Role Overview: 

Reporting to the Management Accountant, the Finance Assistant will support the Finance Team, providing financial and administrative services for our business. The Finance team sits within our Central Services division. 

Central Services ensures the company operates smoothly and assists in working towards Enables strategic direction. Supporting the various services that make up Enable, Central Services consists of small and high output teams including Human Resources, Marcomms, Operations and Finance. Together, these teams make up the foundation of our business, driving our mission and fostering growth and development.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:  

• Accounts payable and receivables: controls and processes 
• Processing purchase invoices: entering and coding invoices (including VAT) in Xero managing the approval workflow (by cost centre budget holders) as required
• Setting up weekly payment runs, expense pay runs and individual payments as required 
• Maintaining the aged purchase ledger ensuring invoices are accounted for on receipt and tracked through to payment 
• Supplier set-up: ensure appropriate supplier information is obtained 
• Raising sales and recharge invoices on a monthly/quarterly basis 
• Bank reconciliation process 
• Posting cash journals to record payments/receipts from bank statements into the ledger 
• Processing and posting payroll journal
• Assisting with month-end processes 
• Assisting with balance sheet reconciliations and other standard month end processes 
• Assisting with year-end accounts preparation and audit process 
• Assisting with general finance-related inquiries and correspondence received via the generic finance email inbox.

Skills and Experience:  

• Experience of Purchase Ledger, Sale Ledger and General Ledger management including month end processes
• Experience of bank and other balance sheet reconciliations

• Proficiency in MS Office, Xero and other accountancy packages

About You

About us at the NCT

A lot of people know NCT for our antenatal classes, and we want to continue to support as many parents and families as we can to access evidence-based information. But we are also much more than this. We are a charity that campaigns on the issues that matter to parents. We run breastfeeding and infant feeding support, provided by specialist counsellors. We run thousands of free community activities and events across the UK, led by our fantastic volunteers and peers. And we support women and families facing specific challenges, such as social isolation, feeding difficulties or poor mental health.

We are delighted to be commissioned to deliver infant feeding peer support within Newham’s diverse community. Working in partnership with local infant feeding teams, health visiting and midwifery teams, children centres and volunteer and charity organisations to ensure all parents are able to access the support they need. The post holder is responsible for the recruitment, coordination, support and management of a diverse team of infant feeding peer supporter volunteers across the borough, working in collaboration with NCT’s established perinatal peer support work within the borough.

Responsible for the managerial oversight of the Infant Feeding community peer support across Newham, this role will work with diverse and vulnerable groups and make a positive difference by supporting families  who experience barriers to accessing support and social isolation in pregnancy and postnatally with feeding their baby.

About the Role

 Some of the key responsibilities of the role include:

· Responsible for the recruitment, coordination, support and management of a diverse team of infant feeding peer supporter volunteers.

· Establishing and maintaining a good working knowledge and understanding of the local demographics of parents in the area, including local volunteer, charity and faith support services and projects working with vulnerable and marginalised communities.

· Working in collaboration with NCT’s currently established perinatal peer support work within the borough, local infant feeding teams and early years services to ensure all parents can access the support they need.

· Report progress on project status, timelines and delivery against key performance indicators.

· Participate in local networking/task and finish projects, so that the programme is an integral part of the local infant feeding provision

· Be able to travel around the area to meetings and groups.

You must have excellent communication skills and be able to build relationships and create a rapport with a wide range of people easily. You must be able to confidently prioritise your own work, be highly organised and able to work independently.

Being able to make decisions and respond appropriately to our commissioners, staff, peer supporters and parents and other external stakeholders is essential, alongside good IT skills– including Outlook, Word and Excel – and you must have good attention to detail.
 
The role is 28 hours per week which will be predominantly Monday to Friday within the working day, however, will include occasional evening and weekends. This is largely a community-based role with some home working

Yeldall Manor is a Christian recovery centre for men wanting to overcome their addiction problems. We have created this new part-time position to provide consistent and professional HR support to the organisation, bringing together various roles currently undertaken by a few different staff members.

The role will suit someone who can work under their own initiative (after training in our charity practices), experienced in overseeing the employee journey from recruitment and retention to departure. You will act as the first point of contact for HR-related queries, and ensure that the charity is compliant with all relevant legislation. This will involve dealing with all employment matters, building robust policies & procedures, and implementation across the organisation. You would also be responsible for preparing the staff rota and all related administration. We do not currently have HR software, so reviewing our requirements in this area would be one of your responsibilities. As a small charity (c. 35 staff including part-time and casual workers), the role will require balancing practical and administrative tasks with management responsibilities. We anticipate that you'll be based in the office for at least two days out of the three days/24 hours worked per week. This is in a lovely rural setting near Twyford (Reading) and, being situated within the rehabilitation centre, you will have daily contact with those men whom you are ultimately helping. The Wirral Dementia Support Service provides a highly responsive and individualised information, signposting and referral service to people affected by dementia. You will;

- Assist people with dementia and their carers in identifying their needs, providing information and guidance to help maintain their independence, improving their sense of well-being, and putting them in more control of their lives.
- Be part of a highly motivated and supportive team, sharing responsibility of some Group Activities.
- Build relationships with a range of local contacts, networking with health and care professionals, marketing the Wirral Dementia Support Service and providing dementia support. 
- Develop networks and pathways with partner organisations who work in the field of dementia, ensuring seamless and consistent support and empowering individuals affected by dementia to make informed choices.
- Provide support face-to-face, by telephone and online.

