Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.) is a long-term (chronic), fluctuating, neurological disease that causes symptoms affecting many body systems, more commonly the nervous and immune systems. M.E. affects an estimated 250,000 people in the UK, and around 17 million people worldwide.
Action for M.E. is the only charity in the UK providing direct support to children and adults with M.E. We provide vital support services, campaign for change and invest in ground-breaking research to help put an end to the ignorance, injustice and neglect experienced by people with M.E.
We are looking for an empathic and resilient individual to join a friendly and well-established team of part-time, remote-based Information and Support Officers, on a 12-month contract. The purpose of this role is to provide a holistic, client-centred, effective and efficient Information and Support Service to people affected by M.E. We do this primarily via outgoing calls made in response to triaged voicemail messages, and also via email.
You can choose to be home-based anywhere in the UK, work from our Bristol office, or a hybrid of the two.
Our Information and Support Service team has a deep understanding of the issues affecting people with M.E. and their family and carers. Some of our clients come to us in considerable distress so this work isn’t always easy, but it can be incredibly rewarding and is valued by our clients and the wider organisation.
You will need experience of working in a service providing information, advice, support or advocacy by telephone and email (or proven transferable skills). You will be experienced and confident at working with people in distress, and identifying and escalating safeguarding concerns, with the courage and emotional resilience to set and maintain realistic boundaries.

- Offering emotional support via active, empathic listening, including to people in significant distress.
- Setting and maintaining boundaries; managing clients’ expectations and ensuring commitments to them are met.
- Helping clients unpick a situation which seems overwhelming and break down complex situations into discrete issues which can then be progressed.
- Working with the client to understand their needs and wishes, empowering them to make informed choices and to take action to achieve their self-identified goals.
- Providing information and support on a wide range of issues, including on sensitive and confidential matters, in a way that is tailored and appropriate to the individual.
- Identifying safeguarding concerns as they arise from contact with clients and escalating these to a manager, in line with our organisational Safeguarding Policies.
- Making safeguarding referrals where directed to by the Information and Support Supervisor or other manager.

- Educated to A level standard or equivalent experience in a similar role is preferred, however no one specific qualification is required.
- Experience working on a helpline as part of an information, support, navigator or advocacy service, supporting clients to identify options and services available to them.
- An understanding of the challenges facing people with a long-term health conditions, physical impairments or disabilities, such as M.E.
- Demonstrable experience of working in a person-centred, needs-led way.
- Experience identifying and escalating safeguarding concerns, working strictly within organisational policies and procedures.
- Experience of working with people in distress, including people who disclose suicidal thoughts.
- Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly, systematically and with nuance, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy while setting boundaries; emotionally resilient and resourceful, with ability to adapt in the face of challenging circumstances to maintain your wellbeing.
- Strong team player and also able to work on own initiative; ability to work remotely while building strong relationships with your manager and peers.
- Ability to analyse complex situations, identify options available to clients and signpost appropriately.
- MS Office skills including Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel, and proficiency with web-related programmes and software.

the3million is looking for a new Community Organiser to help us build the power of EU citizens in the UK and of their non-EU family members, working alongside two other Organisers in our team and the members of our EU Citizens’ Campaigns Network
Since Brexit, EU citizens in the UK and their family members have been brought under the Hostile Environment. the3million has been providing information to EU citizens and has continuously advocated for a fairer immigration system, especially in making the EU Settlement Scheme more accessible to all.
We provide a platform for EU citizens to become politically active and use their voices to advocate for themselves. The Community Organiser will be part of a team to create opportunities for EU citizens to have increased capacity to engage in activism and lead the change they want to see in the UK, their home.
This role is at an officer level and suitable for people who are looking for their first paid role in Organising, but have had some grassroots experience, even if on an informal or voluntary basis. You can expect to be mentored by an experienced Community Organiser and thereby learn a lot while on the job. More experienced candidates are also welcome to apply.We are currently in the process of applying for funding to extend this role. If we are successful, the contract will be extended by 2 years and we will work with the successful Organiser on a progression route, reviewing the job holder’s salary level after they have been in the role for 6 months.
Position type: Part time, between 3 to 4 days a week, depending on the successful candidate’s preference

**Duties and responsibilities **
1. Co-lead the3million’s “EU Citizens’ Campaigns Network”

Working with the Community Organiser - Campaigns to recruit more members of the EU Citizens’ Campaigns Network by regularly reaching out to relevant communities and booking 1-1 meetings with key community leaders;

