We are recruiting a new Chief Financial Officer to join our leadership team, working closely with our Board and leadership team colleagues to provide ongoing advice and insights on the financial health and sustainability of the organisation, ensuring that we are best placed as an ambitious non-profit enterprise to take advantage of new opportunities that become available to us in the future.  Overseeing a small team, you will drive continuous improvement of our finance function, as well as work across the organisation to build even greater financial awareness and accountability as we continue to grow.  As CFO, you will also contribute to the wider business strategy, as well as having oversight of our risk management, IT and Information Governance functions.

To be successful in this role, you will be a chartered accountant with excellent strategic finance skills gained at a leadership level, including substantial prior experience in P&L management, financial modelling and project accounting in a fast-paced environment.  You will also bring strong controls and governance experience, with an understanding of what good looks like in finance.  With exceptional relationship building skills, you will be a trusted advisor to staff at all levels and confident in presenting to influential internal and external stakeholders.  While we welcome candidates from all backgrounds, we are particularly interested in those who bring blended sector experience across commercial and social enterprise or charity settings.  Experience of working in a project-based or consulting environment is also beneficial, especially with organisations that work closely with the public sector.

The Sentencing Academy, established in 2019, has made significant strides in advocating for effective sentencing practices and enhancing the understanding of sentencing among professionals and the public. About You

Additionally, you will have a proven track record in leading the production of research and/or policy publications. What We Offer

The post is offered on a full time basis at 37.5 hours per week on a permanent basis. Part time hours of no less than 30 hours per week could be considered for the right candidate if required. An attractive package is offered alongside flexible hybrid working arrangements. The salary for a full time post at this level is £65,000.

Responsibilities

Administrative support:

• Assist the Production Manager with mailing specifications, collating internal information, creating purchase orders, and related administration.
• Support the Media Manager in arranging regional coverage for overseas staff in the UK.
• Provide administrative, planning, and organisational support to the Head of Communications and other team members.
• Administer and curate the archive of MAF documents.
• Work with the HR team to collect and store data processing consent forms.

Scheduling and Planning:

• Update and maintain the organisation’s print and digital communications schedule in collaboration with audience managers.

Content Creation:

• Contribute to digital communications including website content and social media.
• Assist in creating monthly print and digital communication documents at design and proofing stages.
• Support design tasks such as picture editing and layout.
• Create subtitles for digital content.
• Participate in creative idea and planning sessions

Updates and Research:

• Monitor staff blogs for potential stories and produce a weekly roundup of social media posts.
• Monitor external websites and news sources for relevant stories and brief teams accordingly.

Media Library Management:

• Upload and remove media assets, ensuring accurate metadata and compliance with MAF procedures.

Terms and Conditions

• Location: This is a hybrid role with two days at MAF UK, 1st Floor Castle House, Castle Hill Avenue, Folkestone, Kent, CT20 2TQ.  One day per week will be spent at our Operations Centre, MAF International, Henwood, Ashford, TN24 8DH and the other two days can be from home.

We are looking for a new member of our Bereavement Services team, to grow our capacity and help us reach even more people bereaved by epilepsy. Our bereavement services are provided for free, completely confidentially, to anyone who needs us. Often via telephone or email support, though we also have a thriving and complex Casework Service, helping bereaved navigate the inquest or investigation into their loved one’s death.

This new position will provide first-hand support to the existing team of 3, learning from their experiences and expertise about how we support people bereaved by epilepsy, and how this way of working influences the work we do across the charity.

You’ll be learning the ropes from day 1, getting stuck in with any tasks needed to help support the Bereavement Services team – this could range from admin tasks, answering initial enquiries from bereaved supporters (via phone or email), and will eventually lead to you taking initial calls with bereaved supporters, sharing with them the different ways the charity can support them, and helping us understand how best we can help them. There is a real potential for this role to grow and develop with the right candidate.

This is a Hybrid / Remote role. The SUDEP Action offices are based in Wantage, Oxfordshire. All staff are expected to visit the office every 6 weeks for a team meeting as a minimum.

