The Vacancy
The Programme Development Manager is committed to supporting colleagues and partners in programme design and development. The team also connects programmatic issues and global policy and advocacy to ensure they are complementary and conducive to external change based on evidence from the ground.
Saferworld’s income is secured primarily from statutory and institutional donors; however, securing funding to support our partners in conflict-affected countries and allow for more flexible programming increasingly requires a more diverse funding base. The Programme Development Manager will support efforts to identify and secure funds from statutory donors, trusts and foundations, and other non-traditional funding mechanisms.
The Programme Development Manager will support a portfolio of Saferworld’s teams in designing and mobilising funding for peace, security and justice programmes. The successful applicant will have a focus of approximately 4 countries, which will be decided based on the candidate’s experience and preference. Working closely with Country Managers/Directors, and programme and grant management colleagues, the post-holder will lead on: coordinating and facilitating programme development processes (including taking the lead in drafting high quality concept notes and proposals, theories of change, logical models, risk matrixes and budgets); developing and supporting the implementation of long-term country funding strategies and donor engagement strategies; and supporting new donor engagement and sustaining relationships with current donors. The post-holder will be responsible for growing institutional funding portfolios in our programmes.
The post-holder will have a successful track record in developing programmes and leading new business development efforts with institutional donors such as the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), United States Government (USG)/United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the European Union (EU), UN agencies and European Governments such as Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). Additional experience in mobilising resource from trusts and foundations and other non-traditional funding mechanisms is desirable.
They will have proven skills and experience in programme management and support, successful programme design processes and bid leadership.

About the role
We are looking for an ambitious and passionate Fundraising Manager to lead and develop our fundraising activities. This exciting new role is strategically important to our future development and delivery of services for unpaid carers across Surrey.
Reporting directly to the CEO you will increase income and diversify funding for Action for Carers, developing a fundraising strategy and establishing a new function within the organisation. You will work closely with colleagues to:
- Raise funds through grants, foundations, trusts, activities and donations
- Increase awareness of Action for Carers as a great cause to support
- Nurture and establish new corporate partnerships and strategic community partnerships
As a member of our senior team, you will be involved in organisational leadership and development, and influence the future structure of the fundraising function as it grows and develops.
The role is based at our offices in Burpham, Guildford and the postholder will be required to travel to attend meetings and engagements to support our work. There is ample free car parking on site. There is the potential for some home-working as part of this role but with the majority of time in the office or working externally with stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
Full duties are included in the job outline; key responsibilities include:
- Lead bid applications with the support of the Finance Manager and external agency support, where appropriate
- Build relationships with key providers of Trusts, Grants, and Foundations in Surrey and nationally, as applicable
- Develop and implement a partnership engagement strategy that raises the profile of Action for Carers with local businesses, community groups, education providers, and other stakeholders
- Identify, cultivate, and build relationships with corporate partners and strategic community groups
- Manage engagement opportunities with local communities, groups, and associations
- Promote and facilitate the giving of individual donations, as well as manage opportunities for fundraising events
- Represent and organise representation for the charity at corporate events, networking events, conferences and community forums
About you
You must have:
- Proven experience in fundraising, including developing a fundraising or business development function
- Demonstrated success in leading funding bids to grant-making trusts and foundations, with evidence of achieving ambitious income targets
- Experience in establishing and managing external partnerships
- A track record of engaging local communities to increase awareness, participation, and support
- Excellent written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to craft compelling and persuasive funding documents and inspire people to support the organisation
- Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to cultivate partnerships and maintain effective communication with diverse stakeholders

Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing support across the region. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing a regional plan based on the needs of people affected by MND.
- Managing a regional budget of approximately £750k, including MND Care Centre/Network grants.
- Evaluating and reporting on the impact of regional activities to ensure meaningful outcomes.
- Leading and managing a multidisciplinary team through effective matrix management.
- Acting as the Designated Safeguarding Manager (DSM) for the region, ensuring compliance and addressing risks.

We have a unique opportunity for a Local Engagement Officer to join the Foodbank Team as part of our organising and local mobilisation strategy. This role will create real impact in Waterloo by identifying local issues driving poverty, and developing a strategy to build influence and win change.

You’ll need to be an effective communicator and ready to tackle big issues with drive and initiative. Waterloo Foodbank (a part of the Lambeth Foodbanks Partnership) provides emergency food support to individuals and families in our community who are struggling with the cost-of-living and acute financial crises. This role will support our strategic anti-poverty work as part of our vision to end the need for foodbanks in Waterloo.
Key responsibilities of this role will be:
· To explore and understand the experiences that are bringing people to need the foodbank’s support, working with a variety of local stakeholders including foodbank clients
· To develop and manage a team of volunteers with the aim of identifying a local issue and campaigning for change
· To develop strategic relationships with key partners of Waterloo Foodbank
· To feed into our wider strategic work including our 3-year participation targets and strategic communications
· To work and engage with the Trussell Trust’s Organising and Local Mobilisation team, and their central campaign activities
· To represent the vision, mission, and values of Waterloo Foodbank and of Oasis Hub Waterloo
The successful post holder must have:
· Good standard of basic education, including English and Maths Level 2
· Experience facilitating groups and organising engaging group activities
· Experience managing and working with volunteers
· Good project management skills, able to balance a range of priorities.

This is an exciting job opportunity to join a dynamic and committed team in a front-line role to support and deliver the activities and services of elop’s LGBTQ+ Children & Young People’s Service.This role offers great opportunity to work innovatively and responsively to support the genuine needs of LGBTQ+ young people.
In this role you will have opportunity to design and deliver innovative youth group support programmes (12-15, 15-18 & 18-25 year olds) & other activities; provide LGBTQ+ affirmative support, guidance and mentoring on a one-to-one basis; work with our wider family work programme, support families with LGBTQ+ children and deliver work in schools to students & teaching staff. You will support the delivery of the youth reference group of young LGBTQ+ people (to support service evaluation and development) and support volunteer mentors.
You will be responsible for the direct delivery of elop’s LGBTQ+ Young Peoples Service, including promotion, & administration, along with the induction, support & supervision of volunteers and interns. You will work alongside the wider staff team to support elop’s work with LGBTQ+ young people and contribute to sustainable service development.
The delivery of group support and activities will take place in person, but some work will initially be remote before returning to full time in person working.
Full Time: 37 hours per week
There will be two regular evening/ week and occasional weekend working required.
You must be available to work Tuesday and Thursday evenings & once a month on a Sunday afternoon. There will be occasional other evenings / weekend working required.
