We are recruiting for an enthusiastic, motivated and committed Deputy Manager, with experience of working with adults with a learning disability/autism and complex needs to join Outward.
This is an exciting opportunity to utilise your skills to support the Team manager in coaching and mentoring the staff team, and also embedding high standards in the running of the service. The successful candidate will be working alongside frontline staff to support the skills building needed to increase the independence of people with autism and/or learning disabilities and behaviours of concern. Outward’s autism and PBS specialist services have a strong reputation across London, where we support people to live full and active lives, with support designed around the person’s personal ambitions and choices. PBS training will be provided to develop the successful candidate into a PBS coach, and you will be working closely with our Positive Behaviour Lead to create a culture that promotes Positive Behaviour and Active Support values and practice. The role involves teaching people new skills and ways of communicating which reduces behaviours of concern.

- You will support the team to develop support plans and risk assessments that reflect people’s needs, preferences and aspirations; creating a culture where plans are actively implemented and reviewed so that people are supported in the way that they want.
About You
- Experience of managing a service for people with a learning disability/autism and complex needs including behaviours of concern is essential. (E)
- A qualification in Positive Behaviour Support Coaching (BILD accredited), or a willingness to gain the qualifications within the first 3 months of employment is essential. (E)
- You will be an excellent communicator liaising effectively with key stakeholders including the multi-disciplinary and health professionals, family carers and people we support. (E)
- You will have experience of staff management and the ability to lead, motivate and develop a large team, ensuring staff are appropriately trained. You will be visible in the service and strive to model best practice and inspire support workers. (E)
- You will be able to think creatively and be adaptable in approaches, with experience of implementing emergency management guidance to support staff. (D)
- Experience of carrying out needs assessments and creating support and risk management plans for people with behaviours of concern. And be committed to include the person, and their circle of support at all times. (E)

Prostate Cancer Research exists to honour the men and families who have been through things no family should have to go through, and to work for a future where no one needs to fear a prostate cancer diagnosis.
We are always working to provide resources to help, support and empower patients. Giving them the information they need to make better choices about their treatment, while working to identify and target specific unmet needs in the prostate cancer ecosystem, such as racial inequality and bone metastasis.
Our dedicated staff team is the key to our success, expanding the amount of research that we fund five times over in four years. PCR has been shortlisted for an Impact Prize and won the Change Project of the year award in 2023.
It’s been a successful couple of years for PCR’s Events & Community team with good results across the portfolio, raising over £1.4m (against a target of £800k) in 2023-24. Now’s an exciting time as we’ve recently expanded the team, whilst refreshing our structure and roles to make priorities clear and ensure the whole team can do their best work – contributing to PCR’s lifesaving mission, developing in their careers and enjoying their jobs within our ambitious and supportive team.
We are now recruiting for a new Events & Community Executive to join the frontline of our fundraising stewardship, so strong relationship-building skills and a love of creating great supporter experiences are essential. A big part of this role is project managing PCR’s fundraising activities, including virtual and third-party challenges. This requires a proactive approach, an eagerness to learn and a readiness to get stuck in with a positive attitude, as well as some experience of leading a project yourself in the past. You will work closely with the Virtual & Challenge Events Manager, existing Events & Community Officer/ Executives, and the whole team – sharing best practice, learnings and supporting each other to reach and exceed our shared goals.
This role will focus on virtual & challenge events activities but will get exposure to the full range of our events & community fundraising portfolio for your development and interest – and you will receive the training and support needed to succeed!
Key Responsibilities
Event management and delivery

Lead the delivery of the fundraising activities you are working on, keeping an eye on objectives, budgets and the bigger picture to ensure that opportunities to improve and maximise fundraising are seized.

Create and follow action plans for your projects, taking responsibility for processes and delivery of tasks on time.

Maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and third-party organisations.

Ensure all fundraising activities promote PCR’s brand and have a strong connection to people with prostate cancer.

With the support of the team, analyse results based on KPIs & feedback, and proactively suggest changes & improvements.
Stewardship
-
Lead on delivering PCR’s supporter journeys for your projects, providing a high level of stewardship with an understanding of the connection between engagement and the income & awareness raised for PCR.

