About the role

Through community development we work in close collaboration with our respective Parkinson’s communities to bring change on the issues that matter most to people affected by Parkinson’s - whether directly or with their friends, family and carers.

You’ll provide high quality support to the communities of people affected by Parkinson’s in Scotland.

This role is being advertised as full time (35 hours per week) but we are willing to consider applications from candidates who wish to work 28 hours per week.

What you’ll do:

• Provide first point of contact for new people affected by Parkinson’s wanting to engage with our community facing work in Scotland
• Promote and market activities in local areas to ensure our community are aware of all the offers available to support them
• Support the development of new activities with our community both locally and nationally in Scotland, by establishing contact with other organisations and individuals in Scotland
• Organise online and in-person, internal and external meetings and events, including booking venues and refreshments, assisting with the production of materials, fulfilling mailings and taking bookings for our community development work across Scotland
• Develop efficient processes and systems that support the running of all of our community-facing work in Scotland

What you’ll bring:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and negotiate when required at all levels internally and externally
• Ability to work co-productively with people living with Parkinson’s and those affected by it
• Excellent administration and support skills, including note-taking, presentation preparation and a positive, assertive and resilient approach to prioritising and juggling varying pressures and conflicting priorities
• Experience in coordinating multiple projects simultaneously that meet business requirements

We are looking for a part time Information & Advocacy Community Support Worker in Scotland, home based in North Scotland (Inverness or surrounding area due to travel requirements and location of NHS services).

You will ensure that service users (children and adults) and their families, receive high quality support, from the point of diagnosis and throughout their journey, and will assist them to access funding, equipment and care and support that they are entitled to. You will join a team that makes a real difference to the lives of the people living with muscle-wasting conditions, and their families, in Scotland. The role will be primarily home based, but there will also be a requirement to attend outpatient clinics within the region, attend home visits where appropriate and to support responding to queries through the helpline and information inbox. Some travel will be required to attend meetings and events outside of Scotland. You will work with both statutory and voluntary organisations, clinicians, and health and social care professionals to ensure that people living with muscle wasting conditions get the care and support they need to live well and independently.

The Role

Reporting to the Executive Director of Locality Impact our Locality Impact Directorate is responsible for the effective delivery of high quality commissioned and non-commissioned support to stroke survivors and carers. We provide a range of support for people from the early days after stroke throughout their recovery and into the longer term, working closely with our network of volunteers, Stroke Association support groups, and independent groups as part of the Stroke Group Network.

You’ll lead a motivated and engaged team of staff and volunteers to:

· Champion and support improvements to NHS stroke services, building effective relationships with key stakeholders and influencing local stroke policy and practice

· Increase the reach and impact of locality delivered services to ensure all new stroke survivors in the East of England receive the support they need to rebuild their lives after stroke

· Engage with the wider stroke community to put stroke on the map and ensure stroke survivors have the support they need, with a focus on addressing health inequalities

About You

You will have:

· Senior-level experience in advocacy/influencing; service delivery or community engagement and development.

· Senior level experience influencing local or national policy change, ideally in health and social care.

· Substantial experience of holding senior-level relationships with partner organisations, ideally in health and social care / the NHS and a strong understanding of systems leadership.

· Substantial experience of leading high performing teams and large distributed teams (paid staff and volunteers) and an inspiring and motivational approach to leadership.

The East of England comprises of the areas within the Integrated Care Boards of: Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, Norfolk and Waveney, Suffolk and North East Essex, Mid and South Essex, Hertfordshire and West Essex, Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes.

As the Helping Rhino Fundraising Manager, you will be responsible for the delivery of the charity’s fundraising goals through multiple income streams. Frazzled Cafe is a small mental health and wellbeing charity founded by Ruby Wax OBE, that provides a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment where people who are feeling frazzled and overwhelmed by the stresses of modern life can meet on a regular basis to talk and share their personal stories. 

We run our free meetings online every single day of the year for anyone who needs them, and anyone can book and be included to talk, share, listen and to feel heard.

As part of our exciting plans for growth, we are seeking a Development Manager to lead on the organisation’s fundraising and communications to fulfil our mission and play a key role in supporting the next phase of Frazzled Cafe’s growth and development.

