The role
Our key priorities at FareShare UK are to grow the food volumes accessible to the charities and community groups we support across the UK. Food partners (manufacturers, retailers, wholesalers, importers, packers, catering providers, producers and others) are pivotal in helping us to meet these priorities, providing access to food and many other strategic resources. This crucial role will focus on working with our top food partners to maximise the mutual value in the relationship through strategic and structured account management. Our ability to meet growing demand and retain our leading position in the food redistribution landscape will be heavily influenced by the success you have in this role.
You will be the direct account lead for some of the biggest food accounts in the UK and you will lead part of the Food Partnership Team for managing and engaging new business relationships to drive and grow food and funding from top food partners.
As part of this role, you will lead the transition to a tiered and structured strategic account management approach of all top partners. Coordinating colleagues in the food team and other FareShare teams: FareShare Go, Marketing, Fundraising, Network Operations and Volunteering teams to ensure that top partners get an excellent service. You will work with the top food partners and other stakeholders to ensure appropriate identification of activities, and monitoring of progress, benefits and evaluation.
You will help identify and overcome the barriers to food redistribution and increase the volumes of foods available to FareShare from food partners and their wider supply chains.
Working with marketing and relevant teams you will develop sales materials to open opportunities for more food and other resources from top partners.
You will lead new business development for FareShare Go and work closely with the FareShare Go operations team to mutually agreed objectives. You will support the team to develop new opportunities to deliver the FareShare Go service to food partners including meeting tenders and developing compelling propositions for partners.
Main areas of responsibility
Business Development and Relationship Management
- Support the senior Leadership team by implementing and driving FareShare’s strategy to deliver the services that our top food partners want now and in the future.
- Develop sales and tender materials to win new and grow current business for increased food, funds and other strategic resource.
- Keep up to date on trends and key areas of opportunity for top accounts.
- Directly account manage the largest opportunity accounts that we want to engage or grow.
- Develop strategic relationships and account strategies with top food partners to maximise the volumes of surplus food and funding to FareShare through structured joint business planning process.
- Embed a strategic approach to account management and joint business planning processes for top partners to make sure that they have a structured first in class service from FareShare.
- Ensure oversight of all account activities and provides regular updates to, and feedback opportunities for relevant FareShare stakeholder teams including FareShare Go operations, Food Co-ordination, marketing and fundraising.

ABOUT THE EUROPEAN LEGAL SUPPORT CENTRE
ELSC is an initiative of the Palestinian NGO Network, comprising 200 Palestinian civil society organisations, developed in response to the widespread repression in Europe of advocacy for Palestinian rights. Founded in January 2019, we provide free legal advice and assistance to individuals who face unjust smears, disciplinary investigations, criminal sanctions and other repressive measures aimed at shrinking the space for Palestinian rights advocacy in mainland Europe and Britain. We are “movement lawyers”. In every case we take on, we are accountable not only to the individual client but also to our civil society partners in Britain; and we work hand in hand with local stakeholders in the movement, from trade unions to civil liberties groups. ABOUT THE ROLE
The Associate Solicitor will lead our legal team in Britain and oversee our cases in England and Wales.
The role requires a qualified solicitor with experience of running litigious cases. Our main practice areas in Britain are: (i) public law and human rights; (ii) employment and discrimination and (iii) defamation law. The post-holder will have particular expertise in one of these areas. Our cases also involve data rights, freedom of information, criminal law, actions against the police, charity law, education law, international humanitarian law, and immigration issues.
The post holder will manage a growing team that consists of a Legal Officer and a Junior Legal Officer. In addition, our British work team has an advocacy and communication officer and two researchers who monitor anti-Palestinian racism.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee all litigious and advisory casework in Britain alongside our junior legal staff and legal network. Provide expert legal advice and representation, to individual clients and movement partners.

Manage our legal officers, providing training and feedback to them as appropriate. Collaborate closely with our legal network of solicitors and counsel with the goal of strengthening the wider movement.

