Key responsibilities:

Operations:

• Plan, lead and manage the operational functions of The Childhood Trust, ensuring alignment with the Trust’s mission, strategic goals and growth plan.
• Work with the CEO and the leadership team to develop and implement strategies and ways of working to achieve the Trust’s objectives.

Human Resources and People Development

• Lead the development and delivery of the organisation’s people strategy[LR1] [NM2] . 
• Oversee the Human Resources function, including recruitment, retention, performance evaluation, employee learning and development.
• Foster a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and collaboration, nurturing a positive and supportive working environment.

Compliance and Risk Management

• Ensure the Trust operates in full compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, and ethical standards, including ensuring all staff have necessary training and DBS check requirements
• Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them effectively.
• Maintain the risk register.
• Maintain strong governance and adherence to best practices in charity management 

​Governance and Reporting

• Support the HR, Finance, Programmes and Fundraising teams, contributing to their work as required. 
• Produce an annual operational plan and monitor weekly, monthly, and quarterly progress against the plan.
• Develop and produce monthly management reports for the CEO
• Produce quarterly operational reports for board meetings.

IT and Office 

•  Coordinate IT support services, including m[HR5] anaging the setup of new starters on various TCT IT and digital platforms and channels.
• Lead on the office move, set up and management

AAUK are seeking a Head of Trusts and Global Markets to lead  our dynamic Trusts and Global Markets team to deliver a target of ~£4.5M in 2024 while seeking growth for the future. The role provides leadership across four key areas; Trusts in the UK (including our strategic partnership with the People’s Postcode Lottery), Trusts in Liechtenstein, Partnerships and Philanthropy in the Gulf (primarily Qatar and UAE), and Philanthropy and Partnerships in Singapore and Hong Kong. The role provides strategic direction to each of these areas, supporting the Senior Managers to navigate internal systems and relationships while seeking opportunities for growth and innovation. 

The post holder willplay a key strategic and lead role in the Philanthropy & Partnerships team (P&P), comprising Philanthropy, and Strategic Funding & Insight sub-teams, in order to ensure maximum collaboration, a joined-up approach to donors and increase income across the P&P team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to raise funds from trusts and foundations, as well as managing our global investment portfolio. Working  collaboratively with the Co-CEOs, board and Senior Leaders  to engage and promote  the work of the Trusts and Global Markets team, as well as working collaboratively with colleagues on humanitarian emergencies, ensuring Trusts/regional markets' support is maximised at these times.

Key responsibilities include:

Building and maintaining relationships with key trust and foundation donors
Developing fundraising strategies to secure funding for our programs and projects
Managing our diverse global investment portfolio to achieve financial growth and stability
Monitoring and evaluating the performance of our investments and adjusting strategies as needed
Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure alignment with organisational goals and objectives

To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in finance, fundraising, or investment management, as well as excellent communication and relationship-building skills. A solid understanding of trusts, foundations, and global markets is also essential.

Scope of role

The Head of Programme & Organisational Development is also one of two Co-Leads of On Purpose London. As such, they are jointly responsible for the London Associate Programme in partnership with the Co-Lead of On Purpose London who focuses on  Business Development & Community. We find this co-leadership model offers a useful balance of mutual support and challenge, role-modelling how we believe leadership should operate.

You would be part of our cross-organisational leadership team of six city leads and the CEO. This group is a source of valuable peer support and a forum in which to collaborate, coordinate and learn together, through which you will contribute to strategy and organisational development and lead and support specific cross-city improvement initiatives.

Whilst this role focuses on the On Purpose London programme delivery and organisational development, it is a collaborative role with shared responsibility for all of the London team and operations.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our fledgling Fundraising Team and develop a trust fundraising programme from the ground up.  We are looking for someone with experience in raising funds from trusts and foundations, who is an excellent communicator - spoken and written – and who can undertake research to effectively identify appropriate prospects.  You will help to develop our case for support and develop a suite of proposals and reports that will convey to funders what Parentkind does, what the parents and schools we work with want, and how we support them.  Attention to detail is key, as is the ability to manage your time and prioritise your work.

The Role

As our Director of Finance and Operations, you will provide strategic oversight of finance and operations, ensuring our financial sustainability and viability. The role is part of our Strategy and Leadership Council (SLC) and Operations Committee (OC), supporting the delivery of our Manifesto, which provides a renewed approach to impact and achieving our mission.

Supporting the delivery of our strategy and transformation agenda, you’ll deliver advice to senior leadership and provide strategic direction to our Finance, IT and Operations/Facilities Teams.

You will also lead our annual business budgeting and planning processes, working closely with the Executive Director (ED), Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Director of Strategy and Learning to allocate resources and report regularly on financial and risk related issues.

Additionally, you will:

- Report regularly to the Finance, Audit and Risk Assessment Board sub-committee.
- Identify the risks and opportunities to inform IIED’s future sustainability as well as driving improvements to support our vision.
- Oversee treasury management and manage our reserves.
- Have oversight of key bids to ensure commerciality and alignment between financial goals and strategic business priorities.
- Ensure adequate overhead recovery from funding arrangements.
- Lead on the development and improvement of financial policies, processes, and systems.
- Lead on the statutory audit process and be responsible for third-party audits.
- Coach and supervise direct reports.

