At Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, we care for children and young people whose lives are just too short. Our aim is to reach every family that needs our help and to offer them the very best choice of care. Did you know that every year we need to raise £6.5m to keep our doors open and only around 16% of our income comes from government sources, the rest has to be raised through fundraising activity.
Our services include short overnight stays and community breaks at home or in the hospice. We also support the whole family from diagnosis with our multi-disciplinary Family Support team who provide counselling, sibling support groups, music therapy and much more. Our care team support these families in our modern, purpose-built building. All our rooms bedrooms have a homely feel. We have a sensory room, spa pool, cinema room and six acres of gardens.
We support families from a large geographical area, including South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire, North Derbyshire and parts of North Lincolnshire. The hospice is easily accessible from Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster, Sheffield and North Notts. We have free secure on-site parking for families and staff to use.
The role:
As our Fundraising Business Partner, you will be at the forefront of our regional fundraising team. You’ll work hand-in-hand with the Income Generation and Communications Director, crafting and implementing innovative, long-term strategies to expand and diversify our income streams. You’ll identify new opportunities, guide a talented team of six fundraising professionals, and build lasting partnerships that strive to reach our income aims.
Key Responsibilities:
· Management and Leadership: Develop and drive comprehensive fundraising strategies, ensuring alignment with our goals and exploring new funding avenues.
· Team Leadership: Mentor, manage, and inspire a high-performing fundraising team. Lead by example, foster professional development, and create an empowering culture.
· Income Generation: Lead of key fundraising campaigns and build relationships with major donors, corporate partners, and local communities. Work collaboratively with marketing to craft impactful marketing and engagement proposals.
· Business Partnering: Collaborate across all departments and with senior leadership to ensure our fundraising strategy integrates seamlessly with the broader goals of the hospice.
· Financial Management: Oversee budget allocation, reporting, and ROI maximisation to hit income targets and deliver on strategic plans.
· Compliance and Governance: Ensure all fundraising initiatives meet legislative and ethical standards and represent Bluebell Wood at events to foster new relationships and raise our profile.

About the Role:
This is an exciting and varied role, integral to the output of the whole Community, Events & Corporate Team. You will be responsible for managing our portfolio of challenge events, alongside the Community & Events Stewardship Manager, as well as supporting individuals with their own places in events or undertaking their own challenges. You will be responsible for the recruitment and stewardship of event participants, as well as the organisation of on the day support at events, working closely with our Marketing and Data colleagues. This role is crucial in enabling continued and sustainable growth in events fundraising at Helen & Douglas House.
About You:
The position requires someone with a positive attitude who is friendly and resilient. You will be proactive and able to balance a busy workload with conflicting priorities. You will also demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and learning. Experience in a similar role is preferred, ideally within events or community fundraising or supporter care.
Essential skills for the role:
- Events fundraising experience, ideally third party/mass participation or other relevant fundraising experience such as community fundraising or supporter care.
- Ability to build and develop positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience delivering exceptional supporter stewardship.
- Ability to deliver presentations to supporters, and to draft written documents including supporter letters and emails, briefs, and reports.
- Excellent ability to plan and manage a variety of projects to tight and conflicting deadlines.

- Experience of using a CRM database.

We are looking for an Employment Specialist to join our Surrey Employment Service. We help individuals with mental health problems to find paid employment or return to their current role after a period of ill health. We also assist employers and employees to successfully resolve mental health problems in the workplace. But, it’s only possible with the help of people like you.
Your challenge? To do everything you can to help the individuals we work with to source appropriate work experience placements with local organisations/employers. Day to day, you’ll offer support, careers advice and guidance, helping people to set their own recovery and employment-focused goals and provide training in personal and skills development such as CV preparation, interview techniques etc. You’ll also be responsible for establishing and maintaining positive links with community mental health teams (CMHRS), Early Intervention Into Psychosis (EIIP) Teams, partner organisations, local employers and other relevant agencies and have the initiative to develop and promote the service. Additionally, you will have responsibility for maintaining efficient admin systems to ensure referrals, assessments and reviews are completed in a timely manner.
As well as a good understanding of the IPS model of working, mental health problems and the issues and barriers this can create for our clients, you’ll need excellent motivational, presentation and listening skills and a willingness to travel in the local area and to work outside of office hours as required.
There is one vacancy being recruited for covering a smaller geographical area of West Surrey however, the delivery is Surrey and borders-wide. The successful candidate will be based in our Woking office. The post-holder will therefore be a car driver, with access to their own vehicle.
This is a permanent part-time role requiring the post holder to work 30 hours per week.

