This role requires excellent communication and administrative skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with the management team, Wellbeing Consultant team, Therapist Team and the wider Penny Brohn UK organisation. We are looking for a professional who has extensive administrative experience with attention to detail. Candidates should be self-motivated and able to work on their own initiative within set parameters. Advanced IT skills are a prerequisite.

As CTA's Business Development Manager, your role involves increasing the uptake of MiDAS training and growing CTA membership. This will include collaborating with multiple teams internationally, including the Programmes, Grants Management, Finance and Philanthropic Partnerships teams, to design and implement systems, processes and improvements to ensure high quality budget management and high standards of donor and regulatory compliance across all funded activity.
The role will also be responsible for the budget management of all programmatic activities, working with Programmes colleagues, Advisory Board representatives, donor relationship managers, Finance staff and others to ensure funds are spent appropriately in line with project plans and donor obligations.
You will design and implement systematic and operational improvements to ensure high standards of donor compliance and budget and funding management across the organisation, in partnership with the global Operations, Grants Management, Programmes, Finance and Philanthropic Partnerships / Development teams.
You will ensure that funded activities are managed responsibly in order to align with donor requirements; maintain a good understanding of donor budgets and contractual obligations and coordinate with Philanthropic Partnerships colleagues to ensure compliance. You will also provide timely, accurate information on funded activities to support the completion of high-quality donor proposals and reports as required.
This role will also require programme support and you will project manage specific donor-funded activities where the charity holds responsibility for implementation, especially in relation to outsourced consultancy work where the supplier contract is held. This includes working closely with Programmes and Philanthropic Partnerships teams to define roles and responsibilities and implementation timeframes; monitoring progress; and identifying and resolving potential challenges with implementation.
This role is fully remote although will require quarterly visits to London for team get togethers.

FUNCTION: Delivering our successful mentoring programmes in Tyne & Wear, Tees Valley and across the wider NE area.
WHERE THE ROLE FITS: Reporting to: North Senior Network Manager
SALARY: £27,825 per annum
CONTRACT: Fixed Term Contract - 12 months with possibility of extension
HOURS: 5 days per week, 37.5 hours (with some evening work)

WHAT WE DO
Young people from lower income families are 40% less likely to go to University than wealthier peers (Dept for Education, 2020) which can have a lifelong impact on earning potential. Covid-19 has deepened inequalities (Social Mobility Foundation, 2022) and negatively impacted on young people's wellbeing (GirlGuiding, 2020). We believe that no girls should have their futures limited by their gender, sex, ethnicity, background, or parental income and they should be supported to realise their ambitions, to discover their self-worth, and to develop their capacity to shape their world and their futures.
We work in communities of least advantage across England to deliver two core programmes to achieve this vision. Through our mentoring programme we connect 14-19 year old girls with a mentor and a wider network of role models who are women and deliver opportunities which help them to build life skills and nurture their ambitions. Based on the idea that 'you can't be what you can't see', our mentors often help girls to broaden their horizons and create a more positive vision of their futures. After the programme, the mentees can join a free, lifelong network of support - our Ambassador Community, which offers further opportunities to reach their goals, build their confidence and to share their voices and experiences.
Our programmes help girls and young women to develop the knowledge, skills, self-belief and opportunities to thrive, and to be supported as part of a network that champions them and ensures their voices are heard.
THE ROLE
This is an exciting role joining a Programme Team of 15 staff based throughout the UK. There is a small team of 3 based in the North East. You will work closely and collaborate with the other Network Managers and share some priorities across the region, working to develop the region as a whole. This is a role reliant on good relationships. 70-80% of the role is about relationship building (with schools, mentors and partners), coordination and the tracking/ administration of those relationships. Only 15-20% of the role is direct delivery with the girls in the region.
Mentoring programme
- Manage overall success of the cohorts (groups of mentees and mentors) in your region, including coordinating and administering events and communications for cohorts in your area.
- Deliver engaging on-boarding sessions for mentees
- Design and deliver events and workshops for mentees
- Deliver matching of mentees and mentors at in-person events or virtually
- Work with the wider programme team to train mentors
- Support mentors once matched through regular check-ins, monthly emails and ad-hoc conversations
- Collect data to track the progress, and impact of, mentoring relationships
- Support mentors with safeguarding concerns, following The Girls’ Network process in line with our child protection policy
- Develop effective relationships with schools, on-boarding, supporting and retaining the partnerships

- Work with the Senior Network Manager in your area to identify professional partnerships and sponsorship with local and national businesses

Business Development at Refugee Council
The Refugee Council is a leading UK organisation working with people seeking asylum and refugees to enable them to live with safety, dignity and to rebuild their lives. Our operational teams are based across England providing advice and specialist support to people on issues that impact their refugee protection journey: navigating the complex asylum system; addressing homelessness and poverty; accessing health care, education, and employment.
We operate four main service departments, Resettlement, Asylum, Integration & Employment and Children’s (IUSS & Youth Development). Main Duties and Responsibilities
The Business Development Manager (Interim) is a pivotal role supporting our services to provide high quality, sustainable support with people seeking asylum and refugees. It plays an essential role to support our operational managers and working with people with lived experience of the refugee protection system to co-design their service models, and secure support for them from statutory commissioners. It is also a key partner for fundraising and communications colleagues, finance and operational colleagues to ensure that the systems needed to mobilise, develop, and sustain our services are fit for purpose.
- Lead bid teams developing complex six and seven figure statutory bids and proposals for single entity and consortium/partnership proposal at regional and national level.
- Lead on design of key service models as directed by Head of Business Development, to develop viable new service models, that prioritise quality, impact and sustainability, and highlight potential contractual or financial risks by working with the Head of Business Development, Service Managers and Finance colleagues.
