The Research Administrator role forms part of the Research team at Alzheimer’s Research UK, a team that is responsible for delivering world-class research that will lead to life-changing breakthroughs in diagnosis, prevention, treatment and cure. The Research team is set to deliver an exciting new five-year strategy through a varied portfolio of grant schemes, strategic initiatives, partnerships and by fostering collaboration and innovation. The Research team has expertise in biomedical dementia research and grant management, develops innovative initiatives and produces the content of one of the largest dementia research conferences.

The main purpose of the Research Administrator role is to provide administrative assistance to the smooth running of various activities within the team, including those associated to grant funding, strategic initiatives and meeting coordination. We are looking for a conscientious and dedicated person who will join a busy team at an exciting time.

This role will be known internally as *Research Executive.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

Grants management and administration

· Provide administrative support associated with the funding and running of research projects, such as processing applications for funding or supporting the peer review process.

· Respond to enquiries from grant-holders, applicants and prospective applicants in an accurate and timely manner.

· Be a key point of contact for grant-holders, and process requests for changes to grants.

· Coordinate and monitor annual grant-holder reporting.

· Assist with the execution of contractual agreements with research organisations.

· Process invoices, maintain accurate financial records, and assist with the financial monitoring of research expenditure.

· Maintain digital records of grants and support the ongoing maintenance of ARUK's grant management system.

· Liaise with the Fundraising and Communications teams to coordinate the restriction of funds to research projects.

Research meetings and events

· Organise research meetings and events by coordinating schedules, travel and accommodation arrangements, venue hiring, catering, courier collections and deliveries, and liaising with meeting attendees.

· Assist with the running of meetings and events.

Other duties

· Support the team in maintaining external webpages.

· Provide ad hoc, additional support or resourcing for other Research team activities.

· Work collaboratively with other Research team members in the delivery of ARUK’s grant schemes and strategic initiatives, as required.

What we are looking for:

· Experience in supporting teams in an administrative capacity

· Overall IT competency and knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Excel

· Experience in ensuring spreadsheets are maintained accurately and kept up to date

· Ability to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

· Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Team worker and flexible in approach

· Enthusiastic and professional manner

Additional Information:

Ways of working: As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.

Roles that are classed as part of the Agile ways of working are not able to claim any costs for Mileage/Travel on Public Transport, Accommodation and/or Meals.  This includes when attending the office for various meetings/events.

Job Title: Employment & Engagement adviser

Location:  Hybrid. Liverpool role: involves regular travel within Liverpool to provide in-person support to clients (approx. 1-2 days per week), and travel to Manchester office for team working (approx. once per fortnight as a minimum). We are excited to offer the opportunity of a new role within our Services team. In this role, you will work closely with our team of Employment Advisers to co-work with clients who need support for intensive jobs search and applications. You will also be involved in the enrolment and management of your own caseload of work-ready clients.

We are looking for candidates with experience of supporting individuals with barriers to work into paid employment, who also understand how to create links with local employers to advocate for individual clients. Within this role you will carry a significant responsibility, managing a caseload of work ready clients who have experienced forced migration who are closer to the labour market and supporting them in securing meaningful employment.   

You will provide one-to-one personalised support to ensure your clients access employment opportunities. This involves working with clients to progress in their employment goal, agreeing actions to provide a clear pathway into employment.   

You will work with clients online and by phone, as well as in person to monitor their progress towards their goal.

Another part of your role is to reach out to local employers to facilitate access to local jobs and build relationships to advocate for your clients. You will also support the wider team to understand where to find employment opportunities and build relationships with key employment networks. 

Complementary support will be delivered through use of our volunteers where you will book appointments for clients who require interview practice/mock interviews, allocating time slots according to availability and the volunteer’s specialty.

Main duties and responsibilities

1. Gather available information about a detained person whose case has been referred to Medical Justice

2. Assess the detained person’s needs and the relevant Medical Justice resources available that could assist them

3. Raise any immediate concerns about your client appropriately within Medical Justice and beyond

4. Prioritise referrals (in collaboration with the Casework Manager and the rest of the casework team)

5. Agree a plan of action with the Casework Manager to ensure as many resources as appropriate are marshalled to assist the detained person regarding:

a. Collating of existing medical evidence regarding the detained person and generating new medical evidence, including medico-legal reports (MLRs) and professional letters produced as a result of Medical Justice clinicians’ assessments in detention and/or remotely at your request

b. Challenging any inadequate healthcare provision

c. Facilitating access to good legal representation to challenge detention and to make the best use of the medical evidence we provide, and establish any availability of Legal Aid Agency funding for MLRs and interpreters

d. Facilitating access to appropriate support including accommodation and access to healthcare on release from detention

6. Obtain relevant consent from detained clients

7. Gather further required information needed about a detained client, including medical records, files held by the Home Office, and the detained client’s legal documents

8. Carry out various other actions agreed by the Casework Manager to implement the above plan. This may include:

a. Arranging medical visits to detainees

b. Liaising with healthcare providers in the immigration removal centre (IRC) 

c. Liaising with detained clients

d. Finding appropriate legal representation for a client

e. Signposting or making referrals to other organisations

9. Provide information to the Office Manager for booking medical visits and interpreters

10. Continually update the  case-management system

11. With support from the Casework Manager and Clinical Advisor/clinical reviewers, ensure medical evidence generated is accurate and aligned with instructions from any legal representative and Medical Justice guidance

12. Continually feedback to the staff team any intelligence regarding immigration detention conditions

13. Assist the Casework Manager to provide a monthly report for Trustees on the number of referrals, outcomes and Medical Justice clinicians engaged, noting any areas of concern

14. Collaborate with other staff and partner organisations in activities to secure lasting change including litigation, research, policy work and media work. This could include identification of cases, assisting in getting consent from detained clients, and contributing to briefings and witness statements

15. Where required, attend other meetings and events as agreed with the Casework Manager, including Trustee meetings and events with partner organisations.

