Refugee Action Kingston (RAK) is an independent charity dedicated to helping the successful integration of refugees and people seeking asylum into the local community. With over three decades of experience, we provide a holistic service which includes advice on welfare, benefits, and immigration, alongside education, counselling, and career guidance.

In 2023/24 we supported 2,036 people:

• 1,171 clients accessed advice and advocacy services, including immigration advice
• 305 accessed ESOL classes
• 250 children supported through after school and family support services
• 61 people supported through our counselling service

This is an exciting time to join RAK at the start of the new fundraising strategy for 2024-2028. RAK currently has a successful grant fundraising programme through a selection of statutory bodies, trusts and foundations, and recognises the need - and opportunity - to broaden and diversify its income generation streams. We are looking for a fundraiser to build on existing strengths within the organisation to broaden our income stream through corporate support, individual giving, major donors and social media fundraising campaigns alongside maintaining and developing our trusts and foundations funding. 

Our new Director, Elli Free, has 25 years’ experience supporting people seeking asylum and substantial fundraising experience. Elli is looking forward to working collaboratively with the new Fundraising Manager to ensure RAK sustains its work in Kingston and reaches into neighbouring boroughs.

Purpose of the role

As Fundraising Manager, you will lead the fundraising functions of the charity to generate income, meet organisational targets, and ensure development opportunities are effectively maximised. Working with the Director and programme teams, you will develop and write competitive bids, growing capacity and securing income for 24/25 and beyond. We are focused on multi-year bids and opportunities that deliver the best outcomes for our client community. As a client-led organisation, we strive to meet the needs of our clients and deliver impact-focused programmes.

The Fundraising Manager will have proven experience of successful grant writing and demonstrate a track record of fundraising achievements across multiple income streams.

Main areas of accountability

Fundraising - general

• Writing and submitting bids, tenders and proposals to ensure income targets are met in line with performance objectives
• Responsibility for the development and the implementation of RAK’s fundraising strategy, in line with organisational strategy and resources
• Providing stewardship to existing donors and supporters to maximise income and ensure long-term funding relationships
• Contributing to the monitoring and evaluation of the impact of the services provided at RAK

Trusts and Foundations, Statutory Funding

• Securing regular income by producing and submitting appealing fundraising applications to trusts and foundations as well as statutory funding
• Researching, monitoring, and identifying new funding opportunities for the development of existing or new services and organisational capacity
• Reporting to funders in line with funding criteria, objectives and the specified outcomes conditional to the funding

Individual Giving

• Ensuring that donations are acknowledged in an appropriate and timely manner in line with the stewardship policy
• Managing the charity’s supporter database and online donations
• Developing an excellent supporters’ journey via digital means and channels
• Preparing appealing fundraising campaigns and cases for support to the general public
• Working with the Partnership and Digital Marketing Co-ordinator to maximise income from social media channels and other digital channels
• Keeping up to date with professional best practice and recent trends, identifying developments that impact the organisation, and sharing knowledge appropriately across teams and departments

Corporate Giving

• Leading the expansion of RAK’s corporate giving initiatives, identifying and developing opportunities for engagement, and achieving the corporate income target
• Managing the Partnership and Digital Marketing Coordinator, whose primary focus is on corporate giving

General Duties

• Undertaking any other related duties as required and appropriate to the role.

• Significant fundraising successes, preferably across different income streams

Summary of role

The Community Fundraising Lead will work as part of the Partnerships team. The role will collaborate on the development of the community fundraising strategy and will lead on its implementation. The role will include engaging our community with a range of fundraising opportunities and will play a vital role in generating the funding needed for Choose Love to continue to support displaced people around the World.

Core Responsibilities

• Drive revenue via community fundraising generated by individual fundraisers, employees of our corporate partner base and small businesses supporting Choose Love

• Build a creative, diverse community fundraising strategy using learnings from your previous experience

• Collaborate with partnerships comms and digital teams on the creation of community fundraiser journey, downloadable pack and assets for fundraisers and ensure these are kept up to date

• Act as the key point of contact for Choose love community fundraisers, helping keep them informed and supported and giving them the tools to maximise their donations 

• Work towards fundraising targets by building Choose Love's community fundraising activity

• Regularly identify and explore new opportunities for fundraising 

• Help to generate and realise new community fundraising ideas

• Work with communications team to ensure regular updates about community fundraising activities to drive donations and inspire and ask others to fundraise for Choose Love

