Every three minutes someone in the UK develops dementia; a progressive and complex condition that can be devastating for the whole family. One in two of us will be affected by dementia in our lifetime – either by caring for someone with the condition, developing it ourselves, or both.

Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nursing charity that is there for the whole family. Our specialist nurses, known as Admiral Nurses, provide free, expert advice, support and understanding to help families care for their loved one. Purpose of the job/About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Dementia UK as a Public Affairs Officer where you will play a crucial role within the Policy, Campaigns, and Public Affairs team to drive our long-term policy and influencing strategy.

Working closely with the Policy and Public Affairs Manager, you will be pivotal in leading impactful initiatives across Westminster, the devolved nations, and local government. Your primary objective will be to raise the profile of Dementia UK, Admiral Nurses, and individuals living with dementia and their families among parliamentary and elected decision-makers. By working to improve legislation, public policy, and statutory services, you will directly influence and enhance the lives of those affected by dementia.

In this role, you will support the development and dissemination of briefings and materials for parliamentary debates and other related activities. You will also stay informed about the political landscape, providing regular updates to colleagues through a weekly political monitoring report and briefing documents as needed.

To succeed in this role you will have previous experience in a parliamentary, policy, or related environment, with a solid understanding of national, devolved, local, and parliamentary processes. You will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to identify and capitalise opportunities to build and maintain strong relationships. You will have previously organised and delivered impactful events and ideally have some project management skills with an ability to prioritise workloads effectively and meet deadlines.

About the Role:

As part of this new role as Legacy Officer, you will support the administration of UK and international legacy gifts, from notification to final distribution. You will help manage a growing caseload and ensure compliance with legal and organisational policies.

Additionally, you will assist in expanding our legacy giving programme in new international markets, working closely with global teams to support strategies that maximise legacy income across different regions. You will also play a role in forecasting legacy income, conducting estate reviews, and preparing detailed reports to inform strategic decisions. Collaboration will be essential, as you will work closely with the Legacy Marketing Manager, Legacy Administrator and global fundraising teams to align legacy administration with broader fundraising initiatives. Additionally, you will help maintain and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders, including executors, solicitors, and international colleagues, to ensure the smooth administration of legacy gifts.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will ideally need experience in UK legacy administration, and preferably also within an international context. You should have a proven ability to manage and coordinate a complex caseload of legacy gifts, ensuring compliance and maximising income. Strong analytical and forecasting skills, with attention to detail in reporting, and excellent literacy and communication skills are essential. You’ll have the ability to work effectively within a global organisation, understanding cross-cultural dynamics and regional legal frameworks.

You’ll be able to build and maintain good relationships with executors, solicitors, and other key internal and external stakeholders.

It would also be advantageous if you also have a passion for global animal welfare issues, as well as experience with First Class and Salesforce CRM systems, although training can be provided for the successful candidate.

In this strategic senior role, you will work closely with the Chief Executive to provide stable leadership to staff and residents in the delivery of the day-to-day leadership of the organisation and residential addiction recovery / resettlement programmes. execute our media strategy. You'll build strong relationships with key journalists and media outlets to improve awareness of CARE’s work around the world and drive fundraising and advocacy goals. We are looking for a talented bid writer to join our Strategic Partnerships Team as a Trusts, Foundations and Lottery Fundraising Officer.  You will ideally have worked in fundraising and understand how to articulate and package our services so they align with the interests and priorities of trusts, foundations and National Lottery audiences, to secure vital funds to underwrite our charitable objectives.

About the role

You will manage a portfolio of medium and large trusts, foundations and National Lottery programmes to secure donations and grants between £10k and £100k. This will involve collaborative working across internal teams to maximise funding opportunities and to deliver effective reporting to donors.  You will represent the interests and needs of our funders to colleagues to ensure we meet our commitment to the delivery of grant requirements, project outcomes and specific funder recognition.

About you

If your knowledge, skills and experience include the following then we’d love to hear from you:

• Experience of articulating and packaging up priority projects in an appropriate and attractive way for the interests of funders, writing the very best applications.
• Experience of researching and identifying significant new funders and National Lottery programmes.
• Experience of securing and managing gifts in excess of £10k.
• Proactive and well organised, with an ability to balance working on multiple projects, applications and reports concurrently.
• Ability to read and interpret financial accounts and budgets.

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference and play a vital role within the Fundraising team at MHA. You will be responsible for developing and implementing the individual giving programme in line with the wider strategic objectives.

To do this you will manage the direct mail appeals and online campaigns, coordinate the regular giving programme, develop the strategy for the acquisition of new supporters and retention of existing ones, and produce the twice-yearly supporter newsletter. The University of Strathclyde seeks to appoint a Development Assistant to work within the Alumni & Development team. You will provide operational support to a busy fundraising program, which raises funds through the development of relationships with a wide range of alumni, trusts and foundations and company supporters. Your day-to-day responsibilities will be focused on providing administrative support for a wide range of fundraising activity. You will have the opportunity to assist in event planning and delivery, support our Telethon and Giving Day campaigns, facilitate meeting arrangements between fundraisers and donors and organise complex travel itineraries for fundraisers undertaking UK and International travel. From time to time this will include communicating directly with our alumni and supporters. You will further maintain the department’s administrative systems, including some financial processes, and support the effective running of the wider department.

The successful candidate will have strong administrative experience, ideally gained in a customer focused environment. They will be able to prioritise their own tasks within the agreed framework of the role and have an interest in developing their career within a higher education and fundraising setting.