About you

We are looking for a highly motivated individual, with an understanding of dementia and the needs of people affected by dementia.

You will;

- Be empathetic and non-judgmental in your approach with a commitment to equal opportunity.
- It is desirable that you have knowledge and experience of Adult and Children Safeguarding, Information Governance policies and procedures and statutory laws such as the Mental Capacity Act

The position:

As Social Media Coordinator, you will live and breathe all things social media, leading all activities across our Facebook, X, Instagram, Threads, YouTube, and LinkedIn, as well as keeping an eye out for opportunities elsewhere on social media. 

A social media wizard with strong working knowledge of social channels, you’ll implement a digital strategy focused on engaging and converting our community to take action for animals.

This role reports to the Digital Communications Manager.

Hours:

This is a full time position of 37.5 hours per week over Monday to Friday. 

From 1st July 2024 we are piloting a four day working week across the whole of the UK organisation. This pilot is planned to run for 12 months, at which point a decision will be made by our Board of Trustees as to whether this will become permanent. Success of the trial relies on the organisation being able to achieve the same or improved level of impact in four working days as five, with staff experiencing either the same or improved levels of wellbeing.

During the four day week pilot, working hours for this position will be reduced to 30 hours per week, to be worked across Monday to Thursday, with no reduction in salary. This will be a temporary change to the contractual terms for the successful candidate. The appointed person must be prepared to increase their working hours to 37.5 hours per week if a return to a five-day working week is decided. In the event that THL UK considers before the end of the trial period that the trial is having an adverse operational impact, we reserve the right to bring the trial to end on one month’s notice.

Who you are:

Primary Responsibilities:

• Ownership of our social media channels, posting content regularly that is tailored to each channel and ensuring each channel’s features are used to create the biggest impact for our supporters.

• Planning and building social media campaigns that strategically integrate goals and consider metrics.

• Updating the communications calendar.

• Create inspiring concepts and develop these into compelling, on-brand, platform-specific content using tools like Canva.

• Social media community management including moderating and responding to comments and messages.

• Regularly monitoring social trends to create topical content.

• Using tools such as Google Analytics, Facebook insights, and Sprout Social to report on post performance and monitor and evaluate success, on a monthly basis.

• Design, run, and monitor social media advertising campaigns to grow and mobilise our network.

• Keep up to date with new features and tech related to social media platforms, as well as other organisations’ activity, to ensure the most engaging and effective content.

• Encourage and assist staff members in producing social media content, supporting them with creative and technical guidance and giving feedback.

• Contribute to other communications activities such as website and PR content, as necessary.

• Attend events, protests and actions as necessary.

• Update the wider team on social media progress and insights.

• Perform any other duties assigned by the Digital Communications Manager or Head of Communications.

The Finance Team at Alzheimer’s Research UK is responsible for maintaining the financial records of the Charity and providing timely and accurate financial information. The team is responsible for ensuring there is a strong financial control environment, and for providing support and advice on all finance matters to employees across the charity.

You will be required to be in the office at least two days per week and will have a high level of financial acumen and understanding.  As the Finance Manager - Compliance, Controls & Reporting, you will assist the Head of Finance in all elements of technical accounting, including financial compliance, internal financial controls, and financial reporting.  Working alongside the Finance Manager - Transactional Accounting and the transactional finance team, you will ensure a seamless finance function, ensuring that best practice is adopted at all times, to minimise risk to financial fraud, and to ensure compliance with all applicable financial regulations and reporting requirements.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

· Support the development and implementation of best financial practices.

· Lead the production of annual financial statements and reporting, and together with the Finance Manager - Transactional Accounting, lead the annual audit process.

· Lead the on the production of annual financial statements and annual audit on behalf of Alzheimer’s Brain Bank, a small joint venture company in which we hold a 50% share.

· Cash flow monitoring and projections.

· Prepare and submit all Office for National Statistics, Charity Commission, Companies House and OSCR (Scottish Charity Regulator) returns.

· Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns, ensuring compliance with VAT reverse charges and applicable business/non-business VAT recovery rules.

· Be the first point of contact for internal and external partners regarding technical accounting and related matters, including charity VAT and Trading rules.

· Provide financial information for funding bid applications.