Events Assistance

• Event support for both Choose Love events and external events organised by VIPs, community fundraisers and other stakeholders - this can be everything from tracking RSVPs to arranging printed materials, payment devices, merchandise and coordinating corporate volunteers at the event

• Assisting with elements of the Choose Love Shop, as required, including logistics, facilities, technology, being an onsite point of contact for talent, corporate volunteers and other stakeholders and occasional shop shifts to help out at busy times

• Running ad hoc pop up merch stalls with corporate partners

• Running festival stalls 

General Partnerships 

• Working collaboratively with the team and Choose Love Leadership to creatively and practically build the Partnerships team’s fundraising revenue 

• Being a first point of contact with supporters messaging on our social media channels and engaging with the Choose Love online community

About You:

You will need to be passionate about Choose Love’s vision and mission, building strong relationships with our local and community supporters. 

Essential criteria include:

• At least 2 years experience in a community fundraising role 

• Exemplary communication abilities with a can-do attitude

• A self-starter who will enjoy the autonomy of getting to deliver a strategy you’ve helped to shape and seeing the results!

• Creative and interested in exploring new opportunities and trends to help keep Choose Love ahead of the curve

• Excellent organisational abilities with meticulous attention to detail.

• Able to be flexible, work out of hours when needed and assist with things outside the normal scope of the role when things get busy. We are a small team so this attitude is very important!

 The role

We have experienced an exponential growth in income from public fundraising leading to an increased awareness of fuel poverty. To build on this success and maintain increased unrestricted income from a wider fundraising mix, we are recruiting a Fundraising Officer to join our knowledgeable and caring team.

The new Fundraising officer will join a small, friendly, but hardworking team who raise funds from a variety of sources including trust and foundations, corporate partnerships, major donors, events and community fundraisers and individual giving.  

What you will need to succeed

You will have a strong knowledge of fundraising and income generation, and you will play a major part in significantly increasing income growth. Reporting into the Fundraising Manager, you will be a motivated and talented Fundraising Officer who will help us grow our unrestricted income and expand our pool of donors. 

You will be required to lead your own portfolio of work, researching and identifying potential new funders, submitting applications and pitching for partnerships and support, as well as building strong relationships with donors. 

You should have demonstrable experience of working in a Fundraising role, with the ability to cover the whole spectrum of fundraising duties, thinking strategically and working operationally.

Your base location is negotiable, but you will be expected to travel across England, Wales and Northern Ireland with overnight stays as required.   

Hybrid and home working is subject to necessary H&S and GDPR checks. Post holders must be resident within the UK and be able to provide their Right to Work in the UK. 

We are offering: 

£29,778 to £34,546 per annum (Scale 6 - SO1, Points 18 – 25) plus London weighting of £3,300 if applicable. New appointments will usually begin at the starting point of the scale. 

· 11½% non-contributory pension.

· 25 days annual leave plus 3 additional days in between Christmas New Year Period when our offices close; plus, all public holidays per annum for full time staff, pro-rata for part time staff.

About Victoria Hall Harrow

The Victoria Hall Harrow charity started in 1888, with the aim of building a high quality venue for the people of Harrow to come together and to build community. Since then our venue Victoria Hall has been rebuilt twice, most recently reopening to the public in Summer 2021. We also created a new charity some years back (a CIO), transferring the assets of the old charity over. For this reason our Charity Commission listing below is not representative of our current financial position and our assets. 

For around 140 years Victoria Hall has provided space for rent to local residents and groups. It has been used for every possible purpose - parties, events, activities, conferences and much more. 

More recently the trustee board have embarked on a renewed strategy process, and we are now relaunching the charity as a partnership-first community centre, that identifies local needs and uses our assets to best meet those needs, working with a wide range of partners to serve the local diverse communities. 

In June 2024 we agreed our new Vision and Mission. We are still now working through the overall draft of our strategy, which we will be happy to share with you as soon as it is ready in 1st draft form.

Role Summary

As our first CEO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Victoria Hall. • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement Victoria Hall's strategic vision, ensuring alignment with our mission and values, with a strong focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

• Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the community centre, including financial management, fundraising, marketing, and facilities management.

• Partnership Development: Build strong relationships with a diverse range of local organisations, businesses, and individuals to create a network of support for Victoria Hall's programs and services.

• Financial management and governance: Ensuring that we have robust processes in place, and that our finances are well managed. 