This role is an expansion of our employment pathway and will be our first dedicated employment coach for our students.

PiP has developed a unique reputation for our experience and quality of employment support for adults with learning disabilities. This role for us is the next step in doing so, allowing us to increase our job coaching capacity and providing more dedicated resource for students on their employment journey. Job Purpose and Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy and expanding charity and work within a dynamic team. The finance manager is responsible for support and maintenance of financial services and reporting to senior management.  These duties include but are not limited to supporting the Finance Officer, maintaining accounts functions, budgeting and assisting in the drafting of monthly management reports.

Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the COO the Finance Manager will support and assist the Finance Officer in all routine bookkeeping duties, ensuring the smooth running of financial operations.  The Finance Manager ensures that effective methods are put in place to meet current and upcoming regulations of Charities e.g. Charities SORP (FRS102).

Duties (this list is not exhaustive)

· Supervision of regular posting of purchase and sales ledger entries.

· Preparing monthly management accounts, including comparatives to budgets, trends and forecasts.

· Compiling Balance sheet reconciliations

· Facilitating the use of account software to generate management accounts reports.

· Preparing quarterly ‘Income and Expenditure’ reports for Managers.

OVERVIEW

Rising Sun Domestic Violence and Abuse Service (Rising Sun) is an independent charity in Kent working to prevent domestic abuse and improve the lives of survivors and their children suffering from its effects. We have an ambitious vision for a world in which women and children live free from actual or threatened domestic abuse and all forms of violence.

Our team provide a range of services to adults and children who’ve experienced domestic abuse. We understand the impact of domestic abuse on survivors and so we listen to individual needs and respond in a trauma informed way. We provide one-to-one support and also deliver therapeutically informed group programmes to help survivors to recognise the potential signs and impact of domestic abuse. Bringing survivors together validates experiences and enables them to draw strength from one another.

We are looking for an organised and reliable individual with great problem solving and team working skills. As the Finance Manager you will play a crucial role in supporting the team to carry out their work. You will be responsible for preparation of bi-monthly management accounts and working with the Senior Leadership Team on annual budgeting and reporting processes, as well as overseeing the organisation’s day to day financial processes. The role also includes line management of our Finance Officer and HR and Admin Officer who carries out our HR functions with the support of an external HR consultant. 

In this role you will also have the opportunity to work with the board of trustees and CEO as a member of our Finance Sub-Committee, involving discussions and decisions about the charity’s reserves, investments, and organisational strategy relating to finance.

SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE

To ensure efficient and effective financial management across Rising Sun in line with our financial procedures and company and charity regulations.

To produce financial information for the CEO and board of trustees, such as budgets, income and expenditure reports, bank balances etc.

To support the fundraising team by providing financial information for funding applications and reports.

To line manage the Finance Officer and HR and Admin Officer.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Management

• Ensure all accounting is clear, well managed & compliant with SORP guidelines.
• Implement financial controls by maintaining and enforcing financial policies
• Prepare bi-monthly finance reports for the Board of Trustees.
• Monitor cash flows to ensure that the operations and liquidity of the organisation can be maintained.
• Liaise with the external auditors to produce the annual accounts.
• Co-ordinate and partake in quarterly Finance Sub-Committee Meetings.
• Monitor our investment portfolio and make changes following discussions in the Finance Sub-Committee Meetings.
• Work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team to prepare budgets and forecasts for services and the charity overall.
• Work with the fundraising team to ensure funding is received and allocated appropriately, and provide financial information for funding applications and reports.
• Ensure the Rising Sun has appropriate insurance for our size and activities.
• Act as the point of contact for HMRC, Charity Commission, Companies House and company pension scheme, including submission of gift aid claims, PAYE information and any statutory requests.
• Act as data protection lead and a signatory on bank accounts and countersign bank payments.
• Ensure monthly payroll is completed accurately and on time.
• Oversee development and decision making around improving organisational systems and processes, e.g. payroll processes, cloud, broadband, phones
• Oversee the day to day finance functions, including ensuring expenditure is recorded accurately and coded appropriately, month and year end reconciliations and journals are accurate and complete, and any due invoices and expenses are paid.

Line Management

• Line manage and provide cover for the Finance Officer and HR and Admin Officer, providing support, development and training opportunities and supervision to carry out their roles, summarised below.
• Finance Officer – Processing invoices, expenses, payments and gift aid. Preparing bank reconciliations and payroll. Monitoring the accounts and admin email inboxes and covering client referrals as required.
• HR and Admin Officer – HR policies and procedures, recruitment/onboarding, liaising with external HR consultants. IT requirements and systems. Office management. Monitoring the admin inbox and covering client referrals as required.

General Duties

• Maintain confidentiality on all appropriate matters.
• Adhere to the requirements of Rising Sun’s policies and procedures, including Data Protection and Safeguarding.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications

• Relevant finance qualification (eg. AAT) or equivalent experience.

Knowledge and Experience

• Knowledge and experience of charity accounts SORP, contracts and grants accounting (e.g. restricted/unrestricted) and accruals concept of accounting.
• Thorough knowledge of HMRC requirements with regard to tax, national insurance and statutory deductions and payments.
• Experience of working with external auditors to produce annual accounts.
• Experience of producing financial information and reports for trustees and/or the CEO.
• Knowledge of robust financial processes to reduce risks and ensure best practice in our financial management.