You will be responsible for developing and delivering an ambitious fundraising strategy with a range of fundraising activities focusing primarily on trusts and foundations but also individual donors, corporate partners and fundraising campaigns. You will also lead on creating a communications strategy to significantly grow our reach, brand and impact. Working with our Training and Programmes Manager, you will support our plans to expand our network of fantastic Volunteer Facilitators. 

This is an exciting, creative and flexible opportunity for the right person. The ideal candidate is someone with a demonstrable successful track record in fundraising, alongside the skills of a talented and persuasive communicator and relationship builder. MAIN TASKS

Fundraising

● Lead on developing and delivering an annual fundraising strategy to support our ambitious plans for growth, securing a minimum of £250k per year from Trusts and Foundations, individual donors, fundraising events and campaigns, and corporate partnerships.

● Research and generate a pipeline of funding applications, including multi-year grant opportunities from Trusts and Foundations

● Lead on writing compelling applications and conversations with funders, talking persuasively and informatively about Frazzled Cafe’s work and impact

● Work with the CEO and trustees to develop new relationships with individual donors and strengthen partnerships with existing supporters

● Work with the CEO and Head of Training and Programmes to develop new opportunities for corporate sponsorship and partnerships

● Lead on organising fundraising events such as dinners with major funders and initiate and develop other opportunities for fundraising.

● Lead on Frazzled Cafe’s annual Big Give Christmas Challenge campaign and identify any other fundraising campaign opportunities throughout the year, with support from the Project Support and Administration Officer

● Prepare regular reports and updates for our funders, engaging them with our work and the impact of their support

● Ensure that Frazzled Cafe’s fundraising work is GDPR compliant and meets best practice standards.

Marketing and Communications

● Lead on the development of Frazzled Cafe’s first communications strategy to drive awareness and demand, grow our audiences and scale our impact.

● Work with the Project Support and Administration Officer to manage Frazzled Cafe’s socials, newsletters and website, growing engagement across all our channels

● Work with the Head of Training and Programmes to develop a communications strategy to attract and recruit more Volunteer Facilitators and attendees for our programme

Person Specification:

About the role 

This is an exciting opportunity to join Sustrans as part of the Design and Engineering team focusing on the work in the England South Region. 

As the Senior Urban Designer, you will join the team of Urban Designer and Engineers to help deliver Sustrans vision for Liveable Cities and Towns, transforming streets, public spaces and Sustrans National Cycle Network creating routes and spaces that encourage people to travel more actively in their day to day lives 

As a senior member of the team, you will work with the Urban Designers and Engineers to deliver high quality designs that support that effective delivery of Sustrans programmes and projects. You will be responsible for quality assurance, project management, and external relationships and help build a pipeline of future funding. You will also represent Sustrans at meetings with local authority officers, external clients and finders, as well as liaising with members of the public and consultations. 

This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans.

About you 

You should have experience of working on a range of design projects, which will include a high level of stakeholder and community engagement and involvement You will also have a proven track record in project management and programme plan management, including risk, and budgetary management. 

You will be skilled in the production of technical drawing and specifications for street and public spaces using design software. You will also have proven stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of people.

Purpose of the post

Reporting to the Head of External Affairs, this is a pivotal role that is integral to demonstrating the value of health data research. You will work hand-in-hand with the Communications team and the HDR UK research community to tell the compelling story of data in health research and showcase the impact of HDR UK research programmes.

You will help deliver the institute’s communications strategy, working with colleagues to manage a range of tools and channels, including media relations, digital communications, social media, email, publications and events, to reach audiences across academia, NHS, industry, charities, as well as patients and the public.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an experienced science communications professional to lead and deliver communications on cutting-edge research using health data and demonstrate the tangible difference it is making to people’s lives.

We are seeking an individual with a proven track record in research communications who has successfully worked on complex, scientific projects with multiple partners. Communications at Health Data Research UK

Communications and External Affairs is a key enabler in supporting HDR UK’s mission. Our aim is to unite our audiences in the benefit of transforming the secure use of the UK’s health data in research to improve people’s lives.

