Job Title
· Deputy Centre Manager (The Junction Youth Centre, High Wycombe)
Position in the Organisation
· Reports To: Centre Manager
· Responsible For: Youth Workers and freelance staff
· Working hours: The centre is open 7 days a week 4-9pm. Working hours are 1:45-9pm on a two-week rotation (4 days one week and 6 the following). This post includes regular weekend work.
· Working With: Other members of the Action4Youth team including the High Wycombe Mentor, other programme staff, schools, key partners including other local youth organisations, Buckinghamshire Council, Thames Valley Police and many more.
Main Purpose and Scope of the Role
This role will assist with the day-to-day management of the centre and lead a small team of staff, including Youth Workers and some freelancers. The Deputy Centre Manager will be working in partnership with the Centre Manager to ensure the safe running of the centre and to deliver youth work directly. This role will liaise closely with the Centre Manager in order to make sure youth provision is effective and inclusive for all young people.
This role will be based in a multi service drop-in centre in High Wycombe for young people aged 12 – 18 years (up to 25 with SEND). The service will offer a range of sessions and activities all under one roof, seven days a week, and provides specialist support to those who are vulnerable.
The centre provides support in the following areas;
1. Crisis support; a drop-in service operating seven days a week where young people can come in and access specialist support and signposting in the below areas from trained staff.
· Homelessness
· Sexual health/unplanned pregnancy/sexual identity
· Family breakdown
· Crime
· Violence
· Bullying
· Substance misuse
· Relationship breakdown
2. A programme of mentoring to support young people on a 1:1 basis.
3. Health and wellbeing; a timetable of weekly activities focussing on positive mental and physical wellbeing.
· Nutrition and cooking - A weekly ‘cook along’ session will be available for young people to participate in where they learn the basics of cooking healthy and cheap meals.
· A timetable of fitness sessions including boxing and MMA sessions.
· A fortnightly mental wellbeing session which will focus on topics such as positive body image, social media, mental resilience, stress management, positive relationships etc.
4. A Youth Space for socialising and leisure activities;
· Café area
· Pool table, table football, table tennis, gaming consoles
· Weekly homework/ study club providing a quiet space where young people can get support on any schoolwork
· Weekly SEND Youth Group- open to young people with additional needs only who can come to socialise and participate in sessions on life skills
Duties and Key Responsibilities
- Register young people on arrival at the centre
- Keep the centre clean and tidy and be responsible for opening/ locking up the centre
- Assist with the overall smooth running of the centre and all its activity strands
- Work closely with library staff, Eden security and other key partners
- Be the lead staff member, running the Youth Centre, when the Centre Manager is not on shift
- Attend Action4Youth team meetings (sometimes outside of working hours) and be a positive link between The Junction and the other Action4Youth sites
- Communicate effectively with all core staff, freelancers and partners to ensure the centre is running safely and effectively and always be a positive role model
- Assess the needs of young people to correctly plan and deliver sessions related to areas such as health, fitness, smoking, drugs, gangs, violence, relationships and bullying
- Set up and run regular group youth work sessions in line with the key areas listed above
- Develop a positive rapport with young people based on respect and trust, ensuring the youth centre is a safe and welcoming place
- Establish boundaries and challenge inappropriate behaviour
- Mentor, coach and support individual young people
- Work in partnership with families and other key people in the young person's life, as well as with professionals from other organisations such as social care, health, police, education, youth offending teams and local authorities, in order to build a strong support network
- Manage, support and mentor staff, including youth workers and placement students
- Undertake administrative tasks relating to the centre’s efficient running, maintain effective recording systems and respond to queries
- Provide reports for funders and to SMT- including attendee numbers, case studies and other KPI’s as per funding applications.
- Promote the services of The Junction and take the lead in organising recruitment events at local schools. These may be outside the regular working hours, and you will need to claim time back in lieu.
- Attend local networking meetings to represent Action4Youth and promote the services of The Junction
- Work collaboratively with local community organisations to offer the best services to young people
- Always Act as an Ambassador for Action4Youth.
General Responsibilities

· Undertaking responsibility, as part of the team, for all Health and Safety work related matters.
· Working within the guidelines of Action4Youth policies and procedures.
Skills, Experience and Knowledge
- Previous work experience in the youth, education or community sector
- Be able to lead, manage and support a small team
- Excellent communication skills, including being able to positively engage with young people from a wide range of backgrounds and actively involve them in the decision making process.
- Confident user of IT, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Experience of using a CRM system (desirable)
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable)
- Practical experience of designing and delivering presentations to a varied audience (desirable)

Job purpose
This is a new role, responsible for delivering financial support for our mission from corporate partners. Initially, the majority of your time will be devoted to new business development, including prospect identification, and shaping and delivering pitches and proposals to corporate partners to meet fundraising targets. This is an exciting opportunity to join as an Administrator within our Clinical Effectiveness team.
As the team’s Administrator you will provide administrative services in support of the Clinical Effectiveness team and wider Delivered Services. Hours:

