The Job (in a Nutshell)

To lead and deliver the Adventure Schools Programme, ensuring it meets the high standards of the Outward-Bound ethos. The Adventure Schools Manager will oversee programme delivery, manage and support the team (that will initially consist of one instructor and a part time administrator), coordinate with schools and stakeholders to ensure the programme is a success. During the summer months you may have the opportunity to take unpaid leave or be deployed to one of our centres in the North-West.

You will play a pivotal role in delivering Outward Bound’s mission to bring micro-adventures and transformational experiences into school grounds across the Northwest of England. Initially, the role will be a mixture of delivery in schools and operational management. We need the team to have a good balance of energy and enthusiasm ready to inspire young people to develop, and with a focus on delivering clear course outcomes.

You will also have the unique opportunity to help shape the Adventure School Programme, it’s delivery and content; Including supporting recruitment and programme design, ensuring it meets the needs of schools and aligns with Outward Bound’s values.

 Who we are looking for

Somone with energy and enthusiasm and who is a results-driven team player with a strong understanding of the education sector. A passion for outdoor education with at least one year experience in a management role, or you have led a project or been in a comparable position. Experience of, or an aptitude to managing financial budgets, alongside being organised and a great communicator. We need the successful candidate to be passionate about outdoor learning and development in schools and working with young people. You must embody our values and are committed to working collaboratively to deliver meaningful and impactful experiences.

Areas of Responsibility

· Programme Delivery: Deliver high-quality 1-day, 3-day, and 5-day adventure programmes on school grounds.

· Facilitate engaging activities that promote resilience, leadership, and teamwork.

· Oversee programme logistics, scheduling, financial budgets and delivery targets.

· Support and manage one instructor and part-time administrator to ensure smooth operations.

· Monitor and evaluate programme outcomes, preparing reports on impact and financial performance with support from the wider Outward-Bound Team.

· Stakeholder Engagement: Develop strong relationships with schools, ensuring clear communication and understanding of their needs. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including Education account managers, donors and community partners as part of the wider team.

· Innovation: Incorporate AR/VR experiences into programme delivery to enhance engagement.

· Provide feedback to ensure continuous improvement of content and delivery models.

· Collaborate and share best practice with heads of centres and peers, ensuring the Education team is fully integrated.

· Customer visits at school locations and centre visits for wider Outward Bound meetings.

· Enhanced DBS check is essential.

·      You may sometimes be required to undertake additional tasks as requested by your line manager

Salary and benefits

Salary: £30,000 - £38,500 per year. Starting salary is dependent on experience.

At CPI, we believe that our people are at the heart of our success. We are seeking a Senior Associate to join our Finance and Operations team who will play an important role in supporting our Finance function across our regions. Key responsibilities for this role include:

• Assist Finance Manager with processing accounts receivable (AR): record entries, supervise authorization process in accordance with internal procedures, monitor AR ageing reports, process and pay vendors.

• Process credit card (Airwallex) expenses, ensuring items are correctly coded and authorized.

• Process staff expenses, ensuring items are correctly coded and authorized.

• Assist Finance Manager with processing sales invoices for customers. Record expenses from coaches/partners, ensure accurate authorization and process payments.

• During the month end process, assist the Finance Manager to ensure that all balance sheet items are reconciled and suspense/clearance accounts are cleared.

• Assist with preparing monthly management reports and reviewing performance against budgets.

• Work with our regional teams to agree supplier contracts and set up suppliers in our financial systems; ensure our internal financial policies & procedures are followed, including performing supplier verifications.

• Assist Finance Manager with annual audit preparation.

• Communicate with Finance and Non-Finance colleagues to obtain all information required by Finance and to explain our accounting processes

• Act as backup for Finance teams in other regions to support workstreams and provide assistance during busy periods.

Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled Philanthropy Manager with demonstrated experience, preferably within the charity sector or comparable commercial environment. The role will involve primarily working from home and must be situated in or near London to attend regular in person meetings with key staff.

Key responsibilities

Maintain a portfolio of 50 – 70 major donors and prospects by creating and implementing strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors with the capacity to make 5 and low 6-figure annual gifts (bigger gifts would fall to the Vice President, International Development and UK Fundraising Director)
Conduct 75 to 100 meetings with donors and prospects annually through one-on-one meetings, site visits, and other types of meaningful contact.
Provide recommendations and assist in executing effective strategies to practice moves management and increase fundraising results.
Write and create customised proposals and presentations for major donors.
In coordination with the UK Fundraising Director, assist with developing projects that will enhance the major giving operations of the Development Department and support them by developing strategy briefs and leading preparation meetings.
Help produce cultivation and stewardship programs for prospects and major donors.
Organise at least two major donor events each year.
Organising research on major donors as well as conducting supplemental research.
Ensure all key administrative tasks for the philanthropy programme are taken care of.
Other duties as are appropriate for this role.

