We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and compassionate leader to serve as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of our non-profit organisation.
The CEO will be responsible for the overall strategic, operational, and financial leadership of Appeer, at an exciting phase of our growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to our mission, a deep understanding of the challenges faced by people with hidden disabilities, and a proven track record of leadership in a similar setting. Location: Home Based with travel to Woking, Surrey, and surrounds for some meetings and Sessions
Contract: Permanent, 0.8-Full-time (negotiable based on candidate profile)
Salary: £41,000 per annum pro rata
Key Responsibilities of the CEO:
Leadership and Strategy:
● Develop and implement the strategic vision and direction for the organisation in collaboration with the Board of Directors
● Foster a culture of inclusivity, innovation, support and continuous improvement
● Represent the organisation publicly, serving as a passionate advocate for our community
Operational Management:
● Oversee the day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of services.
● Develop and implement policies and procedures aligned with our mission and goals
● Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and best practices including but not limited to safeguarding, employment law, GDPR and finance
● Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures and stakeholder contracts and agreements.
● Act as Appeer’s Equality Lead and oversee Appeer’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policy and procedures
Financial Oversight:
● Develop and manage the annual budget in conjunction with the Board of Directors, working as part of the Finance Committee
● Ensure the financial health and sustainability of the organisation through sound fiscal management and oversight
● Oversee effective pursuit and management of funding, including grants, donations, corporate sponsorship, commissions and partnerships and coordinate large fundraising bids
Stakeholder Engagement:
● Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including beneficiaries, families, staff, funders, and community partners
● Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to support governance and strategic roles
● Provide excellent donor stewardship and nurture strong relationships with funders
● Identify new opportunities for engagement with the wider community to raise awareness and support for the organisation’s mission
Team Management:
● Lead, mentor, and develop the management team and staff, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment
● Direct line management of Programme Managers, Engagement Manager and Business Manager
● Ensure appropriate staffing levels and development opportunities for employees
● Promote a culture of collaboration, respect, and accountability

About Us:
Appeer is a Community Interest Company (CIC) set up to deliver services that support autistic girls and women (and those assigned female at birth) to connect with peers, to develop their life/work skills and to support their wellbeing. We provide in person and online activity groups and programmes, alternative provision, events and resources for those in the community that we serve, their parents/carers and other professionals. We are not a therapeutic setting and as such do not offer clinical support or 1:1 supervision. We were established in 2019 and have since grown rapidly from a small startup to a robust small-medium enterprise with a turnover of £250k and serving well over 400 beneficiaries a year.
All our work is firmly rooted in a ‘positive peer approach’, providing an enjoyable, pressure-free and beneficiary-centred space for connecting with others and exploring interests and hobbies in a place they can truly be themselves. We also facilitate light touch exploration of autism and the discovery and sharing of helpful tools and approaches for navigating the neurodivergent experience.

Title: Policy Advisor (WHO Global Report on Health Equity for Persons with Disabilities)
Location: Kenya, Cameroon, Senegal and Tanzania
Contract: 12-month fixed term contract
The purpose of this role is to act as the policy focal point between Sightsavers and the World Health Organization (WHO) in the implementation of the at the country level.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Promote and support implementation of the recommendations of the global report at national level.
- Offer policy analysis and advice to help identify priorities and entry points for engaging with Ministries of Health and other stakeholders.
- Facilitate engagement in relevant policy processes and opportunities related to the implementation of the Global Report and Guide for Action process at the country level.
- Build strategic partnerships and alliances with key actors at the national and regional level to promote health equity, including governments, Organisations of Persons with Disabilities, health sector partners, Civil society and relevant bilateral and multilateral agencies.
- Ensure continuity of information sharing across Sightsavers and act as a point of contact for WHO Disability team and WHO regional and country offices.
- Promote the integration of health equity into national long-term strategic health plans and support the development of Sightsavers' policy analysis on health equity.
- Identify and leverage influencing opportunities at national and global levels in partnership with WHO.

Although not essential, we also prefer you to have:
- Experience of working in an NGO corporate fundraising environment

