An exciting opportunity exists for a Co-Head of Employment Legal Advice Service to join the team. The postholder will focus on developing strategic relationships with trusted partners and stakeholders, including new and existing law firms who provide pro bono support. It will also oversee the effective and efficient delivery of Employment legal advice to working parents and carers. The role will be a job split, with an existing Co-Head and will be a part-time,  3 or 4 days week, permanent role with flexible working options available.

Who are we looking for?

Ideal candidates will be an employment lawyer (solicitor or barrister) with at least 5 years PQE in employment law gained with a reputable organisation. You will have expertise in and experience of providing autonomous advice on employment law and discrimination. You will be able to identify policy issues arising from advice work and have the ability to represent the organisation externally as subject matter expert. You will be able to identify own training and development needs and commitment to keeping up to date with all relevant changes in benefits and employment rights. Proven experience of establishing rapport, credibility and collaborative relationships with key customers, partners and stakeholders at the highest level both internally and externally is essential for the role. Support Workers will provide support to customers to help them develop the life skills they require to meet the assessed needs of the customers of the service. In some services, this will include providing physical, domestic, emotional and social care. They will work with customers to promote social inclusion and alongside other members of the team to promote independent living, encouraging customers to maximise their skills and choices. The shift pattern for this role will be on a rota basis. Some weekend work will be required.

What you'll do:

If a need arises, deliver all aspects of support to enable a customer to develop independent living skills as appropriate to the individual needs of the customer. In some services, this will include delivering personal and physical care as appropriate
Support customers to undertake all domestic tasks wherever possible, including practical assistance where they have not yet developed the skills, to ensure customers enjoy a high quality of accommodation
Participate in the support planning and risk management, as facilitated by the lead Support Worker
Carry out security duties to ensure the safety of the customers and premises
Monitor the CCTV throughout the shift
Enable customers to make full use of community facilities by providing support as directed
Carry out support duties to enable customers to integrate into the community including e.g. accompanying the customer to attend benefit agency appointments and meetings, go shopping, to enquire at colleges about possible courses, to visit various public amenities
Report any observations relating to customers welfare
Adhere to all the policies and procedures of Look Ahead Care, Support & Housing plus those specific to the project including any statutory requirements
Ensure Look Ahead Health and Safety policies and local protocols are adhered to at all times
Maintain records as required at the project under the direction of the Support Workers/ management
Participate in team meetings/reviews and the general development of the service

• Good communication skills and able to discuss financial matters with all team members

What you’ll be doing:

· Lead and line manage the accounts team

· Liaise closely with the CEO and Business Services & HR Manager to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the organisation

· Take responsibility for credit control and raising sales invoices to record grants or royalties or claim income from sources other than plain commercial training

· Manage the charity’s funds to maximise interest receivable within the terms of the investment policy

· Produce accurate monthly management accounts, cashflow forecasts and reports for trustees

· Prepare quarterly VAT returns and supporting non-business apportionment of calculations

· Prepare the annual PAYE Settlement Agreement submission and payment

· Review the monthly payroll

· Maintain and review finance software and systems in response to changing Trust requirements, identifying efficiencies or savings where possible

· Compile year-end adjustments, prepare a year end file for the auditors and produce the first draft of the Trust’s annual financial statement

· Work with Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser, helping with the preparation and review of the initial budgets required as the basis for applications for funding

· Assist managers with project budget costing, monitoring and review, grant claims and contracts for services

· Provide project budget and spend reports to project managers

· Prepare and file the Charity Commission Annual Return

· Keep LtL’s Charity Commission, Scottish Charity Regulator and Companies House records up to date and do the same for LtL’s dormant trading subsidiary.

· Contribute to the strategic development of the Trust

Purpose of the job

Key responsibilities

The jobholder will:

• Work with volunteer teams (sub committees) to create a calendar of events for children, young people and registered leaders for each session (academic year).

Location

Working pattern

This is a part-time role requiring an average of 18 hours per week.

