National Advice Manager Jobs

The Society of Antiquaries of Scotland is looking for expertise in writing successful major funding bids to help it deliver its Transformation Plan. The applicant will deliver a successful Expression of Interest (EOI) and initial Development Phase grant application for submission to the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) Grants over £250,000 scheme. The core of this application includes the acquisition and redevelopment of a B-listed building in central Edinburgh.

Specification
Delivery to the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland Director of a completed Expression of Interest (EOI) for submission to the National Lottery Heritage Fund for a major grant over £250,000. The total value of the grant will be in the region of £5 million.

Delivery to the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland Director of a completed Development phase (stage 1) application for submission to the National Lottery Heritage Fund for a major grant over £250,000. The total value of the grant will be in the region of £5 million.

The Development phase application will be fully completed and ready to submit for the end of February 2025 application deadline as set by NLHF.

The initial EOI will be fully completed and ready to submit as soon as possible (e.g. October 2024) to provide time to meet the end of February 2025 application deadline as set by NLHF.

Both the EOI and Development phase application will be developed in collaboration with Society of Antiquaries of Scotland staff and trustees with advice from the More Partnership and others as required.

The EOI and Development phase application will include a persuasive case for support developed in collaboration with the More Partnership and supported by research already undertaken on the Transformation Project. Information on research already available for an application can be provided on request.

The successful applicant will assist with quotes, costs and budget for the project application.

The successful applicant will work collaboratively with Society staff and trustees, and the wider project team, to follow a work schedule and timetable mutually agreed at the earliest opportunity, and within two weeks of being awarded the contract.

The successful applicant will report to the Director of the Society, Dr Simon Gilmour.

Both the EOI and Development phase application will be to the highest quality as agreed by the Director of the Society.

The tender is for work up to £27,000 in value (including VAT) to deliver two documents. A successful application will be rewarded with a further £10,000 after completion of the initial project.

Terms and conditions
The applicant will undertake and complete quality EOI and Development phase (stage 1) NLHF grant applications before the end of February 2025, including the development of a persuasive case for support in collaboration with the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland and external organisations contracted or otherwise directed by the Society. This will build on work already undertaken towards the application.
The applicants work will comprise and deliver all the key activities, objectives and milestones, services, deliverables and outputs as stated and laid out in the Society’s tender document and in any proposal bid submitted to the Society in response to the tender.
Both parties will follow a work schedule and timetable mutually agreed at the earliest opportunity, and within two weeks of being awarded the contract.
Initial milestones will include (dates to be confirmed):
1) The signing of an agreed contract
2) The delivery of a completed EOI for submission by the Society to the NLHF (mid-October 2024)
3) The NLHF response to the EOI
4) The delivery of a completed Development phase (stage 1) application for submission by the Society to the NLHF (end-February 2025)
5) The NLHF response to the Development phase (stage 1) application (end-June 2025)

On completion of work and on receipt of all agreed deliverables sent to the Society on time, in full and to high quality, the Society will pay the successful applicant in mutually agreed stages (dates to be confirmed):
- Payment 1 (30%, £8,100) to be paid once the contract is signed by both parties (September 2024 – milestone 1)
- Payment 2 (10%, £2,700) to be paid on receipt of a completed EOI for submission by the Society to the NLHF (mid-October 2024 - milestone 2)
- Payment 3 (10%, £2,700) to be paid on receipt of positive response from NLHF to EOI application (20 working days - milestone 3)
- Payment 4 (50%, £13,500) to be paid on receipt of a completed Development phase (stage 1) application for submission by the Society to the NLHF (end-February 2025 - milestone 4)
- Payment 5 (£10,000) to be paid on receipt of a positive response from NLHF to the Development phase (stage 1) application (end-June 2025 – milestone 5)
Any changes to the brief or methodology to be employed by the successful applicant will be mutually agreed in writing. Any such changes will not affect the overall cost unless agreed in writing with the Director of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland.

The main point of contact for this project and contract will be Simon Gilmour, Director at the Society. A point of contact for the applicant will be included in their submission.

This project will be carried out in as environmentally friendly way as possible and practical.
Any intellectual property which the applicant generates during this project shall belong to the Society. Such intellectual property may include (but is not limited to) copyright works, computer programs, designs, documentation, trademarks and ownership rights or other materials.
If the applicant generates any such intellectual property they will promptly provide full details to the Society and will not disclose any details to anyone outside the Society either during or after this contract period.