Lead on relationship management as required for the fundraising activities you are working on.

Carry out regular stewardship tasks including content delivery, the management of stewardship tools (e.g. Mailchimp, GivePanel & Kudosity) and responding to supporter queries via all channels. Plenty of training on tools will be provided!

Collaborate with the team on the upkeep of supporter journeys, using feedback & data to spot opportunities for constant improvement of fundraisers’ experience with PCR and motivating them to raise more and remain loyal supporters.
Marketing and Recruitment

Work with the Events team managers and external marketing consultants to create effective marketing plans and lead on their implementation, making best efforts to hit acquisition targets for the fundraising activities you are working on.

Create & deliver marketing plans and assets which are tailored by a good understanding of our existing & target audiences.

With the support of team managers, track and analyse marketing performance to proactively suggest improvements.
Administration and Database
-
Manage stock fulfilment, sending merchandise to supporters and replenishing materials as required, ensuring high quality, good value and an appropriate & creative application of PCR’s brand.

Carry out participant data processing, income processing and budget management tasks as required, including coding, database administration, paying invoices and tracking income & expenditure in logs.

Ensure your fundraising activities are delivered in line with fundraising law & regulations and PCR’s policies.

Take an active role in training & webinars to improve your knowledge of the database and compliance requirements.
Strategy and Development

Always have an eye on new opportunities and ideas to inject into your projects, taking a test & learn approach.

Contribute to team strategy and budgeting work, working with Events team managers to create exciting plans.

Lead on relevant projects to improve the Events team’s infrastructure, stewardship, content, processes & compliance.

About this vital role
Our successful candidate’s focus will be to provide operational management support across one or more contracts awarded by the HMPPS to deliver Finance, Benefit and Debt (FBD) services in Wales. This will see you provide leadership and operational management support in debt and welfare benefits to a team of Financial Wellbeing Coaches (FWCs), Team Leaders and Administration team employed in the delivery of the contracts, and to plan and support the day-to-day workload for the team and setting performance objectives with the team and monitor progress.
You will also be expected to monitor and manage all aspects of delivery and performance to ensure compliance with policy and procedures and to manage partnerships including local and national delivery partners and any agencies with whom we are developing referral arrangements. Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with local Wales Probation managers and staff and other external stakeholders is an essential part of this role, as is providing regular reports in a range of formats to the Service Manager and monitoring use of the Customer Approved Database including regular reports on usage to ensure accuracy and timeliness of inputting by teams.
What we are looking for
- Experience of working in or managing services supporting challenging people
- Experience in working in or managing multi-agency partnerships working towards common objectives and outcomes
- Evidence of training at specialist level in money and/or welfare benefits advice from an accredited training provider
- Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of managing a caseload
- Wide range of money advice knowledge, budgeting, dealing with priority and non-priority debts, County Court/High Court options, insolvency options and welfare benefits
- Ability to coach and mentor staff to motivate and facilitate optimum performance in a team
- Strong IT, interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Join Operation Smile UK as our Senior Acquisition Manager and make a difference in the lives of children. We're searching for a fundraising professional with experience in acquiring new donors through a variety of fundraising channels including Door to Door (F2F), digital fundraising, DRTV, cold mailing and door drops. You'll be responsible for managing a £2.4 million budget and developing innovative strategies to increase individual cash and regular giving support. Operation Smile is a global nonprofit specialising in cleft surgery and care. We provide medical training, education and mentorship to surgical teams around the world, along with expertise, research and care through our staff and volunteers, working alongside local governments, nonprofits and health systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and drive recruitment of regular givers and cash givers to grow income and supporter volumes, in a multi-channel programme including Door to Door (F2F), digital fundraising channels, DRTV, cold mailing and door drops.
- Manage relationships with agency partners executing acquisition campaigns on behalf of Operation Smile UK for the betterment of the acquisition programme.

