The Policy Team
You will be joining Age UK's Policy team, which is a small unit of five staff led by the Head of Policy and part of Age UK's wider Influencing Division. The post holder will be responsible for leading Age UK's policy and influencing work on the areas outlined above and will work closely with other policy staff and with research colleagues.
You will also work with colleagues in other parts of the organisation including Parliamentary Affairs, Media, and Campaigns. The job is varied - for example, it may include writing a response to a government consultation, working with colleagues to develop a research project, meeting with external stakeholders, speaking at a conference, and responding to urgent media enquiries.
Age UK operates hybrid working between home and our London office. The Policy team all come to the office every Wednesday, on the other days the location is flexible depending on the requirements of your job, which will encompass meetings and events taking place in London.

The Vacancy
The Programme Development Manager is committed to supporting colleagues and partners in programme design and development. The team also connects programmatic issues and global policy and advocacy to ensure they are complementary and conducive to external change based on evidence from the ground.
Saferworld’s income is secured primarily from statutory and institutional donors; however, securing funding to support our partners in conflict-affected countries and allow for more flexible programming increasingly requires a more diverse funding base. The Programme Development Manager will support efforts to identify and secure funds from statutory donors, trusts and foundations, and other non-traditional funding mechanisms.
The Programme Development Manager will support a portfolio of Saferworld’s teams in designing and mobilising funding for peace, security and justice programmes. The successful applicant will have a focus of approximately 4 countries, which will be decided based on the candidate’s experience and preference. Working closely with Country Managers/Directors, and programme and grant management colleagues, the post-holder will lead on: coordinating and facilitating programme development processes (including taking the lead in drafting high quality concept notes and proposals, theories of change, logical models, risk matrixes and budgets); developing and supporting the implementation of long-term country funding strategies and donor engagement strategies; and supporting new donor engagement and sustaining relationships with current donors. The post-holder will be responsible for growing institutional funding portfolios in our programmes.
The post-holder will have a successful track record in developing programmes and leading new business development efforts with institutional donors such as the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), United States Government (USG)/United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the European Union (EU), UN agencies and European Governments such as Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). Additional experience in mobilising resource from trusts and foundations and other non-traditional funding mechanisms is desirable.

Part 1: Role Purpose:
We are seeking an outstanding Programme Manager to oversee the management of an exciting new Bengo-funded project piloting an innovative approach to overcome poverty as the primary barrier to education through the development of community-based savings groups. Working closely with Street Child’s national partner, the role holder will support the effective implementation of adaptive programming through hands-on support to implementation teams. Based in Freetown, the role-holder will travel frequently to project locations to monitor progress.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Street Child Germany team to ensure compliance to donor requirements and prepare accurate and timely donor reporting. The Programme Manager will also support the development of Street Child’s growing portfolio of German government, trust and foundations, and corporate funding in Sierra Leone, and wider West-Africa region, contributing to proposal writing, report writing and communications materials.
Knowledge of the German language and experience with Bengo compliance requirements would be a distinct advantage.
Part 2: Key Responsibilities:
1) Programme Management – 50%
- Work in collaboration with partner management to ensure quality and timely implementation of programme activities.
- Work alongside the implementation team to provide strong hands-on support in programme delivery and MEAL approaches, identifying and addressing challenges and blockages.
- Work closely with implementation teams to improve data analysis and learning, supporting the development of remediation plans where necessary.
- Alongside colleagues, provide training, guidance and advice to partner delivery staff to ensure effective and accurate use of programme documents and tools.

Part 1: Role Purpose:
We are seeking an outstanding Programmes Officer for an exciting opportunity to support Street Child’s programme portfolio in Sierra Leone. The key objectives of this role are to work closely with Street Child’s national partner to support the effective implementation of adaptive programming, and to support accurate and timely donor reporting across a range of institutional, trust & foundations, and corporate donors. The ideal candidate will have strong written and excel skills, with experience of MEAL and financial management processes, and a strong preference for German language skills and experience of working with Bengo funding. The role will include regular, detailed interaction with Street Child’s UK and European fundraising community, in support of donor reporting and future funding opportunities
The role holder will work in close collaboration with Street Child’s regional Head of Programmes, based in Freetown, as well as partner Programmes, MEAL and Finance teams to coordinate timely and quality implementation and reporting across the programmes portfolio.
Part 2: Key Responsibilities:
1) Reporting & Programme Funding Engagement – 35%
- Review narrative and financial quarterly reporting from country teams and provide feedback.
- Lead on the consolidation of narrative reporting (low-mid value donors) for a variety of donors within the portfolio.
- Ensure regular information flow to Street Child communications and fundraising teams, inclusive of collection and drafting of case studies and photos.
- Supporting income-generation opportunities - potentially including supporting donor visits, in-country donor engagement and broad-based support to the group’s global programme-funding efforts for Sierra Leone.
2) Programme & MEAL Management – 35%
- Work in collaboration with national partner and cross-country implementation teams across Liberia and Sierra Leone to ensure quality and timely implementation of project activities.
- Work alongside social, enterprise and education teams across both countries to support a joined-up approach to project implementation and MEAL, ensuring relevant data are collected with due care and utilised for project planning, reporting and learning.
- Provide strong support to programme staff and partners in Sierra Leone in programme and MEAL department.

