Lewisham Local has a unique role opportunity for an energetic, people-focused, self-motivated Community Engagement Officer to join us in supporting two key projects we are delivering in partnership with Lewisham Council: The Community Toilet Scheme and the Lewisham Community Directory project. This role involves outreach, relationship building, and data management to ensure the success of these initiatives. 

Main Responsibilities:

Community Toilet Scheme: 

• Engage with local businesses to educate them on the benefits of participating in the Scheme. 
• Secure agreements with businesses to provide public toilet access for the community. 
• Develop and maintain relationships with participating businesses, providing ongoing support and resources. 
• Monitor and evaluate the success of the scheme, gathering feedback and reporting on participation. 
• Publicity and Communication:
  • Online: Create a dedicated website/section with an interactive map of participating businesses and their amenities.
  • Social media: Promote the scheme, share success stories, and engage with the community on platforms like Twitter or “X”, Facebook, and Instagram.
  • Traditional Media: Use press releases and local media outlets to publicise the scheme and its benefits.
  • Signage: Ensure clear signage at participating businesses, directing the public to toilet facilities.
  • Community Engagement: Partner with local groups and organisations to raise awareness and encourage participation.

Lewisham Community Directory: 

• Promote the use of the directory among local community sector stakeholders, including local organisations and residents. 
• Conduct outreach to ensure the directory is up-to-date and comprehensive, reflecting the diverse range of services and resources available in Lewisham’s community sector. 
• Develop strategies to increase awareness and use of the directory among VCS stakeholders. 
• Collect and analyse data on directory usage to measure its impact and identify areas for improvement. 
• Publicity and Communications:
  • Online: Maintain a user-friendly and up-to-date website with clear navigation and search functionality.
  • Social media: Regularly share updates, relevant information, and success stories on platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • E-newsletters: Create and distribute regular e-newsletters highlighting new additions, updates, and featured resources in the directory.
  • Partnerships: Collaborate with local media outlets and community organisations to publicise the directory and its value.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Develop targeted campaigns to reach specific audiences, utilising online advertising, social media promotion, and community outreach.

Data Management: 

• Enter beneficiary data into Lewisham Local's Salesforce database, ensuring accuracy and completeness. 
• Maintain the database with updated information, supporting effective communication and reporting. 

Lewisham Local Team Responsibilities

• Build and share knowledge and intelligence: 
  • within the team to increase the effectiveness of the organisation.
  • with local partners via networks, communication and website to enable community sector development in Lewisham
• Establish new connections between organisations and individuals to access resources and contribute
• Be a visible, active, positive and engaging presence within the community and at local events, activities and meetings. 
• Help team members at times of increased workload and/or specific events in collaboration through discussion with the VCS Programmes Manager
• Attend regular team meetings and supervision sessions as required.

As our Interim co-director: campaigns & communications you’ll support and oversee a team of talented campaigners and communicators delivering our vision of a zero carbon Britain built by, and for, everyone. You’ll lend your strategic expertise to ensure that our mission of inspiring people to take the action the climate crisis demands is fine tuned to the real opportunities and challenges that surround us. You’ll contribute your creativity to translating climate urgency into socially just and workable proposals the public can get behind - and get stuck into. And you’ll bring your expertise in organisational leadership to bear on our collective leadership model, responding to an ever shifting context while contributing to our strategic development.

This interim role is designed to cover a 12 month parental leave period, and will join during a period of wider organisational change. This creates opportunities for impact, but presents challenges too. You’ll therefore be someone who is comfortable working within organisational change, is able to adapt quickly to new circumstances, take initiative - and sees themselves as a team player.

The role sits within a collaborative leadership team, comprising two Co-directors until July 2025, and three from July-November 2025 (due to a Co-director returning from sabbatical). The Co-directors are jointly responsible for the strategic, efficient, sustainable and impactful running - and development - of the organisation, with each being assigned specific areas of accountability across key functions.

What you will bring

• Demonstrable ability to work as part of a senior leadership team with a commitment to principles of shared leadership, and to take responsibility for decision making at a senior level.

• Experience of organisational management and planning at a strategic level, including involvement in high level budgeting processes. You must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the challenges of running a UK based small-medium charity, but that doesn’t mean you have to be working for one.

