What the job involves
This is an exciting new role within our Integrated Marketing and Media department, managing a talented Media and PR team, creating impactful moments that inspire action and drive change for men.
You’ll be responsible for developing our media and PR approach, ensuring prioritisation to deliver our Communications strategy and campaign objectives. You’ll contribute to future planning, crisis planning, and measuring impact by tracking and evaluating our PR results.
You’ll work with our paid media agency to maximise our media partnerships, ensuring all our work delivers for men. You’ll work alongside our creative content team to help men affected by prostate cancer share their stories and build strong relationships with our spokespeople and key stakeholders.

Role purpose
As Digital and Social Media Manager, you will be using digital communication channels to support the engagement of our community of supporters, partners, patients, families and staff in the work of the charity and helping realise our shared ambition with the Trust to be national leaders in the delivery of patient care and health innovation.
The Digital and Social Media Manager is part of a collaborative and creative team responsible for the development and delivery of the CW+ Communications and Marketing strategy, including on- and offline communications, PR and media, donor stewardship and marketing collateral, and events support.
Reporting to the Head of Communications and Marketing, the Digital and Social Media Manager will be proactive in shaping and managing the charity’s digital presence (including the website), with a strong focus on tracking and using data. They will inform the direction of multiple exciting strands of work by providing insight into digital trends and performance.

- Maximising the impact of the charity’s new website (launched September 2024) and ensuring that tracking and conversion metrics are optimised.

Key responsibilities and duties
- Working with the Head of Communications and Marketing to ensure effective, data-driven use of CW+ digital channels (website and social media) in support of marketing, communications and fundraising plans.
- Working with the Head of Communications and Marketing to develop the annual social media plan.
- Working closely with the Public Fundraising Manager to ensure that the charity’s fundraising activities are being effectively supported and promoted across all channels.

Our digital services provide support and information to thousands of people living with multiple sclerosis (MS). You’ll be joining us at an exciting stage of our digital programme as we transform the way we engage with people affected by MS.
You’ll play a pivotal role in driving evolution and improvement. This will include working with our existing products including our forum, webchat, symptom management tools and logged-in area of our website.
But you’ll also be leading efforts to conceptualise, design, build and implement new digital products that cater to the ever-evolving needs of our community.
We’re looking for the successful candidate to have proven experience in areas such as:
• Using a clearly defined digital project management methodology.
• Developing and executing product strategies and roadmaps.
• Overseeing the product development lifecycle.
• Maintaining the highest quality, compliance and accessibility standards.

About the role
We’re looking for a case study officer to join our talented and ambitious press, PR and celebrity team.
The successful candidate will support all elements of the charity’s case study function including recruiting and engaging new individuals with the charity who are willing to share their personal experiences of breast cancer to support our work and managing and nurturing key relationships day-to-day so they have the best possible experience when supporting the charity.
A key element of the role will be supporting colleagues in the press, PR and celebrity team to identify and seize opportunities for case studies to share their experiences to raise awareness of breast cancer, Breast Cancer Now and how we’re here for anyone affected by this devastating disease.
You’ll will work with teams across the organisation to support them in sharing the voices of people affected by breast cancer through their work. About you
You’ll have a good understanding of issues impacting people affected by breast cancer. With this you’ll have an awareness of, sensitivity to and ability to adapt to their changing needs and circumstances and how this might impact their ability or wish to support the charity’s work.
When engaging individuals with sharing their story to support us, you’ll approach this work with professionalism, sensitivity and care at all times, being sure to identify opportunities bring about mutual benefit for both parties.
Handling sensitive information appropriately at all times is key to this role, and requires you to have a knowledge of GDPR regulations and a commitment to[VS3] following Breast Cancer Now’s compliance and confidentiality regulations. You’ll also be proficient in using CRM tools to store and record interactions and sensitive data relating to supporters.

Your role
We’re looking for an experienced social media professional who has the expertise to lead the delivery of the RNLI’s social media strategy and approaches across both paid and organic, advising and supporting a wide range of stakeholders at all levels of an organisation in order to help save lives at sea.

Budget management and paid activity: you will lead on our organic paid strategy, working closely with our Digital Marketing Manager, and liaise with external agency on a weekly basis to review and refine our approach. Regional strategy: you will lead on our regional social media strategy reflecting our aim to become a place-based organisation, working with key stakeholders across the nations, to ensure our local presence is engaging, vibrant and complements our national activity.
Key Criteria:
An experienced social media expert to bring insight, passion, and talent to the organisation and team.
Experience of social-first content development, across Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tik Tok, Linkedin and Youtube.

■ Leading researcher development through effective line management of senior and principal researchers and supporting the development of early careers researchers through project work and L&D sessions.
■ Strong capabilities in risk management and mitigation, identifying emergent issues and able to intervene early and effectively to control these;
■ Play a leading role in the development of the IES policy research programme, encouraging a culture of leadership and support across our team;
■ Lead continuous improvement activity, engaging staff to realise improvements in their own and the institute’s practice;
■ Be committed to equity, diversity and inclusion, encouraging all staff at IES to achieve their best;
■ Other duties as required by institute directors.
What we are looking for
The successful candidate will have leadership potential, be a highly skilled, credible researcher, known for subject expertise related to employment matters. They will have a strong understanding of high quality and robust programme delivery to time and budget and be able to mentor and coach others to achieve the same. In addition, successful candidates will possess the following:
■ Capability to co-lead and co-deliver a multi-million pound programme of research related to public policy research.
■ Commercial awareness and business acumen, with understanding of working styles within a small, charitable business.
■ Proven track record of generating substantial portfolio of income, to build work portfolio for self and others.
■ Experience in effectively managing and developing people for high performance and a focus on professional growth for self and others.
■ Exceptional self-organisational and presentational skills, with the ability to lead a programme of work, direct projects and support teams to work well with clients.
■ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent a range of employment topics and convey complex concepts and findings accessibly to a variety of different audiences, including policymakers, the media and the wider public.
■ The skills and expertise to develop new income, and/or to lead high quality bids, with aspects of innovation within commissioned briefs to ensure IES is a preferred supplier.
■ A track record of research related to a detailed understanding of UK employment and social policy.
■ Demonstrable research capability, and understanding of methods and implications for reliability of findings.
■ Excellent academic qualifications in social sciences or related field or evidence of equivalent experience.
Working at IES
We support flexible working and will consider applications from candidates seeking to work flexibly or part-time. The post will be based in our office in central Brighton, although we work in a hybrid way. We would expect the postholder to be prepared to travel to Brighton or London for group meetings on occasion.
Salary: will be within a range of £70,000-£72,000 (full time equivalent) based on skills and experience.
