About the role 

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team in London, in a key role supporting our Chief Executive and wider executive team.

The Executive Team Assistant will provide confidential EA support to the Chief Executive along with providing organisational support to the wider Executive Team, enabling them to operate as efficiently and effectively as possible. Through effective communication and organisation of queries, inbox and diary management, meeting and event coordination along with support on project administration, the post holder will support the CEO and wider Directorate while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.

About you 

The successful candidate will need previous experience of supporting Executive teams with the ability to deliver complex tasks and lead in finding ways to support the leadership team to work more effectively. Experience in designing documentation (e.g. project summary reports, presentations and minutes) for projects or change initiatives is essential.

You will enjoy juggling priorities and forward planning to ensure projects and meetings run efficiently. You will be comfortable with autonomy whilst also able to build effective relationships and understand different stakeholder needs. This will be a busy role supporting a wide range of projects and change initiatives and therefore the ability to visualise what success looks like and map a route towards it will be vital for the role.

ABOUT US

We’re a small, creative and fast-growing charity that was established from inside The Economist in 2012. We support children, aged 10 to 16, from under-served backgrounds to develop essential skills for the modern world. We do this by enabling them to join inspiring discussions about the news, which teach them to think critically, communicate effectively and understand global issues. 

Our activities

Our programme, Topical Talk, brings about these discussions in four ways:

• We create world-class teaching resources for classroom discussions about global news stories
• We run Topical Talk Festival: the only news festival for young people. Children from countries all over the world join discussions with each other and global experts; and they work towards publishing their opinions in written, audio and film format for the chance to win awards 
• We offer Topical Talk Prizes: collections of resources for a series in-depth discussions about a big global issue or theme, following which students submit their work for the chance to win prizes
• We train and support teachers to bring high-quality news discussions into their classrooms; including through intensive, in-person community partnerships in the UK, US and Nigeria

Our impact

Children who take part in Topical Talk can make seven times more progress compared to their peers in creativity, problem-solving, open-minded listening and confident speaking. These skills are linked with better outcomes at school, in employment and as citizens. Our programme has received international recognition, including by HundrED as one of the top 100 educational initiatives of 2020 and 2021, and as first-prize winner of the UNESCO Global Media and Information Literacy Awards 2022.

Our ambitions

We are at an exciting point in our trajectory. We have demonstrated huge growth potential, going from a small UK pilot in 2013 to working with thousands of teachers globally today, including on-the-ground work in the UK and US. There is still an enormous unmet need, so we have bold plans to reach one million children in 2026, with 100,000 engaging on a weekly basis. 

THE ROLE 

We’re looking for a qualified teacher or ex-teacher who is excited to play a hands-on role in our team, training and building relationships with Topical Talk teachers in the UK and internationally.

You’ll be responsible, alongside our Teacher Engagement and Development Lead, for supporting teachers to get the most from Topical Talk programmes. You’ll do this by building strong relationships with a range of individual teachers, school groups (for example multi-academy trusts) and organisations. You'll be confident communicating with and motivating teachers, and delivering inspiring teacher training in a range of settings in the UK and internationally. You’ll also work directly with 10- to 16-year-old students on a regular basis, to model lessons to teachers, deliver workshops and facilitate online discussions. 

From time to time you will work with our content team to give input into the creation of interactive lessons on news topics. You’ll share ideas for class activities or topics, join idea-generation and feedback sessions, and occasionally draft lessons yourself.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Design and deliver teacher training and support to maximise impact of Topical Talk (40%)

• Work with the Teacher Engagement and Development Lead to design and deliver online and in-person teacher training that supports and inspires teachers to run Topical Talk lessons regularly
• Visit schools to observe, and occasionally teach, Topical Talk lessons
• Collect data, such as case studies and progress reports, to help evaluate the impact of Topical Talk 
• Test and evaluate different approaches to teacher support in order to continually improve how we work with teachers

Engage students with Topical Talk lessons (30%)

• Deliver inspiring workshops and lessons about the news to young people aged 10 to 16 globally
• Co-plan and present Live Lessons to a global audience
• Facilitate online discussions between young people during Topical Talk Festivals 
• Collaborate with the content team to share ideas, give feedback and occasionally draft lessons about the news

Build and nurture effective relationships with teachers, school groups and organisations (30%) 

• Build strong relationships with teachers, administrators, local education authorities, school districts or multi-academy trusts, to make Topical Talk a long-term success in the schools 
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of Topical Talk in depth in these schools or communities, using evidence to recommend programme-wide changes
• Work with the Head of Marketing and Teacher Engagement Development Lead to recruit schools to participate in Topical Talk Festival, liaising with teachers and persistently following up as needed
• Support teachers to get ready to participate in the Topical Talk Festival, including briefing them, guiding them through the sign-up process and answering their questions / troubleshooting

This role will involve international travel so a valid passport is required. It also involves working with young people, so you will need to have an enhanced DBS check (which The Foundation will organise).