• Experience of working for mission driven organisations, including an ability to ensure delivery at the level of organisational mission, and experience of developing and managing key senior relationships - including funders.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of PR & Media, the role will help deliver key national media campaigns that call for change to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke and raise the profile of our stroke research.

Key responsibilities will include:

· Managing the team to deliver a proactive, effective and 24/7 press office, building relationships with identified media and opinion formers, and ensure timely media responses based on organisational and reputational priorities.

· Working with the Campaigns and Public Affairs team to plan and deliver influencing activity to key stakeholders, Stroke Association campaigners and the general public.

· Working with the Research Communications team to lead the PR approach in promoting grant opportunities, new research and responding to media enquiries.

About You

You will have experience of:

· Drafting, executing and monitoring PR plans against identified briefs and overarching objectives, to deliver strategic communications objectives and to promote specific campaigns

· Managing productive long-term relationships with news and health journalists in the national media

· Working with Policy and Research functions to deliver sustained media coverage, with a strong call to action, ideally in the healthcare sector

· Producing robust and integrated media campaign evaluations

The role

We are seeking a dynamic Director of Income Generation to join our senior leadership team. This new and pivotal role will be responsible for developing and implementing robust income generation strategies to diversify and grow our funding and trading streams. 

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in fundraising or sales, building strategic partnerships, and driving innovation in income generation. As a key player in our organisation, you will lead a dedicated team and work collaboratively to ensure the sustainability and expansion of our vital programmes.

Key responsibilities

Income Generation Strategy:

• Develop and execute a comprehensive income generation strategy that aligns with the charity’s mission and goals;

• Identify and explore new income streams, including fundraising, partnerships, and product development.

Fundraising:

• Oversee all fundraising activities, including trusts and foundations and individual giving;

• Cultivate and maintain relationships with major donors, funders, and sponsors;

• Develop compelling fundraising campaigns, events and initiatives to attract new supporters;

• Oversee bids and pitches;

• Act as an ambassador for the charity, championing its interests locally and nationally with stakeholders and potential supporters.

Business Development and Partnerships:

• Prepare and manage the income generation budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources;

• Oversee production of annual report and fundraising matters for the annual accounts and audit;

• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and best practices in fundraising management.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

• Stay abreast of trends, opportunities, and challenges in the fundraising, education and social mobility sectors;

• Encourage and implement innovative approaches to income generation;

• Continuously evaluate and improve income generation strategies and processes, including maximising effectiveness of the CRM system (SalesForce).

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Quality Assurance Manager to join an innovative and independent Clinical Trials Unit (UKCRC fully registered) and help to deliver high-quality research in a unique and challenging setting. You will be key to helping us to successfully set-up and deliver an exciting new adaptive platform trial in paediatric intensive care as well as and helping our unit adapt ahead of conducting a phase II drug trial in critically-ill adults. You will ensure best practice, identify risks and mitigation strategies enhance local Standard Operating Procedures, interpret regulatory and audit requirements and provide guidance, training and support for clinical researchers and trial teams. The post will also involve leading in audits along with preparation for MHRA inspections.

What you will need to succeed

The Applicant must have clinical research experience and experience of conducting managing, auditing or monitoring according to the principles of Good Clinical Practice. A sound knowledge of Good Clinical Practice guidelines, the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research, the Data Protection Act and the Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) Regulations 2004 and its amendments is essential.

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal, team working and organisational skills together with a high level of attention to detail. They must be able to work independently with a strong problem-solving ability. The ability to relate to and communicate clearly, sensitively and effectively with people from a variety of professional and personal backgrounds are also essential.

We are recruiting for an enthusiastic Internal Audit Officer to join our Risk & Assurance team. Reporting to the Internal Audit Lead you will have responsibility for planning and delivering assurance reviews across our school feeding programmes worldwide. Duties:

The role is primarily focused on planning and delivering work for a structured plan of reviews across the network. As a junior member of the Internal Audit team, you will conduct these reviews and follow up of any agreed actions with the support and coaching of the Internal Audit Lead. This is a remote role however there will be between 5 and 6 audit field trips per year, each lasting between 1-2 weeks, so you must be happy to travel regularly as part of your role.

About you:
