The Network Lead plays a central role in helping us achieve our vision to end the need for food banks in the UK. This is a varied, proactive and fast-paced role that involves representing the Trussell Trust on policy and public affairs in the region/nation, the leadership of a dynamic team of area managers that supports the network of food banks in the region/nation to deliver emergency food, and the coordination of projects and partnerships to support the food banks in our network to reduce the need for their services locally. 

Role responsibilities 

• Strategic Leadership: Manage the delivery in the region/nation of food bank operations and key strategic projects that are part of the Trussell Trust’s five-year strategy to end the need for food banks.

• Projects and partnerships: Build partnerships and develop projects with organisations to develop and build services and systems that help end the need for food banks, including working with food banks to ensure that local churches (including church leaders) are connected to and have an understanding of the importance of ending the need for food banks in local communities. 

• Policy and public affairs: Engage with a wide range of external bodies, including elected representatives, faith and community organisations, and research bodies. 

• Team Leadership: Provide leadership, support and line management to the area managers. 

• Risk Management: Ensure consistent quality assurance of food banks across the region, in line with guidance from the safeguarding and quality team at the Trussell Trust, and support area managers to deal with complaints and manage food banks with high risks. 

• Cross-organisational working: Act as a liaison between the area team, the wider operations team, and other directorates, managing the flow of ideas and feedback to positive effect.  

Person Specification 

Technical skills and minimum knowledge: 

• Confidently represent the Trussell Trust with a range of stakeholders, including elected representatives, and effectively manage the roll-out of the organisational strategy in the region/nation. 

• Knowledge and experience of policy and public affairs, including a track record of successfully influencing politicians and key decision-makers to achieve strategic goals. 
   

• Knowledge and experience of community development or local service provision. 

• Experience of managing projects and partnerships, from inception to evaluation, to achieve strategic goals. 

• Experience of team leadership. line management and supervision, including dealing with performance issues and using coaching skills. 

• Competent and efficient use of IT, including the main Microsoft Office programs and database management. 

• This role will require an appreciation and understanding of the significance of Christian faith within our food bank network, and the ability to build effective relationships in contexts where Christian faith plays a major part, and in which people of all faiths and none collaborate to make a difference together. Food banks in our network are typically governed by or run in partnership with local churches from across a wide range of denominations and traditions.

The Miscarriage Association (MA) is a national charity dedicated to providing support and information to anyone affected by the loss of a baby in pregnancy. We also raise awareness of the impact of loss, advocate for those affected and challenge the taboos that can make miscarriage a lonely as well as distressing experience.

We are looking for a senior campaigns, media and PR specialist to lead our recently expanded communications team to deliver a compelling and influential comms and campaigns strategy.

You will be responsible for the strategic development and operational delivery of all our campaigns and external communications, finding creative ways to build our brand, increase understanding of pregnancy loss and grow our income. You will manage relationships with the media and lead on securing coverage across online and offline channels, through, for example, press releases, human interest stories, case studies and position statements.

Acting as a key ambassador for the MA, you will also support the CEO to develop and maintain strong relationships with, and represent the charity to, a diverse range of stakeholders. You will also work alongside the CEO, Head of Operations and Service Delivery and other key personnel to contribute to the charity’s strategic vision and plans and help to translate these into communications activities and KPIs.

Retail People Manager

Job Context

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

People Management

- Be responsible and accountable for the day-to-day operations relating to the people side of retail.
- Ensure the shop team and volunteer relationship is a professional and successful one
- Act as the first point of contact for the volunteer administrator in relation to volunteering matters and queries for retail.
- Effectively communicate any relevant information to all shop teams regarding updates, charity activities, incentives, and performance.
- Work closely with management and employees to embed changes and ensure solutions are realistic and sustainable.
- Be able to work closely with the retail management team including the retail sales manager to ensure the people side of the charity is not impacting sales.
- Overseeing the retail portfolio sickness and absence management including allocation and approval of annual leave throughout the year, forward planning contingency strategies ensuring shops are covered all the time even at short notice. Ensuring staffing hours do not exceed there’re banding allocation.
- Be competent in assisting with grievances, supporting with investigations and assisting with disciplinaries.
- Act as deputy safeguarding lead as and when required. Be able to act in an advisory capacity demonstrating a higher level of experience and understanding when dealing with safeguarding issues that arise.
- Be responsible for overseeing and leading with probation placements across our retail sites, acting as point of contact and ensuring that the relevant paperwork is up to date including the risk assessments for each placement.

People Development

- Ability to mentor and support staff through regular one to ones ensuring that they feel fully equipped to achieve optimum success in their work.
- Collaboratively with the HR team review and update the volunteer induction and training programme ensuring all aspects are relevant to the retail portfolio.
- Support staff with capability and performance issues including the management of their own staff issues such as, sickness, disciplinary, grievances and concerns through probation periods.
- Work closely with the retail management team on the delivery of innovative and interactive internal and external training to help staff develop their skill sets and achieve career satisfaction.

Recruitment & Onboarding

- Work closely with HR developing and implementing strategies to improve recruitment, attracting suitable staff, and retaining them.
- Ensure suitable and sufficient coverage of volunteer support in the retail portfolio.
- Lead on the recruitment of new staff members, being able to assist shop managers in developing better teams and building strong foundations in line with the people strategy and recruitment and selection policy.
- Ensure that new staff members are fully trained and placed in a suitable training store.
- Monitor and track performance throughout staff probation periods alongside the retail sales manager.

There are currently just under 600 members with NPH, plus their carers registered, but we are expecting this to continue to rise as awareness and diagnosis of the condition grows.

Delivery  

To manage all enquiries from our members living with NPH and their carers, providing direct one to one support and advice including-

·  Welfare benefit/ income maximisation advice

·  Condition specific support to enable the person living with NPH to have choice and control over their current and future care needs.

·  Signposting /referring to more specialist information and support, internally or to other local, regional or national organisations 

You will also:

· In collaboration with Shine’s National Programmes & Membership Engagement Manager, Health and Services colleagues and external partners, lead the delivery of the NPH awareness week once a year

· Review existing and develop new resources for members with NPH alongside the Health team

· Develop and deliver an annual programme of events and peer support groups for members with NPH and their families and carers

· Oversee social media, Facebook and WhatsApp support groups

· Organise steering groups, providing opportunities for Shine members to guide the development of the service, and engage in consultations and research

· Develop partnership opportunities and closer working relationships with health professionals, statutory organisations and charities

· Identify key campaigns to improve the rights of members with NPH, improving access to statutory services, access to NHS care, awareness regarding diagnosis and treatment.

Person Specification 

 

Experience – essential 

· A minimum of 3 years' experience of working with older people living with dementia

· Experience of project management and delivery

· At least two years’ experience of delivering support and advice services for older people.

 

Knowledge, skills and abilities – essential 

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Ability to build strong relationships both with internal and external stakeholders

· Ability to develop and deliver professional presentations and training in a variety of settings 

· IT literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft 365 and confident in the use of CRM Database systems

· A non-judgmental approach to working with people 

· A good knowledge of adult safeguarding policy, procedures and reporting

Working closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will lead the delivery and development of our literacy and numeracy programme at HMP Leicester, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read.

Ideally you will have some experience of prison settings underpinned by the ability to build relationships and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach.

This role will be prison-based and is offered on a fixed term basis ending in December 2024 with the potential for extension into permanent contract. Together with our peer mentors, you will be responsible for co-producing a programme of workshops, groups and social activities across our local boroughs, working in partnership with a wide range of external organisations. You will also lead on the recruitment, training and management of a team of fantastic volunteer peer mentors who utilise their own lived experience to support others in the local community.

To meet the needs of the people we support you will need to be a proactive self-starter who is able to work some evenings, weekends and work from a number of our different offices. This position is only open to applicants who identify as male,
