The applicant will be able to develop their skill set by working in a dynamic team with a range of skills.

The successful candidate will get to attend interesting events, develop their writing/editing skills and be part of the friendly LAG team. As LAG is at the heart of the social justice community, the successful candidate will work closely with our partner organisations including leading law firms, chambers, community advice organisations and NGOs.

Working for an independent book publisher, the Events and Communications Coordinator will be involved in the day to day running of publications and work with our editor and authors.

This is an exciting time to be joining LAG as we are moving to more digital formats and looking towards disseminating wider knowledge and campaigning within the legal community and society. This role offers a great opportunity to learn more about the social justice landscape and to make a positive contribution to LAG’s work.

Principal duties:

Publishing (books and magazine)

• Assisting the editorial board with commissioning decisions

• Supporting the Training Lead with event logistics
•  Coordination of online and in person seminars/conferences/training

• Liaising with Publisher and Training Lead to develop marketing strategies

Customer Service

• Assisting customer service when cover required for customer queries

• Website administration
• Point of contact for subscription agencies

General Administrative tasks

• Notetaking at internal and external meetings
• Co-ordinate staff meetings and sub-groups, including collating and circulating papers, coordinating logistics and meeting spaces (in person or online)

Rainbow Migration, the longest-running charity in Europe dedicated to supporting LGBTQI+ people through the asylum and immigration system, is recruiting a Legal Officer to advise and help improve the representation of LGBTQI+ people seeking asylum and help change the asylum and immigration system to one that treats everyone with compassion, dignity and respect.

We are looking for a qualified solicitor or barrister with valid practising certificate, or already accredited to Level 3 OISC, with two years’ experience in providing advice and representation in asylum including working in legal aid.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the legal advice service. Under the guidance of our Legal Service Manager, you will also build capacity amongst legal representatives by designing and delivering training, giving second tier advice and developing and coordinating a network of practitioners working in this area. You will use the knowledge you gain in this role to help deliver Rainbow Migration’s policy work, such as inputting into policy papers and meeting with partner organisations when required.

We will also consider applications from people who do not want to do the policy elements of the job, but to instead focus on first and second tier advice. Please mention in your covering letter if you are applying for this option.

This is a unique opportunity to build on your experience as a lawyer to improve representation across the sector and create change in government policy and practice. You will be supported to develop as a specialist lawyer and in your policy skills.

Responsibilities will include:

· Deliver one-off advice to adult LGBTQI+ people seeking asylum and work with colleagues to refer them to quality legal aid and pro bono lawyers

· Provide casework assistance e.g. helping to prepare witness statements, making referrals to other specialist organisations and taking other urgent steps (whilst not representing service users or maintaining a caseload)

· Provide occasional advice (within competence) on other issues affecting asylum and partnership service users such as asylum support, legal aid, trafficking, family reunion or community care

· Deliver second tier advice to the legal representatives of LGBTQI+ people seeking asylum and other charities and professionals

· Work with the Legal Service Manager to design and deliver training to lawyers, NGOs and other professionals

· Write blogs and articles on asylum and immigration policy and legislation as they apply to LGBTQI+ people

· Contribute to policy and briefing papers

· Assist with preparing guidelines and briefings for legal services and pro bono lawyers

The Legal Officer will not be providing direct legal representation of service users. However, the role includes substantive advice and casework within the scope of legal support and referrals for our service users, as well as merits testing and second tier advice.

Contract Type: Permanent.

Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week). Working part-time or job-sharing will be considered. Occasional work in the evenings and at weekends may be required but with plenty of notice. Rainbow Migration encourages staff to maintain a good work life balance and has a TOIL system in place.

Salary: Starting at £40,175, with potential annual step increases up to £44,868 (pro-rata for part-time employees), plus statutory employer’s pension contribution. In addition to an annual step increase, the trustees consider giving a separate inflationary increase every April. 

Location: Remote or from Rainbow Migration’s offices in central London. Hybrid working will also be considered. The successful candidate could work from anywhere in the UK but would be expected to occasionally travel to London and other parts of the country for meetings and events. As Complex Needs Community Keyworker you will provide one-to-one support to women on Probation living in the community, and women being released from Prison as part of their Post Sentence Supervision. You’ll provide focused support in identifying their needs and empowering them to access appropriate services in the community. You will also provide some in-reach and ‘Through the Gate’ support prior to women being released from prison.

You will manage a caseload of women with complex needs who are facing housing issues and provide them with advice, guidance and support that helps them connect with other support services in the community that can assist them to overcome barriers when securing safe and appropriate housing.

The role involves a significant amount of data recording and updating case management systems so you need to be prepared to spend a minimum of 35% of your working hours on this aspect and will need to manage your time effectively to meet the data management requirements. This is also a predominantly independent role, so you will need to be confident to make decisions and able to manage your own workload.

You will be employed by One Small Thing but will be part of a wider team of Community Keyworkers employed by our partner Advance. You will also have a desk space at Hope Street, Southampton, to facilitate close working with the rest of the Hope Street team.

