At West Devon CVS, we are looking for a new Chief Officer to provide leadership, direction and overall mangement of the charity and our friendly team of 12 staff. 

The role of Chief Officer in a VCSE infrastructure support organisation is wide-ranging and requires an agile leader, adept in relationship and people management and multi-tasking as well as being fearless in furthering the aims and objectives of the VCSE sector in West Devon. Someone who is capable of operating at both a strategic and an operational level.

Our Services and Projects

• Leadership and advocacy: We provide leadership in our community, strengthening our sector’s voice and influence on key decision-makers and funders.
• Partnerships and collaborations: We create and nurture opportunities for collaborative working by building networks and partnerships between local organisations and strategic partners so that communities are better equipped to collaborate and work together to develop and deliver projects; to respond in times of crisis; to understand need and develop solutions
• Community Development: Practical support to local voluntary and community organisations so that people and communities become more resilient and able to flourish. We provide training, resources and advice to strengthen the capabilities of local groups, enabling them to develop and strengthen their services.
• Active Citizenship: Active Citizenship and Volunteering is integral to thriving communities. We encourage and nurture volunteering opportunities, so that people can build connections and work together on things they care about, driving positive change locally.
• Health and Wellbeing Projects: Our projects deliver improved health and wellbeing outcomes where they can be supported by services from the not for profit sector.  Current projects are Social Prescribing, Hospital Discharge and HOPE workshop facilitation. Whilst these projects are aimed at individuals it is with the explicit aim of re engaging them with their communities. The understanding of the services required and the ability to support services provide a wrap around service to the groups concerned.

In addition to our Prevention Services, we have recently opened an emergency night shelter for young people and have an established team of experienced youth support workers.

The RSPB, Europe’s leading nature conservation NGO, is seeking a Director of Supporter Fundraising to lead the charity’s work in recruiting and stewarding the next generation of individual supporters to help address the nature and climate emergency.

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) is a charity for the conservation of birds and nature, bringing people together who love birds and other wildlife, and who want to take action to restore the health and diversity of the natural world. The charity now manages and protects 160,000 hectares of land across the four countries of the UK.

Public support has been at the centre of RSPB’s work since its foundation as a campaigning organisation in 1889. With 1.1 million current members contributing over £95m to the charity’s cause in 2024, the RSPB has set itself a bold ambition to increase supporter numbers and net income from this core area.

Working closely with the Executive Director for Income and Conservation Investment and other senior stakeholders across RSPB, the Director of Supporter Fundraising will ensure that the organisation maintains and increases its income in membership, individual giving, legacies, in memoriam and community fundraising. The role will be responsible for a large team working to develop new strategies and to engage and grow a diverse supporter base, enabling the charity to inspire long-term support and active engagement with their work.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in growing a large and complex individual giving or subscription programme across multiple products and channels. They will also have demonstrable experience of leading successful organisational transformation to create long-term value, as well as of leading projects within a complex stakeholder or matrix management environment. Significant experience in individual supporter fundraising or consumer marketing through direct marketing techniques will be essential.

As a leader, the successful candidate will have strong collaboration skills with the ability to inspire, develop and motivate teams to achieve challenging goals in a variety of contexts. They will also be able to use their networking and interpersonal skills to build excellent internal and external relationships and must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performing environment. Finally, they will have a commitment to the values and vision of RSPB and to mobilising support for a thriving natural world.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to work within our policy, evidence and influencing team to achieve change for people with breast cancer in London.

You’ll play a key role leading the development and delivery of our influencing work in London. You’ll be part of our new regional policy and influencing function within the policy, evidence and influencing team at Breast Cancer Now. This new element of the team will enable us to continue to deliver our impactful influencing work at a regional level for people affected by breast cancer.  

You’ll maintain knowledge and expertise of breast cancer services and care in London which will inform our national policy positioning and plans, build our stakeholder relationships and influence change in London. This will include focusing on topics such as waiting times, screening, and secondary breast cancer.

About you

You’ll have a good understanding of the current health landscape in London, or across England, along with experience of working in a relevant stakeholder, strategic, influencing or policy role.

Along with strong strategic, analytical and communication skills, you’ll have a proven ability to build strong external relationships, and influence change within the NHS at a local or national level. You’ll have the ability to work well independently while managing a varied workload, and the capability to lead projects and work with teams across the UK.

Oasis are now in a position to employ an experienced Youth Development Worker to work alongside the children’s, youth and community hub team in Oldham. The role will be focussed on the Oldham South community (surrounding Oasis Academies Oldham and Limeside) working closely with the academies as part of Oasis Hub Oldham.

As a Youth Development Worker you will;

· Work as part of the community hub team to plan and deliver youth services that address the needs of the local neighborhood, including open access, holiday and community activities.

· Deliver targeted programmes of work for young people impacted by youth violence.

· Build positive and supportive relationships with young people to develop their skills, knowledge and aspirations.

· Strengthen and sustain working relationships with local partners to provide holistic, sustainable and bespoke support for young people.

· Support communities impacted by critical incidents.

Amongst other requirements, the successful post holder must have:

· Relevant experience OR qualification in Youth & Community (JNC), Social Work (QSW) or SEND.

· Proven experience working with young people ‘at risk’.

· Reliability, with a flexible approach to changes and able to work unsociable hours.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WORKER (ISLE OF SHEPPEY)

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Community Development Worker to work as part of our Oasis Hub on the Isle of Sheppey, to engage and work with the community by helping them to access Hub activities, and the social supermarket project.

Key responsibilities will be:

1. To deliver the Sheppey Support Bus project and ensure its day-to-day operational tasks are fulfilled.
2. To liaise with our community partners including supermarkets, Fairshare etc to support and provide for Oasis activities, including the Sheppey Support Bus.
3. To monitor and evaluate activities using monitoring tools available to the team.
4. To develop other opportunities that will enhance our offer to the local community.

The successful post holder must have:

• A relevant professional qualification in Community Work or able to demonstrate qualification by experience.
• Successful experience of working with complex communities.
• The ability to deal with private information and sensitive issues with a calm and confident approach in difficult situations.
• Ability to function in diverse settings and with a wide range of professional agencies.
• Self-motivation, resilience, excellent organisational/administrative and inter-personal skills are essential for this role.