- Ensure that immediate bereavement support is available for all affected by the sudden death of a child or young person
- Provide a professional counselling service and other therapies for those affected by the sudden death of a child or young person
- Provide support to individuals who witness the sudden death of a child or young person
- Provide support and training to professionals from any sector who may be affected by the sudden death of a child or young person
- To advocate and campaign on behalf of suddenly bereaved families
2wish Cymru and 2wish:
2wish has been established since 2012 and has grown from strength to strength. During this time, we have worked tirelessly to embed our service and ensure that the offer of support is made at the point of death.
We offer an immediate, consistent, high-quality and compassionate service to all individuals affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young person aged 25 and under in Wales. We work in partnership with professionals who refer into the charity on behalf of the families, so they don't have to trawl through the internet for an organisation who may, or may not, be able to support. We provide immediate, and ongoing, support and are here for as long as our families need us.
However, we know that gaps in support for those suddenly bereaved still exist outside of Wales. And so we are expanding into England and are on the lookout for passionate and committed individuals who want to help push the charity to the next level.
Context of role:
2wish support anyone affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young person aged 25 and under. We provide immediate, and longer-term support to families, individuals, professionals and witnesses. Since we were established in 2012, we have grown to deliver our service across the whole of Wales.
In January 2024, we expanded the geographical area and recruited a brand-new team to deliver the service in the border counties of England and Wales, namely Cheshire, Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Somerset. This will be the first of several phases of expansion and the aim is to deliver our service throughout England and Wales in the coming years.
The post holder will lead an effective and cohesive management team across England and Wales overseeing the development and delivery of specialist services for individuals affected by sudden and unexpected death in children and young people aged 25 and under. They will ensure the team provide the highest standards of support, and that services are shaped by the needs of those who access them.
The key objectives of the post are:
- To lead upon delivery of support services across England and Wales, ensuring services are delivered consistently to a high quality and are embedded across a growing geographical area. To embed a growing team and develop relevant strategic priorities.
- To motivate, lead and develop a multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic services to families, friends, professionals, witnesses and individuals affected by sudden death.
- To establish pan-phase partnerships with key stakeholders to embed and develop referral pathways and raise awareness of the charity and its services.
- To work closely with the CEO, Director of Operations, Director of Transformation and Strategy and the wider Leadership Team promoting effective cross-team working that contributes to the overall objectives of 2wish and 2wish Cymru.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
1.0. Support services:
- To oversee outstanding service delivery across England and Wales that responds flexibly to emerging need in line with the business plan, key deliverables, budget and policies and procedures
- To leading on effective delivery and scaling up of services throughout the expansion phases
- To work closely with the Director of Transformation and Strategy to ensure a consistent approach to service delivery that aims to embed the service within existing child death procedures
- To oversee and monitor financial performance, ensuring effective deployment of resources and compliance against agreed targets/budgets
- To be responsible for Safeguarding and work with designated Safeguarding Officers to ensure services are safe for supported persons, staff, counsellors and therapists, volunteers, external partners and other key stakeholders
- To carry out regular risk assessments for services. Ensuring safeguarding concerns are followed up systematically, including making referrals to statutory services
- To oversee high-quality assurance of the service through monitoring of quality assurance systems, audits, management of complaints and learning from disruption
- To work with managers and Senior Leaders in the development and definition of new services, ensuring that operational procedures which support service delivery are fit for purpose
- To taking a hands-on approach to dealing with complex or difficult cases, particularly in new areas as we expand
- To oversee and further develop monitoring and evaluation processes to clearly demonstrate the impact the service has on individuals supported
- To contribute towards applications and reports for funders/ grants etc. in line with milestones /objectives and funding agreements
- To attend formal and informal meetings with the 2wish Senior Management Team and as required with the Trustee Board to review and report on progress
2.0. Leadership:
- To provide clear and visible leadership for a growing support team, with a specific focus upon leading and developing the support managers, taking overall responsibility and accountability for their management, performance, quality of their outputs, including recruitment/retention, induction, training and development, performance management and succession planning
- To lead and motivate staff in the performance of their duties in a way which encourages loyalty, dedication and high professional standards, in line with 2wish Cymru and 2wish ethos, values and determined by the Leadership team and Trustee Board in our strategic plan
- To further develop a positive approach to change and growth in line with expansion plans and the subsequent changes to staffing and areas of service delivery
- To establish and maintain effective working relationships on a local and national with referral partners and key stakeholders including police, health and professionals involved in child death procedures
- To oversee the development of training packages to encourage education and awareness around the experiences of those affected by sudden death
- To work closely with the CEO and Leadership team to support the work of 2wish nationally
- To ensure that the voices and needs of those affected by sudden death in children and young people are at the centre of decision making in Wales and England
- To work to the policies and procedures of the organisation, to promote these with staff and to ensure that they are maintained and developed appropriately. Keeping up to date with regulation, guidance, standards, government policy and research relating to sudden child death
3.0. General:

