Part-time (0.6 FTE)
Contract (8 month contract, with potential to extend)
Job description

GoodWork is a young and fast growing non-profit, supporting employers to offer fairer opportunities to young people from marginalised communities.

We partner with progressive businesses to bring diverse talent into entry-level roles, giving young people the opportunity to prove themselves without requiring unpaid internships or elite degrees to get ahead. Our flagship early careers programme supports 18-25 year olds from lower socioeconomic backgrounds to build their employability skills, access tailored support and transition into sustained employment aligned with their goals.

Key Info

  • Part time, 0.6 FTE. Working days and pattern negotiable.
  • 8 month Fixed Term Contract from October 2024 (start date negotiable), with potential to extend.
  • Salary: £22,800 pro rated (FTE £38,000) with 4% employer pension contribution.
  • Hybrid (London), one day a week in-person with the team at Fivefields, with the option to spend up to 10 days per month in the office.
  • 25 days holiday per year (pro rated), plus Bank Holidays and additional leave during our annual Winter Break between Christmas and New Year.
  • Appointment is subject to Enhanced DBS Check. GoodWork operates in line with safe recruitment practices and adherence to our Safeguarding Policy is essential.

About the role

We’re hiring our first Corporate Fundraising Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to join us at a key moment in our growth and shape our approach to corporate fundraising for the future. We’re aiming to generate £100,000 of corporate partnership income in the next twelve months, while laying strong foundations for growth from there.

You’ll report directly to and work closely with our CEO in expanding our network of corporate partners to increase our income, the opportunities we can offer young people and the scale of our impact.

You’ll be:

  • Leading on identifying, researching, engaging and converting new corporate prospects and relationships. We work with a range of partners, including Wild Cosmetics, PA Consulting and Newsflare.
  • Management of new business pipeline and prospect lists, including use and maintenance of corporate prospects data via Airtable.
  • Proactive networking with early careers, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Corporate Social Responsibility leaders to develop new partnerships that grow GoodWork’s impact.
  • Working with the CEO to develop our propositions, periodically refreshing our corporate offer with creative ideas, proposals and content to inspire decision makers.
  • Maintaining and strengthening relationships with existing corporate partners in order to generate sustainable income and opportunities for young people.
  • Getting involved with the delivery of our programme, to build your understanding of our mission and how we work with young people. This might involve mentoring one of our programme participants, supporting workshop delivery or interview coaching as a small part of your role, helping you stay close to the heart of what we do.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for someone with a track record of securing significant income and managing corporate relationships. There is scope for this to become a permanent, full-time position and for the successful candidate to become a key member of GoodWork’s leadership team as the organisation grows.

  • A strong track-record in corporate fundraising, with demonstrable evidence of five-figure new business income generation.
    • We will also consider candidates with proven business development experience in the private sector, with a well-articulated desire to move into the third sector and ability to rapidly build relevant knowledge and skills.
  • Drive, ambition, strategic and creative thinking, with the ability to frame propositions to deliver mutual benefits for both GoodWork and our prospective partners.
  • Tenacity and resilience, able to adapt and persist in the face of challenges and rejections.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills, with experience of managing stakeholder relationships and networking at all levels.
  • Strong organisational skills and proactivity, able to work at pace and deliver to a high standard.
  • Understanding of and alignment to our mission. You don’t need experience in the early careers, youth or education sector, however we expect the successful candidate to be able to clearly articulate their passion for our mission and desire to drive our work forwards.

We work with a diverse group of young people from marginalised communities. We particularly encourage applications from minority ethnic candidates and those who have lived experience relevant to our programme, particularly non-graduates and those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.

Ways of working

Our team works together in-person two days a week at Fivefields (Mon/Thurs) and we’d like our Corporate Fundraising Manager to join us for at least one of these days.

This contract is for 0.6 FTE (22.5 hours per week). We work flexibly, provided all our team can fulfil the requirements of their roles and collaborate effectively with colleagues. With this in mind, we’re open to requests to split these hours across three or four days of the week as best suits the successful candidate.

You’ll need to be able to attend occasional in-person events, including possible evening sessions for which time off in lieu will be given. You should also expect to attend regular in-person meetings with our London-based employer partners.

How to apply

  1. Apply via our online form by 09:00 on Monday 19 August. You’ll need to submit a CV of no more than two pages and answer the following questions in no more than 1,700 characters (about 250 words) each.
    1. Why are you a good fit for this role? Please tell us about your relevant personal and/or professional experience.
    2. Why do you want to work for GoodWork?
  2. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a one-hour online interview between 27 August and 5 September.
  3. The final stage will involve an opportunity to meet the team, task and in-person pitch at our office between 9 and 16 September. If you get to this stage, you’ll be reimbursed for your time.
  4. An offer will be made subject to referencing and satisfactory completion of an Enhanced DBS check. The successful candidate will start as soon as possible, dependent on any notice periods in their existing role.

If you have questions that are not answered here, or requests for adjustments to the application process, please contact us via email and we’ll do our best to support.