To be considered as our Director of Finance and Operations, you will need to be a qualified professional with an ACA, ACCA or CIMA (or equivalent) qualification with experience in:

- Financial, operations and IT management
- Financial planning, forecasting and budgeting
- Management and leadership in the not-for-profit sector
- Strategy development, project and risk management
- Leading implementation and upgrade of ERP systems
- Building strong relationships across a diverse and international stakeholder map
- Operating within the international and regulatory landscape in which IIED operates, with an understanding of VAT partial exemption and the application of VAT legislation to a global organisation

Background

Hackney Migrant Centre (HMC) delivers a free advice and support service for vulnerable migrants who have immigration, housing, welfare and health problems. We support visitors to secure their immigration status and move out of homelessness and destitution in the long-term, as well as assisting to address immediate issues, such as access to healthcare. HMC’s work is informed by a vision of a UK where no one is forced into destitution, exploitation or vulnerability as a result of their immigration status.

We have secured funding from Trust for London to employ an Immigration Advisor. The Immigration Advisor will provide immigration advice and assist visitors to make immigration and asylum applications. The postholder will work alongside external advisors to provide initial immigration advice on matters including human rights based applications, asylum, trafficking and family reunion. Advisors will work alongside Immigration Caseworkers and volunteers to coordinate and oversee the next steps for visitors after the initial immigration advice has been provided.

This role sits within the Immigration team, consisting of an Immigration Team Manager (part time), an Immigration Caseworker and a Long Residence Immigration Caseworker. HMC also benefits from two Housing & Destitution Caseworkers and the support of a Fundraising Officer and Volunteer & Participation Manager who are managed by the Operations Manager and CEO. HMC is supported by over 50 dedicated volunteers who work across the organisation. In addition, HMC works closely with a number of partner organisations to ensure visitors can access specialist legal advice and long-term support with immigration, housing, destitution, health and wellbeing. These include, Together with Migrant Children and Islington Law Centre.

We are keen to hear from applicants who have OISC Level 3 accreditation, the equivalent IAAS or a valid exemption. We will consider applicants with OISC Level 2 accreditation who can demonstrate experience of skills required below.

MAIN DUTIES

1. Advice and casework

- Provide high quality advice and representation for visitors with complex or urgent cases, specific vulnerabilities or those who would otherwise face particular difficulty in accessing representation from legal aid providers. For advisors with Level 3 OISC accreditation, this will be up to and including appeal-stage casework.

- Assist in the supervising of the work of the Immigration Caseworkers and volunteers.

- Provide training to HMC’s volunteers on immigration issues and maintain up to date resources.

- Provide immigration advice and support to the Housing staff team where available housing options and routes out of destitution are dependent on future immigration applications.

2. Collaborative working

- Work with HMC’s existing external advice partners to ensure effective, co-ordination of advocacy and casework support on a wide range of issues.

- Develop links and partnerships with other organisations to enable effective joint working.

- Provide information, statistics and case studies to external and internal stakeholders to support campaigning, advocacy and research relevant to HMC’s visitor group.

- Work closely with partner organisations to identify legal issues affecting HMC’s visitor group and, where appropriate, contribute to litigation and strategic policy work undertaken by external stakeholders to address these matters.

3. Compliance and Regulation

- Ensure HMC is meeting the standards required to maintain OISC accreditation.

- Keep up to date with legislation and guidance required to provide immigration advice at OISC L3 or OISC L2 dependent on accreditation level and meet the relevant OISC competence requirements, including maintaining a Personal Competence record of personal objectives regarding training and development.

- Ensure accurate record keeping using HMC’s case management system.

- Work with the Immigration Team Manager to ensure an effective monitoring system for the work and outcomes of the Immigration Team for funding and reporting purposes.

- Administrative tasks relevant to the post.

4. OTHER DUTIES

The post holder will be expected to:

- Implement sensitively HMC’s policies and procedures, especially with regards to confidentiality and equal opportunities

- Work collaboratively with other HMC staff, volunteers and professional advisors

- Participate actively in staff meetings, and other meetings as may reasonably be required

The My Name’5 Doddie Foundation has a single, clear vision: a world free of Motor Neuron Disease (MND). In the relentless pursuit of this goal, we are committed to funding research projects to accelerate the development of meaningful treatments, focusing on the projects that are most likely to impact people with MND positively.

The Director of Research is a key position in the organisation that leads our research activities, managing a small team as we invest in a prioritised and focused research portfolio. Working alongside the CEO and senior leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing a research strategy that fits seamlessly with the Foundation’s vision, ensuring we have the expertise and resources required to support our programme and initiatives.

As someone with experience working in a scientific research role, you will have the ability to interpret, analyse and utilise research findings and developments, with a deep understanding of the drug discovery and development landscape. You will be someone who constantly seeks out new research approaches, methodologies and funding models, ensuring that the Foundation remains at the forefront with its innovative practices. Knowledge of the research grants system is essential; we’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running.