We are recruiting a Standards Officer to join our small and friendly Standards team.

The role of the Standards function is to monitor newspaper, magazine and digital publishers’ compliance with the Editors’ Code of Practice and to take action to address concerns about editorial standards, including by undertaking investigations into serious standards failures as necessary. It’s a busy team that coordinates closely with others at IPSO and outside the organisation, engaging with members of the public, journalists, and experts on a wide variety of subjects. Some recent issues that the standards team has worked on are reporting of sexual offences, suicide, major incidents, and domestic abuse.

As the Standards Officer, you will carry out a range of tasks, including analysing information drawn from complaints received by IPSO, supporting the annual statements process and engaging with a range of representative groups who have concerns about press reporting. You will work closely with the Head of Standards and other colleagues across IPSO.

About You

This is a role for someone who is interested in news and journalism, has excellent communication and analytical skills, and enjoys working with others to achieve a shared purpose. Candidates who demonstrate relevant experience will be given an opportunity to demonstrate their skills through a written exercise prior to short-listing for interview. Position Summary

The Global Center is seeking an early/mid-career professional to support capacity development programming that advances equitable collaboration between civil society, government, private sector, and multilateral actors to realize a more just and secure world.

Working under the supervision of colleagues addressing cross-cutting thematic and geographic programs, the successful candidate has a demonstrated passion for human rights, security, and development and is keen to contribute their skills to a diverse range of programs.

The position will initially support Global Center programs on rehabilitation and reintegration of former terrorism offenders in Bangladesh and Indonesia, as well as other Global Center projects relating to countering the financing of terrorism and other related issues. As needed, other engagements may include work to empower civil society, advance justice and good governance, and influence national, regional, and international security policy and practice.

Working alongside staff in London, Nairobi, New York, or DC you will collaborate with international experts, project partners, and funders to develop and implement programs globally, including regular travel to countries of operation.

Responsibilities will include a range of operational and administrative tasks in support of Global Center’s programs, including contributing to planning, delivery, evaluation and program activities; logistical planning, coordination, and execution of events and meetings; drafting and editing of project documents, correspondence, and meeting materials; data entry; note taking; research assistance; communication with partners, diplomats and vendors; database management and contacts maintenance; as well as other tasks as assigned.

• Excellent written communication skills are essential. Foreign language skills are desired, but not required.
• Experience interacting with internal and external contacts such as government and policymakers, civil society, and donors (experience in the Global South is an advantage).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
• Must have authorization to work in the United Kingdom, Kenya, or the United States.

The new Executive Director will be responsible for leading the organisation in developing a new strategy to guide us through the next phase growth, while leading the team through an new political climate.

Grants fundraising is of particular importance to the role, and the successful candidate will be the lead person responsible for securing funding for our campaigning and organising work and maintaining strong relationships with donors.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about addressing health, climate, racial and economic injustice and the health impacts of conflict and militarisation, and who understands the vital role that health professionals have in making the connections between these issues and working for peace, to make the world a better, fairer and safer place.

You will have an understanding of the national and international framework within which Medact operates, and you will be able to demonstrate that your values and politics align with those of our organisation. Ideally you will have experience of working in health or with health workers, so that you have an appreciation of the culture within which they work and the potential of their contribution.

You will have strong leadership skills so that, valuing the collaborative approach of our team and respecting varying views, you are able to arrive at clear decisions. You will also have a track record in fundraising in similar fields and a good knowledge of a range of potential supporters.

Location: This role is based in Merseyside and is currently homeworking with travel within the region, and weekly in-person team meetings. We recommend that this role visits the London office a minimum of once a quarter.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

The Community Education Officer plays an important role in both collaborating with communities to take part in shared learning and disseminating findings to wider audiences throughout the project, informing how it develops and boosting its impact. You will work in partnership with individuals and their communities, under the supervision of the Senior Project Manager as part of the education and advocacy programme. This will include cooperative identification of changes to the food system in Knowsley in the last century, engaging project participants in discussing those changes and raising awareness to wider audiences, supporting the project to achieve its aim of creating a shared understanding and celebrating Knowsley’s heritage and influencing strategies to shape the future of the borough, through sustained, quality engagement. You will support the Community Research Coordinator to capture qualitative and quantitative data that will inform reporting and contribute project monitoring and evaluation, participant outcomes and signposting groups & individuals to project activities with the aim of improving community participation & influence in our work.