Financial Education Delivery Coordinator

The Financial Education team is at the forefront of Financial Education in the UK. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced and innovative education professional to make a significant contribution to the future wellbeing of our children and communities.

What the role looks like

The Financial Education Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting and onboarding schools to embed our free financial education resources into primary school classrooms. You will have an excellent understanding of the challenges and pressures that exist within a primary school environment. You will be able to generate enthusiasm for financial education, as well as develop strong relationships with schools and other project collaborators. You will achieve this by proactively researching, networking, and making connections with schools in London and the Southeast region. You will speak to stakeholders, including teachers and school leadership, to promote our programme. Once they have registered, you will then train the teachers and school staff on how to incorporate our resources flexibly into their classrooms. The Financial Education Delivery Coordinator will need to work flexibly with each school to best meet their needs, according to our policies and guidelines. Reporting the progress of the various programmes is a key part of the role and the ability to collate data, identify risks, and meet deadlines is crucial.

As a part of the broader Programmes and Innovation department, this role is a creative opportunity to develop new ideas and ways of delivering financial literacy to primary schools. We’re seeking a Volunteering and Participation Coordinator to join our fantastic Volunteering and Participation team!

As our organisation grows we want to ensure we are consistently providing a great experience for volunteers and lived experience participants, right through from recruitment and onboarding, to providing support and enabling them to be ambassadors for the charity once they move on.

We have brought the areas of volunteering and participation of people with lived experience in our work, together in this role and team. We see these areas as having some points of distinctions, and also that many of the approaches and policies underpinning them are the same. We want to prioritise the same enabling and impactful approach, which values diversity, in both. 

PCUK has made a commitment to diversifying and building the participation of people with lived experience across all levels of our work. We are looking for an experienced young people's practitioner. You will be confident in your work with young people and join our dynamic, ambitious team.

CHHAT provides a programme of targeted support services to identified, young people/young carers. The CHHAT practitioner will provide support to, and improve the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of young carers and their family network. You will address a number of target areas for children/young people who are caring for/affected by parental/familial substance misuse and mental health.

Our engagement with young carers covers early to high intervention needs. We also support cases of historical parental substance use, where the young carer may, or may not still be residing with their parent, but continues to be affected by the experience.

In order to be successful with this role, you will need to be able to demonstrate that you have extensive experience of: -

Delivering direct interventions with vulnerable young people (8-25) on both a one to one and group work capacity. As well as working to support the family network.

Co-producing care and safety plans with young people that are young people led, focusing on both a relational & strength-based approach.

Extensive partnership working in a multi-agency environment to ensure that the needs and wishes of the young person are heard and acted upon.

You will work as part of a team and need to be able to work in a flexible way which includes flexing their day and work location as need indicates, including being based in the locality office in Chelmsford and working in the home environment to increase convenience and accessibility

You will need to demonstrate that you have:

-A relevant professional qualification working with vulnerable children and families is desired e.g., Diploma/degree in social work, counselling qualification, professional youth worker or related NVQ or degree. Or Substantial relevant experience of working with vulnerable young people facing significant challenges within this sector.

-Substantial experience of working with vulnerable young people and families that are hard to reach and from diverse backgrounds on both a one-to-one basis and through group work interventions.

-Experience of supporting adolescents who are dealing with complex and sensitive issues through offering advice and advocacy.

-Experience of partnership and multi-agency working.

-Experience of working on one's own and within a team.

Do you have a passion for supporting young people's emotional health and wellbeing? We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our dedicated team on a full-time basis as a Community Wellbeing Mentor.

Barnardo's Community Wellbeing Mentors hold a caseload of up to 10 children and young people (aged 6-18 years old) providing early intervention to those who are experiencing poor emotional health and wellbeing either on a 1:1 or group basis. This support can take place at the young persons home, at their school or a community venue.

About the role...
What you’ll be expected to do:

• Assess and support people for 12 months who have been through homelessness, placing them in stable jobs and safe homes
• Build partnerships with businesses willing to work with Standing Tall to employ people who have been through homelessness
• Recruit, train, and support Standing Tall’s Amici Hosts to provide safe homes for people who have been through homelessness
• Having responsibility for Standing Tall’s operations and activities in Leeds.

About the role:

This role is based in our Islington office with the flexibility of hybrid working. As a Children & Young People's Caseworker, you will:

• Conduct needs and risk assessments to ensure each CYP receives an individual support package that meets their needs, including safety planning, advocacy, emotional & practical support.
• Provide one to one support to children & young people living in families affected by domestic abuse, managing a caseload of approx. 12-15
• Regularly review the assessment of risk ensuring appropriate action is taken, making referrals to MARAC and local safeguarding processes
• Consult & involve children & young people in making decisions about themselves & service developments
• Establish links with relevant statutory partners in Social Care, Education, Health, Police and Housing, attending meetings as required

You will need:

• Experience working directly with vulnerable children & young people aged 4 - 17, on a one to one basis, with a proven ability to engage these clients through creative & appropriate methods
• Knowledge of risk assessment & taking appropriate action to safeguard as required
• An understanding of the issues for children & young people experiencing crime, domestic abuse and relationship abuse
• Ability to work with both internal & external stakeholders
• Effective organisational skills, able to prioritise effectively whilst maintaining accurate & confidential case records
• Strong written & verbal communication skills
• Good IT skills including Word, Excel, databases, internet and Outlook

Bounce Back for Kids (BB4K) is a lifeline for children healing from the trauma of domestic abuse. Sadly, the demand for our programme continues to rise. We supported 223 families in 2023 through individual and group therapeutic support sessions.