Main responsibilities for the role

• Implement HDR UK’s communication strategy with a specific focus on communicating scientific and research impact.
• Horizon scan for opportunities to share research impact that demonstrates the value of health data research and the role of HDR UK in this sector.
• Lead, motivate and line manage the Content and Communication Officer, supporting their development in their role.
• Build and maintain networks with researchers across the UK involved with HDR UK research programmes, working with them to identify stories and create accessible content for our target audiences.
• Establish effective relationships and work in partnership with communication, policy and programmme teams across the institute and partners.
• Working with Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement colleagues, ensure our work across communications is shaped by patients and the public as needed.
• Work with the Director of Communications and External Affairs, project manage a branding project for HDR UK with an external agency
• Develop and deliver a new Impact Report for the institute to be launched at a stakeholder event in January
• Manage media relations at HDR UK to gain maximum positive coverage for the institute, manage reputational risk and respond effectively to media interest.
• Research, write and create engaging scientific content in the form of news stories, press releases, features, case studies, videos and podcasts.
• Provide strategic communications support and advice for senior colleagues within Health Data Research UK
• Maintain media and communications contact lists in our media monitoring system and provide updates on the latest news and media coverage.
• Commission external suppliers to support delivery of Health Data Research UK’s science communications and manage these relationships.
• Ensure projects are delivered within set budgets.
• Ensure all communication materials produced for Health Data Research UK adhere to the brand guidelines, helping to ensure the reputation of Health Data Research UK and its partners are maintained.

Responsibilities

Strategic development and implementation

• Develop and oversee an effective PR communications strategy, including business/trade press and public affairs (EU and UN advocacy), based on ProVeg’s strategic principles, impact areas and global interventions.

• Be accountable for the development, delivery, and evaluation of the organisation’s PR activities.

• Create relations with key media outlets to increase visibility and dissemination opportunities

• Develop media relations and build relationships with PR contacts to continuously grow our impact.

• Secure media opportunities for the Senior Leadership and Executive Team and the Global CEO.

• Oversee and ensure the management of positive relationships with the media and relevant change agents, and external colleagues.

• Develop and update, as needed, clear guidance (e.g., core messaging and brand narrative) for the communications team to ensure public communications are aligned with ProVeg’s organisational strategy and communications approach.

• Increase ProVeg International’s profile, particularly in broadcast media, enhance the organisation’s credibility and inspire supporters and other stakeholders through the use of engaging communications.

• Safeguard the organisation’s brand by overseeing and managing the development of crisis communications plans and advising on emerging issues and PR risks and opportunities. 

• Liaise with the Global CEO and the Senior Leadership Team on strategic communication alignment and/or adjustments, and coordinate and ensure synergies in terms of quality control, key messages, templates, strategies, etc.

Qualifications

Required:

• An excellent understanding of the plant-based and alternative protein sector and knowledge of food systems change.

• A successful track record (5+ years) in journalism (print or broadcast), marketing, or public affairs, developing and delivering strategic objectives across a range of communications channels.

• Strong track record in PR (including broadcast), marketing and/or organisational branding.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, English to native level (or C1).

• Excellent networking skills and experience in building productive relationships with key media stakeholders and influencers.

• Strong project management skills.

• Ability to juggle a varied workload, delegate effectively and contribute as a team player.

• Strong team management skills and a commitment to motivating and empowering a team remotely in order to achieve their goals.

JOB SUMMARY

The Trusts Manager will be a driven individual with a background in securing five-, six-, and seven-figure gifts from charitable funders, corporate organisations, and/or Major Donors. Your primary responsibility will be to manage a diverse pool of Trusts and Foundations, both existing and prospective, to maximise philanthropic support across the RUH.

In this role, you will be pivotal in our Development Team, directly reporting to the Head of Development. Here, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with some of the UK's most prominent Trusts and Foundations. Your objective will be to achieve targets by proactively identifying and cultivating relationships with Trusts and Foundations and writing compelling grant applications for our key projects (medical research, patient and staff support, capital campaigns, medical equipment, and 'the area of greatest need.'

The ideal candidate will be adept at nurturing lasting relationships with funders, working towards a team income target of over £1.5m. You will also be a confident stakeholder manager, working closely with clinicians, researchers, and senior leaders to identify some of the key RUH funding areas that can deliver impact.

Central to your success will be your ability to articulate compelling cases for support verbally and in writing, translating complex information into persuasive appeals and grant applications. You will have a proven track record of demonstrating initiative in seizing fundraising opportunities and championing the endeavours of Trusts and Foundations. Your role will secure significant contributions for transformative projects and cultivate a culture of donor-centric giving, fostering long-term partnerships.

• Development- The post holder will manage Trust and Foundation income and secure an annual income of £500k+ towards the total Development team target of £1.5m.
