We have an opportunity available in the team at MASH for an Outreach Worker specifically focused on supporting women who live in Salford. This role is part time at 21 hours per week and will include one night-time outreach shift per week on the MASH van.

We believe in choice and empowerment, focusing on the material impact and reality of women’s lives, and how we can work with women to create the change that works for them. We hold a strong belief in women’s assets, talents, skills and abilities. Through our services we partner with women as they access and navigate services to aid recovery and realise their goals.

MASH is the only organisation in Greater Manchester which exists specifically to support women who sex work. Through our range of services we build trusted relationships with women to keep them safer, healthier and more equipped to take control of their lives.

To work with other members of the MASH team to achieve the following outcomes:

• To improve women’s health

• Women who sex work are heard, understood and experience less stigma
• Other agencies and policymakers understand the needs of women who sex work and are more effective at supporting them

Using a gender and trauma-informed approach, the Salford Outreach Worker will support women sex working on the street and in saunas in Salford. They will deliver outreach one night per week to reach Salford residents street sex working. They will also undertake regular outreach sessions to indoor sex work premises during the day. They will develop professional networks in Salford to share intelligence, cascade information about the support MASH can offer and provide joint support to women.

Box Tree Farm is a mental health Crisis House service, supporting individuals experiencing a mental health crisis within a recovery based model.  The service is a 24hr support service, operating 7 days per week 365 days per year.  Due to this our hours of work are scheduled and agreed via a rota system, agreed in advance with our teams.  We have been operating in the area for a number of years and offer a staffed service to support those aged 18 and upwards.

We know that recovery can look and feel very different to each and every one of us. On 1st June 2024, Richmond Fellowship, part of Recovery Focus, a national group of charities highly experienced in providing specialist support services to individuals and families living with the effects of mental ill health, drug and alcohol use, gambling and domestic violence merged with Humankind to form a single organisation that provides the joined-up mental health, housing and drug and alcohol support we’ve all known has been needed for decades. The Hepatitis C Trust has developed projects nationally whereby peers use their lived experience of injecting drug use and hepatitis C, to provide education and training to service users and staff in drug and alcohol, hostel and homeless services, increasing hepatitis C awareness, access to testing and referral to treatment, for people living with hepatitis C.

We provide free advice and assistance, up to and including Tribunal level, on all Department for Work & Pensions (DWP) benefits, Tax Credits, and some local authority benefits.

Welfare Benefits Advisor will

• Provide high quality Welfare Benefits advice and casework and, as appropriate, representation at the 1st Tier Tribunals for disabled individuals of the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham.
• Write Mandatory Reconsideration requests and in a limited number of cases, write appeal submissions.
• Undertake direct welfare advice and casework.
• Maintain appropriate records of work undertaken using an appropriate electronic Welfare Benefits Recording and Information System via AoD’s Charity Log, and through the use of Excel
• Gather information to monitor and evaluate the service.
• Assist with funding applications / tender bids by providing basic factual information to Fund Raising Manager/CEO/Managers to enable them to apply for funding and also enable them to write funding/tender applications.
• Contribute to Welfare Benefits related publicity material, social media, reports for the Board of Trustees and other stakeholders and other documents as required.
• This post requires travel to different locations, e.g. for home visits.

You will cover West Essex (Harlow, Epping & Uttlesford), playing a pivotal role in supporting unpaid family carers who look after someone due to their age, disability, long-term physical or mental health condition or an addiction. Job description 

The purpose of this role is to provide essential, tailored casework support for residents living in Ella’s’ safe house accommodation. The main responsibilities of this role are:

● Provide one-to-one support for safe house residents This includes ensuring that survivors understand their rights and that these are met, coaching survivors to identify and work towards their personal goals, supporting survivors to access appropriate services/treatment providers and ultimately be supported into independence.
● Manage social work students, placements and interns.

Key tasks
Casework provision
● Provide high quality casework support to residents (housing, financial, legal, mental health, and physical wellbeing support)
● Support survivor empowerment to speak out and self-advocate
● Carry out regular risk assessment with survivors and respond to any safeguarding concerns as per Ella’s’ safeguarding procedures
● Provide day-to-day support and build trusting relationships with the service users
● Be sensitive to the rapidly changing emotional and physical needs of the service users and respond accordingly

● Provide regular supervision to students and interns Safeguarding, and health and safety
● Work in collaboration with the Safehousee and Facilities Manager
● Ensure all major incidents, accidents, safeguarding concerns or potential hazards are managed, reported and recorded according to Ella’s’ policies and procedures
● Participate in the identification and assessment of risks and implement agreed working procedures to minimise their impact; writing risk assessments as required
● Promote awareness of health and safety amongst service users, including those who use emergency/on call systems, fire prevention and control systems as necessary
● Ensure the location confidentiality of Ella’s’ premises to protect survivors and safeguard staff and volunteers
● Participate in any relevant Safeguarding training and keep up to date with any changes to Ella’s’ safeguarding policies and procedures

Accommodation and risk management
● Run regular house meetings and house outings for residents
● Support residents with housing benefit and service charges
● Manage all paperwork in the premises, processing any personal data in accordance with Ella’s’ Data Protection Policy and procedures
● Handle emergency situations calmly and professionally
● Ensure all safety and security procedures are followed to keep self and others safe
● Maintain a safe and secure working environment
● Ensure the location confidentiality of Ella’s’ premises to protect survivors and safeguard staff and volunteers