· Provide financial advice regarding income recognition criteria, particularly regarding legacy accruals and philanthropy pledges.

· Provide financial advice regarding expenditure recognition criteria, particularly regarding multi-year grants.

· Monitor and reconcile all restricted income against restriction forms and the grant system to ensure restricted funds are managed and spent in accordance with donor wishes.

· Review policies and procedures alongside the Head of Finance and the Finance team to ensure they are applicable, up to date, understood across the charity and consistently adhered to.

· Maintain a sound financial control environment, ensuring all assets of the charity are safeguarded against financial fraud, as much as possible.

· Working with the Head of Finance, design and implement an assurance programme on internal financial controls.

· Keep up to date with all technical finance developments and reporting requirements applicable to the charity.

· Manage Finance team GDPR deletion requests and GDPR compliance actions.

· Maintain insurances for the organisation and be the first point of contact between insurance brokers and the organisation for queries and claims.

· Manage the interface between the finance system and the grant management system to ensure the correct recognition and ageing of grant liabilities.

· Provide cover for the Finance Manager - Transactional Accounting as required.

· Undertake any other relevant duties and projects delegated by the Head of Finance, in line with the responsibilities of the post.

 

What we are looking for:

· ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification.

· Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

· Experience in a previous finance role.

As the Active Travel Project Officer, you will deliver walking, Wheeling and cycling activities that promote Physical and mental well-being. Working closely with NCC (Nottingham City Council) and Nottingham Community and Voluntary Services you will share your passion and enthusiasm for walking and cycling and make a positive impact on people's health and well-being. 

Contributing to the Travel Well initiative you will work with people of all ages and walks of life who refer themselves to the project or are referred by health professionals or other community services. You will identify routes to deliver buddy walks and rides to those referred. 

You will build and manage internal and external relationships with key people and organisations to raise awareness and understanding of the Travel Well programme and the support it can offer. You will run and facilitate workshops, events and talks to promote the project and motivate people to join.

Role Overview: 

You'll be the go-to person for transforming our unique venues – from the Pump House Gallery to the Battersea Park Bandstand and Bowling Green, and the Wandsworth Civic Suite – into dream settings for weddings and private events. The role will also be responsible for proactively selling our wedding spaces and managing enquiries all the way through to event delivery and ensuring that health and safety procedures are adhered to when on-site.

 The Events Team are a busy, creative, tight knit group of vibrant professionals who are looking for someone to join the team who pride themselves in 5 start customer service and going the extra mile for their clients. In the Events Team we celebrate creative problem solving, autonomy and integrity in our approach to work. 

Main Duties/Responsibilities:  

Sales

• Generate leads, convert enquiries into bookings through quotes and site visits and build strong client relationships along the way
• Collaborate with the Deputy Head of Events and weddings team to create fresh event packages and initiatives that complement existing income streams
• Actively build new sales pipelines by leveraging networks and community connections
• Manage all enquiries in Priava, keeping track of venue availability, quotes and site visits
• Drive revenue growth by exceeding income goals set by the Head of Events
• Occasional evenings and weekend site visits for prospective clients across our venues 

End-to-end Event Management

• Support the Weddings Team in managing customer queries, feedback and delivery
•  Oversee event management ensuring all event paperwork complies with Event Policy requirements
• Ensure events are properly staffed, and staff are fully briefed on client needs
• Liaise closely with the Events Team and other park services to ensure seamless coordination of the entire events program
• Line management of Events Coordinators within the Weddings function and the Events Support Assistant
• Occasional event delivery dependant on department / team needs 

Event Production

• Support the Head of Events and team with the delivery of Enable-produced events throughout the year
• Assist with the physical setup and dismantling of events. Including managing contractors, suppliers and event equipment
• Create, manage and deliver a program of Community Events Admin and Finance
• Log venue bookings, budgets, and all recorded income in Priava
• Create client invoices, liaise with the Finance Team, and follow up on invoices
• Seek quotes aligned with Enable's Procurement Code and raise purchase orders
• Achieve targeted income through smart booking selection and balancing the needs of public use venues 
• Carrying out other duties as directed by the Deputy Head of Events

Skills and Experience:  

• Previous wedding / venue management experience with demonstrable experience of end-to-end events management
• Experience in budget management
• Line management experience in a supportive collaborative way
• Comfortable using essential office software like Outlook, Excel, and other databases
• Tenacity to seek out potential new business and client opportunities and confidence to work independently and lead from the front
• Patience and ability to negotiate professionally with suppliers
• Proactive approach and pride yourself on going the extra mile to create the best 5* customer experience as possible
• Excellent written and communicative skills with a high level of confidence speaking to members of the public, other staff, clients and senior management
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines effectively
• Ability to work autonomously under the direction from senior team members
• Hold a full clean manual UK driving licence
• Comfortable working weekends, early mornings and late nights when required
