We also run an expanding network of foodbank sessions, which provide not just emergency food parcels but also wraparound services such as budgeting advice, energy support, and signposting to other agencies. Our community cafés offer warm spaces where people can access affordable meals, social connections, and guidance in a welcoming and non-judgmental environment. Beyond food provision, we are committed to early intervention, working to address the root causes of poverty through advocacy, training, and targeted support services.

As we build on this strong foundation, we are seeking a CEO who can skilfully balance strategic leadership with hands-on operational management, fostering collaboration across all areas of the charity. This role is about more than just overseeing services, it’s about driving innovation, securing long-term sustainability, and ensuring that our programmes continue to evolve in response to the changing needs of our community. With increasing demand for our services and the need to diversify funding streams, we want to grow to deliver more impact for our community. The incoming CEO will play a pivotal role in making this vision a reality, shaping the future of Horsham Matters and strengthening our ability to provide life-changing support to those who need it most.

The Foundation for International Law for the Environment (FILE) was set up in 2018 to be the major philanthropic re-granter scaling up legal action globally to tackle the climate and biodiversity crises.

We work as movement enablers, campaign strategists, and impact funders, using the law in pursuit of three interconnected system-level goals:

• Reducing net greenhouse gas emissions to protect the climate
• Safeguarding nature
• Delivering climate and environmental justice

We pursue these goals not just by supporting legal action directly. We believe in growing the strength of the climate and biodiversity legal movement globally, and in enabling people and movements to use legal action to shift narratives.

As movement enablers, campaign strategists, and impact funders, we at FILE do not ourselves bring litigation. As a regrantor, FILE is not an endowed foundation, but rather we engage in fundraising to secure resources to support our partners globally.

The Role

The Head of Finance plays a pivotal role co-leading the Finance Team at FILE, ensuring strong financial resilience, investment and foreign exchange strategy, global finance policies, financial compliance, and internal financial controls. The role involves leading the finance operations, systems, and processes globally while providing strategic financial insights to key stakeholders to support decision-making. 

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Resilience (25%) 

• Lead the Global Accounting Team, setting the vision, annual team planning, and objectives.

• Ensure key stakeholders across the Board, Senior Leadership Team, Partnerships Team and across FILE receive high value business partner support on financial resilience, reserves, cashflow, investments and foreign exchange to enable strategic decision-making, in addition to support with individual donor proposals 

• Develop and maintain best practice cashflow forecasting, foreign exchange management, and investment strategies to support financial resilience.

• Ensure global finance policies are robust and align with FILE’s strategic ambitions and regulatory requirements. 

Financial Compliance & Control (25%) 

• Ensure robust finance policies support a strong control environment

• Drive a prompt monthly close process across all entities in the FILE network, including full Balance Sheet reconciliations and moving towards automated reporting

• Ensure financial systems have strong controls and data structures in place, collaborating with FP&A team. 

• Manage the Financial Controller, including overseeing banking, payroll, expenses purchase ledger, statutory financial statements, audit and tax compliance, and work with the Financial Controller to ensure high-quality support from external outsourced providers  

Team Leadership & Development (25%) 

• Foster a culture of collaboration, trust, and empowerment within the Global Accounting Team.

• Set clear objectives and development plans for team members, ensuring continuous growth and performance improvement.

• Provide training and induction materials to wider team to enhance financial literacy across FILE.

Systems & Process Optimisation (25%) 

• Oversee finance systems and operations, driving automation and smart data utilisation to improve processes.

• Collaborate with IT and finance teams to ensure systems align with business needs.

• Ensure global processes are standardised and efficient. 

• Lead process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. 

• Create robust accounting, compliance environment, and processes that support the delivery of FILE’s strategic objectives and value for money while assets are safeguarded.

 Travel and working hours  

• You will be expected to travel periodically, especially to either the UK or the Netherlands, depending on your location. 

• You will also be expected to provide some flexibility around availability as part of a team spread across multiple time zones, which will involve some meetings outside of standard working hours. This could mean early hours or late evenings at least once a week.

Essential Criteria 

• Understanding of UK or Netherlands tax compliance for non-profits, particularly payroll taxes, corporation tax, and VAT.
• Experience in complex financial accounting

• Experience in strategic financial management

• Experience with multiple finance systems

• Knowledge of international financial reporting standards (IFRS) and UK GAAP or DASB

• Proficiency in financial modelling using Excel and financial planning tools

• Expertise in multi-jurisdictional tax compliance, including transfer pricing regulations.

• Familiarity with data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar.

• Experience in managing global cash flow, working capital, and investment portfolios.

• Experience with audit, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.

• Experience with donor compliance reporting requirements in the non-profit sector

The Exams Quality and Project Administrator will be a proactive and adaptable professional, with project work dictated by project priorities you will enjoy a varied role. You will be a skilled communicator, able to work collaboratively with colleagues and examiners. To provide essential business support you will have excellent administrative and organisational skills and the ability to plan and prioritise a varied workload, as well as a confident approach to developing expertise in use of the RCRs exam platforms.

What you’ll do: 

• Coordinate and prepare materials for project board meetings and related events, including examiner training, and working groups related to project work.

• Collate exam content from examiners and check to ensure they adhere to the format and standards.

The Leveson Centre provides a friendly, welcoming, “home-from-home” environment for cancer patients, friends and family to access holistic support services or pop in for a cuppa and a chat, away from a clinical environment. Named after one of the founders of the Charity, Steve Leveson, the Centre offers a range of services to help cancer patients and their loved ones, including a weekly coffee morning, a well-being choir, complementary therapy sessions, Pilates and Yoga classes, benefits and welfare support from a Citizens Advice Advisor and support from a Chartered Clinical Psychologist for young people with family members going through cancer.

We are looking for someone to support the day-to-day running of the Centre. Working closely with the Managers of the Centre, you will ensure Centre services are delivered to a high standard, providing administrative support, supporting and signposting cancer patients who attend the Centre, and supporting and inspiring a team of Centre volunteers. You will also support the work of York Against Cancer, attending charity events and raising awareness of the Centre and its services.

As Assistant at The Leveson Centre, you will play a vital role in ensuring the Centre can continue to offer meaningful services to people whose lives are touched by cancer.

Main Responsibilities:

· Work closely with the Centre Managers to manage the day-to-day operation of the Centre, ensuring high standards are always adhered to in all areas

Social Media (approx. two thirds of role): 

• Social media content: Working closely across the team, develop a calendar of social media content in line with the social media strategy, that meets a wide range of objectives and goals and considers different audience needs.
• Content creation: Create compelling visual and written content for different social media channels in line with the plan, including short and longer form videos (e.g. family stories), graphics and so on.
• Content sourcing: Plan, source and collect the content needed for social media. 
• Content management: Manage the content bank and photo library, making sure assets are kept up to date, tagged and searchable.
• Channel growth and engagement: Lead on growing follower numbers and engagement levels for our social media accounts in line with the social media strategy.

As Community Social Action Officer you will work within our delivery areas to support develop, facilitate a vibrant, dynamic and connected voluntary and community sector in Ealing, overseeing the delivery of a range of community activities working closely with stakeholders in Acton including residents, voluntary and community organisations and local businesses.

Role Summary

The Programme Coordinator is a key point of contact for the Into Film Programme in the north of England and delivers Into Film’s programmes and projects face to face and online with a bespoke approach for the region. This requires detailed knowledge and understanding of the education and screen industry landscape in the north of England.

Main Responsibilities:

• Deliver all elements of the Into Film programme in the north of England including but not limited to CPD/training for teachers at all career stages, careers events, conferences, round tables, Teachmeet style gatherings and teacher panels, online and face to face.
• Develop, sustain and be the local point of contact for schools, partners, individuals and organisations that add value or are users of the Into Film programme, including a focus on EEDI and how Into Film can specifically, positively reach and include those who are underserved and underrepresented. 
• Feed into and deliver the plans in the area across the programme including Teaching with Film, Careers and Progression, and Young Creatives (plus the Into Film Festival, the Into Film Awards and additionally funded programmes, as needed).
• Work with all departments at Into Film to ensure a joined-up approach and delivery of set outcomes and KPIs whilst adhering to budgets and deadlines.
• Ensure reach across the north of England, feeding into UK-wide work and awareness of Into Film Programmes, responding where possible to local needs.
• Activate and deliver the programme across the north of England including feeding relevant regional content into email campaigns and co-manage the regional social media account. 
• Support the recruitment and delivery of the Youth Advisory Council and Education Ambassador schemes in the area, working with young people and teachers across the region to support the development of the Into Film programme.
• Manage local partnerships and relationships with individuals and organisations. 
• Utilise the Salesforce CRM to input and analyse data, create dashboards and reports.

We are looking for an individual who is ready to join us to tackle extreme poverty head-on and oversee the work the charity does in the UK and around the world. This work is vital at a time when conflict, food insecurity and the climate crisis is affecting millions of people.

A charity trustee plays a vital role in the governance and leadership of the charity, ensuring that it operates effectively, ethically, and in accordance with its mission, values and legal obligations.

This individual will also serve as an independent and objective member of the Audit and Finance Committee, contributing expertise and skills to help the Board of Trustees discharge its responsibility for effective scrutiny and oversight of the charity. The AFC Trustee is responsible for overseeing the organisation’s financial integrity, internal controls, risk management and compliance processes.

Condition of Appointment

Tenure: Each Trustee may serve a maximum period of nine years.

Location: Four board meetings are held each year – at least two are virtual and two are planned as face-to-face, although being conscious of our carbon footprint, there will be an opportunity to join remotely. There is an annual away day which would be in a central London location.

Time Commitment:

Board meetings - held four times per year and lasting approximately two hours. These are usually scheduled on weekday evenings.
