In joining us as a Trustee on the Board you’ll have a general role in developing the charity in line with our strategy and, together with other Trustees, ensuring compliance with Charity Commission and other legal and governance regulations. However additionally as our Lead for Supporter Development you will use your specialist knowledge to inform and guide the Trustee Board in this area and coordinate and drive forward related activities to meet agreed aims. As part of this remit, you will also oversee the recruitment of a Communications and Supporter Care Officer (a brand new role) and have ongoing responsibility for communicating organisational requirements and providing feedback to the individual once engaged.

What will you be doing?
The Risk and Assets Lead Trustee will be responsible for the management of a risk register, ensuring that the Board of Trustees are aware and kept up to date regarding their legal, regulatory, and governance responsibilities. In this role you will monitor the food bank’s risk log, ensuring that the Board of Trustees at Middlewich & District Foodbank are aware and kept up to date with regard to current risks and their status.
Key tasks:
Trustee (Risk Lead) Responsibilities:
- to ensure that the Trustee board understand their legal and regulatory responsibilities with regard to the maintenance and updating of the charity’s risk register and other matters relating to risk.
- to maintain the risk register for the charity, liaising with the Chair of Trustees and wider board to identify when risks require review.
- to ensure, along with operational management support, that policies and risk assessments are in place and kept up to date with the changing internal and external environment.
- to be the allocated point of contact for risk related enquiries.

About the Alec Dickson Trust
Alec Dickson together with his wife Moira, founded Voluntary Service overseas (VSO) and later Community Service Volunteer (CSV) as they passionately believed that anyone – whatever their background – could make a positive contribution to the world around them. Alec pioneered the involvement of young volunteers with backgrounds in offending, drug misuse and homelessness, built up a programme of community service work in schools, and campaigned vigorously for a nationwide community service. It was with this spirit of adventure and belief in young people that the Alec Dickson Trust was established after Alec’s death in 1994. Since then, the Trust has continued his legacy by awarding grants to young people with innovative community projects promoting volunteering up to the value of £500.
Joining the Alec Dickson Trust
We are looking to recruit 2-4 trustees with a diverse set of skills and experiences.
We welcome applications from disadvantaged/underrepresented groups and backgrounds outside of the charity sector. We are particularly interested to hear from first-time trustees and applicants with skills in fundraising and communications.
There will be some flexibility in the exact nature of each trustee role, but we currently expect vacancies in the following areas: Fundraising and Communications – please let us know in your application if you want to apply for a specific role.
The Fundraising role will include developing and implementing the fundraising strategy, focusing on engaging and securing donations from public and private charitable bodies. The communications role will include developing and agreeing a social media strategy, creating content to promote the trust and extend our outreach and modernising our website.

Sustainability Research Volunteer
People & Planet is looking for volunteers to assist with compiling its 2025/26 People & Planet
University League; the only higher education ranking that classifies based on ethics and climate
justice criteria.
Universities impart skills and knowledge, form life-long beliefs and behaviours, act as centres of
communities, employ, house and feed large numbers of people and promote the creation and
sharing of knowledge. We believe this makes them uniquely placed to lead on environmental and
ethical issues. For this reason the People & Planet University League has been running since 2007
and has been published by high-profile media partners such as The Guardian (2021, 2022. 2023,
2024) and whose data is used in the Sunday Time Good University Guide.
Volunteers will research publicly available university documents and assess universities against
our marking criteria, which cover a wide range of climate and social justice issues including
decarbonisation, fossil fuel divestment, ethical banking, workers’ rights and environmental
management among others. This work will help to incentivise the university sector towards taking
immediate and appropriate action on the climate crisis and upholding the rights and wellbeing of all
people internationally.
The role will develop and improve the following areas:
● Qualitative research skills
● Attention to detail
● Use of data collection software
● Time management and keeping to deadlines
● Working independently and remotely
● Communication skills
● Knowledge of environmental management processes and sustainability reporting.
Training is provided for the role. We believe the skills and experience gained could be valuable for
a number of career paths, including working in NGOs, corporate sustainability, estates
management, higher education policy making, research and campaigning among many others.
People & Planet would like to support volunteers in their future careers, so will give all volunteers
an official reference letter on successful completion of their placement and will act as a referee for
future positions for which you may apply. From last year’s cohort, 100% said they would
recommend this position to someone who wanted to add experience to their CV.

Person Specification -the following are essential:
- Access to a computer or laptop and internet connection.
- Familiarity with desk-based research.
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently to agreed standards.

- Able to communicate needs with staff at People & Planet and if needed, ask for appropriate
- support to complete tasks in time.
- Ability to search policy documents for specific information in English.
- Ability to assess information against standardised frameworks.
- Ability to work remotely and independently
The following are desirable:
● Awareness of current issues in sustainability and ethics.
● Experience of research and data collection.
● An interest in higher education policy.
You will need to commit to
● Two 25 hour weeks of remote work in July and August.
● 5 hours work per day for the two week period. Volunteers can manage their own time
flexibly and will receive support from People & Planet, but must meet task deadlines on a
weekly basis and attend a short daily meeting.
● One half day of remote training and induction the week prior to your 2 week engagement.
● Attending a brief meeting in the morning or afternoon each day and one individual check-in
meeting in week 1.

online self-access task before being invited to volunteer with us.

We are looking for a new Company Board Director to help guide Climate Emergency UK over the course of the next 2 years.
Climate Emergency UK is at a exciting time, since starting just over 5 years ago we have have successfully launched the first ever complete UK assessment of coucil climate action, with the Council Climate Action Scorecards, and are about to launch the second one in June 2025. We are halfway through delivering our first 3 year strategy, with focusses on how we can advocate at a national level for further and faster council climate action, sustain ourselves as an organisation and keep up our crucial local work with councils and residents via the Scorecards, training and other projects.
We need support from our Board to further the sustainability of the organisation.
We are particularly looking for Directors with either/or any of the following experience:

ARTHOUSE Unlimited is seeking a dedicated Finance Trustee to join our small but passionate team of five and help make a meaningful difference to the lives of our beneficiaries.
The charity, based in Godalming in Surrey, runs supported art sessions six days a week (morning and afternoon). The current program serves 50 beneficiaries, who create artwork used on a variety of products sold to over 600 business to business clients, including multiple gift outlets. In addition to selling designs and individual finished artwork, we also supply and dispatch company gifting, sell directly to customers through our retail website and work with established brands such as LUSH, Heals, Urban Outfitters, Waterstones. We are looking to increase our board of Trustees with an individual who has financial expertise to guide us through the next stage of our growth and development.
The Trustees meet approximately 10 times a year, either in person in Godalming or online. We are a hands-on team, and all Trustees actively support the organisation, working closely with our small professional team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend Trustee meetings (10 times a year) to provide strategic advice and support.
- Use your financial experience to assist with budgeting, financial planning, and ensuring long-term sustainability.
- Work collaboratively with other Trustees and the professional team to support the growth and development of our services and programs.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Strong financial background, ideally with experience in budgeting, financial planning, or financial oversight.
- Passion for making a positive difference to the lives of individuals with neurodiverse conditions.
- Ability to offer strategic input and work closely with a small team.