16. Assist in other Medical Justice activities, including clinician and interpreter training .

17. Respect and comply with Medical Justice's policies and procedure, including clients’ confidentiality, equality and diversity, health and safety, and vulnerable adults.

General

18. To work flexibly as a member of the team and the organisation and undertake other reasonable duties and responsibilities at the request of the Casework Manager.

19. To assist the smooth running of the organisation, working with other Medical Justice staff, and the Trustees to meets its overall objectives, including participation in periodic performance and training reviews, and contribute to organisational development. Also, attending and assisting with relevant events as appropriate.

20. To promote Medical Justice policies including our anti-discrimination policies.

21. To be self servicing, pro-actively share relevant information and expertise within the organisation and keep all records, statistics and information in accordance with Medical Justice policy and practice.

Safe and Sound Homes (SASH) is a charity that has been helping vulnerable young people experiencing homelessness since their inception in 1994. SASH offers short-term, immediate help at the time of crisis through their Nightstop programme, and longer-term intervention through their Supported Lodgings scheme, where young people are provided accommodation in the homes of volunteer hosts.

You’ll be part of a remote England and Wales wide Family Practitioner team, who work closely together to draw on each other’s skills and experience to ensure families receive the best service from RSBC.

The team link together to run online groups that further support families, and this work may be in the evenings.

The team meet weekly online and come together in person for two-day team training at our London office at least twice a year.

The main purpose of this role is to:

· To establish and maintain a case load of families with blind and partially sighted children and young people aged 0 to 25 who identify themselves as needing support.

· To undertake family assessments to identify specific areas of need; to identify and deliver appropriate interventions that will promote children’s development and emotional wellbeing in collaboration with family members and make and support onward referrals as required.

· To ensure that support is high quality and meets the high standard that RSBC sets, with pre agreed performance indicators.

The ideal candidate will ideally have a qualification that demonstrates the ability to establish a trusting and open relationship with families and CYP. You’ll be experienced in providing emotional wellbeing support with families directly and have knowledge of child development from experience or qualification. You’ll know about family systems/systemic practice – from experience or qualification as well as knowledge and practical experience of using family centred interventions in collaboration with families. We’d like you to have excellent interpersonal skills, and a strong teamwork ethic to fit in with our friendly and knowledgeable team of Family Practitioners across England and Wales.

We are seeking a full-time Direct Payments & Independent Living Advisor, who will be providing support to individuals with a range of disabilities to enable them in using a direct payment, and access to the personal assistant (PA) platform, enabling them greater choice and control over their care and support needs.

As a Direct Payment and Independent Living Adviser, you will be expected to:

· Provide comprehensive support and guidance for both prospective and experienced Personal Assistants, ensuring they understand obligations and responsibilities.

· Offer information and advice on becoming a PA, including facilitating monthly support sessions.

About the project  

Set up by the Southwark Community Refugee Forum, alongside Southwark local community and charity organisations. Kineara provides a weekly drop-in surgery at the St Giles Center giving support and advice to refugees struggling to find PRS due to many barriers, including language. In 2023 the collaboration was formed to respond to the increasing need for housing support to asylum seekers with newly granted refugee status after the Home office made changes to the way they process asylum seekers.   

After 9 months of delivery, we are excited to have secured funding to deliver this work fulltime alongside our PRS Renters Support Programme in Southwark. We will provide crucial crisis support to vulnerable renters and are looking for a passionate housing support worker to be part of the next phase of the project.

About the role  

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and energetic support worker to take up a full-time role within our organisation as a Housing Support Practitioner in our small and dedicated team. The role will be based mostly in Southwark, and you will be working in partnership with the Council’s housing officers and resettlement workers, refugee support organisations, community services. The role involves coordinate tailored support for each client to find and sustain tenancies, mediating with landlords where necessary and providing housing advice. The objective of this programme is to support access to PRS properties, provide information about housing market and polices, help set up sustainable tenancies, increase employment opportunities, improve wellbeing, and increase educational outcomes. You will be working in partnership with other stakeholders, such as council and refugee support professionals to improve family health, build relationships and engage families and individuals and their networks of support.   

About you  

You will have experience of working with individuals with complex needs. You will be an enthusiastic person who is self-motivated, confident and thrives when working independently with a passion to support change. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, experience delivering holistic support, be a solution-minded thinker, have a good understanding of strength-based approaches and be able work sensitively and empathetically with people in vulnerable circumstances. You will also have experience working in a systemic and therapeutic way and ideally have trauma informed training or experience. It is also important to us that you have the competency to work with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds. To work as part of a team and independently, the roles require you to think creatively and use the resources around you effectively.