Part 1: Role Purpose:
The purpose of this role is to lead improvements in the financial management of Street Child’s partner, Street Child of Liberia (SCoL), a national education and child protection organisation with nationwide presence and annual budget of up to $1m. The role holder will also manage Street Child’s financial reporting and compliance requirements in delivering programmes in Liberia.
The role will report to Street Child’s West Africa Regional Finance Manager, with oversight of Street Child of Liberia’s finance team, and a close working relationship with SCoL SMT, Street Child’s Freetown based Head of Sierra Leone / Liberia Programmes and Monrovia based Programmes Officer.
The role provides financial oversight of programmes in Liberia, facilitating accurate and timely donor reporting, strong budget management and excellent record keeping. Key aspects of this role include: improve financial management and reporting systems; ensure a strong control environment and maintain strong record keeping; empower programmes and leadership teams to have strong financial management and grant management capabilities. The role also serves as a link between Street Child of Liberia and Street Child UK, delivering monthly requisitions, annual budget information and other information as required, with scope to extend support across Street Child’s regional programmes portfolio as required.
Part 2: Key Responsibilities:
1) Ensure robust financial management and reporting systems to facilitate accurate donor reporting, strong budget management and transparency for budgeting (40%)
- Ensure that all staff are using the QuickBooks finance system in place at Street Child of Liberia to provide accurate and timely recording of transactions – providing training, review, support and direct input as needed.
- Ensure that all month end processes are carried out in a timely manner including month end closure processes, bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and generating reports
- Providing reliable donor reports, Budget vs Actual reports to the Director and Programmes staff to facilitate good planning and anticipation of any changes needed to programmes delivery.
- Ensure that donor expenditure is recorded accurately and finance reports are of high quality with full supporting transaction listings reconciled to the finance system and delivered to deadlines in accordance donor requirements. Report on all costs incurred both at Street Child of Liberia and Street Child HQ.
- Preparation of all donor reports, working with Partner Finance team and programmes staff as needed to ensure that they are delivered on time and with appropriate sign off.
- Support donor due diligence and donor audits by provision of information required.
- Provide input as necessary for all donor budget proposals, ensuring that costs requested are complete and reasonable seek approval for all donor proposal budgets before they are submitted to donors
- Facilitate the year end audit, over-setting the end to end of the annual audit process.
2) Strengthening the control environment and record keeping (30%)
- Review and assess the effectiveness of internal controls and recommend changes and improvements as required , and review any improvements in internal controls recommended by auditors or donors.
- Work with colleagues to devise a delivery plan to ensure that improvements are met, and support the delivery of that plan.
- Strong financial procedures are in place to accompany all payments and improvements are made to the payments system including in particular justifying the use of cash and advances.
- Ensure appropriate bank & cash management procedures are in place and operating effectively, including bank reconciliations for all accounts, cash counts and cash transfers to field sites.
- Ensure robust procurement processes are in place and being followed, working with the procurement team to make any changes needed and ensure that all staff are clear on the required procurement process.

- Ensure that monthly requisitions (the process for requesting monthly transfers from HQ) are robust, evidence based and submitted on time each month.

About the Role
As a Programme Officer at Unfold, you’ll ensure that our volunteer mentors feel supported and prepared for their work with young people. Alongside helping to recruit and onboard new mentors, including organising their training and reviewing their progress, you’ll be Volunteer Mentors main point of contact, making sure they have a rewarding and impactful experience. Your work will also include engaging with referrers, parents, and young people themselves, providing guidance and answering questions to ensure everyone feels connected to our mission.
You’ll also be hands-on with our youth programs, coordinating weekly Youth Support Groups and engaging with young people in outreach activities. You’ll work closely with our Programme Manager to build relationships with community organisations and support our Youth Advisory Council. About the opportunity
Critical to our mission, we are looking to recruit a London Programme Manager to be responsible for a geographical area and the schools within it, whilst supporting geographical expansion. You will oversee your region’s Action Tutoring programmes, liaising with our partner schools and developing new school partnerships, whilst supporting your team of Programme Coordinators to engage pupils and support them to build relationships with stakeholders and retain a strong pool of tutors.
As a Programme Manager, you will line manage up to seven Programme Coordinators to ensure they effectively manage their caseload of schools, whilst driving the quality of programmes and ensuring that the delivery of programmes meets organisational KPIs. This role will take a lead on new school recruitment, regularly pitching to Senior Leaders within schools and managing school partnerships within your region to ensure Action Tutoring’s growth targets are met. Additionally, you will contribute to the wider leadership of the Action Tutoring programme team, lead on programme-specific projects to support the programme department’s priorities and will be expected to support the wider learning and development needs of the Programme Coordinator team.
The position would suit someone who enjoys working with people who have a frontline role, gets energy from pitching to schools and wants to increase their management experience in an exciting and rapidly developing charity. The successful candidate should be able to manage their own workload to a high standard as well as support others, have excellent attention to detail, be adaptable, relational and used to problem-solving, and be able to work well with a range of
stakeholders and be confident in carrying out administrative tasks to support programme delivery.