• Community Engagement: Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment at Victoria Hall, ensuring that our programs and services meet the needs of diverse community members.

• Staff Management: Provide leadership and support to the Centre Manager and other future staff, fostering a positive, collaborative, and diverse work environment.

• Governance: Work closely with the Board of Trustees, ensuring that we are effective and develop together. Provide regular reports and updates on Victoria Hall's progress.

As VHH is a very small charity, you will be fully hands on in all possible areas of strategy, governance and operations. You will need to be comfortable across all areas for which you will be responsible.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

• Proven experience in a senior leadership role, ideally within the charity or community sector.

This important role is a new position on the team and will lead on the delivery of an innovative and sustainable corporate strategy to develop new and existing partnerships in order to grow our corporate income streams.

The role demands strong leadership qualities for the development and implementation of a corporate strategic plan to guide a newly merged corporate team across Martlets, St Barnabas and Chestnut Tree House for the next 3-5 years. Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy and Communications, the post holder will be responsible for leading on these plans and managing a team of four across the three hospice sites.

This role is hybrid and will be based across our three hospice sites: Martlets in Hove, St Barnabas House in Worthing, Chestnut Tree House near Arundel.

As part of the wider Enterprise team, our Commercial Marketing Assistant will help devise and deliver marketing campaigns and strategies that will grow audiences and increase revenues across our key commercial income streams. The successful candidate will oversee, coordinate, and manage our commercial marketing channels concentrating on finding and developing new partnerships alongside the Head of Enterprise, marketing and promoting our major sites for partnership working with external organisations.

They will:

1. Assist in the production of marketing collateral and material for the B2B market and the promotion of the Champing brand.

2. Work alongside the Communications team to assist in drafting content and key messages for social media, websites and PR, all of which should adhere to CCT brand guidelines. Handle incoming commercial marketing enquiries as appropriate.

3. Liaise with prospective filming enquiries and work with the local teams to help deliver commercial filming contracts.

4. Build positive working relationships, with internal and external stakeholders, to build on existing opportunities, promote and drive engagement with commercial opportunities.

5. Conduct marketing and audience research, to help support and deliver future revenue growth and gather data to report against KPIs and targets.

6. Support in the delivery and wider administration of commercial operations, working with the Enterprise team and freelancers on the ground. The overarching goal will be to grow CCT's commercial revenues.

In this role you will support approximately 38 people who are based across Brussels, Mexico, and Trinidad and Tobago.

The will be part time, 3 days a week (flexible as to which days) and only require one day in the London office per week for the initial period with a view to make it less, should you so wish, thereafter. The main responsibilities are:

• Regional People Plans: Develop and implement regional people plans with DPOC, Regional, and Divisional Directors.
• Employee Lifecycle: Manage and enhance the employee lifecycle to ensure a positive and consistent experience.
• Recruitment and Talent Management: Plan recruitment to attract diverse talent, support selection processes, and manage talent for consistency and improved performance.
• Resource Management and Policies: Work with Regional Directors on resource management, adapt and implement People Policies, and handle pay review cycles.

The successful candidate will have:

• Full fluency in both English and Spanish, this will be required when communicating with the Mexico office and line managing your HR Officer who is based there.
• Qualified HR professional with extensive experience across the entire employee life cycle.
• Experienced HR or People Partner advising Senior Management Teams and working internationally on recruitment and employee relations.
• Proven track record in developing ambitious people plans, delivering projects, and co-designing key initiatives.
• Skilled in working with diverse, multicultural, and multilingual groups, with experience in psychometric profiling for multi-cultural environments and regulations

Growing Hope is a charity providing free therapy for children and young people with additional needs in partnership with local churches across the UK. We aim to grow hope for children, hope for families and hope in Jesus.

Growing Hope was founded in December 2017 and has a vision to see 20 clinics set up across the UK by 2030. We have three clinics, King’s Cross, Brockley and High Wycombe, and we are currently setting up a fourth clinic in Gateshead and a fifth in Redbridge. Each clinic is a local CIO which runs in partnership with Growing Hope and the local church. We have worked with over 700 children, young people, parents, carers and siblings since we launched. As a national charity Growing Hope has trained over 500 professionals & parents. We are continuing to expand, with the set-up of further local clinics on the horizon.