The post holder will need to be proactive, working both independently and as part of a team, whilst managing and prioritising a busy workload.

The main strategic aims this role is responsible for:

Aim 8: FAIR ACCESS TO GOOD FOOD  

By the end of 2025, low-income communities in the UK will have secure, dignified access to nutritious food with low environmental impact, challenging the supermarket redistribution and food bank model

Aim 9: COMMUNITY-ANCHORED FOOD ECONOMIES  

By the end of 2025, regional, participatory, celebratory food economies anchored in place and community will grow, challenging the corporate food model.

Key Responsibilities 

• Primary responsibility for leading the collaborative learning process with community stakeholders in Knowsley (e.g., community groups, local schools).
• Work with individuals, groups and communities to explore the food and farming heritage of Knowsley, creating a shared understanding of what came before Knowsley’s establishment as a Metropolitan Borough.
• Contribution towards the planning and execution of events and workshops in Knowsley in collaboration with the team at Feedback and key community stakeholders.
• Primary responsibility for creating educational resources from information obtained through delivery of Feedback Global’s Heritage Lottery Fund Project, to be utilised throughout this project and in future.
• Working alongside the project delivery team you will work to capture stories and knowledge about residents’ experiences of growing, producing and consuming local or seasonal food.
• Celebrate Knowsley and its heritage through the creation of projects and workshops in collaboration with key stakeholders.
• Create educational resources from information obtained considering the present and future possibilities.
• Capture stories and knowledge about residents’ experiences of growing, producing and consuming local or seasonal food over time.
• Work closely with stakeholders to reach project outcomes
• Produce tangible solutions to issues Knowsley faces
• Use information obtained for advocacy and campaigns to benefit neighbourhoods, change that improves land use, access to fresh locally produced food and creates upskilling and employment opportunities.
• Explore Knowsley archives to understand changes in land use.
• Collate a multitude of existing heritage materials whilst adding dialogue from living residents.
• Assist with the recruitment and ongoing communication between community curators.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential criteria:

• Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills and the ability to work alongside a wide range of stakeholders.
• High level of IT skills
• Experience of engagement in local community settings.
• Knowledge and interest in food as a way to engage people in advocacy for change.
• Awareness of partners, stakeholders and projects within Knowsley and the wider Merseyside area.
• Ability to regularly travel in and around Knowsley (public transport, cycle or drive)

This role is perfect for someone progressing their corporate fundraising career, but not yet ready to specialise in account management or new business. A priority will be to ensure that we really support and value our existing partners, but you will also have the opportunity to research and develop new opportunities with the Head of New Business. Valuing the importance of the day-to-day routine of administration, data entry etc will also be central to this role and an important responsibility.

This role is about shaping and growing corporate fundraising income and so priorities may change and there could be juggling of priorities, so it’s important that this is an environment that you have experienced before and can thrive in. You’ll be successful in this role if you have a creative and purposeful mindset, with a desire to make the most of opportunities while also being able to ruthlessly prioritise. Our Direct Marketing Team is part of this department, and recruits and develops supporters. We are seeking a Direct Marketing Officer to join this team to manage and deliver a series of high standard direct marketing campaigns across our Regular Giving programme. This individual will be recruiting, retaining and upgrading regular donors to generate income through a variety of direct marketing methods such as direct dialogue, DRTV, digital, and direct mail. They will be encouraging regular monthly gifts or support via one of our main products such as general Regular Giving and Sponsorship, our Lottery, Value Exchange programme and other methods of committed giving as they arise.
