We are seeking a Senior Nature Recovery Manager (Wilder Wight and Solent) to join our cause.
The Senior Nature Recovery Manager (Wilder Wight and Solent) is critical in shaping and delivering the vision for the area and guiding the implementation of objectives on the ground. The Isle of Wight offers much potential for delivering landscape scale restoration through trialled and innovative solutions. The Solent area includes some of the Trusts best loved nature reserves but under pressure from a range of issues requiring proactive management and engagement to facilitate nature and its recovery into the future. This is an exciting opportunity to oversee an area-based team managing some of the Trusts flagship reserves and leading on the delivery and management of the organisation’s first rewilding sites, an expanding portfolio of nature reserves and ambitious plans for species recovery.
Reporting to the Director of Nature Recovery, Wilder Wight, Solent and Seas, this role will bring operational leadership and management capacity across two highly important areas, overseeing delivery of strategic objectives and managing the conservation teams. The Isle of Wight is facing some major challenges, but the Trust is demonstrating how nature led approaches can resolve many of the local issues through ecosystem service provision. It’s an exciting time for the Island with the Trust delivering Wilder 2030 and through collaboration with partners much more is planned for nature and people by delivering land and seascape scale restoration. The Solent area hosts some of the Trusts most loved nature reserves. This area is under pressure from development, climate change and sea level rise posing some challenging scenarios for the future and the need for proactive engagement and problem solving to ensure sustainable solutions for the future.

About Lepra
Lepra is dedicated to addressing leprosy and lymphatic filariasis (LF) and their consequences through direct support, advocacy, and the promotion of inclusive communities. We work in Bangladesh and in India, through our sister organisation, LEPRA Society. Background & Context to the Consultancy
Our new Global Strategy introduces some new approaches and priorities to our work, including: our first ever global Theory of Change (ToC), the most detailed Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) approach ever, and a sub-strategy dedicated to research, innovation and technology: the Global Research, Innovation and Technology Strategy (GRITS). With the finalisation of the new strategy, and as part of our ongoing commitment to improving our impact and efficiency, we are now seeking a consultant to provide specialised research support and technical advice.
Purpose & Objectives of the Consultancy
The primary objectives of this consultancy are to lead the transitional phase of the GRITS, creating a detailed operational plan for its implementation; support the management of the existing research portfolio ensuring technical soundness, budget adherence and timely delivery; establish a sustainable pathway for research expertise to be led by in-country professionals.
Scope of Work
The consultant will be responsible for the following key areas over a six-month period:
Strategy Transition Leadership
- Lead the transitional phase of the GRITS.
- Identify and address any gaps or challenges in the current strategy.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment and smooth transition.
Operational Plan Management
- Develop a comprehensive operational plan for the rollout of the strategy.
- Establish the initial GRITS processes including the Go no Go; steering group established and functioning.
- Define clear timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
- Ensure the plan is realistic, achievable, and aligns with the charity’s objectives and resources.
Support Existing Research Profile
- Review and support ongoing research projects.
- Ensure all research activities are technically sound, within budget, and on time.
- Provide technical guidance and support to research teams.
- Provide ongoing mentoring and coaching to staff and partners.
- Ensure that data sets and tools are appropriately designed and employed.
Pathway to Sustainability
- Create a sustainability plan to ensure research expertise is transitioned to and led by in-country professionals.
- Develop capacity-building programmes for local researchers and institutions
- Establish mentorship and training frameworks to support local leadership in research.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including donors, research institutions, and community leaders.
- Facilitate collaboration and partnerships to enhance the research profile and strategy implementation.
- Ensure transparent and effective communication throughout the transition process.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Develop and implement a monitoring and evaluation framework to track progress and impact of the strategy.
- Regularly report on progress, challenges, and achievements to the Lepra’s leadership team.
- Adjust plans and strategies based on feedback and evaluation results.
Safeguarding
- Support the implementation of newly developed processes in relation to the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation & Abuse (PSEA) and Safeguarding (SG).
- Ensure safeguarding measures are integrated into all project activities.

- Comprehensive operational plan for the global research, innovation, and technology strategy.

About this exciting opportunity
Working as part of a multi-agency team, you will provide person-centred support to a caseload of service users who will either be serving community sentences or being released from prison. You will undertake assessment and action planning with individual service users, create a safe and trusting environment, using trauma-informed practice to successfully facilitate a supportive and constructive relationship with service users, plus deliver a range of interventions to service users which contribute towards achievement of prescribed outcomes.
We will also count on you to develop and maintain positive working relationships with external agencies, including probation, prisons, partners, and others who will assist in achieving prescribed outcomes for service users, ensuring you work towards contractual targets and outcomes within agreed timescales. Using agreed CRM databases and recording all activity relating to caseload and providing updates and reports are also key duties.
What we are looking for
• Experience working with partner agencies either as part of a multi-agency team working towards common objectives or negotiating to establish links to further the aims of a project
• L3 in Advice and Guidance or equivalent
• The ability to assess clients’ needs and provide tailored, client-led support through action planning and interventions involving advice, guidance, advocacy, and coaching
• An ability to work sensitively with clients applying trauma-informed strategies
• Impressive IT, relationship-building and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Please note this role requires Enhanced Adult DBS checks.