Location: Hybrid role based in our Warrington Office. 

The Dementia Support Line Team Leader is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Support Line which receives over 60000 calls per year and operates across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. 

The Dementia Support Line Team Leader manages a team of Dementia Advisers providing leadership and direction to ensure they provide a highly responsive service, giving appropriate advice and support to people affected by dementia. 

In this role you will coach and develop your team to deliver high quality person-centred support for everybody affected by dementia. You will be part of the team ensuring management cover across the operating hours of the service. We are looking for someone who exemplifies our values, someone who is: Determined to make a difference when and where it matters most. Key responsibilities: 

- Responsible for the recruitment, development and performance management of Dementia Advisers working within the service. Use coaching and mentoring and strong people management skills to ensure a positive outcome on service quality, employee satisfaction, productivity, absence management, and employee emotional resilience.  
- Engender a positive, solutions focussed working environment with a good team spirit and sense of equity. 
- Manage competing demands and deadlines by adopting a flexible and proactive approach. 
- Enable and empower advisers to work to their potential and contribute to the supportive and collaborative culture within the hub management team.
- Support advisers across sites and maintain the rota to ensure appropriate levels of staffing are in place throughout the service hours to meet the demand and needs of people affected by dementia.
- Contribute to projects and continuing service improvement activities. 

About you
 
As a Dementia Support line Team Leader you will:

- Be able to manage your team to ensure the provision of a high quality service to people affected by dementia.
- Have experience of managing staff as well as strong IT skills and the ability to use management data to ensure KPIs and standards of service are met.
- Have experience of integrated telephony systems and service user databases.
- Have an understanding of the needs of people with dementia and their carers and direct experience of working in a lead role in a telephone and e-mail based service.
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Have the ability to coach, mentor and support staff, getting the best out of them.

Main Purpose of the Job

The Digital Enabler will work with the District Leadership Team and the Communications Officer to build the digital communications capacity of the District at every level, to facilitate effective participation by all members in the life of the church in the North West District, and to make use of new opportunities for mission and community-building in the digital sphere.

Key Responsibilities

1.Ensure that the District leadership is able to fulfil its responsibilities by ensuring there are reliable digital platforms for online, live-streamed and recorded meetings and events, for electronic dissemination of information (via web, social media and mailings), and audio and video recording and sharing..

2.Enable all members of churches in the District to have the opportunity for participation in District forums and events, and to receive information from their District and Circuits.

3.Co-operate with District and Circuit leaders, ministers and pioneers in the development of new forms of mission and church communities using a range of digital resources.

Key Tasks

Training and Support

1.Create a digital strategy for the District, identifying the essential resources and support needed to enable full participation at every level, and the opportunities for missional work in the online world.

2.Support the administration and governance of the District by facilitating online synods, committees and consultations.

3.Build a network of “digital champions” within Circuits and provide advice and support for local training and capacity building.

4.Devise and deliver online training courses for Circuits and churches.

5.Develop a “Digital Community of Practice” across the District, and linking where appropriate across the Connexion, which will envisage and create new ways of being and growing church in the digital age.

6.Work with safeguarding officers to raise awareness of digital safeguarding issues, and create usable information and guidelines for Circuits and churches.

Facilities and Resources

1.Work with the Communications Officer in building and maintaining the District’s online presence, including the website and social media.

2.Develop a range of digital tools and resources for the use of the District and its Circuits, and assist in their implementation. (These could include servicing local website and social media initiatives, plan-making and emailing applications.)

3.Collect and disseminate information on digital specialists in the District who can serve Circuits and churches. (This could include graphic designers, web and database programmers, audio-visual and streaming experts and others.)

Events and Online Communities

1.Provide technical support for online and live-streamed District events, including advertising, registration and ticketing, online and streaming facilities.

2.Work with the Mission Area Leads, Circuits and pioneers in implementing digital services, online communities and missional initiatives.

Personal Training and Growth

1.Maintain an awareness of changes in digital applications and resources, and consider how they can be used in the District.

2.Identify opportunities to expand knowledge and understanding, including by appropriate courses.

3.Reflect theologically on issues around faith in the digital world, and the opportunities for sharing the gospel by these means.

The Birmingham & Solihull team are well-established, local experts in face-to-face Dementia Support with a range of experience and knowledge to tailor our community-based service to the diverse local population.