Aid Box Community (ABC) is a Bristol charity that provides hope, love and a sense of belonging to people seeking asylum in Bristol. The charity was started 7 years ago on the Refugee camps in France by a local mum and has grown and evolved to support over 5000 people a year through our Free Shop and Welcome Hub, Activity Groups and Trips and Connections Befriending program. We have 336 volunteers and a fantastic, small team and we are looking for a part time Finance Officer.
The job is for 15hrs a week ideally to be worked over 2 or 3 days Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Based at the ABC office, Portland Square, Bristol and some home working on agreement.
We are a small team, and you may be asked to do something outside of your Job Description and help support other members of the Aid Box team.
Job Description:
The Finance Officer will have a wide variety of financial management and control tasks from day to day bookkeeping to filing year end accounts. They will formally report to the Director of Strategy and liaise regularly with the Board Treasurer.
Role Overview
The Finance Officer is responsible for the smooth running of all day-to-day aspects of the financial management of Aid Box Community (ABC):

Provide a high quality and effective financial management and Bookkeeping service to the charity

Prepare, develop and analyse management accounting information and reports, including a standard suite of monthly reports and ad-hoc reports as required by the Charity

Ensure compliance with all relevant financial statutory and regulatory matters relevant to the Charity

Liaison with the external Auditor in preparing and getting approval and sign off of the annual statutory accounts
Key responsibilities:
The postholder will advise the charity on all matters relating to the finance of the organisation and provide management information for the Board of trustees. They will also be expected to contribute to future strategy, business planning, year-end accounts, monitoring of budgets and performance, and full adherence to al financial policies and procedures in accordance with the Finance Manual. Financial Management
Accountancy and Bookkeeping Systems
Maintenance of all accounting records on an ongoing basis to include:
· Manage all income and expenditure processing.
· Maintain and improve bookkeeping and accountancy systems (both computerised and manual) including:
- Bank reconciliations.
- Cash flow management.
- Income and grant analysis (restricted and designated funds).

Accounts payable
· Process purchase invoices in an accurate and timely manner.

· Ensure petty cash via Soldo Card is available and monitored
· Process staff expenses, ensuring compliance with policy
· Access and administer online banking
· Pay roll, pay salary and staff costs
Accounts Receivable
· Control and Monitoring of restricted funds including detailed records of spend allocation of funds and remaining balance.
· Accurately accounting for all income receipts monthly including donations from individuals and organisations and grants and claiming any appropriate Gift Aid.
Budgets
· Monitor the budget against actual and investigate any major variations in budget.
· Involvement in strategic and planning projections with the Director of Strategy.

This role is crucial in providing personalised support and interventions for those experiencing homelessness and addiction issues, and to create a safe environment that empowers residents to make positive changes in their lives.
Role Overview:
Housing and Service Delivery
- Provide strong and effective support to residents in Acorn House that focuses on their strengths and goals, and is delivered in a personalised way and within a framework of active engagement and co-production
- Developing and reviewing support plans that reflect the interests and aspirations of residents
- Induct new residents in line with the service’s policies and procedures and support them to
continue in their journey towards recovery from addiction - Carry out assessments of those referred to Acorn House, and induct new residents
- Ensure the fundamental needs of residents are met including good quality accommodation and facilities, healthy food, advice and guidance around benefits, and alcohol and drug testing (to help maintain an abstinent environment)
- Deal with the immediate support needs of residents as appropriate, providing crisis intervention where necessary
- Support residents in addressing physical and mental health issues, including liaison with primary and secondary health teams
- Ensure residents are supported through court or welfare rulings (if necessary)
- Ensure effective and compliant administration of resident data using a bespoke Salesforce- based platform (In-Form)
- Ensure Housing Benefit and Services Charges are collected and managed effectively
- Monitor resident’s physical and mental health, ensuring appropriate support is provided
- Be flexible and responsive at all times to meet the changing needs of the service and the service users and ensuring high quality support is provided.
- Ensure each resident’s support plan is written, monitored and reviewed as appropriate to reflect their changing needs.
- Ensure residents progress and engage with other SCT programmes (when required)
- Ensure conditions and requirements relating to any contracts or management agreements are applied throughout SCT’s services
- Work effectively as part of a team, attending team/ staff meetings and making a positive contribution to the development of the team and wider SCT services
- Effectively control and manage financial records appropriate to the duties of the post (petty cash/rent)
- Participate in a feedback culture for continuous improvement
- Promote social inclusion for residents, supporting them to access all benefits available to them
- Support residents with physical and mental health issues, including liaison with mental health teams within the community.
- Ensure all repairs and maintenance needs are raised
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Maintain accurate records of residents on In-Form
Operational Support
- Comply with Health and Safety, including but not limited to any fire maintenance, risk assessments and complete room checks and raise any risks to the Supported Housing Manager
- Ensure equipment of all applicable facilities is in good working order
- To provide an on-call/out-of-hours service when required
- Carry out other duties as may reasonably be required
Special Conditions
- This post requires the holder to work varying shifts between 08.00 am and 8.00 pm and participation in the call rota system (for which an additional allowance is paid)
- The post-holder is required to work weekends as part of a rota and Bank Holidays when required
- On occasions you may be requested to change your rota to ensure the requirements of the service are covered
- In accordance with the guidelines on Health and Safety, to accept responsibility for working within these guidelines and reporting any concerns to the Supported Housing Manager