You will be required to participate in training and team building events with the wider One Small Thing team as well as the Advance team, in Hampshire.

Role summary

In this role, you’ll be a key member of our small leadership team helping to strategically drive engagement, and income generation.The right candidate will need to be highly resilient with exceptional political, negotiation and relationship development skills.This role includes shared responsibility for securing income that not only sustains our own charity but leverages in significant funding for the wider sector.

Through an integrated approach, the role-holder will be responsible for driving forward two key areas:

• Engagement: Leading the engagement team to enhance and develop our alliance model, a network of strategic relationships and opportunities to engage with our thematic communities and our stakeholders, increasing our influence and impact.

• Income development: Create opportunities to leverage significant funds into the VCSE sector, secure and extend our income and support funding our strategic plans.

Key Duties

We’re looking for a dynamic and inspiring senior individual to strategically lead our Engagement activities, bringing together key existing areas of work.The role will concentrate on two focus areas:

Engagement

• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships at the highest levels with a range of key stakeholders such as current and future partner organisations, decision-makers and influencers.
• Raise local and national profile by attending external engagement sessions and networking opportunities both online and in-person, to build brand awareness and to expand the charity’s network of allies, supporters, and influencers, deputising for the CEO when required.
• Host/chair opportunities to engage with stakeholders of all levels on internally prioritised topics via alliance and learning events.
• Lead the team to mobilise activity to ensure presence at key community focussed events, ensuring we reach more people and engage them actively in our work.Ensuring we have the right level of engagement and the right people attend.
• Represent the organisation as appropriate to the VCSE sector, statutory sector, private sector organisations, professional bodies, and institutions deputising for the CEO when required.
• Be an active member of the senior leadership team, acting as spokesperson and steering the strategy within wider business plans for your respective areas.

Business Development

• Working with the CEO and Director of Operations, to create and deliver an income strategy focussed on meeting VSF funding targets and our aspirations around duration of contracts and grants.Ensure all opportunities to leverage funding for the wider sector are seized.
• Develop strong relationship with key influencers and decision makers within our statutory partner organisations.
• Working with the CEO to lead strategic business development campaigns such as securing second phases of funding for our key funding streams.Be a key face to put to these campaigns.
• Monitor progress against income targets, ensuring an agile approach to mitigating risk and channelling focus of the team in order to maximise return on investment.
• Work with other charity leaders and the strategic alliance to encourage sharing of ideas for income generation.

About this key role

As Footsteps Women’s Service Team Leader, you will provide support and supervision for the team, developing a positive team culture, driven by continuous high performance to ensure we deliver the best services for our clients.  You will be expected to be able to clearly articulate service delivery requirements to the staff team to ensure that contract objectives are achieved, produce reports and statistics which demonstrate impact, outcomes and volumes, and to develop positive and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders developing service referral pathways.

Zambia Inclusive Education 'Tusambilile Chapamo' (Let's Learn Together) End-Term Evaluation Consultancy

Anticipated timeframe: Circa 60 to 70 person days between August 2024 and March 2025

Location: Chinsali District and Lusaka, Zambia/Other considered

The Government of Zambia is committed to ensuring that learners with special education needs and disabilities (LSEND) access inclusive education. The government has signed and ratified the 2006 Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and also outlined a plan for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Post education, young people with disabilities, particularly young women, find it particularly difficult to access formal employment, demonstrating a disconnect between the legislative and policy framework and the systems for their implementation. Therefore, Sightsavers and the Zambian Federation of Disability Organisations (ZAFOD) developed the Tusambilile Chapamo project to empower children and youth with disabilities in Zambia by increasing access to quality, equitable and inclusive education/skills training. By raising the inclusiveness of education provision in the centres, the project aims to benefit all students, both those with disabilities and those without disabilities.

The overall objective of the project is to empower children and youth with disabilities in Zambia by increasing their access to quality, equitable and inclusive education in Chinsali zone, Muchinga Province, and ensuring LSEND have access to a continuum of education of improved quality.

A mid-term review (MTR) was completed in November 2023 for this inclusive education project in Zambia, conducted by the Sightsavers' MEL Team with support from an independent Zambian consultant. The purpose of the MTR was to explore the challenges, successes and learning for the project so far, and to make recommendations for any necessary adjustments in the remaining duration.

Sightsavers is now commissioning a consultant/consultancy to conduct a final end of term evaluation that considers the whole intervention.

Purpose of Analysis

This ETE will assess the performance of the project and garner specific learnings that can be taken forward in future programme design and implementation. It will assess the effectiveness and replicability of the model of low-cost inclusive education piloted in this project and make recommendations pertaining to scalability and sustainability.

The findings, learnings and recommendations from the evaluation will be used by Sightsavers programme staff to inform the design and delivery of similar projects and programmes. This will include continuity work in Zambia (whether or not this is directly supported by Sightsavers), as well as inclusive education work in similar contexts. It is also intended that the evaluation will contribute evidence and/or insight towards some of Sightsavers' thematic learning questions, as well as provide evidence to government that Inclusive Education is doable in Zambia, at a low cost.