Evaluation criteria
Proposals submitted in response to this tender will be evaluated on value for money, quality of submission, and experience in relation to the criteria below. However, the full guide price is expected.
Requirements
Demonstrable successful experience in delivering successful major NLHF funding bids.
A track record of successful fundraising, including sizeable NLHF applications, relating to redevelopment of a listed building.
Demonstrable experience of delivering complex and persuasive funding bids to a tight timetable.
Experience of working with small charitable organisations.
Track record of bringing innovative creative thinking and fresh ideas to an organisation and/ or its services.
Excellent interpersonal and networking skills.
Experience of working with a heritage organisation in the UK.
 

Beyond Support – Women’s Telephone Support Worker – Southampton

Beyond the Streets is a small charity with a big determination to see routes out for women selling sex in the UK.  Our ‘Direct Work’ is central to the organisation, and due to an increase in service demand we are looking to increase our staff team by recruiting a Women’s Telephone Support Worker.

Working as part of a small team in our office in Southampton, you will be responsible for providing regular telephone support to a caseload of women.  Within this, you will be often the first point of support for women involved in the sex industry, offering a listening ear for them to process some of their feelings and experiences within this space and providing emotional support; as well as providing more practical assistance to overcome the barriers they face in accessing support.  This could be through advocating with external agencies e.g., mental health, housing, problematic substance use, homelessness, poverty, domestic abuse, sexual violence, the criminal justice system; and to make positive steps forward with their lives.

The Fire Brigades Union (FBU) is the voice of firefighters in the UK, representing uniformed front line emergency staff of the fire and rescue services.  We are the only recognised trade union negotiating nationally for firefighters and emergency fire control staff.

You will design and deliver schools and seminars for equality section members and reps as well as designing, co-ordinating and delivering on campaigns and initiatives around equality, equity, diversity, inclusion, anti-harassment, fairness, culture and culture change. 

Having empathy with under-represented groups, you will be resilient and able to relate to a wide spectrum of people, such as firefighters, lay officials, senior officials and members of the public. The Oasis Hub Waterloo team are currently looking for a Foodbank Trusts & Corporate Fundraiser to raise much-needed funds for our Waterloo Foodbank and other strategic partners.

The successful applicant would be responsible for writing funding bids for trusts, and also developing relationships with local businesses, to increase our unrestricted corporate income.

Some of the duties of this newly created role include:

· Research and identify potential short- and long-term funders from among grant making trusts and statutory bodies.

· To prepare written applications in co-operation with and on behalf of Waterloo Foodbank projects and ensure suitable budgets are prepared.

This is a remote working role offering flexible working.

Position: S11203 Stroke Association Support Coordinator

The Role

The service aims to identify and address the needs of stroke survivors and carers across the stroke pathway, by helping people to develop strategies, rebuild confidence and increase independence with their communication. This may be on a one-to-one basis or in a group setting.

The Stroke Association Support Coordinator will:

· Support new stroke survivors and their carers from hospital discharge into the community.

· Take a person-centred approach to goal setting and support to enable stroke survivors and their carers to improve communication

· Provide personalised information, advice and support.

· Support stroke survivors to make informed lifestyle changes which will help them to prevent further strokes.

· Work collaboratively with NHS colleagues and other areas of the community to make a difference in the lives of people affected by stroke.

In particular, you would provide leadership on how children’s rights are impacted by counter-terrorism measures, including working on UK-based and international campaigning. You would also be responsible for exploring the expansion of CRIN’s work on children and armed conflict internationally.

You would work closely and collaboratively with numerous members of the CRIN team, including the Co-Directors and the Children’s Rights and National Security Coordinator. Your responsibilities would include:

• Leading CRIN’s work on children’s rights and national security and armed conflict;

• Building relationships and conducting advocacy with relevant decision-makers, including government and UN policymakers;

• Building and developing relationships with relevant organisations and individuals at all levels, including grassroots, national, regional and global;

• Working with other staff/consultants to conduct research and draft resources, e.g. research reports, briefings for decision-makers, submissions to relevant bodies;

• Helping with coordination on various issue areas related to national security and armed conflict: planning; formulating strategy; carrying out activities; and monitoring, evaluating, and reporting;

• Advising on and incorporating an anti-oppressive approach within our work on armed conflict and national security;

• Monitoring relevant news and policy developments, identifying opportunities for advocacy;

• Working with CRIN communications staff to create content for the website, social media, and newsletter;

• Supporting and working closely with other CRIN policy team members, providing legal and advocacy advice for their work;

• Representing CRIN in relevant coalitions/networks and at external events/meetings related to the issue area;

• Contributing to seeking media coverage for the issues, e.g. pitching stories, liaising with journalists, responding to interview requests.

