We are looking for a dedicated Advocacy Campaigns Manager to join our Advocacy team within Action Against Hunger UK's Operations department. This is a great time to join our team as we broaden the reach of our public advocacy campaigns to a wider audience. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead on developing and delivering our advocacy campaigns strategy, and also supporting with policy and parliamentary work. Our advocacy and campaigns focus on tackling the key drivers of hunger – conflict, climate change, poverty and inequality – and promoting improved response.
On the campaigns front, this role means spending around three days on designing and delivering creative and engaging online campaign actions, in collaboration with skilled colleagues across teams, organizing campaign events and building the engagement of chef and food industry supporters in our advocacy. This also requires having a good understanding of the political landscape and opportunities and distilling policy asks into engaging public campaign messaging.
You will also get to spend around two days per week supporting with policy work, such as drafting position papers or letters and working closely with our Head of Advocacy and Parliamentary Relations Manager on MP engagement. Sussex Emmaus is a charity dedicated to supporting individuals who have experienced social exclusion or homelessness. We are now recruiting for a Warehouse Co-ordinator to ensure the efficient running of the warehouse (Undercroft). You will be joining a friendly and enthusiastic team who are passionate about what they do.
The Coordinator ensures the warehouse is organised and is following applicable laws and regulations. This includes working with Companions and volunteers, overseeing receiving, sorting and pricing of donations, always maximising income. Duties & responsibilities
People
- To work alongside and train Companions to increase their skill base and confidence
- To organise the deployment of tasks to individuals and team members
- To train, supervise, motivate, and inspire volunteers and companions.
- To help devise and deliver induction on standards of work to new team members so that retail activities are delivered to the agreed brand, including customer service, merchandising, pricing, stock control, and culture
- To ensure that all activities under supervision are engaging, enabling, empowering and holding to account the team members
Warehouse Operation
- To ensure effective and efficient day-to-day operations by maximising quality donations and minimising waste
- To ensure day-to-day smooth and productive processes are being implemented to excellent standards for quality, culture, and legislative compliance
- To be proactive in the generation of donated stock, managing stock collection efficiently and effectively to the agreed standards and timescales under Emmaus guidelines
- To ensure premises, Health & Safety, security, and maintenance checks and actions are complete within the identified time, and to identify new checks or actions to schedule as to comply with Health and Safety requirements
- To ensure that cover for the safe operation of the Undercroft is always sufficient
- To cover van driving shifts as needed.
Stock Management
- To work closely with all Retail Managers to ensure each retail enterprise is receiving adequate stock to generate their required weekly sales targets
- To be responsible for ensuring that only sellable donations and those that conform to all relevant UK government and trading standards legislation are accepted for resale in the shop
- To disseminate any changes from Trading Standards as and when to relevant parties to ensure compliance
- To ensure all donated items are sorted and priced and merchandised to receive the optimum for the charity and the correct procedures are applied throughout the sorting process to allow for coding and pricing to be applied to items
Safety, Health, and Environment
- To oversee all Health & Safety requirements within the warehouse, taking corrective action as and when required, and informing/liaising with managers and team as necessary
- To assist in compiling risk assessments with team members
- Ensure safe working systems are adhered to in conjunction with the Emmaus policies and procedures, and are compliant with all relevant legal requirements
- To ensure that Health & Safety is adhered to in terms of equipment use and that manual handling guidelines are followed
- Ensure work areas follow correct processing procedures, ensuring that the work area is always kept clean and tidy
- Assist in delivering Health & Safety training to new Companions and volunteers
- Recycling/Re-use and Waste Management
- To recommend creative ways to upcycle, reuse and repurpose stock to maximise profit and reduce wastage

The Role

Additional Information
We ask all members of Age UK's Partnerships and Philanthropy department to work from our London office at least once a week to enable collaboration, skills development and team dynamics (currently Thursdays).
From time to time, we may also require the successful candidate to come into our London office for face-to-face meetings with funders and colleagues at other times in the week: as per the terms of our hybrid contracts we aim to give seven days' notice when this happens.
This role will on occasions require travel outside of London and working outside of normal office hours e.g. for funder events and cultivation.

You will be in Fundraising and Communications Team and your line manager will be our Communications and Community Fundraising Manager.

- The location: Kingsley Hall, Old Market - there is also flexibility and support to manage working from home. We currently meet as a team 2 days a week at Kingsley Hall.

About the Role
- The Connection Community is a place where people can gain respite from street homelessness, engage in group and coproduction activities, develop social inclusion and reduce isolation and have their needs met by a committed and dedicated multi-disciplinary team.

- You will support the team to identify, engage and provide harm minimisation to our clients whilst promoting a sense of belonging, and working with clients to support them on their journey towards a place to call home.
- Together we are piloting a new approach to working with people experiencing homelessness in Westminster facing multiple exclusion. We are creating a psychologically-informed environment, adopting a trauma-informed model with direct support from a team of specialist NHS psychologists.
- You will have experience in delivering a psychologically, gender and culturally informed service to people who are experiencing street homelessness. You will be both strength-based and solution-focused, developing and enhancing the service with a commitment to embedding coproduction.

Are you looking to apply your administrative skills in a role that truly makes a difference? We have an exciting opportunity for an Employee Access Assistant and Driver based near Stevenage.
In this role, you’ll support a visually impaired Guide Dogs Employee and Guide Dog owner, helping them perform their duties effectively through a mix of remote and in-person support. In-person support will be required once or twice a week locally in Stevenage involving tasks such as providing sighted guidance to navigate unfamiliar environments, helping with access to systems on a laptop, or describing the layout of rooms at events.
Your Microsoft Office expertise will be put to great use as you assist with a variety of administrative tasks, including document formatting, PowerPoint presentations, and note-taking. Your eye for detail will ensure that all documents are clear, accessible, and well-organised.
You’ll also help with travel arrangements as and when required, including collecting the employee from home and going to train station or providing a lift from their home to various Guide Dogs sites. A full, clean driving license and access to a vehicle are essential. You’ll provide sighted guidance, ensuring the employee can navigate unfamiliar environments with confidence. As the employee is a Guide Dog owner, being comfortable with dogs and helping with their care, such as exercise, will be part of the role as well.
Your excellent communication skills and person-centred approach will be key in building a close, trusting relationship with the employee. Flexibility will also be crucial, as you’ll need to adapt to changing tasks and demands.
This role requires the ability to work under pressure and take initiative, managing your workload efficiently. Whether assisting with travel, preparing documents, or providing sighted guidance, your proactive attitude and organisational skills will be key to your success.
You will be fully trained in tasks such as sighted guiding and how to work confidently around a Guide Dog, ensuring that you feel supported and equipped, even if you haven’t had experience in this space before. We are committed to making sure you feel comfortable and encouraged in this unique role.
The role is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Occasional flexibility will be required to work outside of core hours, including weekends and overnight stays.