Within that overall flexibility, the role will require some evening working (on average four to six times a month) for example to meet with key volunteers, or to facilitate training and events. Oak Foundation’s Housing and Homelessness Programme is a grant-making programme that supports organisations to end homelessness and create housing opportunities. The programme funds projects across the UK and US. In additional to national projects, it also funds within the geographic locations prioritised in its current strategy. These locations are London, Bristol, the West Midlands, Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland, New York, Boston, and Philadelphia. 

With an annual budget of over USD 30 million, the programme makes 37 new multi-year grants annually; in addition, the programme maintains strong connections with existing grantee partners, sharing learning and opportunities. The programme has three strategic priorities: renter rights, supply and access to genuinely affordable and decent homes, and reduction and prevention of homelessness. About the role
The Housing and Homelessness Programme is currently made up of a programme director, five programme officers, and one programme associate, all of whom are based in our London office. We are looking for a highly organised individual, with the ability to juggle a variety of tasks at the same time. They will be able to undertake research on housing and homelessness issues to inform our grant-making choices, conduct analyses of our existing portfolio, and oversee some of our monitoring and evaluation processes, while also providing administrative support to the programme director, such as organising meetings and maintaining our grant-making database.  They will need to be a self-starter with the confidence to work both independently and part of a team. The position also provides administrative support to the Oak London office and serves as back-up to the office manager.

Main responsibilities

•  Managing the grant-making project management system and monitoring the grant-making budget.
• Taking a substantial role in implementing our monitoring, learning, and evaluation strategy, overseeing the regular analysis of our grant-making portfolio, and reviewing outcomes/learning and regularly presenting these to the whole team.

Grandmentors

Grandmentors is a national volunteering programme where older volunteers (aged 50+) use their lifetime of skills and experience to support and mentor vulnerable young adults leaving the care system. These young adults often need a guiding hand and role model to support them to find work, continue their education or begin training – ultimately giving them the skills and self-belief to lead successful and independent lives.

Volunteers meet with a young adult regularly to boost their confidence and work towards goals, which are unique to each person.

Role Purpose

We are recruiting two part-time Project Coordinators to effectively deliver all aspects of our Grandmentors project in Wiltshire, ensuring it achieves its aims, objectives, outcomes, and targets. The postholders will work alongside teams within Wiltshire Council and with local volunteers to ensure that we improve the lives of care experienced young people (aged 16-25) through the unique power of inter-generational mentoring.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Effectively manage the service to ensure it meets agreed targets and millstones.
• Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and local authority staff.
• Ensure volunteers are recruited, appropriately trained, and supported in their role; this will involve processing volunteer expenses, DBS checks and maintaining databases.
• Ensure regular communication between project staff and volunteers is maintained and that regular supervision for volunteers is provided.
• Work with your line manager to ensure project expenditure is in line with the budget.
• Maintain accurate records on all aspects of the project and submit data onto a secure system.
• Manage and maintain effective monitoring and evaluation records to capture impact and outcomes and ensure contractual compliance.

• To implement and maintain appropriate risk assessment management processes.
• Prepare impact and progress reports for both internal and external purposes.
• Develop relevant information to promote and raise the profile of Volunteering Matters locally.
• Promote and adhere to Volunteering Matters Equality and Diversity Policy and all other Volunteering Matters policies which relate to the work of Grandmentors.
• Contribute to joint working and teamwork across Volunteering Matters and your regional team.

Experience/Skills and Attributes:

Essential

• Experience working with or supporting young adults with the ability to motivate, enthuse and develop positive attitudes.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with a range of stakeholders (including volunteers, local authority staff and funders).
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a demanding and developing workload.
• Resilient, flexible with ability to work on own initiative as well as collaborating with others.
• A good, practical knowledge of safeguarding and risk assessments.
• Evidence of good administrative and IT skills.
• Understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities, data protection and confidentiality.

Desirable

• Knowledge/experience of the care system.
• Experience supporting/managing volunteers.

Qualifications

Relevant experience and values alignment is more important for this role than specific qualifications.

This role requires an enhanced DBS check which will be undertaken with the successful candidate before starting.

Location

The role requires someone based within Wiltshire. With a flexible working policy, the postholder can be based from home or within Wiltshire Council offices. The postholder will need internet access to enable remote working. I.T. equipment and infrastructure will be supplied.
