, and collaborate with the CEO, colleagues and trustees to produce high quality, innovative bids, ensuring the strongest possible application is submitted. You will then coordinate and create the funding, mid-term and completion reports for funders.

Our Activity Service
The Activity Service is an important part of our organisation, delivering high quality activities to the older people of Merton. Our Activity team create and deliver a wide range of activities including a daily lunch club, crafting, poetry, singing and exercises at our centre in Mitcham and other locations across the borough of Merton.
The Activity service is busy and vibrant where no two days are the same, the service has over 10,000 attendees a year, taking part in over 700 activities and exercise classes. The service enables our community to live more healthily, happily and independently in later life.
Age UK Merton is in its second year of a new 3-year Strategic Plan, which aims to increase outreach and engagement across the borough, and our activities programme is a very important part of that.
About the Role
We are recruiting an Activity Coordinator to support the Activity Service Manager in the delivery and development of the Activity service.
The Activities Coordinator will be a hands-on role, working with the team to deliver a wide range of activities both existing and new at our centre and across the borough of Merton.
The role will play a key part in organising the delivery of existing activities, ensuring they are delivered to an exceptional standard with the service users at the heart of the service.
The role will on occasion deputise for the Activities Service manager, overseeing both the team and the delivery of activities. This role will play an important part to increase our outreach across Merton.

The Hepatitis C Trust has developed projects nationally whereby peers use their lived experience of injecting drug use and hepatitis C, to provide education and training to service users and staff in drug and alcohol, hostel and homeless services, increasing hepatitis C awareness, access to testing and referral to treatment, for people living with hepatitis C.

Union Chapel has been running an important project to assist asylum seekers resident in Islington contingency hotels.
With funding made available by Islington Council, we provide wraparound support in the form of orientation workshops; health and wellbeing; information relating to the asylum process; ESOL classes; social activities and befriending.

The Charity:
GroceryAid has been the charity for the grocery industry since 1857, offering free and confidential welfare support to over £2.6m in the industry from the first day of their employment. More than 450 of the most well-known grocery retailers and Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) brands support the charity, enabling us to help more than 70,000 people in the last twelve months. The charity raises funds through a highly respected events calendar and the D&I in Grocery Programme.
D&I in Grocery Programme:
The programme is delivered and facilitated by GroceryAid, with the support of the Strategy Steering Group and three workstream steering groups, it is a programme created for the industry by the industry. With over 100 FMCG partners, it is the largest collaboration of FMCG brands, working towards the common goal to accelerate a truly diverse and inclusive grocery industry. In 2023 the programme provided over 12,562 learning hours across 64 D&I topics. The programme benefits its partners through:
- Tracking tangible progress annually through the D&I in Grocery Maturity Model
- Shared learning activity across monthly learning labs and cross industry Employee Resource Group (ERG) forums. Resources within The Partner Hub (programme platform) including podcasts, policies, toolkits and learning content
- A 12-month cross-industry mentoring programme which provides equity and opportunity to historically underrepresented communities
- D&I in Grocery LIVE! unites the industry once a year, at the largest D&I event in the grocery sector
- Connects partners on different topics to share and learn from each other to accelerate their journey
Main purpose of the role:
To support the team, working across all aspects of the programme. The role offers a unique opportunity to work with the industry’s leading brands reaching over 1.2 million employees across the UK.
Main responsibility of the role:
- Provide administrative and logistical support across all programme steering groups
- Support team to deliver an excellent service to all partners
- Support across programme workstream activity
Steering groups:
- Schedule and track attendance for all steering group meetings
- Organise logistics and refreshments for face-to-face meetings
Partner support:
- Co-ordinate the annual onboarding process for new and renewing partners
- Provide support for partner check-in sessions
- Answer queries within the programme email inbox
- Update CRM database with key contacts and information
Workstream support:
- Work with partners and team to manage various virtual activities such as Learning lab webinars
- Send communications and updates to the programme calendar
- Support team to deliver face-to-face networking activity
- Assist with workstream projects as and when required
- Support Project Manager with The Partner HUB (members, activity, responding to queries etc)
- Work with Senior Project Manager throughout the D&I in Grocery LIVE! event life cycle
- Attend D&I in Grocery LIVE! as an active member of the team
Additional duties:
- Occasionally attend GroceryAid events throughout the year GroceryAid events Calendar
- Be an active member of the D&I community, gaining insight and sharing ideas to benefit the programme
Experience/Skills:
- Confident within all aspects of admin support with multiple internal stakeholders and workstreams
- Ability to build strong relationships internally and externally
- Creates clear and effective communications
- Strong PC skills with Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Word (required), Zoom, video editing packages and Canva (desired)
- Ability to multi-task and motivated to work to deadlines and targets
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy while working under pressure
- A passion/ personal interest in improving Diversity and Inclusion in the workplace and beyond

- Highly motivated and team oriented
- Extremely proactive in approach with a curious mindset
- Confident to bring in new ideas and recommendations
Additional Information:
- Salary: up to £35,000 dependant on experience
- Location: Sandhurst, hybrid working, currently a minimum of two days a week (Wednesday and one day of choice) are in the office
- Hours: Full - time 34 hours a week
- Occasional extra hours will be required for working on site at events
- Flexible working is offered once training is completed

We have a job vacancy for a Dementia Specialist to join Shine as the Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) / Dementia Coordinator.
Shine has a membership of over 14,000 members living with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus and associated conditions and over 6,500 associated members.
In the last year we have seen a 25% increase in members who are living with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. There are currently just over 600 members with NPH, plus their carers registered, but we are expecting this to continue to rise as awareness and diagnosis of the condition grows.
We are looking for an experienced, skilled, organised and dedicated new staff member to join Shine’s Services team to develop and lead our new NPH service.
Purpose of Job
To be the Dementia specialist for Shine.
To provide the foundations for improved health, social and emotional outcomes for adults living with NPH/Dementia and to support their families/carers.

Role Profile
You’ll act as the first point of contact for client referrals from North Lincolnshire Councils Adult Services. Clients will have already received a full assessment by the Adult Services team to identify and meet their personal care needs. Your role will complement the outcome of this assessment, enabling clients to explore and identify low level interventions in relation to their domestic and social needs.
You’ll empathise with people and provide person-centred support in a non-judgemental way, enabling them to self-manage. You’ll use a strength-based approach focusing on what the person can do for themselves to improve their quality of life and build resilience by supporting them to identify what assets they already have or can draw upon – family, friends, neighbours, religious organisations, community programmes, cultural and ethnic organisations, or other support groups throughout North Lincolnshire. Working as part of the wider integrated team, you’ll work to divert demand away from the ‘front door’ of health and adult social care, increasing the capacity of domiciliary care teams across North Lincolnshire and enabling a holistic approach to clients' health and wellbeing.
You’ll ensure service data and local intelligence is captured and communicated to inform the review, revision and development of interventions to meet needs, strengthen community and individual resilience and help to develop and grow accessible and sustainable activities and services that address the wider determinants of health and reduce health inequalities.
You’ll also record project outcomes and develop a feedback loop ensuring the impact of community response is reflected back to system partners, facilitating understanding of the impact of low level interventions on individuals and the system as a whole.
You’ll be a part of a small, but committed team with big ambitions that works cohesively and effectively together to get things done. You'll be an important and valued member of the team and, with the support of Citizens Advice North Lincolnshire, will be responsible for ensuring people focused outcomes are met in a pressurised environment.