Working with the Community Organiser - Campaigns to support and guide our existing Network members made up of over 40 community leaders who have a variety of backgrounds and levels of experience in campaigning, developing their confidence and ability to become effective change-makers and encouraging them to take coordinated, strategic actions to advance our campaigns;

Co-facilitate monthly Network meetings: setting agendas, facilitating Breakout rooms, taking minutes and following up with Network members on their agreed actions;

Support the3million’s campaigns by supporting our Head of Policy and Advocacy on our MP-facing work in Parliament and our Communications Manager to ensure that our campaigns are featured on our social media, newsletters and clearly communicated to key stakeholders such as partner organisations in the migration sector and to key community leaders on the ground
2. Relationship-building and in-person workshops

Rolling out a series of “listening sessions” and “Know Your Rights” workshops with community groups across the country: liaising with relevant community leaders to visit them and their communities, this may include working on Saturdays (and taking time off in lieu during the week) and running in-person sessions. You will receive guidance on the format from the Community Organiser - Campaigns but will be the main person delivering such sessions on the ground.
3. Professional learning and development
- Taking a proactive approach to your learning and development towards becoming a confident and versatile Community Organiser and Campaigns specialist, you will have regular check-ins with your line manager (Community Organiser - Political Campaigns) and engage in an ongoing process of evaluation, thereby reflecting on the work you are carrying out to draw out learning and being willing to stretch yourself. THE ROLE

Covering the operational, strategic and delivery of work we are looking for a Project Development Co-ordinator to operate across the South-East, within Kent or with the ability to travel across Kent. Travel within and occasionally outside the regions will be a necessity.
This post provides an exciting and rewarding opportunity to supervise, deliver and lead on our stakeholder and community engagement across a region to support the delivery of NEA’s work programme. The role will help deliver projects that can change lives, particularly during the energy crisis. NEA’s project work aims to bring improvements to the health and wellbeing of low income and vulnerable householders, through one-to-one advice, group awareness sessions, upskilling and sharing of best practice.
Delivering on a range or projects, which demonstrate good practice in delivery of affordable warmth for low income and vulnerable householders, you will understand and drive the development of partnerships working with local authorities, housing providers, and various other partners.
You will oversee the delivery of project outputs and outcomes, delivering energy and fuel debt advice directly to householders and be responsible for the preparation of reports to funders including collation of evidence of outcomes achieved; maintaining relationships with a network of stakeholders across a region.
You will also work with the Project Development Manager to identify and develop new programmes of work, including preparation of funding applications, presentation of funding proposals to relevant funding bodies and to ensure effective liaison of NEA’s work programme with other activities within NEA.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED
You will have demonstrable experience of developing and/or managing projects in the fields of energy efficiency, community development and regeneration, housing, social policy or consumer issues.
It is important that you have an awareness of the environmental, social and economic problems of deprived areas and the roles of the public, private and voluntary sectors in tackling them.
You will need good organisational skills, as well as excellent written and communication skills, as you will maintain appropriate records and data, and produce regular written reports on project progress.
You will be an excellent communicator, with experience and understanding of how to effectively address the energy needs of low income, vulnerable or disadvantaged householders - with the desire to make a positive difference to people’s lives;
Knowledge of energy efficiency, particularly within the domestic sector and community buildings, is desirable.

Our Programme Delivery Team is an integral part of our for every parent strategy, we support our commissioned contracts, our branch Infant feeding support and our Infant Feeding line on free at point of access support across the UK.
We are seeking a capable Programmes Administrator to provide administrative support for our Project teams, NCT Baby Cafes, NCT Infant Feeding Line and our Peer Support Team. The post holder will work with the staff, practitioners and volunteer teams to ensure the smooth delivery of our projects within Programme Delivery.
About the Role
Working closely with the contracts manager, our projects teams, commissioned services manager and our infant feeding services manager, you will be responsible administration support across the Programme Delivery department:
· Supporting branches with delivering drop-ins and peer support training,
· Reviewing grant documentation
· Support branch funded services including generating contract documentation.
· Monitoring budget
· Generate contract assignments for NCT Practitioners delivering on branch contracts including management of NCT Practitioner holiday and sickness cover.
· Approving expense claims for practitioners and staff within our programmes.
· Support with administration of volunteer peer supporters and the central training of cohorts.
You must have good communication skills and be able to build relationships and create a rapport with a wide range of people easily and have a keen attention to detail.

This is an exciting opportunity to identify and deliver a plan in a place (e.g. Salford, an area in Manchester, Warrington or Wigan) to have a positive social, environmental and economic impact for the communities there.