We are looking for someone with the following attributes:

• Knowledge of and passion for children’s rights;

• Knowledge of the impact of counter-terrorism laws on children’s rights;

• Excellent legal research skills and experience utilising knowledge of comparative law and human rights law;

• Ability to think strategically and analytically, in particular the ability to develop effective strategies for social change; 

• Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with diverse stakeholders, including in writing, and to cultivate relationships with a variety of people;

• An understanding of how oppression can manifest in the issues we work on (and how we work as an international NGO) and a keen interest in how we can implement an anti-oppression approach;

• Knowledge of the UN framework and experience conducting effective advocacy in this context; 

• Motivated, with strong organisational skills and an ability to manage own work (including while remote-working);

• Fluency in English;

• Ability to thrive in a small (and mostly remote) team.

The following would also be an advantage:

• Fluency in another UN language;

• Experience coordinating various projects or strands of work;

• Experience of media work.

About the project  

Set up by the Southwark Community Refugee Forum, alongside Southwark local community and charity organisations. Kineara provides a weekly drop-in surgery at the St Giles Center giving support and advice to refugees struggling to find PRS due to many barriers, including language. In 2023 the collaboration was formed to respond to the increasing need for housing support to asylum seekers with newly granted refugee status after the Home office made changes to the way they process asylum seekers.   

After 9 months of delivery, we are excited to have secured funding to deliver this work fulltime alongside our PRS Renters Support Programme in Southwark. We will provide crucial crisis support to vulnerable renters and are looking for a passionate housing support worker to be part of the next phase of the project.

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and energetic support worker to take up a full-time role within our organisation as a Housing Support Practitioner in our small and dedicated team. The role will be based mostly in Southwark, and you will be working in partnership with the Council’s housing officers and resettlement workers, refugee support organisations, community services. The role involves coordinate tailored support for each client to find and sustain tenancies, mediating with landlords where necessary and providing housing advice. Galop, the UK’s LGBT+ anti-abuse charity, is seeking a Senior Trans+ Independent Victim Advocate to provide an effective and professional service to LGBT+ people facing violence and abuse.

Galop works directly with thousands of LGBT+ people who have experienced abuse and violence every year. We specialise in supporting victims and survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence, hate crime, and other forms of abuse including honour-based abuse, forced marriage, and so-called conversion therapies. We are a service run by LGBT+ people, for LGBT+ people, and the needs of our community are at the centre of what we do.

We run a national support helpline for LGBT+ victims and survivors of: domestic abuse; hate crime; rape and sexual abuse; and so-called “conversion therapy”. We provide advocacy services, both in London and nationally, for LGBT+ victims who need longer-term support. We are person-centred, empowerment-based, and trauma-informed – meaning our focus is always on helping our clients decide what is best for them, and then supporting them through their journey.

We use what we learn through working on the frontlines with clients to work on national and local policy change, to improve outcomes for LGBT+ victims and survivors of abuse and violence. We build evidence through key pieces of research, like our upcoming report into LGBT+ experiences of sexual violence. We push for legislative change, improved statutory guidance for victims, and better understanding of the needs of LGBT+ people around the country. 

Galop is looking for an experienced practitioner to provide effective support to Trans and Non-Binary victims and survivors of abuse and violence in the UK. You will work within the advocacy team to deliver advice, support, and advocacy to Trans and Non-Binary victims and survivors, specifically domestic abuse and sexual violence.  You will act as a specialist lead within the advocacy team on to ensure that the specific needs of trans and non-binary survivors are met, including providing support, advice and expertise to your colleagues and externally. 

You will have an in depth understanding of the spectrum of violence and abuse that LGBT+ people are subjected to, including the causes, impact and barriers to accessing services. You will use your expertise to represent Galop with key stakeholders, advocating for the needs of the community. 

You will have expertise in delivering needs-led specialist support services. You will need to be solutions-focussed and enjoy working collaboratively across a diverse and committed team. You’ll need to have good resilience and self-care and be prepared to work in an environment where abuse and violence are regularly talked about.