- Monitor and report on budgets and assist in building future expenditure and income targets. Work as part of the Individual Giving team to reach strategic targets.
- Work closely with the Communications & Digital team, and Individual Giving team to ensure campaigns are in line with brand standards and integrated seamlessly with supporter retention.
- Work closely with the Individual Giving team to constantly refine the newly introduced ‘welcome programme’ aimed at transitioning new donors to retained donors and improving retention rate.
- To work closely with the Senior Database Manager and agency partners to review direct marketing acquisition campaigns and ensure that information is used to maximise income for future campaigns.
- Collaborate with the Senior Database Manager to develop and implement essential Power BI dashboards. Proactively request ad-hoc data analysis to track key acquisition metrics and inform strategic decision-making.
- Introduce new acquisition channels and develop existing ones within KPIs to manage risk and keep fundraising up-to-date within evolving channels.
- To ensure that campaigns are where possible integrated or co-ordinated thematically, creatively and/or by target audience to maximise impact.

Our services include short overnight stays and community breaks at home or in the hospice. About James’ Place
James’ Place Charity was set up by Clare Milford Haven and Nick Wentworth-Stanley in 2008 after their twenty-one-year-old son, James, died by suicide ten days after a minor operation. James had no history of mental illness or depression and had sought urgent help for anxiety and suicidal thoughts, but didn’t find it.
James' Place was set up to make the experience of finding help as easy as possible. James’ Place offers men who are experiencing a suicidal crisis a brief, intensive, therapeutic intervention in a safe environment. Men who walk through the door at James’ Place will be in a space where they feel valued and respected.
The first James’ Place opened in June 2018 in Liverpool, the first of its kind in the UK, and has to date supported more than 2,300 men experiencing suicidal crisis through our innovative and safe therapeutic intervention. We provide a calm and peaceful environment both inside the centre and in our landscaped garden, accessible to men who visit us as well as their friends and families.
In 2022 we opened a new centre in London and in early in 2023 we launched an appeal to raise over £10m to fund three more centres across the country. Our third centre opened in Newcastle at the beginning of 2024, and we are currently raising funds to open a James’ Place in Brimingham.
The Fundraising and Communications team
We are a small team with big ambitions. The team comprises a Head of Fundraising and Communications, two Fundraising Managers, a Senior Communications Manager and a Senior Outreach Officer. We are recruiting two roles to the team: a Fundraising Executive and a Fundraising and Communications Assistant.
Fundraising Executive
We are looking to recruit a Fundraising Executive to support our fundraising and communications activities and be part of our small and dedicated team. This role is a new post in the team, so it is a great time to join the charity as we invest in our fundraising and communications team to maximise our income and realise our ambitions.
About You
Having previously worked in the charity sector, you will be passionate about our cause and committed to supporting us in raising the money required to meet our ambitions.
With an eye for detail, strong analytical and organisational skills, you will be able to undertake research on prospective corporate, major, trust and public donors and produce high quality written reports to support funding bids.
Using your ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively, you will support fundraisers by providing them with timely and accurate information and manage a portfolio of smaller trusts and foundations, which will also include stewardship.

Fundraising and Communications Assistant
In this varied and interesting role, you will:
· Manage the receipt, recording and acknowledgement of donations received by the London centre and national fundraising activities, working with other centre staff on the development of administration procedures.
· Ensure the CRM database is kept up to date and support the fundraising team to produce high quality reports.
· Support the Events Manger in the delivery of fundraising and engagement events across the organisation.
· Support the Fundraising Managers in arranging meetings and visits with donors and prospective donors.
· Use digital media strategy tools to generate relevant and varied digital content across chosen channels.
· Create regular communications, reports and updates for fundraisers to tailor for their individual donors.
About you:
You will be a self-starter with a desire to make an impact and a connection to James’ Place, you will bring your passion, previous administrative experience and a proactive approach, to enable our fundraising team to be as efficient as possible. Using your knowledge and understanding of a range of social media platforms and your keen interest in learning about new digital innovations, you will support us in creating digital content across our chosen channels. You will work with our CRM software, Salesforce, to ensure our records are up to date, accurate and provide useful reports.