Travel

There is limited but regular travel into London for regular team meetings as well as travel as needed around the UK for meetings with major donors.

Required Education and Experience

5+ years of relevant experience with exposure to major gift donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship processes preferred.
A proven history of generating income in the £100,000’s and securing gifts of £25,000 or more.
Demonstrated success in developing substantive donor relationships and in supporting senior management, program staff, to execute donor and engagement strategies.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with both management and donors.
Extremely detail-oriented with strong organisational and time management skills.
Able to take ownership of a process and to use problem solving skills to resolve issues.
Able to make sound decisions based on analysis, experience and judgment.
Able to function both independently and as part of a global team.
Familiar with the MS Office and donor management systems. Knowledge of Salesforce preferred.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, although an equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for this required level of education.

The Charity team is responsible for raising millions of pounds each year to ensure Christie patients receive gold standard care and treatment. About the Role

Humanists International has another separate entity based in the US. This role will be a part of the UK operations team but will collaborate with the US finance team occasionally when it’s required, for example, during the audit period. Both UK and US finance teams are managed by the same Director of Finance and Operations who is based in London. 

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can provide excellent finance and administrative support to the small, predominantly home-based team. We’re seeking someone who is personable, highly organised, has attention to detail and is keen to take initiative and learn new skills. Onboarding training will be provided, but we would like you to demonstrate transferable skills. 

You will work on a wide variety of tasks which will include bookkeeping and bank reconciliations, being the first point of contact for the organisation, as well as providing general administrative support to the team. You will be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively across a diverse international team.

This is a full-time or part-time with a minimum of 4 days/week (0.8 FTE), permanent position, which is predominantly home-based but does require the attendance of in-person events such as the General Assembly and Team Building. You will also be expected to attend a number of board-level meetings held on weekends to take meeting minutes - further details are listed in the Key Responsibilities section.

Key Responsibilities

• Taking charge of the day-to-day financial activities and office administration of the organisation.

• Ensuring high-accuracy bookkeeping and bank reconciliation are completed to deadlines. 

• Ensuring adequate financial documents are filed on Drive to comply with the audit requirements.

• Preparing invoices and receipts to stakeholders as required.

• Generating month-end Budget vs. Actual Report from accounting software on time, for the Director of Finance and Operations to review. 

• Preparing financial data for quarterly Finance Report in tables for the Director of Finance and Operations to conduct quarterly financial analysis.

• Assisting the Director of Finance and Operations with the preparation of financial data, tables and files for the annual budgeting and UK audit.

• Reviewing and processing expense claims. And ensuring the Expenses Policy is being followed. 

• Preparing and attaching expense receipts to the CEO’s monthly credit card statements.

• Being the first point of contact of the organisation. Managing office inbox, answering office calls and sorting out the letters.

• Attending online board meetings (four times a year on Saturdays) and investment committee meetings (twice a year on weekdays between 5-7pm) to take meeting minutes. Board meetings normally take 3 hours and investment committee meetings take 45 minutes. These meetings are usually planned 6-8 months in advance.  TOILs will be provided when the meeting is held outside your normal working hours.

• Assisting the CEO with board papers and circulating them to board members before board meetings.

• Arranging flights and accommodations for the CEO and board members to attend in-person meetings when required.

• Arranging meetings for the CEO when required.

• Assisting staff and board members with queries on finance or administrative matters.

• Any other appropriate duties.

Essential Skills

• Accounting, finance, or economics qualification.

• A minimum of two years’ experience in bookkeeping and administration roles. 

• Experience using financial software. e.g. Quickbooks, Xero, Sage or equivalent.

• Understanding of the chart of accounts structure, cash/accrual accounting basis.

• Understanding of the expense claim process.

• Experience preparing the budget. (Not necessarily the whole organisation’s budget, but specific section(s), for example, travel costs and fixed-costs related budget lines would be essential.)

• Excellent organisation, time management and multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritise and plan a busy workload. 

• Self-motivated and able to meet all deadlines.

• Supportive, collaborative and able to build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