Right now, one of our partners, Aquarius Action Projects, is looking for a Practitioner to join their team. Solihull Integrated Addiction Service (SIAS) is a partnership between five organisations jointly responsible for the delivery of the drug, alcohol, homelessness and gambling services, in the Borough of Solihull. We offer services for adults who use or are affected by substance use, homelessness and gambling.
The aim of the outreach practitioner is to ensure that key services are available to those who need it most. Working in the community and office based setting, the role will include completing treatment assessments, home visits/outreach visits, prison visits, multi-agency working (with WMP, CMHT, GPs, probation and other supporting services). The role entails reaching out to hard to engage clients and supporting them to overcome the barriers they have to accessing treatment. Taking treatment into the community, the outreach practitioner will carry a caseload and provide intensive support to encourage people to try different approaches to engaging with support so offering home visit assessment, prison in reach visits on preparation for their release or meeting in a place of safety for example library or probation office.
Alongside getting to know people in a non-judgemental setting and treating them with empathy we hope to help break the cycle of clients entering and leaving treatment without the right support, letting them know they have choices and support to achieve their goals. We will be introducing the SIAS service and all it has to offer and continued support from ourselves and partners that will help to build confidence, self-esteem and choice.
Your challenge? As a Practitioner you will be working specifically with clients to support the delivery of interventions and to empower change in individuals. You will support people through an outreach approach in addressing their substance needs.
We are looking for an energetic and confident self-starter, you have a qualification in health/social care, youth and community work (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or above, DipSW, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling, Addiction Studies). Alternatively, we’ll consider candidates with experience of working in the substance misuse or housing and homeless field with a commitment to complete NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care. As well as good knowledge of alcohol/drug and health related issues, you're used to liaising with voluntary and statutory agencies and health professionals and comfortable engaging with clients in a variety of service delivery settings. What’s more, you have a flexible approach, a commitment to the principles of confidentiality and excellent record keeping and Microsoft Office.
Due to the nature of the role, a driving licence and access to a car is essential.
This is a permanent full-time role requiring the post holder to work 37 hours per week.

Service Manager (Mental Health)
Birmingham - Hybrid

37.5 Hours per week
Our client has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Service Manager to manage a team of their staff placed in Forward Thinking Birmingham (FTB) and the Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust (BSHMHFT). You’ll work closely with NHS clinical partners and ensure that patients are well supported, and their support is recovery focused and underpinned by a person-centered approach. With experience in mental health, wellbeing and recovery, you will ensure that the teams work together with clinical partners to provide exceptional support. You’ll develop team members to ensure they can meet expectations and continue to improve their own development.

Your Job Description
As a Youth Project Leader, you will:
• Deliver ReachOut sessions at the same partner school on the same day and time weekly during term time.

• Facilitate engaging ReachOut sessions for the young people attending by ensuring that the voice of young people is listened to and impacts the way the sessions are planned and facilitated.
• Manage and support a group of volunteer mentors; supporting them to build strong rapport with their mentees and helping them to understand how to best adapt their mentoring approach to the young people they are working with.

Job Purpose
As Adult Leadership and Volunteering Lead you will manage the design and implementation of learning and leadership development activities that support adult volunteers perform in their roles, in line with WAGGGS’ strategy and educational methodology. You will have oversight of WAGGGS’s Volunteer Network and ensure the effective functioning of this network and high standards of volunteer management.
You will become an expert in our educational method, leadership model and approach to facilitation, enabling you to update written resources and develop new training programmes to support others to apply these in their work. You will take a high level of initiative and be ready to make progress independently, in balance with sharing leadership for key projects with volunteers and staff from across our international team.
Key Responsibilities:
International Leadership Development Programme (adult facing)
Manage our international leadership development provision for adults, as part of a cross-cutting international leadership programme.
- Sharing leadership with the Youth Leadership and Participation Lead, build on work to date on the WAGGGS Leadership Model to ensure we continue to demonstrate thought leadership and innovation around leadership development in the Girl Guide and Girl Scout Movement and beyond.
- Support fundraising proposals, monitoring and evaluation and partnership building to strengthen our leadership development programme.
- Work in partnership with the Membership and Regional Support (MARS) and Governance teams to conduct a needs assessment and design a sustainable leadership development offer for organisational leadership teams in WAGGGS and our national organisations, based on the WAGGGS Leadership Model.
WAGGGS International Facilitation Programme
- Support the Facilitation Programme Lead to establish a sustainable international facilitator training programme, mentoring scheme and accreditation process, and roll it out across the organisation
- Ensure high quality asynchronous and synchronous training content is available for use both in face-toface and virtual training settings
- Support delivery of face-to-face facilitation training in international settings if required
Global Volunteer Resources Management
- Work with the Volunteering Coordinator to ensure our volunteer-facing policies, processes and supporting management systems are fit for purpose and well implemented to support a positive volunteer experience, in line with our Framework for Volunteering.
- Encourage a culture of volunteer-staff partnership across WAGGGS, and support teams to establish and maintain consistent, positive working practices with volunteers.
Oversee the WAGGGS Volunteer Network
- Support the Volunteering Coordinator to manage WAGGGS’s global volunteer network
- Ensuring the Senior Management Team have access to reliable, up to date information on volunteer roles and teams and performance in WAGGGS.
- Monitor Member Organisation satisfaction with the WAGGGS Volunteer Network and engage in continuous improvement activities.
