Supporting someone at the end of their life is not just about providing medical care. As part of the Compassionate Communities agenda, our Hospice Neighbour project brings together our patients with people from their local community who provide simple social and practical support for a few hours each week.
The Hospice Neighbour Coordinator role makes this happen! The successful candidate will be responsible for developing this important service. They’ll act as a single point of contact providing timely advice and guidance for project volunteers, facilitate bi-monthly volunteer support group sessions and build relationships with both internal and external referral partners. General

Support the continued growth of the charity as it seeks to respond to the significant need in the Reading area for mentors for fatherless boys. In particular, through providing support for the Centralised programme.

Being supportive and sympathetic towards Chapter2’s Christian ethos.
Mentors

Develop and implement a strategy for recruiting new male mentors for the Centralised programme.

Assess and train volunteer male mentors.

Monitor the progress of the mentoring relationship through regular in-house monitoring and supervision. At the minimum you will hold monthly meetings with mentors to review progress either virtually or in person.

About this vital role
Our Pantry project will support and engage with individuals and families providing them with positive empowering support to address issues such as wellbeing, housing, debt, and employment. People using the Pantry pay a weekly subscription and, in return, are able to access an abundance of affordable, nutritious food and added support.
The Pantry Coordinator will oversee the day-to-day running of the Pantry, including carrying out and complying with all health and safety procedures and policies, ensuring stock is stored and managed in accordance with food safety and hygiene regulations and providing nutritional and meal planning support and where needed healthy eating plans.
As well as supporting, managing and working alongside a team of volunteers, you will also positively support clients with a range of practical issues, including benefits and debt advice and wellbeing, provide emotional support around areas such confidence building and developing resilience, plus develop and maintain relationships with partner agencies. As a Support Advisor working full time or part time, you will be a fundamental part of our team, supporting the delivery of the RISE programmes and the development of the service. The service will provide a range of trauma-informed and person-centred support, focused on supporting those impacted by abuse to access education, training, employment or volunteering.
You will be responsible for providing trauma informed support through group work and 1-1 support. Working part time or full time alongside a team of practitioners across our geographical patch in Gloucester, providing support to Bristol and North Wilts as required, the project aims to:
- Increase volunteers in FearFree and support people to access volunteering opportunities externally.
- Support individuals impacted by abuse to access training and employment.
- Help people access bespoke apprenticeships and internships.
- Support service users to increase and advance work related skills, such as the development of CVs, financial management and IT skills.
- Raise awareness of this agenda to a wider network.
The service will support victims of Domestic Abuse, Sexual Violence and Stalking aged 15 and above, alongside perpetrators of Domestic Abuse – empowering victims and reducing the risk of recidivism for perpetrators.

The Role
As our Deputy Shop Manager, you will raise funds to invest in achieving the charity’s goal to save lives in Yorkshire and portray the charity as a professional, credible brand which acts with integrity. Reporting to the Shop Manager, you will provide excellent customer service, ensuring volunteers, donors and customers know how their contribution is helping the people of Yorkshire.
Specifically, you will:

Play an active part in running our shop in Ripon, supporting the Shop Manager in implementing processes and ways of working.

Provide cover for days off, holidays and sickness as required, with possible occasional travel to other shops to provide support if needed by the charity.

Support the Shop Manager to maximise the income and profit of the shop through active stock management, replenishment, and rotation.

Manage a team of well-trained volunteers in the absence of the Shop Manager and take every effort to create a happy retail environment.

Support the Shop Manager to ensure accurate accounting and handling of assets (items donated and money received).

Support the Shop Manager to ensure accurate record keeping of items donated and the amount paid for each item for Gift Aid tax reclaim purposes.

Create a welcoming professional atmosphere and deliver high standards of customer service for all customers and supporters.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will need:

To be ideally educated to GCSE level or equivalent but not essential.

To have experience of managing people/volunteers including recruitment and development.

To have previous retail experience in charity sector or commercial sector is desirable.

Job Description
Report to: Head of Food Distribution and Volunteering
Responsible for: Leading the food distribution service and quality assurance at Hackney Foodbank’s allocated Food Distribution Centres located across the borough of Hackney. This includes ensuring all our visitors have a positive experience when collecting their food parcels and are signposted to other provisions appropriately; being responsible for directing the volunteers, working closely with the Head of Food Distribution and Volunteering, Health and Safety, and promoting best practice at each centre. This role will also involve administrative tasks, organising and carrying out home deliveries for visitors, inputting data on visitors’ journeys accurately into a database, driving the Hackney Giving Van occasionally and regularly driving a Luton van to the various Distribution Centres.
Part-time: 25 hours per week, evening and/or weekend work is required
Salary: £27,500 per year (pro-rata for 25 hours per week)
Compulsory: Must have a UK manual driving licence
Specific responsibilities:
· Attend Hackney Foodbank’s Food Distribution Centres to ensure each Centre is run in accordance with HFB’s best practice procedures.