Develop and advance new legal strategies for challenging state and non-state repression of advocacy for Palestine in consultation with our legal network, national partners and experts.

Support the development of effective advocacy campaigns to increase the impact of litigation outside the courtroom.

Support ELSC’s outreach and public engagement initiatives.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Required experience, knowledge and skills
-
3 years + post-qualified experience (PQE) and admitted to practise as a solicitor in England and Wales.

Experience leading on a variety of contentious and non-contentious matters, particularly in public, employment and/or defamation law.

Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise legal advice on complex issues in a comprehensible and appropriate format.

An ability to engage with the law critically and develop strategies that serve broader political objectives. Track record of collaborating well with other lawyers, academics and civil society organisations.

Excellent client care skills, particularly in relation to vulnerable or marginalised clients.

We know that many health conditions are overlooked and underfunded, that new health threats will continue to arise, and that there will always be a need for high-quality, high impact medical research.
Reporting to our Senior Research Manager, you will help us deliver our Research Strategy by planning, co-ordinating and delivering bespoke funding competitions in areas of high need, such as the Impact of Climate Change on Health, or Mental Health. You will also be responsible for managing awarded grants. Your main responsibilities will be to:
- Plan, co-ordinate and deliver bespoke funding competitions.
- Convene grant funding committees and prepare review guidance.
- Oversee peer review and safeguard standards: manage conflicts of interest, minute the meetings, coordinate actions and draft feedback to applicants.

Who you are

We will offer you
We will offer a salary of £45,000 to £47,000 depending on experience for a full-time 36-hour week (happy to consider part-time, min 0.8 FTE) and double-matched pension contributions up to 10% max employer contribution. The successful candidate will have:
- Part-qualified with a CCAB qualification or evidence of equivalent experience in a similar role.
- Experience of working in a management accounting, finance business partnering or related financial role.
- Ideally experience working in the public sector, but this is by no means essential.
- Proven experience of working collaboratively, including working with internal and external people in positions of influence to develop and implement customer-focused business solutions.
- Ability to analyse, summarise and communicate financial data and information clearly and accurately to non-financial budget managers.

The Role

About You
A content creator and social media expert you will have experience of planning, shooting and editing footage to engage audiences across different social media platforms and of using creative design software (Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Premiere Pro - essential). With an eye for detail, you will use your project management skills to analyse the performance of social media content, refining and improving content through iteration.
You will also have experience of:
- Writing and editing copy to suit different audiences and providing updates and briefings at meetings.

Reach exists to inspire and connect potential volunteers and trustees with charities and good causes, to help address some of society’s biggest issues. And we know that great communications, branding and storytelling sit at the heart of that.
As Head of Marketing and Communications, you will be the driving force of our communications and our sole, respected, go-to communications specialist. You will have the opportunity to lead our communications strategy - keeping our chosen audience, values, message and brand positioning in mind - whilst doing the hands-on work of creating campaign materials, writing impactful content, sourcing case studies and managing the input of other creatives.
And while you’ll always wish you had more budget and time, the beauty of working in comms at Reach is that we are small and have clarity of purpose, aligned messaging between our areas of work and light-touch sign-off processes. You will have the autonomy to shape our communications strategy and to flex your creative muscles by implementing and testing it.
What Reach does
Through our bespoke online service, charities and groups find volunteers with expertise they could not otherwise access - from trustee positions to technical and creative roles. At the same time, we inspire thousands of people to volunteer their skills every year, to make change. Last year over 13,000 new volunteers signed up to Reach - more than three times the pre-pandemic rate.

Requirements:
We are looking for someone with a proven track record of working effectively with leadership teams and influencing strategic direction to deliver highly effective marketing and communications. You’ll be an effective digital marketer, with the ability to integrate strategy with day-to-day work
Just as important is *how* you work: you will be great at collaborating, prioritising, and flexing your priorities as needed. You’ll be resourceful, and relish creativity bourne from the constraints of working in a small team with big ambitions. You will share our values and work in a way that embeds them.
