The Head of Operations will work collaboratively with other team members and the Officers and Trustees in all aspects of:

The role:
The BSAVA is looking for an experienced policy professional in the areas of policy development and legislative change set against a backdrop of a complex and regulated environment. The role operates within a changing landscape dealing with high-profile issues for the sector.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape BSAVA’s policies and national legislation with the aim of influencing outcomes of benefit to the veterinary profession, its clients and the health and welfare of companion animals.
Skills and experience:
We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a track record of success, who can demonstrate excellent understanding of policy-making and legislative change in an unpredictable environment. They will have significant previous experience of working in a policy role, ideally within a life-sciences or a veterinary or human medicine setting.
Experience of working with central government departments along with an understanding of parliamentary processes are preferable for the role. Equally important is the ability to analyse and critique information, formulate evidence-based solutions and accurately convey proposals to influence outcomes.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, with strong written and verbal skills. They will be able to demonstrate effective engagement skills across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, including the membership. Diplomacy and political awareness will be essential to ensure successful outcomes. Experience of PR and reputation management as part of the policy-making agenda is desirable.
The candidate must be flexible to work outside of normal office hours depending on the demands of the role which are often driven by the external environment and national events. The role is hybrid, incorporating working from home with travelling to meetings in or around London as required. Therefore, to facilitate the needs of the role and the organisation, ideally candidates would be located in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire or Oxfordshire.
Other essential skills include:

About the BSAVA:
The BSAVA is a professional membership association which exists to advance care for companion animals. With a membership of more than 11,000 veterinary surgeons, vet nurses and students, we work in the UK and internationally to promote excellence in small animal practice through education and science, by facilitating training, conducting research, and developing policy. Each year we deliver numerous education courses, host a large small-animal Congress, and publish books, manuals, apps, and magazines.
This post sits within the Policy and (Corporate) Communications Department and reports to the Head of Department.

The Eve Appeal is the UK’s leading charity working on prevention of the five gynaecological cancers – womb, ovarian, cervical, vulval and vaginal.
Our aim is to prevent gynaecological cancers and save lives by raising awareness and funding ground-breaking research focused on risk prediction, earlier detection and developing screening for all of the five gynae cancers.

The It Gets Better Project was founded in 2010 in America. Since then, affiliated charities have been formed in 20 different countries with It Gets Better UK having formally launched in October 2018.
As we continue to grow and scale our activity, and move from being a volunteer-led organisation to a small core staff team, we are now looking for a passionate CEO.
As the CEO, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to the organisation. Your primary focus will be on expanding and growing the charity,amplifying our impact, and ensuring the sustainability of our work. You will work
closely with the trustees to develop and implement long-term strategies, while also overseeing day-to-day operations.
Key responsibilities:
Strategic Development
1. Deliver the strategic plans to expand the reach and impact of the charity, including continuous review and improvement
2. Work with the Board of Trustees and staff to develop and implement identified priorities to deliver effectiveness and growth for the organisation.
3. Foster internal and external commitment to the vision and mission and instil the values of the organisation in all its initiatives.
4. Embed measurement of social impact across all aspects of the organisation.
Finances and Fund development
5. Lead fundraising efforts to secure funding for existing programs and future growth.
6. Build and maintain relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders to advance the organisation's mission.
7. Ensure that the organisation operates with financial efficiency and accountability.
Governance
8. Advise Board of Trustees to discharge their duties effectively, including developing agenda and preparing information and/or reports for Board meetings, making recommendations, maintaining records of meetings and decisions, undertaking strategic planning, assisting in Trustee recruitment, facilitating risk management
9. Ensure legal, statutory and regulatory compliance and appropriate accreditation
Leadership and management
10. Provide visionary leadership to inspire and motivate staff, volunteers, and supporters.
11. Oversee the development and implementation of programs and initiatives that meet the needs of the charity.
12. Oversee all human resources topics and manage and develop all paid staff
Communications and Public Relations
13. Represent the charity in public forums, conferences, and media appearances to raise awareness and advocacy