The main users of this evaluation will be EU delegation in Zambia, Sightsavers, ZAFOD and government partners.

The evaluation criteria will cover:

• Relevance, is the intervention doing the right things
• Effectiveness, is it achieving the objectives
• Impact, what difference does the intervention bring
• Sustainability, will the benefits be ongoing
• Scalability, which aspects of the intervention are suitable to replicate or scale-up
• Equity and inclusion, how inclusive has the intervention been

Consultant's expertise

• Extensive experience in monitoring and evaluation for international development project/programmes, with strong skills in both qualitative and quantitative approaches.
• Thematic expertise in inclusive education with comprehensive understanding of preferred practices/policy issues at national and global levels.
• Prior experience of Most Significant Change or Outcome Harvesting for programme evaluation purposes.
• Prior experience working in Sub-Saharan Africa is essential, including primary data collection, preferably in Zambia.
• Prior inclusive education work/evaluation experience, as well as knowledge and expertise of disability inclusion and gender mainstreaming.
• Experience of carrying out evaluation and learning exercises of an appropriate scale.
• Ability to source and manage additional support with relevant services such as data collection, translation, sign language interpretation, and transcription, in Zambia when necessary.
• Ability to produce clear, concise, and analytical reports in English, with excellent attention to detail, and to meet agreed deadlines.
• Experience of producing learning and summary documents to share findings and recommendations with diverse audiences in clear and engaging ways. Familiarity with accessible design principles would be advantageous.
• First class communication skills in written and spoken English. Fluency in local languages in Zambia (primarily Bemba) is highly desirable.
• The evaluation team will adhere to the contractual terms and conditions with Sightsavers, including clauses in relation to confidentiality, data protection and intellectual property rights. It is expected that the evaluation will fully follow ethical principles for evaluation, and that the team will adhere to Sightsavers' guidelines on ethical considerations for evaluation, Safeguarding Policy, and Code of Conduct. It is also a requirement that all members of the evaluation team have completed a short online UNICEF ethics training course, or equivalent, before embarking on the evaluation.

Sightsavers welcomes expressions of interest from qualified independent evaluators or consultancy companies. An individual or team with members located in Zambia would be preferred. Consultants with a proven track record in the above will be procured to undertake the project through an expression of interest process. Value for money will be one of the proposal assessment criteria.

We're looking for a kind, compassionate and resilient Waking Night Support Worker to join our Oaklands & St Kilda Service.

About the Role:

Oaklands & St Kilda is a pair of 6-unit supported accommodation mental health rehab services working with young people between the ages of 18-25 who may have experienced a mental health related hospital admission to gain and develop skills for future independent living. The service will support individuals transitioning from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services to Adult services.

The service forms part of a pair of services supporting up to 12 individuals at any one time across the sites, providing a welcoming and supportive environment for young people across London on a spot purchase basis.

Support workers will manage a number of young people to help them to identify, plan and achieve their goals, develop relationships meaningful to them and achieve greater independence by providing a flexible and individually tailored support package.

This is a Waking Night role working to support young people throughout the night at the service. This role completed 10 hour shifts 4 days a week across all days of the week.

This role requires a valid Right to Work for the UK as Look Ahead are not a sponsoring organisation.

What you'll do:

Building supportive, trusting relationships with young people and creating a positive atmosphere
Working proactively with other members of the team to handle the service caseload and administrative responsibilities
Conducting key work sessions as required, that are innovative and engaging in order to achieve Support Plan goals
Co-producing ongoing assessment and management of risks in collaboration with young people with an attitude of 'positive risk taking'
Providing support with daily living activities, including practical assistance to support young people s to independent living e.g. budgeting, cooking, establishing a night time routine
Supporting young people to maintain a healthy environment and where appropriate assisting them to clean their accommodation and maintain good personal hygiene
Assisting in the recording and reporting of customer incidents
Managing referrals, completing assessments and obtaining and maintaining all relevant paperwork
Developing productive relationships with partner organisations to improve service outcomes
Adhering to lone working protocols and maintaining high levels of awareness in relation to the health and safety of yourself and colleagues
Involving young people in the design, development and delivery of the service

Butterfly Conservation is incredibly lucky to have thousands of volunteers who play a critical role in our work, and we want to give them the support they deserve. At the same time, we need to take steps to ensure we have the right volunteer in the right place to deliver our ambitious organisational goals.

We are looking for a Volunteer Development Officer to help us improve the support we offer our existing volunteers, whilst also seeking to increase the diversity of our volunteer supporter base. You will be passionate about helping people to take action for the environment, highly organised and comfortable with both managing routine tasks as well as developing new initiatives.

You will assist in achieving Butterfly Conservation’s Volunteering strategic goals, with a specific emphasis on recruiting, training, communicating with, and celebrating volunteers from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, you will aim to inspire and empower more individuals to take action for butterflies and moths.

This is a remote working role, with occasional travel within the UK as required. You will need to be self-motivated, well organised and able to work independently, as part of a virtual team, and under pressure to meet challenging deadlines.