What you’ll do
The Senior Research Officer will contribute to this research, collecting information from institutions and databases, analysing quantitative and qualitative data, producing engaging content, and translating this analysis into actionable steps for institutions in our reports.
The focus of this role is to support the production and publication of our survey of the European banking sector. In this role, you will work closely with colleagues in both the Financial Sector Research and the Banking Standards teams to:
- Develop a methodology that is consistent with other financial sector benchmarks published by ShareAction, reflects recent market developments, draws on internal and external subject matter expertise, and reflects our campaign priorities.
- Collect, audit and analyse data regarding banks’ climate and sustainability strategies.
- Produce accurate and engaging written reports and data visualisations summarising the key findings of the research and drafting credible and persuasive recommendations.
- Support the presentation of the survey’s findings to banks, investors, funders, and the media.
- Contribute to responses to external consultations from regulators, policymakers, and other NGOs and support data sharing with external partners as appropriate.
The survey and benchmark of the European banking sector will be led by the Banking Programme team, with support from the Financial Sector Research team. This role will sit within the Financial Sector Research team, to benefit from the experience and processes already established for ShareAction’s asset management and insurance benchmarks. While you will focus on the survey of the European banking sector, there will be an opportunity to contribute to and learn about the other financial sector benchmarks as part of this role.
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Analysing quantitative and qualitative data and writing reports on banks’ responsible finance performance.
- Coordinating between the Financial Sector Research and Banking Standards teams to ensure consistency across ShareAction’s financial sector benchmarks.
- Conducting research across the themes covered by the benchmarks that draws on internal and external resources to inform survey development and data analysis.
- Using Excel and Python to analyse and organise large data sets (training will be provided for Python if needed).
- Participating in engagement calls with banks and answering technical questions relating to the research content.
- Presenting findings of our work to external and internal stakeholders through blogs, presentations, webinars, and roundtables and supporting the coordination of these events as appropriate.

The Events Assistant[CF1] is a crucial role at the College as you will help and support colleagues in the delivery of events, from administrative assistance in planning the events, to the production of event documentation, branding or collateral, in addition to liaising with events stakeholders, including speakers, programme leads and delegates.
As Events Assistant, you will provide comprehensive administrative support for online event registration, delegate bookings, delegate communications and associated queries. You will be the first point of contact for event queries, so maintaining a good knowledge of College events and other relevant activities is essential.
Assisting in the research and promotion of opportunities for sponsorship for all events, you will distribute sponsorship packages, confirm sponsorship acquisitions and ensure requirements are fulfilled onsite. You will also produce proposals for assigned events, including timelines, venues, suppliers, draft budgets and staffing requirements.
Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Events, you will help with the delivery of College conferences and study days by providing administrative support for the development of programmes and course materials, whilst also collating and reporting on key event statistics to support the evaluation of the events programme.
With a good level of education,[CF2] you should have a background in customer-facing roles, be an excellent verbal and written communicator and have experience of interacting via email, telephone and in-person.
With an understanding of GDPR and an excellent level of computer knowledge, keyboard skills and software, you should be able to use and format documents on the Microsoft platform and have the ability to learn new software packages.
Knowledge of events and conferencing, including the processes surrounding the delivery of events, as well as experience of event administration would be desirable. ShareAction’s Banking Standards team works towards holding banks accountable for their impact on people and planet, with a particular focus on climate change. Through your work, you will have the opportunity to influence the banking sector’s approach to sustainability by highlighting areas of improvement and leading practices among Europe’s largest banks. In close collaboration with colleagues in the Banking Standards and Financial Sector Research teams, you will:
- Lead survey development: Oversee all aspects of our banking survey, from designing methodology and collecting and analysing data to producing engaging written outputs and data visualisations that summarise key findings. You will coordinate the project from start to finish and liaise with multiple stakeholders, ensuring that surveys remain consistent with other ShareAction benchmarks and align with our campaign priorities.
- Conduct thematic research: Undertake research and engage with internal and external subject matter experts to inform positions on themes covered in banking surveys, ensuring that surveys are based on robust criteria and reflect the latest market developments.
- Engage with key stakeholders: Design engaging presentations and present survey findings and recommendations to banks, investors, and other stakeholders. You will act as an internal and external spokesperson for the banking survey, with the support of the Communications team and members of the Banking team. Additionally, you will contribute to external consultations and coordinate data-sharing initiatives with partners.
- Contribute to monitoring, evaluation and learning: Support the development and implementation of a monitoring, evaluation, and learning strategy for our banking surveys to continuously enhance their impact, relevance, and delivery process.
- Support funding and resource development: Assist with funding bids to secure resources for the survey’s continued growth and impact. You will also be responsible for hiring and managing additional researchers when necessary.