Other/general duties
● Develop strategic partnerships with local agencies working within the Violence Against Women and Girls sector and other local organisations or businesses that could enrich the work of Ella’s
● Take part in the out of hours on-call service
● Attend any training required for the role, keeping up to date with any developments and changes within the sector
● Represent the work at Ella’s with integrity at all times
● Adhere to all of Ella's policies and procedures at all times

The Student Advisor is a key role within the UWLSU’s Advice and Wellbeing team. The Student Advisor will deliver case-based advice and advocacy interventions to hundreds of students each year to an excellent standard. The post holder will work to ensure that our students are supported through academic regulatory processes such as mitigating circumstances, academic appeals, complaints and disciplinary processes at UWL. They will provide independent, non-judgmental and accessible advice to students that will empower them to make informed choices about their case. The commission will run from June 2024 for three years. As part of this, an additional service will be set up within the NHYC Youth Justice team specifically to deliver on the Alliance contract. This will include a team of Housing Caseworkers who will carry out assessments and advocacy work with young people under 25 who are fleeing violence and exploitation, in order to move them on successfully into both emergency and long-term housing options. You should be passionate about working with this client group, able to manage a fast-moving caseload, and committed to working collaboratively with a team across multiple services.

The AFRUCA Child Protection Family Support Service sits within AFRUCA as one of our most impactful programmes targeting families from a range of ethnic backgrounds across England and Wales. The service works closely with local authorities children’s services in cases involving families on child protection plans or in court proceedings. We provide direct one to one training and support for parents to aid their ability to provide appropriate parenting and ensure a safer, happier home environment for their children.

The AFRUCA Child Protection Service currently has a team of five qualified social workers and supports over 50 families each year. We also provide a therapeutic service where children are being reunified with their parents. We are establishing a child protection legal drop in service for families in contact with children’s services and an advocacy service for parents in the child protection system.

Most of our families are referred by local authorities children’s services as a result of cultural and religious practices which are deemed harmful to children’s well-being. We offer qualified social workers who do not wish to work in the statutory sector with an alternative approach to practising social work where empathy, kindness and support is key to our work with families. Our ultimate aim is a reduction of children in Black and Ethnic communities going into or remaining in foster care. We offer a non oppressive and non judgemental service that helps to promote the well-being of children in safe families.

We are looking to attract a qualified social worker who supports our ethos and is willing to contribute to our work with families to protect more children in our communities.

The role is open to applicants based on London Hackney or Manchester. The role will include office and remote working as well as allocated work for home arrangements.

West London Crisis Recovery House is a Registered Care Home, working to a recovery model, in partnership with West London NHS Trust. The services are staffed 24/7 and offer support to our residents aged 18 and upwards.

The Crisis Recovery House is committed to working within a Trauma Informed Framework which encompasses staff training and support, the support delivered to those using the services as well as our policies and procedures.

Working in a crisis service will provide you with an opportunity to work alongside clinical teams in assessing the suitability of referrals to the service as well as working closely with the Crisis Team who visit the service daily, in delivering care to the people using the service.

Candidates with an understanding of mental health issues and/or lived experience would be welcomed. Most important is your caring and compassionate nature and empathy and enthusiasm for helping others. Whatever your background, you’ll need to be happy to work both independently and within a team and willing to be part of a weekly rota system. Two years’ experience is required, however full training is also provided, including the Care Certificate which is a nationally recognised qualification.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management 

1. Support a portfolio of community organisations to develop pathways for long-term security and community-led neighbourhood transformation.

2. Assist partners in identifying and unlocking assets, land, and buildings for long-term stewardship that deliver community, cultural, and economic output.

3. Co-design projects and interventions to activate spaces and sites, collaborating with partners aligned in racial and land justice.

4. Develop and maintain project delivery frameworks and timelines using project management tools to ensure clear accountability and communication.

5. Create key resources and information for the organisation, including strategy documents, project pitches, presentations, and case studies.

6. Procure and commission services as required to deliver on our stewardship workstream, building a network of infrastructure professionals.

Policy and Advocacy

1. Work with cross-sector partners to inform and strengthen policies (e.g., planning policies, community right to bid/buy) to improve outcomes for marginalised communities and their ecosystems.

2. Engage with the Greater London Authority, Local Authorities, funders, community organisations, and research bodies to advance policy objectives.

3. Develop assets to support local knowledge exchanges on policies such as the Localism Act, Community Asset Transfers, and Community Land Trusts.

Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships

1. Coordinate campaigns, communications, community events, and stakeholder engagements to strengthen networks and wider impact.

2. Design and facilitate workshops, sessions, and events for stakeholders across sectors, 

3. Maintain and nurture key partnerships and relationships, keeping the team updated on relevant events and developments.

4. Attend and participate in relevant in-person and virtual meetings and sessions to support the team and represent Stour Trust.

Qualifications and Skills

We recognise that skills and experiences can be picked up in a number of ways outside of the traditional roots of education and employment.  We are interested in your story and passion within this area, including what you have achieved so far. 

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant (e.g., Urban Planning, Community Development, Public Policy, Community Organising, or related discipline) or;

• Experience in community development, project management, community organising, or related field

• Interest in community land trusts, commons, affordable housing & community spaces

• Strong understanding of community led neighbourhood transformation, land justice, and urban development policies

• Excellent project management skills with proficiency in project management tools

• Demonstrated commitment to racial and economic justice

• Experience in facilitating workshops and community events

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and data analysis tools

• Experience using Canva or similar design tools for creating visually appealing content

• Knowledge of the London area and its communities is a plus