Fowler’s Syndrome UK (Registered Charity number 1196903) is a unique patient and clinician led charity that works to raise awareness, promote education and encourage research into the debilitating bladder condition Fowler’s Syndrome. The condition solely affects women and Fowler’s Syndrome UK (FSUK) is the only charity in the world to directly support women with this condition.
Fowler’s syndrome is a life changing and currently almost untreatable condition, affecting up to 20,000 women in the UK. It causes full or partial urinary retention and solely affects women*, meaning they have problems passing urine due to a difficulty in relaxing the urinary sphincter. The peak age of onset is 26. It was first described by Professor Clare Fowler, Emeritus professor of Uro-Neurology at UCLh, and FSUK’s patron, in 1985.
We estimate that there are in excess of 20,000 women in the UK suffering from, but not necessarily diagnosed with, the condition, because of the lack of knowledge about Fowler’s Syndrome both from a patient and clinician perspective.
85% of women with Fowler’s Syndrome say the condition has had a severe or devastating impact on their life.
75% of those with FS have been told their urinary symptoms are due to anxiety or ‘all in their head’
There is low awareness of the condition among the medical community outside of specialist hospitals. Only an estimated 30% of GPs are aware of Fowler’s Syndrome. Once diagnosed, there are few resources available for patients and limited treatment options. Many women feel alone and unsupported.
Our mission is to provide resources, promote education and facilitate research into Fowler’s syndrome; so women with the condition have stigma free access to a timely diagnosis, suitable and effective treatment options, care and psychological support.

The Role: Administrator
The administrator’s role is to support the CEO in the daily management of the charity. This will include administration, delivering resources, comms including social media and website, outreach and events, fundraising and research. It will also include supporting the CEO and Patient Liaison with seminars and conferences, and support groups.
Administration: Support the CEO and the Finance and Governance lead with daily activities, including but not limited to grant applications, basic finance administration, project management, project delivery, database management, office management. Objective: Improve efficiency and quality of the charity’s management
Resources: Supporting the CEO and working to deliver first class resources. Working with the CEO and Patient Liaison to efficiently and effectively run the roll out of our resources, following the CEO’s guidelines and the charity’s mission and vision. This will include Healthcare professional (HCP) leaflets, Patient leaflets, a catheter support series, mental health support series, Pain management support from pharmacists and Physiotherapist led sessions. This will also include management of zoom and in person groups, dissemination of information on studies and surveys.
Comms: Manage the patient database including GDPR, manage newsletters, PR, website. Manage FSUK’s social media, with direction from the CEO. Daily posts plus responding to queries and signposting. Social media partnerships. Monthly email to database. Basic updates to website
Outreach and events: Drive awareness of FSUK in the local community and beyond Work with CEO to manage merchandising, registration, setup, logistics of events. Find, plan and represent FSUK at events. Manage yearly even calendar. Working with the CEO and administrator to plan, organise and run events, including transformative one-day seminar for healthcare professionals and a two-day seminar for FSUK users and clinicians.
Fundraising: Help the CEO and Patient liaison with fundraising, both on an individual and trust basis.
Community led research: Assist the CEO in creating patient led community research.
Research: Assist the CEO and work with the Patient Liaison in creating and conducting research. Including Patient perspectives input into consensus guidelines for non-surgical management, Dr. Ingrid Hoeritzauer, Patient experiences with sacral neuromodulation, Dr. Caroline Selai, Awareness of FS among UK urology community, Prof Jalesh Panicker via University Cambridge, Physiotherapy treatment experiences with FS and CIUR, Dr. Ingrid Hoeritzauer. Our research will help enable women to receive the support they need and fulfil their potential, offering quicker diagnosis and better treatments and enabling our community to thrive.
There may be occasions where staff are required to work out of hours or support at events, including wish related activities such as our annual wish family Christmas party or wish community events, cheering runners at the London marathon or working at our annual fundraising gala. The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation and the overall business objectives of the organisation.