The Directorate

Join Operation Smile UK as our Senior Acquisition Manager and make a difference in the lives of children. We're searching for a fundraising professional with experience in acquiring new donors through a variety of fundraising channels including Door to Door (F2F), digital fundraising, DRTV, cold mailing and door drops. You'll be responsible for managing a £2.4 million budget and developing innovative strategies to increase individual cash and regular giving support. This role is not responsible for the supervision or direction of staff.
Operation Smile is a global nonprofit specialising in cleft surgery and care. We provide medical training, education and mentorship to surgical teams around the world, along with expertise, research and care through our staff and volunteers, working alongside local governments, nonprofits and health systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and drive recruitment of regular givers and cash givers to grow income and supporter volumes, in a multi-channel programme including Door to Door (F2F), digital fundraising channels, DRTV, cold mailing and door drops.
- Manage relationships with agency partners executing acquisition campaigns on behalf of Operation Smile UK for the betterment of the acquisition programme.
- Lead and execute our door-to-door (F2F) programme with the goal of expanding this form of acquisition fundraising over the coming years.
- Conduct a comprehensive evaluation of OSUK's digital acquisition fundraising program, including the performance of current agencies and consultants. Develop strategic recommendations and a future-focused plan that leverages the expertise of existing or new external partners.
- Full campaign management and execution in line with prescribed deadlines. This includes briefing agencies, sourcing content, managing data, copy development, proofing, briefing stakeholders, training agents, developing campaign analysis and reporting, managing costs and invoice processing.
- Monitor and report on budgets and assist in building future expenditure and income targets. Work as part of the Individual Giving team to reach strategic targets.
- Work closely with the Communications & Digital team, and Individual Giving team to ensure campaigns are in line with brand standards and integrated seamlessly with supporter retention.
- Work closely with the Individual Giving team to constantly refine the newly introduced ‘welcome programme’ aimed at transitioning new donors to retained donors and improving retention rate.
- To work closely with the Senior Database Manager and agency partners to review direct marketing acquisition campaigns and ensure that information is used to maximise income for future campaigns.
- Collaborate with the Senior Database Manager to develop and implement essential Power BI dashboards. Proactively request ad-hoc data analysis to track key acquisition metrics and inform strategic decision-making.
- Introduce new acquisition channels and develop existing ones within KPIs to manage risk and keep fundraising up-to-date within evolving channels.
- To ensure that campaigns are where possible integrated or co-ordinated thematically, creatively and/or by target audience to maximise impact.
- To lead in the training of external agencies, effectively communicating the work of Operation Smile to key representatives.
- Travel to meetings in the UK and overseas where necessary.

This exciting Events Fundraising Executive role is responsible for supporting the delivery of the Whizz Kidz third-party events portfolio, including the London Marathon where we have over 500 runners this year.
You will project manage our events from set up and planning, to recruiting and stewarding supporters whilst maintaining an excellent level of supporter care. It is an exciting time to join Whizz Kidz following a recent rebrand and growth in the team, you will be able to make a real difference to young wheelchair users.
You will be an enthusiastic and driven professional, with project management, administration and data skills, with experience in customer care and events.
Key accountabilities
• Being the first point of contact for enquiries from event participants
• Able to build and develop relationships with event participants
• Responsible for general administrative duties such as coding income, thanking supporters and managing and maintaining accurate records on Raiser’s Edge
• Support on event days with logistics and set up
• Support with volunteer recruitment for the London Marathon.
You will have a strong eye for detail, great organisational skills and a pro-active approach to work. You will understand the importance of delivering exceptional supporter care and stewardship journeys to raise value funds.
You will also need:
• Knowledge of events fundraising (preferably third party) and fundraising practices
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills -with the ability to authentically communicate to support fundraisers, convey the work of the Whizz Kidz and show impact of support
• Ability to build and develop strong relationships, internally and externally, to be able to maximise opportunities
• Ability to manage deadlines and effectively balance a varied and ever-changing workload whilst maintaining excellent attention to detail
• Use initiative to drive things forward, solve problem and seek opportunities to grow income and brand awareness
• Basic understanding of fundraising compliance and law.
Your experience will include:
• Experience of event fundraising within the charity sector
• Experience of delivering excellent supporter care and stewardship to maximise opportunities and promote brand loyalty
• Experience of using and maintaining a database
• Demonstrable track record of building strong relationship management with multiple fundraisers, with different motivations, value and support needs.

Annual leave