This role will report to the CEO of the charity and will work closely as part of the Senior Leadership team. The Director of Growth will have oversight of Fundraising, Communications, Marketing and Clinic Growth within the charity. This will involve line management of the Fundraising Manager and Executive Assistant in the team. The charity has a vision to champion accessibility UK wide and to set up twenty clinics in partnership with local churches by 2030, there’s a current pipeline in progress to achieve this. As the charity grows we want to ensure that we have strong financial strategy and growth plans which enable us to achieve our vision. As a small charity, the role will require balancing practical tasks with strategic planning and management. The role will be based in King’s Cross with occasional events outside of the office. We envisage the focus of the role to be split with a 40% focus on income generation, 20% on Clinic Growth and 20% on brand, marketing and PR, all aspects of the role will include leadership and management.

Main Duties and Responsibilities 
Duties and responsibilities will be discussed and developed as the charity continues to grow, but will include: 

Leadership and Management:

• Working as part of the Senior Leadership team to strategically support the running of the charity.
• Providing line management for the Fundraising Manager, Executive Assistant and other potential members of the team as the charity grows. 
• Leading and participating in prayer and worship with the team in line with Growing Hope’s Christian values.
• Ownership of income raising of £710,000 for the national charity with a view to growth each year. In addition to this an income of approximately £100,000 for each local clinic and ensuring that income targets are met across the national and local charities.

Fundraising Strategy & Finance: 

• Lead the development and execution of long-term financial plans in close alignment with the charity’s strategic goals from a Fundraising perspective.
• Reporting monthly to the Growing Hope senior team and trustee board on income, forecasts and plans to hit income targets. 
• Manging the fundraising, marketing and communications budget lines.
• Oversee the process of forecasting and planning income for analysis of the leadership team and Board of Trustees.
• Support fundraising strategy development and long term planning for growth.
• Explore and implement strategies for ensuring best use of charitable funds, and maintaining financial sustainability.
• Explore and implement innovative strategies to ensure that Growing Hope are raising funds as effectively as possible at both a national and a local level.

Marketing and Communication: 

• Overseeing and developing Marketing and Communication strategy across the charity, including PR development, socials and internal and external communications. 
• Oversight of projects and campaigns running across Growing Hope.
• Promoting the Growing Hope brand both internally and externally. 
• Developing strategies to support staff with understanding and working to the Growing Hope values.
• Oversight of marketing and advertising on behalf of the charity. 
• Analysing key marketing performance metrics and using tracking tools to provide market research, forecasts, competitive analyses, campaign results, and consumer trends to formulate actionable insights for the marketing team. 
• Formulating unique insights to understand the stakeholders from a marketing perspective.

Person Specification

We are looking to appoint our very first Community Engagement Officer who will develop local networks, reach out to people and collate their experiences. You will value inclusion and be able to engage people who may have poorer health consequences because of their care experiences, and the quality of or their access to maternity and other related services.This post is aimed at meeting the needs of mothers, parents and families by asking questions and sharing their insights. You will deliver a workplan in a small team with the Project Officer and MNVP Lead, helping to represent users so that their voices influence the planning, design and safety of public services. This role includes communication with and facilitation of activity with volunteers and members. This work is offered at 20 hours a week, with some room for flexibility after interview. 

Do you have experience in successfully managing complex projects, ideally in a not-for -profit environment?  We are seeking an experienced Programme Manager to develop and shape programmes to successfully deliver against the Church of England’s ambitious target to become net-zero by 2030.

This role will be working across both Rochester and Canterbury Diocese and the successful applicant will need to have current working knowledge of environmental and climate issues.

This is a new role which is funded for two years. 

 Key Responsibilities

The post-holder(s) will:

• Oversee the ongoing development and delivery of the Net Zero Carbon (NZC) programmes for both dioceses.
• Maximise the alignment of the plans for each diocese as far as is practical to optimise the benefit of working together in partnership, and actively identify and develop opportunities for partnership working in delivery. Specifically, to develop a NZC action plan for Rochester including managing the adoption of the plan by the appropriate governance committees. (Note: Canterbury already has an approved NZC action plan.)
• Develop, maintain and deliver an implementation plan which highlights the strategic activities, has clear objectives and impact measures; including evaluation.
• Working with other diocesan colleagues, oversee the planning and development of decarbonisation projects to deliver the ambitions and targets in the NZC Action plans.

The Ideal Candidate

You will have a track record of delivering complex multi-stakeholder projects, ideally in a not-for-profit environment with and understanding of environmental and climate issue.  An understanding of how these issues affect the Church of England would be beneficial.
